Dress code ranges from business casual to cocktail--this is definitely a special occasion type spot, with prices to match the luxury vibe. We took our MIL here for an early birthday dinner and she was floored by the views and the sunset. Almost everything is farm to table and you can taste how fresh everything is. We ordered: Cesar salad, fried stuffed squash blossoms, chicken parm, filet minon, New York strip steak, potato smash with horseradish and candied carrots as sides. All the protein mains were literally cooked to perfection. My filet was so tender and juicy, and the sides went so well with it. We topped off our evening with espresso martinis and the mocha mousse which was also very decadent. My husband booked this restaurant for my birthday dinner and yet we got no single gesture was provided from the restaurant besides just a "happy birthday" greeting from our waiter. Normally this would be ok if GV were not a high-end restaurant. The service is really below the expectation. We were seated while the chairs on the table is all tugged in and the server never bother to pull them out ( we ofc did that ourselves)... What's more... I just tried to double confirmed my dish when I heard a different name from the server. When I asked the question, the server was clearly annoyed and gave us an attitude... Long overdue update. Came here to celebrate yet another anniversary. The parking situation sucks, they don't have enough spaces and people pile in high wherever there's an inch of space. The deviled eggs were deep fried which was interesting but it worked. Had the chicken parm which came with two big pieces but no side, for the price point, I was hoping for at least some potatoes. I have gone a handful of times with family and my partner, and we have all had fond memories and experiences here. Definitely make a reservation as they can get pretty booked on certain nights - you wouldn't want to make the drive up and have to wait for a table. You have the option to sit indoors or outdoors- trust me, you'll want to sit outdoors and truly enjoy the view. If you are visiting a little later in the evening, don't worry as they have heaters by nearly every table. The staff here are very kind and incredibly attentive. They are very knowledgeable and truly make the experience all the better. OKAY THE FOOD: * Pricing is on the higher side, however the dishes here are delicious and made from their farm across the street. This is definitely a more upscale restaurant. * Cesar Salad: I'm not one to rave about a salad, but my GOODNESS do I LOVE their Cesar Salad. I requested to change seats - either inside or outside. The hostess gave me a very hard time about this, when there were still open tables. I was ignored a couple times until our waiter saved the day and swiftly moved us. For a restaurant that wants to be high end, I would also expect high end service. The attitude I got from the hostess was very off putting, while our waiter was excellent. There should be more consistency with all the staff. The food itself was better than I expected. We ordered the prime rib, ravioli, Caesar salad, and arancini. The prime rib was cooked perfectly and the ravioli portion was very generous. The view during sunset is beautiful and the main reason for coming here. The inside of the restaurant kind of has an old school classic vibe. We went to The Grandview to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. The staffs were friendly and welcoming upon arrival. We were seated at a table that was in the middle of the outdoor area but still were able to see the view (wish we we could sit on the outermost seats!). We came at sunset time and the view was absolutely stunning! Food wise, we got prime rib ravioli and fillet mignon. The ravioli was filled with generous portions of prime rib and short ribs. The fillings were super tender and creamy. The fillet mignon was slightly crispy on the outside yet super tender on the inside (we asked for rare). The portion was pretty big too. They also had a long list of wine and cocktail/mocktail selections. We ordered the special dessert of the day (creme brûlée). Initially they wrote "happy birthday" on the plate, but the waiter soon noticed it and quickly replaced it with "happy anniversary" for us (thank you!). It's definitely a place to go out for a lovely date night or even business-casual early dinner - we saw both but conformed to the former. Seafood Catch of the Day {2/5} hubs had the fish dish and he said it was really bland. It lacked any flavor at all. Overall rating: 3.5* I'll start with what I like: both the salad and prime rib is excellent. I would highly recommend the 22 oz prime rib for sharing. It's tender and portion size is great. Seating is also great if you visit on a nice weather and sit outside for the city lights view. But, I was a bit disappointed by the chicken dish(pollo piccata). Chicken was dry and the crème brûlée was okay too. The top sugar caramelized layer is super thin and not as crispy as other places, felt like it's a weird ratio of just custard. Lastly, the parking situation is not ideal. Parking lot is small/full and even the street parking was packed by the time we came. Went to The Grandview for their Valentine's Day 4 course menu and overall had a really nice experience. For the first course, my fiancée and I split the lobster bisque and the scallop arancini. Both were solid. The bisque was rich and flavorful, and the arancini was phenomenal nice crisp on the outside with good flavor inside the scallop was perfect. Second course, we tried