I love this Sizzler. I feel like a kid again when we come here. There aren't many places left in the valley I visited as a child, but food at Sizzler has stood the test of time for me. The Van Nuys Sizzler is getting five stars from me, mainly for the service. Good service is almost a forgotten art in 2024, but not here. Elmer was all over the place handling multiple roles and customers, but he never stopped smiling or asking everyone if they were doing okay. Jose was also working extremely hard to make sure everyone was happy and taken care of. The entire staff at this Sizzler is excellent, but Elmer and Jose are two reasons I will keep coming back to this location. Thank you, Sizzler, for a cute date night with my fiancé. read more

Dated decor but the food is a score... the Sizzlers of Van Nuys is a spacious time capsule of buffet style food with a wide variety... also offering a small hot bar, mini taco bar and desert station. Service here isn't self served unlike some other location, however they're quick and very polite. The parking lot is pretty long and ride and the lunch buffet special is a great deal... less than 25 for two people, including tip. A few updated to the layout and the menu and this charming chain could really thrive more. read more

Keep It Real Guy for my third review one star, so lets get after it! Again portions very, very, small!! Steaks are small, plates with seafood portions small! Tonight I went in at around 4:15-4:30PM. on a Friday. They had one server on to handle a large dining room, of course she had trouble handling it!! I did not any manager on, It's very east to see why restaurants all over the country sales are down, closing a number of locations, filing for Bankruptcy protection. This all stems from not only poor sales, but raised prices, and portions cut down considerably the public has spoken!! They just don't dine at these places anymore!! But another reason why is very poor management!! Take the sizzler why is it staffed that way on a Friday?? Of course their will be poor service! It is impossible for one server to handle this amount of customers, I think a new Manager is needed and fast!!! This is beyond stupid! Now McDonalds sales are way down and tanking, because of their raised prices, and very poor management and supervision. Wendy's have closed multiple locations throughout the US. Poor Management, Red Robin closed locations BK. The buck stops their! If you have a poor coach in any sport, a losing team usually goes along with that!! So folks the right management that's the key! Sizzler sure ain't what it use to be. At least not the one at this location. The restaurant looked just so dirty. There was a hair on the carrots & the salad bar & when I told the lady filling up the salad bar she just dropped it on the ground. Didn't empty the ones that had hair or at least pretend she would do that. The Malibu chicken was disgusting. It was a cheap chicken patty with a slab of dry cheese and piece of lunchables ham on top. Nasty. The steak was the size of a beef jerky. Everything in the hot section of the salad bar was just dried up. So disappointed with Sizzler. The staff was also kind of rude. Restrooms filthy. Such a sad experience for me :( read more

If you order 25 times, you might get your order correct one time. The condiments are never there, sometimes you won't get the actual combination of things you ordered, or even anything near it, the lobster is like a weird kind of fish pudding... The meat is never cooked correctly, but again that doesn't matter because you're not gonna get what you ordered anyway, you're just gonna get some mishmash of stuff they threw together because no one ever checks the orders. Then, if you make any kind of complaint through Uber Eats, they will let you make your order and then they will cancel your order with no explanation... But don't worry because they're gonna make you wait 20 to 30 minutes before they cancel that order because they're passive aggressive And terrible at food. Stay away and if you decide to eat here, get your Covid shots and your tetanus shots. You've been warned, but I'm guessing most of the people that order food here don't know how to read anyway because they're toothless hillbillies so they're not gonna get to this point in the review. read more

Wow. I normally don't leave reviews unless the service is exquisite or terrible. I swear I'm a really nice person lol. This is literally the worst sizzler I've ever been to. We walked in and waited Five minutes for someone to come to the register. We literally could've eaten for free and we should have. Not saying sizzler should be high end food, but the food is old. Foods that are supposed to be hot are sitting out cold. The dessert bar has nothing but vanilla ice cream, and a bowl of what used to be sprinkles. the soup was watery and cold by the time I got a bowl and brought it to my table. SAVE SIZZLER!!! First time going to a Sizzler in 20 years and it was awesome. My husband and I got Steak&Lobster and we have not ever been so happy. Our dinner was so good. So Sizzler has the last salad bar you will ever need or probably ever have in the future so we got to save all the remaining Sizzler's since all the Hometown Buffets are permanently closed. I haven't been to Sizzler in forever but tonight's meal was really pretty good. We got the AYCE salad bar/soup/taco bar for $16 per person - a good price. It wasn't anything fantastic but it was enjoyable. The only thing that was rather objectionable was a little kid at the ice cream machine who put her hand in the bowl of peanut topping and took a big handful of the peanuts and walked off with them, rendering the whole thing contaminated. I went to lunch with a friend on News Years day. The bill came to about $45.00 and the food was really bad. The staff would not stop harassing me about my service dog. I did not enjoy myself at all. I used to go to Sizzler as a kid all the time, and then they shut down many locations, and I hadn't gone in years. A conversation with a friend about salad bars led me to down memory lane, and I decided to check out Sizzler. The salad bar here is solid--has a good variety and fresh ingredients. The menu is simple and it's fine for what you get. Both times I've been here, I ordered steak plus jumbo shrimp combo and added a baked potato as a side, and salad bar. The fried shrimp is the star for me and the steak is standard. You can't go wrong with baked potato. Every order comes with a piece of garlic toast which is so yummy. I haven't tried any of the soups or other foods at the salad bar, so I can't comment on those. The dessert is good, especially the frozen yogurt bar. The atmosphere is what you'd expect, a basic All American restaurant with that nostalgia factor that takes me back in time. The service here is friendly too. I was there this past saturday night. The place is dated, very depressing not as clean as it should be.. Food is way too over priced for the quality and the quantity they serve.. I had the lobster steak dinner with garlic mashed potatoes . I upgraded the 6oz to 8oz and ended up paying about $37... The cut of meat was so tough to cut, tough to chew, even though I ordered medium well done. I am extremely surprised how this disgusting place is still open. I feel bad for the people who eat here. Low quality and portions are just not proportionate to the price and quality . I ate my food in a matter if 10 minutes and got out of there as soon as i could. It is also in a tough panorama city neighborhood. Sizzlers is a nice inexpensive place to have a weekday or weekend dinner with the family. Their food is always consistent but their soft serve machine was broken. A judgement free zone where you can wear your pajamas to dinner or have a beer as you watch soccer on the big screen TV's. read more

Been going to Sizzler for about 22 years now and I have never had a problem , food is always great, the clam chowder is delicious, my steak was cooked perfectly, the cheese toast is the best and the service is always great. We were disappointed when "our" Sizzler in Lake Balboa closed after patronizing it for nearly 50 years but we are fortunate to have this store on Van Nuys Boulevard still open during the Covid-19 crisis. I called for a take out order and spoke to a very nice woman who took my order and patiently answered my questions. When I arrived to pick up my order she was just as pleasant. I ordered the Shrimp Skewer Family Feast ($30 through April 30, 2020) figuring we could get several meals from it. I had the same experience as Carly T. See her recent review. I walked in at 2:49 pm on this Saturday (9/28) and waited 5 minutes before anyone appeared at the register. I ordered the salad bar which includes the right to the soup selection. Only there were no spoons available. So after I filled the cup with soup it took me several minutes to track down someone who could get me a spoon. A waitress came around offering bread, but after I indicated that Yes I would like the bread she disappeared and never returned. The food itself was satisfactory, but the physical appearance of the facility looked kind of dumpy. Overall this Sizzler was understaffed and I will not be returning anytime soon. read more
