Sizzler is an iconic affordable steakhouse chain that's been around since 1958. Unfortunately, so many of their locations have closed over the years, but there are still a few remaining. We normally go to the Los Feliz location, but this time we wanted to try the Van Nuys location. I wanted to celebrate my son's recovery from surgery so we decided to come here for dinner tonight. There's a pretty big parking lot and it was pretty packed, being a Saturday night. We walked in and waited in line for a few minutes until David took our order at the counter. I got the Steak and Grilled Shrimp Skewers (2) with a side of Cilantro Lime Rice ($22.49) and an extra side of vegetables ($4.29). My son got the Italian Herb Chicken with Vegetables ($14.49) and his meal came with a side salad he could build at the salad bar. The place was clean and the booths are spacious. Our server Abby brought out the Garlic Toast followed by our food. I had to wait a few extra minutes for my extra veggies, but they were cooked to absolute perfection, just the way I like them. I had requested they be cooked extra when I placed my order and I'm glad I did. My son said his veggies were all raw, as if they had just been put on the plate straight from the cutting board. I enjoyed my entrée. The shrimp was absolutely delicious, grilled and seasoned perfectly. The steak was ok, it was definitely medium well/well done and I had asked for medium rare. It was also kind of fatty in parts. The rice was also pretty bland, but I'm not going to dock a star for these reasons. I still enjoyed the food. They have two restrooms, one for men and one for women. There are also plenty of to-go and third party orders coming and going. I have always loved Sizzler and will continue coming back as long as they're still open.

Wow this place was surprisingly good and tasty. All the veggies were so fresh and crisp. It was a wonderful all you can eat salad bar lunch for under $15 per person. Plenty of seating. I'm full satisfied. Good service and friendly staff.

I want to be completely honest, Ashley is the star of this Show. She has the best attitude right when you walk in and she is very menu knowledgeable, Positive, and outgoing EVERY single time I've been at this location. A smile like that in this industry goes a long ways, I truly believe she can be a very successful waitress in a fine dining restaurant. I would love to see her be promoted as a server here at this location! Oh yeahhh also the food is pretty cool! It's sizzler and brings you back to the old days. Promote Ashley tho.. it would truly be awesome to see!!

In the Valley visiting family and suddenly I was like "I haven't had Sizzlers for a while." The closed all the Sizzlers in my area. We went to a different one but it was closed for maintenance and so we drove to Van Nuys. This one looked retro, but the food still hit. The salad bar is the best right now without Souplantation. It's still a great deal. I get an entree and then add the salad bar. Just get full off the salad bar and take my entree home. The staff were very nice and attentive. They say this one was in the hood, but I felt safe inside.

Having been to Sizzler's in a long time. But I'm glad I went back. I always get the same thing Malibu Chicken no ham and a baked potato. As always it was yummy. Also had a side salad which was good. But what truly it made the visit the best in a long time, was Elmer our waiter! He was so funny, kind and extremely helpful. He checked on us multiple times. Went out of his way to make sure that our iced teas were always filled. At one point we were just chatting with him and another regular client joined our conversation. Which is not something that you see very often, but was definitely appreciated. The location itself is a bit rundown, but is extremely clean.

always good. steak very good flavor. Pretty clean the bar can't get a little messy but they keep up on it as a whole food does get replaced pretty quickly.

I might be a bit biased here because I grew up eating at Sizzler regularly as a kid. My parents loved it and often took me and my brother. I especially enjoyed their early morning kids salad bar, which had cereal and lots of other breakfast treats. Now, as an adult, I appreciate the grown-up version of their salad bar. I love making my own salad and piling my plate with their wings, which I genuinely believe are some of the best, especially when paired with their BBQ sauce. It's just so good! I usually go back for another plate to make nachos and finish it all off with some ice cream, which you can even take home. It's a satisfying meal for me. That said, the price has definitely gone up over the years. I remember when the salad bar was just $6, but now it's almost $20. Inflation really sucks. This particular Sizzler location is nice the staff has always been friendly but it can be pretty dirty. That's why I'm giving it 4 stars. The place can feel a bit grimy, and the bathrooms could use some work. Still, it's easy for me to overlook because I grew up with Sizzler and have so many fond memories. I guess I'm just a little biased! Haha

