    Hiyaykko Tofu

I've been spending a lot of time in Mountain View lately and was craving sizzling lunch but didn't want to drive back towards the location I usually go too. Luckily, I saw they had one in the area! I ordered my go to the Black Pepper Rice along with the Hiyakko Tofu. The black pepper rice came out on a sizzling hot plate, full of tender beef, corn, green onions, and just the right amount of seasoning. Mixing everything together while it cooked on the plate gave it that smoky, peppery flavor that makes this dish always so satisfying to get! The hiyakko tofu added a nice contrast to the meal with its silky chilled tofu topped with bonito flakes and soy sauce, light and refreshing, which balanced out the richness of the rice. The portions were generous, and the experience of cooking and mixing at the table made it fun and interactive. Definitely a solid spot if you're craving flavorful yet comforting food.

I got their regular beef pepper rice ($15.99) and it was good. I wish their beef pepper rice came with more items like onions. Nothing spectacular but still good. Service was fast and lots of tables open

I hadn't had Sizzling Lunch, or anything like it, in a couple of years, and suddenly got a craving. We stopped by the Mountain View location for a quick lunch, and the place was pretty empty. We were seated right away and placed our order using the tablet at the table. We got the karaage, cheese corn, and garlic beef pepper rice with an added egg. Everything came out fast and was really tasty! The rice plate was well-seasoned and paired nicely with the sauces at the table. The karaage came piled high and was super light and crispy, even though it was fried. Overall, just a solid spot for a quick and satisfying bite.

2/22/2025 Sizzling Lunch 1760 Miramonte Ave Mountain View, CA 94040 I went there on a Saturday for lunch looking for Katsu Curry. It's in the Blossom Valley mall next to the Safeway so lot's of parking. It was a little less than half full and I was seated promptly. You order by scanning the QR code on the table and launching the URL which opens the menu tab in the browser. I tapped the Pork Katsu with Curry Sauce and placed my order. The interior is contemporary bench and table seating with wood furniture. It was very clean with staff frequently cleaning the tables and floor. The curry sauce in a gravy boat came first. My food was brought to my table in a searing hot cast iron plate on a wood tray. The dish consisted of rice topped with corn and green onions, the breaded pork katsu, raw red onion and raw mushrooms on the sides. Make sure you stir the rice and vegetables immediately or the bottom of your rice will burn. I then poured the curry over my rice. The katsu breading was crispy but the cutlet was uneven in thickness so the thin part was dry and chewy but the thick part was tender and moist. The curry had good flavor and is not spicy. I'll round up to 4 stars and forgive the uneven cutlet experience, I'd repeat.

We came here on a chill relaxing Sunday. It was pretty cold outside so a sizzling hot plate for dinner was just what we needed to warm our belly up. We ordered my usual- Beef Udon with an added egg on top. We also ordered the Kurobuta Pork Belly Pepper Rice with an added egg on top. Both hot plates were delicious, sizzling hot and pretty satisfying. The fact that the food comes out on a loud sizzling teppan plate and you get to stir fried the food to get it cooked to your liking makes the dinner even more fun and refreshing. There are sauce bottles (garlic shoyu, spicy miso, teriyaki) on each table for you to personalize your dish by adding more flavor to your hot plate.

