Celebrating my friend's birthday! We had Double cut pork chop and. Petite filet with sides of mushrooms, cream corn and mashed potatoes. We also ordered us some Lemon drops drinks . Our service was 10/10. . [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself was nice and lovely with a touch of piano music playing[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] .

    Double pork chop

We ordered takeout from Mastro's on Saturday, and unfortunately, the experience was really disappointing. Ordering was much more difficult than it should have been--the website wasn't working, and when we called, we were left on hold for a long time. When we finally received our food, it was cold, which was especially frustrating given the prices. The double pork chop was also extremely small compared to what we've been served when dining at the restaurant. It honestly looked nothing like the portion we expected. I understand that takeout can be different from dining in, but for the prices Mastro's charges, I expect the food to be just as good and the portions to be consistent. We paid a premium price and unfortunately did not feel like we received a premium experience. Hopefully this was just an off night, but based on this experience, I would hesitate to order takeout again.

Such a nice place but it's always something here. Last time the porterhouse steak came out with no flavor and my wife was offered table salt to remedy it. This time, we waited an hour for our steaks to come out after we had our salad. We had to ask what the status of our food was, not the waiter alerting himself that we've been sitting there for an hour, so our waiter said let me check on that. He came out ten minutes later with our food and no sorry, no mention of the wait, no nothing. It seemed that half the food was waiting cause the fish was dry and the steak was just a tad under cooked for medium rare. Either they brought my wife the wrong steak, as she ordered the peppered crusted strip, or the peppered crusted strip is not very peppered because it was a standard steak. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Its such a nice place but two for two on weird experiences.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We were originally a larger party, but a few friends fell out and we ended up with the final four. Tho I'm sure we made up with it in ordering. The bigger table came in handy. The server was very understanding. I was pescatarian at the time, so did not take part in all the meat offerings. But I've been to other locations and their steaks are usually pretty good. Their seafood is for a steakhouse. The sea bass was moist and slippery. The lobster bisque was creamy and decadent. One thing that's always consistent at Mastro's is their cocktails. I always get the grey goose martini and it never disappoints. Parking here is awful. I don't ever remember Valley Fair being this bad. Plus, now that you have to pay for parking, you'd think it would get better. Anyways, basically come early to give yourself enough time to find a spot. Good for a special occasion dinner since it can get pricey. REVIEW #4042

    Asparagus sautéed with garlic
    Diane W.

We had a lovely dinner here for my husband's birthday. Our server, Val, took excellent care of us. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had made reservations for dining on the second floor. It's really nice and classy up there and not as loud as the bar area downstairs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When we were brought menus, my husband was surprised to see a birthday greeting with his name at the top of his menu. That was such a nice touch. We started off the night with some drinks and appetizers. My husband tried the Dalmore flight of whiskies and I had the Mastro margarita. We tried the sautéed scallops, French onion soup, and lobster bisque. The scallops were prepared perfectly. You get three large scallops in a savory sauce with tomatoes, garlic, and Parmesan cheese served with three long garlic toasts. My husband enjoyed his French onion soup. The lobster bisque was huge. Actually, both soups were quite large. Val topped my lobster bisque, table side, with cognac-infused cream and chives. It was creamy, rich, and delicious. I was surprised at the amount of lobster pieces in it. It was full of lobster. For our mains, my husband ordered the 23 oz dry-aged bone-in ribeye and I ordered the 14 oz bone-in filet mignon with bearnaise sauce on the side. We also ordered the 1-pound loaded baked potato and sautéed asparagus for our sides. Both our cuts of meat were prepared to a perfect medium-rare. My husband's ribeye was huge. He loved it. My bone-in filet mignon was so delicious and flavorful. It paired well with the bearnaise sauce. The asparagus was sautéed with garlic and butter. It was very flavorful and a good choice to have with the steak. The baked potato was a beast. It was so big that we could only get through half of it. The bacon they used was so smoky and crispy. It was loaded with butter, sour cream, cheddar cheese, bacon, and chives. It was perfect. At this point, we were so full. They wrapped up all our leftovers to take home. They brought my husband a birthday dessert. It was a butter cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream with fresh fruit and a huge side plate of fresh whipped cream. I couldn't believe how big the plate was for the whipped cream. The dessert was sweet and rich and the whipped cream was sweetened just right and went perfectly with the dessert. Our experience here was excellent. Customer service was top notch. They really go above and beyond to make sure you are have the best experience. Everything was amazing and we will definitely be back soon. A special thank you to Val for all her tips and recommendations and for making my husband's birthday extra special.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Visited as a party of 6 with two babies (strollers) and it was a great experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had reservations and were seated upstairs in a room with two other large parties. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Luckily they had elevators and the restaurant itself is pretty big.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the calamari and the bread basket as appetizers and both were good. The bread basket had a decent variety of breads which was nice. My husband and I got the chef's cut ribeye chop to share and it was good portion for two. It came cooked perfectly and was already cut. We ordered a bunch of sides but the gnocchi and Mac and cheese were my favorite. The French fries were also pretty good. For dessert we had the chocolate cake and butter cake. Honestly thought the butter cake wasn't as good as I last remembered it to be. The chocolate cake didn't taste like your usual cake because it's flourless which I didn't realize until I went home. Very unique but wasn't for me. Overall, service was good but they did forget an order of seabass for someone at our table. They did comp our desserts to make it up which was nice of them. I do recommend trying this spot!

