I was a loyal customer at the location on the corner of L St. & 17th St., and I honestly haven't had Potbelly since I left DC back in 2017. A Big Wreck on multigrain with everything on it and extra hot peppers. One bite and it brought back so many memories. The bread still has that nice chewy texture, the meats are warm and satisfying, and the extra hot peppers with the pickled carrots add that crunchy, tangy kick that I always loved. It's messy in the best way and every bite has a little bit of everything. Airport food is usually something you settle for, but this was the meal I was actually hoping to find. If you've never tried Potbelly before, the Big Wreck is still a solid place to start.