"Could have been better" This is the 2nd Sizzling lunch location I've visited. The first one was in Cupertino (of which I need to share that experience soon). Because of the Cupertino visit I craved to visit another. Since I had appts in the peninsula and South Bay, this was the one in the middle. This location is in a corner shopping center within a family type neighborhood. Came in to be greeted by a young man pointing to a table. Only 2 tables were occupied, otherwise it was close to empty at lunch time. This place is definetly self serve. A customer has to use the QR code affixed to the table. When in, one can view the menu of available offerings, as well as "out of stock" dishes and drinks. Once my dining partner scrolled and we talked what we were ordering, we then tapped our chosen items and submitted it from each others cell phones. The QR code captures the order but at the end one can pay entire order from the table or you can tell cashier to split bill and each person can pay, if one decided to split. About 8 min later, my own appetizer came out. it was the cold tofu block with a ume sauce. I never had ume sauce and I highly enjoyed the sweetish-tartish thin sauce under the cold soft tofu block. I have to learn to make that at home. Now for the sizzling plates. I ordered a chicken w/ udon noodles and house curry sauce and my dining partner ordered either a Katsu or tonkatsu and curry sauced with rice. Eating vessel which is a SUPER HOT black grill plate with our selected items soon arrived. The curry sauces for both orders actually come seperate in a silver sauce server that one can pour over while food is cooking. My plate was sizzling but the paper collar was not included. I poured my curry sauce and mixed everything while it still sizzled. the udon noodle had a QQ chewy texture, which I love. However the chicken scraps were tiny and super dry. Service was very minimal here. The only time the staff said anything was to announce the dish so he can place in front of us. That was the extent of any verbal communication. The staff never came back to ask if we were ok or even to ask if we wanted a water refill. (which is way different than the Cupertino location) We got up to pay in person and found one a young male on his cell phone. That was the straw the broke the camels back. We both commented to each other that customer interaction is simply pointing to a table and dropping food and staying away, We both decided not to return to this location.

Sizzling Lunch is a chain restaurant. This location is located in a good-sized plaza by Safeway. So there is a lot of parking available. It's a fairly new location. The ambiance is quiet. The inside is clean, with simple and modern decor. Convenient kiosks at each table to order from. Today's temperature was about 87° but they did not have the A/C on, so it was quite warm in the restaurant. Surprising too since their dishes come on a sizzling platter, you would think they have a good exhaust system as well. Hmmm... Takoyaki: deep-fried pancake balls filled with octopus topped with katsu, mayo sauce, and bonito flakes. Chicken Karaage: deep-fried marinated chicken. It comes with an aioli dipping sauce. Garlic Beef Pepper Rice: topped with green onions, corn, garlic butter, and fried garlic. The dish has garlic butter, so that infuses your dish with flavor. Otherwise, it's pretty plain, but it's highly recommended to add some sauces/spices that are already on the table like teriyaki sauce, or soy garlic, chili powder, black pepper, etc. I am glad I got the opportunity to try them out.

It was my first time trying a place like this. The concept was interesting and I was excited to try something new. Finding the place was easy and there was plenty of seating inside. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and seated without waiting. We were told to order on the tablet and they would bring out our food. Since all orders come out on a sizzling skillet you would think they would have the air circulating more or exhaust fans over each table. My friends said we would probably smell like a bbq when we left the restaurant. We all got the spicy beef rice and shared a side of veggies. The table also has some sauces to add to the dish, such as garlic, spicy miso, teriyaki sauce, and chili powder. I used all of it for seasoning all of which were good and added to the flavor. The meat slices were very thin so they cooked quickly but it was not as much meat as I had hoped given the prices. The drinks didn't show on the tablet what was sold out so we settled for whatever sugar cane juices they did have. I enjoyed my strawberry juice it was not too sweet and very refreshing. We all ate everything off our plates it was filling but not overly filling. I was hoping to to have extra to take home but was happy that we all enjoyed our plates. Next time I'll probably add an egg or get an appetizer to try. I like that they offered a variety of options and look forward to visiting again and trying something different.

Food 4/5 A spot if you're looking for something quick and filling. Food is average in terms of quality and ingredients. Definitely something you can make at home. Price is about $16-$18 depending on what you order. Service 4/5 Normal service, nothing to complain about. Ambiance 4/5 Located inside a plaza in a not so busy part of Mountain View. Quite spacious and not so busy on a weekday lunch.

Came here mid week for a sizzling night. The restaurant was pretty empty except for one other family there. We ordered the standard garlic beef and a tonkatsu curry as the mains. We also ordered an appetizer. The appetizer tofu was smaller than expected. The tonkatsu portioning wasn't bad. But the sizzling beef portion wasn't really enough food. Taste wise, I enjoyed my curry. Although would have wished to have had more sauce. But I'm sure I could have asked for more. Also keep in mind that garlic sauce they have on the table is really salty so don't add too much of that. :)

This is the first time I'm this disappointed with this place. I come here all the time but this time was quite disappointed. 1. They gave me very little beef. Barely surrounded the rice on the sizzling plate. 2. 25% of the supposed tender beef were tendon. That's not acceptable especially you gave so little beef. 3. They forgot to give us water and it wasn't ice cold when they finally brought it. So I paid $16 for rice and little beef with tough tendon. Not very cool

My family loves this place. We had dinner here last week. I got the cheesy curry rice with beef. The big chunk of butter made it super greasy. Taste wise I much prefer pepper lunch. Here I had to add a bunch of the sauces to add flavor. Easy order yourself via the screen attached to the table. Good fast service.