Pro tip: Get the second floor table that overlooks the courtyard

I love Mastro's! The food is incredible. Their bone-in ribeye is so good! Their crab legs and oysters taste fresh and delicious. The mashed potato side dish is the perfect compliment. And the butter cake dessert may make you faint from how good it is.  [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance makes you feel good even when you enter. The bar on the first floor with the piano/singer is elegant and fun.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]  The only reason I couldn't rate this 5 stars overall is because the service fell off just a bit towards the end. We finished our meals and desserts and it took quite a long time to close out the bill. But I would rank this restaurant among the top, top here in the Silicon Valley area. It also helps that it's in a lively part of San Jose, near Valley Fair Mall and Santana Row.

Delicious delicious delicious!! I think their rib-eye is one of the best I've had in the bay. Straight up melts in your mouth. The calamari portion was huge and has the perfect texture and crunch to it. The lobster mash potato is the perfect balance of rich and creamy and seafoody. The tuna cappacio I feel is okay. We were recommended the wagyu roll but didn't get that this time, will definitely try it next time! They also give assorted bread, I thought it was just ok but it was an interesting assortment to try. Definitely will go back again for the ribeye and calamari!!

Went here for a Saturday dinner to celebrate my brother's birthday. It was a great experience! Mastro's is located in Valley Fair so while it may take some time to enter the mall itself, parking isn't that bad. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself is gorgeous with beautiful decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Immediately felt like a good experience just by looking at it from the outside. The service is also excellent, as you're greeted and tended to immediately. Our server was George and he was awesome! He was kind and polite, and was very helpful with our orders. The food was absolutely delicious. You get complimentary bread which is an assortment of different flavors and textures. For our appetizer we got the calamari which were in generous sized pieces. Our main courses were the porter house and the Kansas cut, which they were able to slice ahead of time for us since we were sharing family style. We also had warm buttered plates. Our sides were the mashed potatoes and scalloped potatoes which were creamy and divine. We also got a chocolate cake for my brother with a heavy serving of whipped cream, all of which were sweet and yummy. Overall, a great place to go for a special event or even just a date. Will definitely go again!

If you want to feel like money and quality, visit this place. For the first time ever I had a good plate of food! Flavors were found in every dish! Service was amazing, I believe it was the manager that was going around after people were served and he asked how we were doing, we stopped him to inform we were not a fan of a certain drink and he kindly removed it from our bill and replaced it with something else. Best place for a memorable dinner! With reservations, service was quick and top tier. P.s. come with a lot of money! It's worth it!

Our party of four visited on a Sunday evening with a reservation and were seated promptly on the second floor. The first floor appears to be more of a bar and lounge area, complete with a live piano player and singer, which created a wonderful ambiance. Our server that evening was excellent (unfortunately I didn't catch his name). He recommended sharing the tomahawk steak, porterhouse, and lobster tails, along with half portions of several sides -- French fries, grilled asparagus, mushrooms, and mac and cheese -- which worked perfectly for our group. We began with delicious cocktails and Caesar salads, and paired the steaks with a bottle of Cabernet to share. To finish the evening, we enjoyed the butter cake and chocolate cheesecake, both of which were outstanding. My friends had never been to Mastro's before, and they thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. We're already looking forward to returning -- perhaps next time we'll sit on the first floor near the bar to enjoy the live music.