both raviolis, the braised short rib and the lobster. The short rib was definitely our favorite. Super flavorful and just felt more balanced overall. The lobster ravioli was good, but the short rib one is the one I'd go back for. For the main, we both ordered the prime rib. It was decent, not bad at all, but it's not House of Prime Rib level. It wasn't the most tender cut we've ever had, but still enjoyable. Dessert wise, we tried both options, the lava cake and the key lime cheesecake. Both were good, but we both preferred the cheesecake. It had that perfect sweet and tart balance and didn't feel too heavy. Overall we enjoyed our meal at The Grandview. Went here with family, party of 4 the Saturday after Christmas. Only reason why there aren't less stars is that our waiter was outstanding as was the remainder of the staff. The restaurant was still "decorated" for Christmas...well more or less. The poinsettas were dead the decor was falling off of various pieces (see pic of the "Grand View") First advice be prepared to plan time for parking. The lot is small but there is parking in the area along the road. You enter to a cute vintage bar and live band. The front desk staff was great and polite and understood the parking challenge. Although we made reservations for inside we were asked if the patio was okay. I said as long as it wasn't cold and she remarked it was "very warm" which it was not warm. We had to keep our jackets on throughout dinner. The one upside we thought would be the "grand view" BUT nope just a view of plastic siding not even zipped together to keep the patio warm. Plastic isn't even clear so the view isn't a view whatsoever. (They should replace with roll up doors with clear glass so that the view is actually grand) Now for the food we ordered the arancini which was very delicious. And also ordered the Deviled Eggs "GV Style" and would say these were just okay. The egg is deep fried and the "tar tar" is in a creamy mix unless you eat as a single bite texture will mess with you. The best thing we ate by far was the Agnolotti (braised shirt rib raviolis) The prime rib was cooked as ordered, but due to having limited "sauce" maybe 1/4 cup and it being so cold outside my steak got cold quickly and ended up taking most of it home. The potato puree was bland and flavorless. Two people ordered Agnello Brasato (Lamb Shank) which was a big disappointment overall it was a stew more or less. Everything in broth, not ideal. The old fashioneds were good. Our martinis (Dirty Martini, Lemon Drop & Apricot Royale (apparently made with the farm across the streets fruit!) Were all warm. I had to ask for the lemon drop to have an extra shake so it didn't come warm. Shared the tiramisu and it was well made and served cold which was unique. Service was great. Ambiance overall was great. Couldn't see the view at all except for near a service area. The decorations on Christmas weekend were all falling down or were dead. Parking is very limited, so I recommend arriving early in case you need to wait for a bit. We were immediately greeted by our server who was very friendly and helpful. I've been back a couple years ago for a birthday dinner with a group of ladies and enjoyed eating outside. I recently went for a romantic dinner and sat outside to enjoy the sunset. Overall, we were very disappointed. We came here to celebrate our anniversary and expected a much better experience, especially given the price point and reputation of the restaurant. We ordered the tomahawk steak, which was advertised as the best item on the menu. We specifically ordered it medium rare, as is typical for a steak of that quality. The waiter confirmed that the steak would be large enough for two people and came with three sides to share. For the $200 price point we felt this would be fair. However, the tomahawk we received was surprisingly small and not enough to feed the two of us, even after appetizers, which was very underwhelming. In our experience ordering tomahawk steaks at other restaurants of equal caliber they are typically more than sufficient for two people, if not even larger parties. To make matters worse, the steak was very clearly overcooked. It was nowhere near medium rare and had very little red center. When we brought this up to the waiter, he insisted that it was medium rare, but the steak we were served (and the photos we took shown below) clearly show otherwise. For a steak priced over $200, this was extremely disappointing and far below what we expected. Since this was our anniversary dinner, we were also surprised that there was little acknowledgment or effort made to help celebrate the occasion, which many restaurants typically do. I've always been curious about The Grandview, despite some mixed reviews. A recent TikTok review convinced me to book a reservation for my anniversary. Let's talk special occasion destinations! The Grandview definitely fits the bill as a special occasion spot, though perhaps just that. We started our evening on the recently opened lower level, enjoying cocktails at the bar with spectacular views of the valley. The drinks were delicious and well-balanced, and the bartender and servers were friendly and helpful. For dinner, we moved upstairs to the outdoor patio. Even though the sun was a bit hot, the view and sunset were absolutely worth it. We began with the Arancini Nostre, which were piping hot and very tasty (as far as arancini go), and the Hamachi which had great flavor, though it was a little "cooked" from the citrus, but still tender and fresh. I had the Agnolotti