The restaurant was very pretty, with a sleek and floral theme. Also, I noticed some herby smell which was pleasant so extra hats off to that detail. I placed a reservation of 5 at 7:45 pm on a Friday night with me and my family, and we had no issues getting to our table. We were a bit late, however staff made sure that we get seated in no time. Once we got sat down, we got our menus and took some time to decide what to order. Our amazing friend and waitress Elizabeth made sure to give us time to thoroughly look through the menu and decide on what we were going to eat. She was very friendly and caring, and was so excited to take our order, which elevated her experience. Her suggestions were perfect for our family. We ordered the Mixto Clásico ceviche, 2 orders of truffle mac and cheese, Arroz Con Mariscos, Pollo A La Brasa (Half chicken), Beef Anticuchero Roll, and Lengua a La Parilla. In five minutes, the staff already brought the ceviche, which included calamari, fish, veggies, and the taro chips. It was refreshing and citrusy. After we finished that , then another 3 minutes goes by, and everything arrived. I was so shocked on how fast they serve especially because of how busy they were. All the dishes were so fresh and cooked to perfection. The mac was so creamy, cheesy, and delectable especially because of the truffles. The pollo a la brasa was cooked nice and tender, served with fries, and that yellow sauce was addicting, literally ON CRACK. The lengua was great, the mashed potatoes along with the lengua, shrimp, and spicy sauce gave it texture and flavor. The nikkei beef antichchuero roll I was surprised with. Sushi in a Peruvian restaurant? However, I did not expect to be one of the best and interesting rolls I have tried ever. The arroz con mariscos was my favorite by far. It really reminds me of a Spanish paella, with a seafood galore presented with a bed of rice and veggies. It was very filling and delicious. Of course, we couldn't just end there, we obviously had to go for dessert. We chose the Tres Leches cake, and it was presented with chocolate, caramel, and strawberry sauce which was sweet and smooth. Paired with the cake, it was so good and a genius combination. In the end, when leaving, our staff asked us if we needed any extra help with anything before we left, which was a very kind gesture. When we left, the staff kindly greeted us a warm goodbye, and thanked Elizabeth especially for helping us order these great assortments of dishes. In the end, we left with our stomachs full of food and great memories. I am already looking forward to my next visit here, and please, give this Peruvian spot a try, because you will never go back to any other ones besides this spot.

Quickly gave him my room number and said that the evenings service was atrocious. And we walked away. And if the service was bad, the food was worse. When I tell you a DiGiorno pizza is better than their rendition of a margarita pizza, it's not an exaggeration. My pizza literally had four tiny sprigs of basil. And their olive paste garnish on it is unnecessary. Their twist on the margarita pizza was not appetizing. I can't complain about their fries though. It was basically the only thing we ate that we enjoyed. Their guacamole was rough too. Lacked flavor. The dessert was the biggest disappointment, food-wise. It appeared to be a brownie baked on a chocolate chip cookie, cut into a pie slice. It was HARD. I gave up trying to get my spoon through it. Needed a steak knife. The ice cream was fine. After this experience, we decided we would not be eating at the restaurant for the rest of our time at the hotel. We went and picked up food or ordered in. The bartenders seemed nice, but once the afternoon hit, my daughter had to wait over 30 minutes for a Shirley Temple to be brought to the pool. After waiting too long I decided to get up and go to the bar and ask what was going on. Her Shirley Temple was sitting there at the bar, and they had accidentally put it in a typical glass, which is not permitted at the pool. The bartender apologized because the server who had taken my order at the pool, did not relay to the bartender that the order was for the pool area. All in all, I would never eat here again. As a local, it's disappointing because the ambience is nice. But the food is overpriced and not even close to being good. And as for the service? My God. This was officially the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at. Ever. When the manager of the hotel asked how our stay was, I casually mentioned that the restaurant was lacking in a lot of ways. But I didn't expand on the experience. However, I was surprised to see that the manager had taken off the meals from the charges to my room when I checked out. And I sincerely appreciate that. I never asked for it, but was appreciative as it was unexpected. Bottom line. The hotel is a nice stay, and I plan on staying again. But you couldn't pay me to eat at that restaurant.