Amazing service, generous portions, and great food! Came here on a Saturday for dinner to celebrate a Birthday and really enjoyed the experience! Our server was super friendly, offered great recommendations, and went out of his way to accommodate our schedule and make us feel special. In terms of service, one point of improvement would be for the hostess stand. Even though we had a reservation at an early hour and didn't see many people, it still took us awhile to be seated. The ambiance is what you would imagine a steak house to be. Though, the table setup did feel a little crowded. In terms of food, the bone marrow is a highlight and a must try! It is one of the best I've had in the Bay Area. They pair it with sides (bread and a salad?) which made the flavor really standout. The portion size is also very generous, which was a theme of our meal. The cocktails were also amazing, and they actually give you 3x the portion other places give. It felt like having 3 drinks for the price of one, haha. We all got steaks and they were delicious and MASSIVE. One disappointment was the Brussels sprouts - I didn't taste any seasoning and it basically just tasted boiled. Dessert made up for that though! They gave us a giant slice of free chocolate cake and even the desserts we ordered were huge. We couldn't finish everything, so we packed it to go and everything literally lasted us another 3 meals. It's so rare these days to find a place that is both delicious and extremely generous with the food portions. I highly recommend this place and I'd definitely come again!!

I didn't know that you could call for a reservation, or get on their waitlist with Yelp. I was going to do my order to go, when I was asked if I wouldn't mind sitting at the bar. Not at all. I was seated right away, and I was helped by Allison, who was also tending bar. She was a very nice lady, and she took very good care of me. The restaurant has. A nautical theme to it. I decided to go with the Cajun chowder, and the softshell crab po' boy. . My food comes quickly, and the order was huge! It was a very good, rich chowder, with just a tiny bit of a "zip" from the Cajun spices. They definitely gave it a good flavor. There were lots of goodies inside. The one thing about the chowder, was they didn't take out the bay leaves, and I did get a couple.. I just put them off to the side. I'm not going to take off a star, because the chowder was so good. Hey, It happens.... The po' boy was huge! The softshell crab was not over breaded. I could taste the crab with no problem, and it was a little bit sweet, a little bit savory, with that wonderful "crabby" flavor. The roll was a soft roll, , but it still held up to the sandwich extremely well The lettuce, and tomato were crisp and fresh . The Cajun fries, had a little bit of a zip to them, but not too much. they came with ketchup, and their house Cajun sauce. I didn't even touch the ketchup. The sandwich already had some Cajun sauce on it, I put a little bit more. The rest, I used to dip the fries. I only made it halfway through the sandwich, and the fries. The rest came back to my room with me for another great meal. I also got another little "tub" of that sauce to take with me. The entire time, Alison was so personable, , we chatted a little bit about this and that... She is definitely an asset to that restaurant. (Tell her boss to give her a raise...:). The price was extremely reasonable for such a wonderful meal, and they also have a military/veterans discount this was such a great meal, I would gladly come back here again. Thank you so very much

The corn tasted old, the shrimp and snow crab didn't taste fresh, and the snow crab clusters had barely any meat. By the time I cracked everything open, it felt like there was more shell than seafood. The mussel shells even had barnacles on them, which I've never seen here before. It made the seafood feel like it hadn't been cleaned as well as it should have. The garlic fries were crispy, but that's it. It was weird--I could see the garlic and was literally eating it, yet there was no garlic flavor. The garlic noodles used to be one of my favorite items because they were bold and packed with garlic. Now they've definitely toned the flavor down, and they're just not the same anymore. It's honestly disappointing because this place used to be one of my favorite seafood spots. I hope they can get back to what made this place so good, but based on today's experience, I can't recommend it anymore.

