Brings back childhood memories. It was great. I was hesitant coming here at first but we we wanted lunch prior to viewing a house for rent in the Evergreen area. Little did we know the property management never got back to us. Things happen for a reason and I believe it was to draw us to Sizzler. I haven't been since I was probably 10. Service was great. We could get our own beverages but the woman taking care of that section was not only nice, fast, and made us feel very welcomed. At the front, I ordered so much. I asked for 2 buffet and Gavin and I each ordered an entrée. I ordered the grilled chicken club and Gavin ordered a kid's cheese burger. Every table gets complimentary what looks and tasted like Texas toast. Food was sub-par but I loved the selections and the service we received. The buffet was awesome: clam chowder, chicken wings, salad, nachos, coleslaw, macaroni and cheese, among many others. If I could give this place a zero, it would be a 0. It is extremely unsanitary. The restroom was filthy with feces everywhere. And to top it off, there was a cockroach running around while we were eating. It is super unfortunate for the waitress who was working really hard. Ultimately, this place needs new management. I've driven by this location hundreds of time in 25+ years but finally took a step inside. It's just one of those times where you want American diner type of food and their options/menu is broad. Sometimes you just want that kind of old style eatery. The salad and soup bar is very expansive, lots of options. Parking and seating is no issue here, very big location. Service is great, the manager walks around and greets you. The staffs are on point with cleaning. I have pictures I can provide of the menu prices on the wall and on the counter. They specify that the smaller plates include a "create your own salad". The manager at the counter said that the salad is NOT create your own, but they bring it to you pre-made. Instead a trip to the salad bar is an extra $6.99 which is not mentioned on the menu. I drove 20 minutes to this Sizzler because it is the only one in San Jose, and I spent 5 minutes studying an incorrect menu which the manager would not honor and said could not be updated or changed. This is false representation "bait and switch". I understand prices have gone up everywhere but menus need to be updated to reflect that. Aside from that the salad looked neglected. Then nacho cheese was congealed like it had been sitting there all day. The taco beef was greasy as hell Sad because I have food memories of the one in Redwood City. This Sizzler is a classic spot!!! I love their salad bar options. The staff ensures to always keep it clean and stocked. It has been a wonderful place to hold our large group gatherings. The staff members are super attentive and friendly and always ensures that we are well taken care of. I always get the steak and crispy shrimp!!! Can't forget about the soft serve ice cream machine. We eat here every time we are in town. When my wife and I were dating (35 years ago) is was one of the few nicer places we could actually afford. We had the combo dinner this visit, I can't tell you what the chicken actually was because it didn't taste, look or smell like chicken. The steak was ok, but overcooked. The staff at the sizzler off of Aborn has always been so accommodating to my friends and I! We have lots of birthday parties and even when it's last minute they accommodate us to the fullest! The food was good, we came in at opening and our server didn't seem to like us. It was some older black gentleman who seemed like he didn't want to be there. Gave us only 2 pieces of bread. I've been going to sizzler for over 20 years and haven't had a server act like the food comes out of their check. Our steaks came out and we asked for ours medium rare. I'm a steak guy and my steak came out almost blue rare. So I asked the server to heat it up a bit more so he did that for me. The server really messed up our experience because of his crappy attitude. Every request we had, it seemed like he didn't want to do itml. Asking for boxes with 2 patrons and you only give us one. If you don't want to be at work, then don't go to work. I understand because he was the only server there but your attitude definitely messes up the experience for your patrons. I was not aware that you pay upfront, including tip, even though there is table service. Bring cash if you want to leave your tip at the end. The food was not good. We felt it was noticeably worse than our meal service meals. The lemonade I ordered tasted like the cup still had dish soap in it. About halfway through the meal, I adjusted my tip at the front desk. They asked me to adjust the value on the receipt. Had the salad buffet yesterday for dinner. Haven't eaten at a salad bar since 2019, so this felt almost normal. The salad bar