I think everyone starts their review off the same way... I used to go to sizzler when I was a kid... blah blah blah. Well I got news for you, this Sizzler has the goods. Late 80s early 90s ambiance - Clean, delicious salad bar with all the dressings Steak and shrimp that is well cooked , and portioned really well. Soft serve ice cream bar Taco bar Service that would put a 5 star restaurant in Beverly Hills to shame. That greasy garlic cheese bread!! Is unlimited All said and done, 5 out of 5. I would come back for sure... after a good workout and I'd bring my friends. Viva Sizzler!

I have no clue why this place has a 3.6 rating. I ordered my fav double Malibu chicken today and it was hot, fresh and very tasty. Extra free cheese toast too of course! Whenever I have to travel to the third world city of Los Angeles, Sizzler is always a go to spot!

2 1/2 minute read: There may be some out there who've never been to SIZZLER. I haven't met them. But I know this: SIZZLER, once you've eaten there- "I'LL BE BACK!" For years now, we've been to SIZZLER all over Southern California and consistency has been a norm. They do steaks perfectly. Every menu item gets appropriate attention from the cooks. As a restaurant, SIZZLERS has been successful but by no means are they perfect. Example: On my last visit, I craved a 14 oz RIBEYE steak but when my meal came, I noticed my steak was not RIBEYE. I was very disappointed but refrained complaining. The waitress did ask if there was anything else she could get us. I said, "No thank you" although my steak was wrong. We finished our dinner and enjoyed EVERYTHING, but I took my steak home, since I didn't eat it. I did taste a slice and it was perfect and very delicious. It it wasn't RIBEYE. The next day I called SIZZLER and spoke with the Manager, which btw, was the Cashier that took or. Dinner order last night- Leslie. Leslie listened to my story. Her bottom line conclusion was "You should have mentioned it to the waitress when that happened. I can't do anything about it now." I offered several solutions, She listened politely but stood her ground. Conclusion: Leslie did her job, followed set rules but failed to keep the Customer satisfied. SIZZLER's higher -ups need to improve their Managers bedside choices, to satisfy Customers. I have an AA DEGREE from Los Angeles City College. It's DIETETIC FOOD SERVICE MANAGEMENT and NUTRITION. My background in Directing & managing food service departments covers Healthcare & Restaurants, Cafeterias and Nutrition Counseling. I've worked at USC CLINICAL RESEARCH CENTER, LONG BEACH MEMORIAL MEDICAL CENTER, BROTMAN MEMORIAL HOSPITAL, SANTA MONICA MEDICAL CENTER, and more. Am I BRAGGING?! NO & YES. Sizzler's Manager insisted, "There's nothing I can do now!" I don't blame Leslie. The SIZZLER corporate above her, CAN do something. Will they?

Love seafood and the whole works. I heard they even offer you a bib, to get messy, which I am so down for. Anyway, same thing happened at this restaurant. A confidential envelope was posted on the door and we were not able to get in. Both sides of the doors were locked. Some other mail was on the ground and 2 were inside the restaurant. I don't know what is going on with both Oliva and this Crab House restaurants? It was dark inside as I snooped to see what the place looked like, was not able to see anything, except one side of the restaurant the chairs were placed on top of the tables. Again, either they are going out of business, or sold the restaurant to someone else. We dialed their number, no answer, left a message (twice), and no one called us back! Even until today. What a shame!! Was so looking forward to it. We were there on the 7th of this month at 12 noon. My friend drove all the way from Tarzana so we could have had lunch, but both restaurants let us down..