We arrived on a Saturday evening for dinner. The restaurant is located in a nice newer plaza area in Cupertino off the Vallco Parkway close to where Vallco Shopping Mall once stood. Parking is available in the parking garage in the plaza. The restaurant is medium size but maximizes the space efficiently with plenty of booths and tables for dine in. The modern decor is nice and sleek. Whereas the vibe is bustling and welcoming. We ordered the combo of 2 pounds of shrimp with heads on, garlic noodles, and 2 steamed rice. The seafood boil came out in a large silver bowl instead of the usual large clear bag. I found this to be much better in presentation. Everything was so delicious. The captain Loui sauce was so flavorful and sweet. The shrimp were plump and juicy. Garlic noodles were tasty. A couple of saucy yummy corn and potato were found in the bowl which was a good surprise. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Cap't Loui. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The combo options were a great deal. Free Ice cream popsicles for dessert were a nice surprise at the end. We will definitely be back as their seafood boil is one of the better options in the South Bay.

Honestly, it was a pleasant surprise. What makes this place stand out from most Korean restaurants is that you can enjoy so many classic Korean dishes in one meal--soy sauce marinated crab, fresh handmade cold noodles, stews, seafood hot pot, grilled intestines, stone pot bibimbap, and more--without having to visit multiple restaurants. Here are a few signature dishes we tried based on our server's recommendations: Bibim Naengmyeon (Handmade Spicy Cold Noodles) These noodles took a little longer to come out, and our server explained why--they don't start making the noodles until you place your order. The dough is pressed fresh in the kitchen before being served, giving the noodles a wonderfully chewy texture. Served with crushed ice, beef, cucumber, egg, and Korean pear, it was incredibly refreshing on a hot day. It's actually pretty rare to find restaurants in the Bay Area still making cold noodles fresh to order. Soy Sauce Marinated Crab I'd always heard that Korean soy sauce marinated crab is one of the country's most beloved seafood dishes and had seen it countless times in K-dramas, so I was excited to finally try it. The crab was well-marinated, with sweet, tender meat that was full of flavor, and even included quail eggs. If you love seafood, this is definitely worth ordering. Stone Bowl Bibimbap The stone bowl arrived still sizzling at the table. Mixed with beef, spinach, carrots, bean sprouts, fernbrake, and a sunny-side-up egg, every bite was delicious. My favorite part was the crispy golden rice that slowly formed at the bottom of the bowl. Gal Nak (Spicy Braised Beef Short Ribs with Octopus) (Mild Spice) This was perfect for sharing. The pot was filled with tender braised beef short ribs, octopus, tofu, rice cakes, enoki mushrooms, and vegetables. As everything simmered together, the rich broth soaked into every ingredient, making each bite even more flavorful. Every table receives a generous selection of Korean side dishes, including kimchi, japchae, fish cake, cucumber, pickled radish, seaweed, and more. Our server even came by to ask if we wanted free refills before we had to ask, which made the whole dining experience feel very welcoming. Besides the food, I also loved the atmosphere. Right at the entrance is a row of traditional Korean fermentation jars, and the restaurant is decorated with Korean-style ornaments throughout the space. The owner also stopped by to chat with guests and mentioned that he personally shops for fresh ingredients every morning to keep the food consistent in quality. The restaurant is conveniently located next to a Korean supermarket and has its own parking lot with plenty of parking spaces.

I was worried they would be close by the time I get there since they close at 5pm and it was 4:45pm when we got there. There is parking in the back that you can drive in and park. I told them I wanted 120 Pacific oysters and the worker brought it out right away. They were $120 but since I used my card to pay, they tacked on $5 to the price. I think you have to spend a certain amount to avoid the $5 credit card charge. They asked if I was ok with it and I told them it was fine and proceeded to pay. They have newspapers on the side that you can use to put in ur car so the water from the oysters doesn't get on the car carpet. The oysters were really good and tasted fresh. We ended up killing all 120 oysters last night. Highly recommend this place for oysters. I heard certain hours of the day, the place can be packed so be prepared just in case you can't park inside and have to find street parking.

It is in the general area with Cere Tea and Koi Palace. We arrived around 6PM and were seated immediately. We came for the seafood don and both got the UME with an addition of the ochazuke set. For $26 + 4.5 for the set, I think it's really worth the price and you get a good amount of fresh fish. Each bite felt like I was transported to Japan and eating a Kaisendon. Although we had to wait for a bit for the dashi soup to arrive , it was a delicious end to our meal. So comforting and hearty.