As others have pointed out, to get to the restaurant, go inside and take the stairs or elevator to the third floor. We were greeted by a host and led to our table. They informed us that they were opening the windows soon for sunset. All the staff here seem really happy, which I think helps with the good atmosphere in the place. The decor is of course top-tier as it's housed in an RH. Per the waitress' recommendation, we ordered the Crispy Artichokes and my partner got the Whole Grilled Branzino. I ordered the Sea Bass and a Pomme Royal non-alcoholic drink. The Crispy Artichokes were SO good. I'd come back for those alone. The Branzino was good, and the Pomme Royal tasted like an apple pie. While the Sea Bass was good, I found it too buttery. Is that possible? The potato puree that came with it was really good though. A salmon dish came out initially, but after telling them I'd ordered the sea bass, it was remedied at no cost to me. At the end of the meal, they brought out a cookie with a candle for the birthday boy. Don't worry, they don't sing for you! Overall, I think this place is good vibes. I'd come back for an occasion. There's a patio you can enjoy that jackets the restaurant. We soaked in the sunset and views after eating.

Hubby made a reservation for 5:45pm on a Friday because other times were taken/blocked off. We arrived and the front hostess didn't smile. She just said hello but not in a friendly way. It seemed like her only job was to check our reservation. Then an older gentleman came over to walk us to our table. Also cold personality and did not speak/greet us. No one asked us if we were there for businesses or celebrating a special occasion. However, our head/main waiter was nice and attentive. He went over the menus. I didn't like anything on the cocktail menu so I just requested a French75 cocktail and the bartender did a good job with that. Ordered the sea urchin special for an appetizer, not my favorite but my husband loved it. I ordered the John Dory fish entree and we shared a side of brussels and ham w/ 8 cheese mac n cheese. The fish entree was presented beautifully but the flavors were mild. I think the most flavor I got was from the morel mushrooms. The mac n cheese came out bare and by that I mean it was coated because the cheese was so hot that it melted to the bottom of the bowl. We waited for it to cool down so that when we stirred it up the cheese actually coated the pasta. The brussels sprouts had little a little caramelization on them but both sides dishes were just okay on flavor. Neither stood out and honestly could have skipped the brussels. I forgot the name of the fish entree my hubby got but he said it was just okay too. After an hour of being there, still very few people there and were were pretty much the only ones outside on the deck (so not sure why the lack of reservation times). There was no light music or any other chatter so it was kind of odd. Overall we thought for the price point, the overall dining experience was not something we wanted to repeat. It is very challenging to find a nice restaurant for a special occasion and unfortunately we had a dinner...just not a 5 star dinner experience.

The sautéed green beans with fish sauce aioli were umami heaven. It was just as delicious as I remembered, when I visited Girl & The Goat in Chicago a few years ago. The sticky pork shank was tender and fell right off the bone. I made lettuce wraps with the pork, pickled veggies, and sauces provided - wow, everything tasted so delicious! The salad and side bar had a lot of good options and was way better than expected. But the real star was the endless selection of meats. Finished everything off with dessert and it was the perfect ending. Great food, great service, and a fun experience overall. Definitely coming back.

The meat selection was good, although I felt it wasn't as extensive as some other Brazilian steakhouses. My favorites were the Spicy Top Sirloin, Picanha, and Beef Ribs, all were incredibly tender, juicy, and full of flavor. While we enjoyed our meal, Espetus is still my favorite among all the Brazilian steakhouses I've tried. From the variety of meats to the quality of the salad bar, it continues to be my top choice. That said, Show de Carnes is still worth a visit, especially if you're in the Palo Alto area and craving a Brazilian steakhouse experience.