Back to the deli counter - they recommended I try the smoked sea bass since they don't get it in often so I took some of that and a smoked salmon collar. The hand roll bar was empty since it was late in the afternoon but too early for dinner. I promised the sushi chef there that I would return. So I went back today with a couple of friends. We sat at that hand roll bar and had the best hand rolls I've ever had. We ordered a la carte and I absolutely loved those creations - full of flavor, texture - unique and tantalizing! I'm curious to go back and try some of the other things on there like the burger? the shabu shabu? I can't wait to see how they serve those items. Their little market area is fascinating as well - with small bottles of soy sauce aged in bourbon barrels and other delicious sounding ingredients. Though it's the more casual offshoot of Water Grill, King's retains a sleek decor and top-flight service, and you definitely get an excellent experience for your buck. In fact, cocktails are a good few dollars less here than at other places in the area, especially Blvd Steak right next door. My martini was very cold, well-made and of a very generous size, so no complaints on that front at all. My wife ordered the Macadamia Crusted Halibut, with a double dose of starch: mashed potatoes and Mac & Cheese. The fish was fresh, meaty and nicely cooked, with a juicy interior and a very flavorful crust. The potatoes also had good flavor, but I found the mac & cheese to be wanting -- a bit too much like the packaged variety. However, my wife really liked it, so what do I know?! For my entree I ordered the Shrimp Louie Salad, a very generously portioned bowl of greens and assorted chopped veggies plus avocado, onion, hard boiled eggs and cool, poached shrimp, all topped with a Louie dressing. Everything was fresh as could be, the shrimp tasted terrific, and the avocado was a nice foil for the onion and chopped carrots. It was a very enjoyable entree salad. Although it didn't really necessarily show up as "the best food in LA area" but all the reviews were so good so I became curious to try. Mainly the reviews also raved about the vibes, services, and live music. Well, they were not wrong! It was fairly easy to make a reservation through Opentable, and I made a reservation for two people for my birthday dinner on Sunday night. I put on the notes that it's my bday so it'll be nice to get a nice table near the stage. I didn't have a high expectation, cos I'd never been to the place and I didn't make a call or anything. But wow, they definitely gave us a great table at the very front! As many reviewers had mentioned, the acoustic of the restaurant is really great. You can barely hear other people's conversations. There's a live jazz band playing, so you can really enjoy that. Although it made it slightly hard to hear what other nearby people say to you either, haha. Our server Dawson was a really great one! Very nice, very informative and just has a great vibe that made you feel comfortable to converse with him. We also asked if he could take a picture of us and he went above and beyond with taking our pictures haha. He took the table lamp as our additional "lighting". Such a great service! Dawson also made a few suggestions on food. We ordered the milk bun (so great!), the tiger prawns tostada (omg, my favorite of the night!), braised lamb pasta, pork belly risotto, and roasted broccolini. Everything was really good and really filled us up! We also got the "smokin old fashioned" and "Wake up and repeat" cocktails. It was plenty of food for us so we asked for a check. Dawson asked if we wanted a dessert but we were already full. He asked if it's ok to give us a lil treat for my bday. It was a really nice dessert :). Oh I forgot to mention that they also put a small bday card on the table for me. The prices of food and drinks are on the higher sides, but I feel like it's worth it due to the live music and the vibe. It easily covers the entertainment part. We definitely will go back and recommend this place for anyone who's looking into a nice date night or to celebrate something special. I was informed that Friday has more of a "party vibe" here, although it's still a jazz performance. Sunday feels more laid back :) Overall I'm really pleased by this place. I used to think that I don't care that much about excellent service as long as the food is great, but I was wrong. The excellent hospitality just made the night even better than expected. Thank you for making my bday dinner memorable.

Definitely swanky but down to earth vibes. I got the rasberry beret cocktail and it was different but fabulous. Not sure how else to describe it. It was refreshing. We got the tiger prawns and it was presented as a toasta, which had a great flavor and texture. The apple salad was also refreshing and a good portion to share between 2 people. The broccolini was cooked perfectly and my favorite after the tiger prawns was the Dungeness crab pasta. It had uni on top! The uni elevated the dish, and honestly there were a good amount of crab meat in the dish. Overall well balanced and creamy. The 2 of us left full and satisfied. Highly recommend this place for a date night. There's also plenty of street parking when we went but there is also valet for $15.