Della Montagna which was absolutely delicious. The meat filling of the house made ravioli was tender and flavorful and the pasta perfectly cooked. The sauce was rich and creamy and perfectly seasoned. I would definitely order it again. My husband had the Gnocchi Pesto Alla Genovese which actually came as penne pesto and was good but unspectacular. We were served a very nice dessert for our anniversary which I believe was their signature cheesecake. One mistake we made was to try to pace our meal by not ordering everything at once. The restaurant was quite busy, and it's clearly a popular place for celebrations like birthdays, anniversaries, and first dates. While the servers were incredibly attentive to special requests, it did lead to some slower service. For example, our server forgot our amuse bouche and took a while to return to take our entree order. So overall we had a good experience, but this is definitely not an every day destination. The restaurant definitely lives up to its name: views of the South Bay are fantastic from here, and there are lots of photo opportunities. Being vegetarian, the options were pretty limited for us, so we went with two pastas: a pesto gnocchi and a "vegebiatta" ravioli. Both tasted fresh and delicious. Upon seating, we got a complimentary and tasty amuse bouche consisting of peach gazpacho, as well as a great focaccia bread served with olive tapenade. We were able to pre-order a bottle of house wine to be at our table. The location is amazing to catch the sunset over the bay. The food is amazing and the drinks are even better. The Tri-Color Salad: This was a refreshing and yummy option. The pickled onions and goodess dressing added a nice zing. The Braised Short and Prime Rib Ravioli: This was the highlight! The only minor issues experienced during our visit; the bread came out when we were almost done with our meal. We had to ask if we could get some bread when the Ravioli dish came out. I had a disappointing experience with The Grandview Restaurant in San Jose. I made a reservation for February 14th at 5 PM through Yelp and OpenTable, and it was confirmed. However, when their team called to confirm the reservation, I tried returning their call multiple times to the provided 408 number, but no one picked up. I also called the restaurant directly several times with no response. Eventually, when I managed to get through, they informed me that my reservation had been canceled because they couldn't reach me. To make matters worse, they claimed they had texted me, but I received no such texts, and I have records of all my calls to prove it. This lack of communication and the last-minute cancellation left me very frustrated, especially for such an important occasion. I hope they improve their customer service and communication in the future. They called me on Sunday and left a voicemail instructing me to call a 408 number to confirm my reservation, which I did a few minutes later. Nobody picked up. I tried calling a few days later multiple times, but still, no one answered. Finally, when I called the 650 number today, they informed me that my reservation was canceled. read more

The view was spectacular. We were there celebrating our dad's 85th birthday. The Resturant offers a preorder of wine or bubbly to be at the table when you arrive. Our bubbly was at the table but was in the sun for some time, so it wasn't very cold. our waiter (Christopher) was not aware of the birthday or that the bubbly was preordered until I pointed it out to him.. we were given menus which included a four course price fix menu, when taking our orders we were told that it could not be ordered by one person. I ordered a bone in ribeye steak and was surprised that it came pre sliced on my plate. It also had shrimp on my plate that was ordered by another guest at our table. the ribeye did taste good but I I was surprised I was not told it would be pre sliced. Two from our group ordered the prime rib. One medium and one medium rare. The medium rare was not warm and overall the prime rib was very tough to cut with lots of fat. The Grandview Restaurant has exceeded all of our expectations. We went for my birthday and it was a really special occasion. We were able to sit on the patio with an amazing view of the South Bay. We were able to book a reservation right before sunrise so we had enough time to enjoy the sunlight and then watch the sunset during dinner. There are definitely some nice area for great memorable photos. We started off with drinks and the sangria was amazing. It was a great combination of sweets and fruity alcohol. We both ended up getting a second since it was so delicious. The food was so delicious and huge portions. I really enjoyed how my steak was cooked and it was so flavorful. My husband enjoyed his spaghetti and meatballs as well. We ended getting sides to share with the potatoes and vegetables. It definitely got chilly once the sun had set, but they do have the heating lamps and that made it so nice. Our waiter and waitstaff were so amazing, they really made our dinner special. We decided to try this place after hearing about the great view, but it fell short of expectations. Parking is tough, so I highly recommend arriving early. They do offer live music during sunset, which was a nice touch. For an expensive meal, we expected top-tier service, but our waitress was cold and unwelcoming. She aggressively pressured my friend to order more even after being refused, and completely ignored our table for the rest of the night. To top it off, the steak was dry .