The bancheon alone blew me away. The scallion pancakes were amazing, I loved the ube mash, and most everything else: tofu, quail eggs, were good. The kimchi was not too sour like I've had elsewhere. The meats were all great paired with a variety of dipping options. They were very rich for sure do I wouldn't have this every day, but there was a good amount for the price, and each cut was so tender. Some more flavorful than others, but Each stood out with different tastes. Only thing I would change is the marinated rimbs were a bit sweet for our tastes but still delicious. The bibimbap and wagyu tofu soup (comes with rice) were great as well. The ice cream was okay. Overall I for sure would come again. The server was helpful giving recommendations, but he said the protons were small and we should order more. The protons were in fact huge, so lesson learned. Meyhouse Sunnyvale -- Excellent Food, but the Service Pacing Could Be Much Better…read more I tried the $44.95 three-course prix fixe lunch and chose the Köpoğlu as my meze, upgraded the main to the Adana Kebab for $3, and added the Künefe for $2. The food was the strongest part of the experience, and several things stood out more than I expected. The complimentary bread was excellent--warm, fragrant, and nicely textured. I also really enjoyed the green herb sauce served with it. The parsley and mint flavors were quite pronounced, almost grassy, but in a good way. It was fresh and aromatic and worked very well with the bread. The Köpoğlu was one of the highlights of the meal. The roasted eggplant, tomato sauce, garlic yogurt, and olive oil were very well balanced. I especially liked the garlic yogurt--the acidity, garlic, and creaminess were all present without any one element overpowering the others. The tomato added sweetness and acidity, while the olive oil rounded everything out. It was especially good with the bread. The Adana Kebab was also very good. My first bite came from the end of the skewer and was slightly dry, but once I got into the center, the meat was noticeably juicier. The char from the grill was excellent, and the lamb had a clear lamb flavor without being gamey. The chopped red pepper mixed into the meat also added another layer of aroma and flavor. Even the rice surprised me. It looked like plain white rice, but it was flavorful enough to eat on its own, with a noticeable buttery, almost milky aroma. The flatbread underneath the kebab was also very good after soaking up some of the lamb juices and fat. If I had one criticism of the main plate itself, it would be the proportion of onion-tomato salad to meat. The salad tasted fine, but for my preference, there was a little too much of it. I really enjoy the lingering flavor of grilled lamb, and while the rice and bread help carry that flavor, the raw onion and tomato act as a strong palate cleanser and erase it quickly. Since the meat portion was relatively small compared with the rice and salad, I would personally prefer a little more kebab and a little less salad. The Künefe was another highlight. I really enjoyed the contrast between the crispy kadayıf on the outside and the soft, warm cheese inside. The pistachios on top were not something I particularly enjoyed by themselves, but mixed together with the cheese, syrup, and crispy pastry, they made much more sense. The first few bites, especially the areas that had not absorbed too much syrup, were excellent. Toward the center it became a little sweeter than I prefer, but overall I still liked it very much. Food-wise, I would actually give Meyhouse a slight edge over Dishdash. There were more layers and more small details to notice throughout the meal, from the bread and herb sauce to the Köpoğlu, Adana, rice, flatbread, and dessert. The service, however, did not match the level of the food. The restaurant was quite quiet at lunch, but the pacing was surprisingly rushed. I had barely started eating the Köpoğlu when the main course arrived. For a menu specifically presented as a three-course prix fixe, I expected the courses to be paced more deliberately. Instead, I had to choose between continuing to enjoy the appetizer and eating the kebab while it was still hot. There was also an issue with clearing the table. One staff member who was not the person taking my order repeatedly tried to remove my bread and the green herb sauce. The first time, I specifically asked him to leave the sauce. Later, after I finished the main course, he came back and again started clearing both without asking. I told him I wanted the bread to go, so he left the bread, but still removed the herb sauce. It was a small detail, but it made the service feel mechanical rather than attentive to what the guest had already requested. Overall, I would rate the food around 8.5/10 and the service around 6.5-7/10. Meyhouse is a little more expensive than Dishdash, but the prix fixe lunch is also very substantial. I only ate about half of the complimentary bread, and I was already quite full after the main course. Finishing the Künefe left me completely stuffed, so the portion size is definitely generous. I would still come back. Next time, I would probably try the Ahtapot, especially since it is only a $9 upgrade on the prix fixe compared with $25 à la carte. The food gives me a reason to return; I just hope the pacing and attention to small service details are better next time.
