We took one of our work trucks to SJ Denham yesterday to have new tires installed. We had an appointment and they got the truck right in. While it was there we had them do some routine maintenance on it. We really like that they can do the maintenance while the tires are being changed. It saves us from having to take a work truck out of service for longer then needed, and saves us from having to run it around to other shops. This was the third vehicle in the last couple months that we have had them put tires on. The service is always awesome. I had to take my 5 star back And give sj denhum 1 star. I spent more then I should with them. This last time I got it back from them they had it for a month just for me to get it back and the PROBLEM NOT FIXED. it was getting stuck in second gear so $2,000 later after they supposedly fixed it I get it back and the cap to my transmission is gone and the coolant tank was almost empty after I paid them 2 months prior to this to top off all fluids and didn't have to put no coolant in until this last time I got it back from them and it was empty. Since then I've been having to add coolant to my tank every once in a while so I'm pretty sure the technician that worked on my transmission cause me to have a coolant leak. oh ya and MY TRANSMISSION IS GETTING STUCK BACK IN SECOND GEAR MULTIPLE TIME AND I HAD MY VEHICLE BACK FOR ONLY 2 MONTHS. I would like to know why they took my money just to not fix the issue and to give me something else to try to get me to bring my car there for them to work on it and scam people for their money. I went down there and talked to Grant the tech manager and they deny why my coolant level was almost empty then they don't know where my transmission cap was. The technician that worked on it said, he could have thrown it away. So they had to order me a new cap. But now I have to go back and deal with them with another complaint why my gear is still getting stuck. They are not christian people. read more

I purchased a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited (Diesel) with all the bells and whistles a year ago. I spoke with the Manager, Ryan Denham, in length prior to the purchase about the concerns I had with it being the new model and the possible problems I would encounter being the guinny pig. I informed him that instead of purchasing from a personal clients of mine in AZ that I wanted to keep my money local in Redding and support his business, with the full understanding that I knew if problems would arise S.J. Denham would take care of me. That could NOT be further from the truth. With 2K miles on the car they needed to put in a new water pump. Because the mechanics did not work on these diesels they needed my car for a week. They replaced my luxury SUV with a cheap Jeep Compass. Very soon after my car started having problems with the DEF signal. While on I-5 headed south for a 2 week vacation in San Diego, full car, dog and 14 yr. old daughter, the car shuts down on me. We are towed back to Redding, unpack the car, and they need the car for a week again. It took them a few days to figure out what the problem was. Twice I have brought it in for oil change/tires rotated and other routine work, and both times it comes back to me with the check engine light on! It is currently down there being serviced right now while I write this review. Ryan Denham could care less about whether I am a satisfied customer buying a car from him this year for my daughter, I am definitely not. If you do not know how to service or fix a Jeep Diesel you should not sale them!! I know they see me as the crazy B^&%@ down there, but I do not care. The stress this has caused myself and my family is unacceptable, they could have told me from day 1 that they did not have the training they needed to service the diesel Jeep and I would have simply purchased the gas one. Just bought my second Jeep from SJ Denham Jeep. It was a wonderful experience, hands down the easiest car buying experience EVER!! I HATE buying new cars, as soon as I walk on a car lot my heart rate spikes and I get super defensive. In this case however, I called and told them what I wanted, we did most of the negotiations over the phone, and when I came in the process took about 25 minutes. I traded in my old Jeep, which I got a good price on and drove off in my new Jeep super happy. Drove my Chrysler Town and Country in for brake system failure/recall repair. 2 months later, while test driving the car they blew the head gaskets and repeatedly tried to start the car. They called and I went in to verify the problem. Found OVER 6 QUARTS OF EXCESS OIL/ANTIFREEZE IN CRANKCASE. I was advised to not even try to start the engine with so much excess oil in the engine. In 2 months apparently no ASE factory trained mechanic could find and pull the dip stick to check the oil(it is right up front just like on most other cars). Now because of a few modifications to the engine, they refuse to repair it even if I pay! I guess I need to take it to a Honda or Toyota dealer for quality service! Forget all the hype about family owned and excellent service. . .NOT TRUE! IRRESPONSIBLE, forcing me to take them to court to get my car repaired! read more

Originally took my 2015 Jeep Cherokee latitude for an issue with the lifters had all of them replaced and paid in full. Immediately after smelled oil burning. Let it be for a few weeks thinking maybe it was spilled and should let it burn off. Turned out something was broken while they fixed my lifters took it back in and waited a week and a half a soon as I got my car back it wouldn't travel more than 20mph would not reverse and was on some sort of lock left it there for an additional hour and requested a temp vehicle if it needed extra work luckily it was done before they closed. I'm writing this complaint because they failed to inform me of the thing they broke when I originally took it in and for the fact that the car was handed to me in the state that it was in when I went to pick it up the second time on 11/23/2020. I feel like I have to have my vehicle double checked somewhere else just in case they left something else wrong . Definitely stressful situation seeing as I need my vehicle and I live an hour away from the shop. read more