was fresh and well stocked. I went to the Sizzler in San Jose in Aborn Square and I was sorely disappointed. First of all, I had a birthday special $5 off deal from the e-club, which they refused to honor, insisting I needed to have it printed out when the small text says plainly that you only need to present it on your mobile phone. Oh well. So I ordered steak and lobster and paid extra for the 8 oz version, but the steak was still small, I couldn't even tell if they upgraded it or not. And the lobster tail was just a scam. They gave me a an empty shell with a tiny snickers bar sized piece of lobster taped stuck to the back. I've had lobster tail before and it definitely wasn't a full sized tail. Went here on Friday, and we frequent this place a lot on nights we get home from work and don't want to cook, the place is good for the type of place that is, it's no Outback, Mastro's or any other fancy place, but the food is good, quality very decent, and let's not forget their famous cheese bread! It's on the "East side" of SJ, but we love going here because the price is right $$, quality is very decent, and we love one particular waitress there, her name is Jenny, she's such an awesome person and hostess, goes above and beyond for sure, makes you feel welcomed like it's her house! Oh Sizzler's! A huge part of my childhood. My dad loves this place and it was where we would go almost every Friday during the 90's in Hayward. It was a family tradition. We saw a segment from Anthony Bourdain's show, and we decided it was time to give them a visit. Not much has changed since then, and that's not a bad thing. They have one of the best salad bars and honestly, the best clam chowder. The cheese bread is to die for as well. Also, try the fried shrimp here, as they are hard to beat. You order up front and go from there. It's not very expensive, and is actually pretty good overall. Don't expect fine dining, but expect to have a hearty meal, unless you go for all salad. The servers were friendly and attentive and the kitchen was quick with getting out meals out. I came in today at about 5:30 and ordered a steak kids meal to go for my baby, and I went ahead and tried a piece(as parents so before giving to a child) and I almost fell out this steak was so fresh and flavorfil! We made a stop today after a day at Raging Waters. We stopped mostly due to nostalgia: My husband and I were servers at one of Sizzler's competitors, Ponderosa Steakhouse, exactly 20 years ago. Eek! Experience was just fine! We did learn that the salad bar/buffet doesn't come with entrees. We were surprised but kept it moving. Our daughter had the buffet as it had everything she wanted to eat. My husband ordered steak and unlimited shrimp - no sharing allowed, but was sad to learn the salad bar didn't come with it. I ordered the bourbon steak tips and added the salad bar for 5.99. Everything was cooked as requested and we had a nice experience. We were rung up by Miss Michelle at the front and assisted the rest of the time a very kind gentleman whose name I cannot remember. What I did notice was that on our receipt, it listed Miss Michelle as our server so I opted not to add a tip onto it as I signed, making a mental note that I will tip in cash once we are introduced to our actual server. It ended up not being her and it appeared that her AOR is the front where she rings up customers, answers questions, and completes other necessary duties. I did not witness her serving any diners. Anyway, moving forward, I did tip in cash at it was a completely different person who was our server than what was listed on my receipt. In the comfort of my ignorance, I will admit, I do not know what their procedure is, but I do know we get to pick our seats and that's where it gets confusing about remembering who gets what tips based on who sat where. But also, do they split tips? Which to me is not a decent practice, but that's just me. My request to you, as a future diner at Sizzler, please make an effort to tip cash to your actual server when dining it. If one person is ringing up at the front and getting listed as the server for each and every receipt, there might be a little bit of unfairness occurring. As the years have pass this place has slowly gone downhill. The salad bar was the best thing they had going for them. I always had the chicken noodles soup there it was one of the best items they had in the salad bar. Now they have taken it out and replaced it with some wack tomato soup. I'm so happy that this Sizzler is still open. So many have closed. I ordered the Steak and all you can eat crispy shrimp. Steak was cooked perfectly, and the shrimp were crispy and hot. Way too much food so I took home half of the steak to eat later. Still nothing better than their cheesy bread. My mom had the salad bar and she raved o how they kept the ingredients fresh and full.
