House Pork Plate, Tofu Rice Bowl, Thai Milk Tea
    Tia P.

I got a house pork plate and a tofu bowl and both were delicious and came with plenty of protein! The peanuts are on the side and the green sauce was delicious. I do wish they asked us about which sauce we wanted bc they only offered the green, but I saw after they had chili sauce and fish sauce which I would've gotten. Service was quick and "chipotle" like byob style. The Thai milk tea was also really tasty with 50% sweetness.

Located in SLU, this is one of the rare finds of affordable lunch. Banh mi's from $9.99 and rice bowls from $11.99, plus tax - a lot of neighboring places price lunches at 50% more than here. When I went at 11am at opening, it was already pretty busy with a line out the door so I can't imagine how busy it is when it is noon. There is limited seating inside and some outside (only viable when it's not too cold outside). I got the grilled chicken rice bowl with the green sauce, with lettuce, carrots, etc for the toppings. The green sauce is like a cilantro sauce and it was an amazing addition. There is a lot of chicken but not much rice, and I'd take that over having more rice to fill me up. The vegetables are fresh and make the meal nutritionally complete. It was just the right amount of food, and it was healthy, so it is not as filling as other places, but I would take this quality over having quantity. With the amount of meat and the quality of the food, this is one of the better lunches in SLU!

Got a beef rice bowl to-go and it was just ok. Portion size was good but the flavor and quality of the food was lacking.

Unfortunately I never received a response to my experience after calling and emailing.

Always my go to quick and easy meal back in UDistrict. Still hit the spot after many years later. Both pork and beef are perfectly cooked and seasoned just right. Veggies are always fresh.

Ambience. A Service. A Food. A Price. A Found in the middle between buildings surrounded by working. And living spaces. Have no idea where to find parking, albeit got lucky with street working around block to get my pickup. Nice modern spot. Reminds me of a chipotle setup for ordering Vietnamese food!! Ordered off UBER eats to get a discount BOGO and did my own pickup to avoid $10 deliver service fee. Ordered pork vermicelli. All the veggies were fresh and crunchy and rice noodles on point and the pork was tender. Don't know where the sauce is ?!! The Nuoc Cham sauce?!! Took home and made my own. Lots of food for $15 a bowl! Overall, I'm a FaN!!!

Great place to get a quick and casual Vietnamese meal. Portions were good, lots of flavor and fresh vegetables. Some pieces of meat were a little dry. Overall good experience.

Nice spot for a quick lunch! The staff is responsive and super quick. The grilled chicken was yummy, get the spicy green sauce! The amount of food was pretty great given it was only around $12. Would definitely go back again!

Lychee lemonade without ice? We are confused if it was overlooked or is this standard? Yuzu arrived same way.

We ordered via Instacart. And it was awesome delivery (while being treated for lung rejection), easy transfer, tipping etc. never went into store but very well liked by UWMC staff. The food is Banj Mi Beef Brisket. The brisket is golden. Smooth and silky to eat with the best seasoning and veg ratios. The crunch baguette... yum. Transports me back to my childhood in Seattle restaurants. This is our second order from them and everything is delish. Will go back. Lychee lemonade and yuzu lemonade. I got the half sweet version of the lemonades and only received half a cup and NO ice? Maybe that is their sweet 50% version. Not a win.

I got an order for pickup and didn't realize that this was like a Chipotle but with Vietnamese food until I stopped by to grab my order. You can choose between different meats, veggies, and vessels to carry all the above on (rice, banh mi, vermicelli noodles). I got the grilled chicken rice bowl with no jalapeños and extra egg (since it was the #1 order online). Glad I listened to the masses because it was bomb. The chicken was flavorful and juicy, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the veggies were fresh. Also the portions were great. I have a big appetite and I was able to split my bowl into two meals. I'll definitely be coming back to try different custom orders! Highly recommend asking for extra fish sauce too.

Came to SLU for 4th of July and stopped by here to eat while waiting for the fireworks to start. Overall, I thought this place was ok. I got the grilled pork bánh mì for $9.98 Pros: super huge generous portions. Given the big increase in food prices lately, what you get here is a steal and the main reason why I would come back. I noticed big portions in my sandwich and also others' orders. Grilled pork had good flavor and I liked the grilled corn and scallion oil (mỡ hành). Cons: I felt the bread was either old or previously heated to be crispy and then left to cool for a long time so it was a little dry. They ask to put the sauce on last but I think they should put it on first because after all the meat and veggies they give, there's practically no room for sauce. I thought they should've pickled the carrots longer or with more sugar. I wonder about the cleanliness because the bathroom could use some work. Thought it was weird they store containers and food wrappers a mere feet from the toilet (though everything looked wrapped/in boxes). Neutral: Service was not outstanding but got the job done Next time I would like to try the rice bowl

We got the pumpkin walnut muffin ($5.90) and a vegan chocolate chip cookie ($4.90). They were both really good but I think the cookie really stood out - it was the biggest GF vegan cookie I've ever seen, and it wasn't overly crumbly which most GF baked goods are. A little pricier than GF baked goods I've seen at coffee shops but I think it makes sense since you're paying for the fact that it's a gluten free dedicated kitchen and to have more choices (donuts, cookies, muffins, little cakes, quiches.) Staff was nice, and it wasn't busy at all right at opening on a Saturday morning in July. I would think of it as a grab-and-go place more than a sit down place as the inside isn't particularly cute or inviting, and there is pretty limited outdoor seating. Grab a pastry, then go enjoy it with a coffee at a park nearby!

Filled with corporate slop bowls to fuel up tech bros, you won't find a decent meal anywhere on this side of the lake. But Tanoor is kind of like that special someone who has been there your whole life but you've always looked past for greener pastures. This restaurant was staring me right in the eyes for years, and I didn't realize how magnificent it was until today. When you walk in you are greeted by warm, fresh and fluffy pita. Guess what, IT COMES WITH THE MEAL! Everyone knows I'm a sucker for some free bread. But don't let these Lebanese pillows fill you up, the dip marathon has just begun. The menu here is unlike anything I've ever seen. You can get lost trying to figure out what to order for lunch, so I would advise consulting the waitstaff for guidance through this delightful maze. I just looked on their menu to figure out what the fries that I ate were called, and I can't find them for the life of me. But they had their own incredible dip completely covering them. At one point we had 4 different dips on the table, and I'm not sure how they got there. 1) The dip on the fries 2) Spicy hummus (not that spicy, incredibly tasty) 3) Za'tar that comes with the pita 4) Yogurt sauce that came with the Kabob combo Everything comes with something else here. And since I was having an electric conversation with my good friend, I sort of lost track of everything that we ordered. I highly recommend the combo for two to three people as you get a variety of different appetizers and all of the main kabobs. However, a couple of things that really made this experience mediocre. First, the meat was overcooked even though I asked for medium rare. Most of the meat came out medium well. The rice was undercooked and hard when you bit into it. The server could have been more attentive.. didn't come back to check on us, even though the restaurant wasn't super busy. The biggest disappointment is that this establishment passes on a 5% fee to help pay for their staff's benefits. They stay it's optional and they can take it off but it's very distasteful. The owner should reconsider this and build this expense into the pricing of their menu. Otherwise their wait staff is going to feel slighted when customers leave less tip because of this additional fee. Overall, this is a solid place, but the experience was just average considering all aspects, and therefore the three star rating.