Unhappy is the nicest way to describe my experience with SJ Denham, I recently relocated here from Monterey and when I heard there was a dealer really close to my house I was super excited. I had taken my car in for a couple minor issues that were under my warranty and had no problem. Two weeks ago I put my car back in their service department for a weird vibration that had developed and within just 3 days the vibration was so hard i knew something was wrong. I took my car in at 8:30 am, called around 4:15 to see what was going on they Hadn't even touched my car yet, he said he would get back to me within 15 mins, which he did and said "there is no issue your car is in great condition and the vibration is normal in a Chrysler" I knew something was wrong but I wasn't going to argue. They didn't even test drive my car to feel the vibration, they hooked it to a computer and there's no way a computer was going to detect the issue. I decided to get a second opinion and take my car in to Lithia Chevrolet since I felt something was seriously wrong, ended up having a destroyed front passenger wheel hub and ended up having it serviced at Chevy. Upset to say the least but at least it ended up getting fixed no thanks to SJ Denham. read more

Redding consumers beware: The SJ DENHAM "service" department rotated my tires, and now my car is so unbalanced it's undriveable. I asked them to just undo whatever they did, and they wanted MORE money for it! It drove perfectly for the past three years, until I let them touch it. DO NOT get service there, and if possible, don't patronize this business that charges extortion to fix their mistakes! I actually talked with the owner twice, once in person. I gave him every opportunity to do the right thing, but he only demanded more money to even look at it! read more

I was looking to replace my dad's 1994 Buick Park Avenue that was having a few too many little problems. I wanted a small SUV or crossover and looked at Kia and Subaru. Lots of high pressure there. Came on a Friday evening at 5 to Denham to drive a Jeep Compass. Mike Riley was so nice and low key. He took us for a test drive and didn't give us a spiel. He just let us drive the vehicle and ask him questions as they came up. He was very knowledgeable about the vehicle and I decided right then to purchase the Jeep Compass. We went inside, expecting the usual rigmarole and that didn't happen! Mike gave us some numbers to discuss and a form to complete, we said we'd be back the next morning and went to dinner. We discussed the deal- it WAS a deal- and went back on Saturday morning. Again, we were thinking we would lose 3-4 hours of our lives being shuffled from one person to the next, but no! Mike had the paperwork ready, the car was being readied and I was driving off the lot barely an hour later! The financial lady, Lisa Kelly, was awesome as well. We were called later in the day by Denham and were told there was an additional rebate for us! We were asked to come down and resign documents. We of course did and the new documents were ready and it took us less than 5 minutes to save an additional $500! I would definitely recommend Denham to anyone in the market for a new vehicle. Don't go here!!!! Worse experience I've ever had!! Went in for an inspection for a recall on my vehicle and they broke the tumbler in my ignition by forcing my the key in the ignition... They failed to let me know and when confronted about it they lied straight to my face!! They were rude and talked down to me like I was an idiot who didn't know what I was talking about.. They said that they weren't responsible for what have happened when I saw them in my vehicle attempting to start my car... I had the worst experience from the auto repair part of this company. I told the company that I had a broken supply pump when I brought my dodge cummins in then and it took them 24 hours to get a complete diagnosis with me calling them every single hour to see if they had even made any progress. And of course the outcome was that the supply pump was broken. They charged me 150 dollars for this BS diagnosis. They also charged me 11$ for diesel when I had half a tank of fuel already. What was the point in that? They also killed my battery with all their tests that I had to then buy a new battery from them for 171$. They tried to get me to convert my supply pump into the way the new dodges were and told me that would be over 1000$ because they would have to go through the entire engine. They told me that they don't sell the old supply pumps anymore. Which FYI places do. I took my dodge to Shasta county diesel and bought a supply pump brand new from o'reillys for about 180$. It took maybe an hour tops to replace the supply pump. I would not recommend this place at all. They were trying to charge me for any and every penny that they could because they didn't think that I knew what I was talking about. The worst service I have ever experienced. read more

Horrible experience, I was in an auto accident and brought my car here for repairs, initially I was happy with the service. The repairs were to take about a week or so, so I was forced to leave the car over the weekend, well they don't park the cars in a locked yard or in the shop, their just parked right out front in the parking lot, and of course, some punks broke into my car and 4 others! Broke my windows out, cut the alarm system and stole tons of my stuff. They wont pay for any property, the cops were all over the car dusting and rubbing, but they wont wash it. (its a black car) The mechanic informed me there are break in's almost every weekend, of course they failed to tell me this. There alarm system is a security company drives by every 2 hours, WHAT A JOKE! Will never go back. The manager had no care that my car was vandalized, just told me there was nothing he could do. No cameras? Sounds like an inside job. I Strongly urge you to go to another repair shop, with much better security. p.s. Hertz rent a car is very nice and friendly, no bad feelings towards them. read more

Do NOT make the mistake of taking your vehicle to SJ Denham for maintenance, repairs, or service! I have foolishly occasionally taken my Jeep there (over the past 5-6 years), and i will not trust them ever again. I've had several ridiculous experiences with their incompetent and overly-expensive service department, and the recent one (the last time for me) is a classic example of how strangely good they are at charging me an arm and a leg for screwing up my day and failing to fix the vehicle... Weeks ago, i paid $165 them for a diagnosis (compressor replacement needed), but they didn't have the part. So, after the part came in I made an appointment for the install (plus an oil change). I had been told that it would take about two hours, (so i figured it would be closer to three hours with the oil change). I arrived at 9:10 for my 9:30 appointment, left the Jeep, and was told it would be ready by 1:00 PM. By 12:45 i hadn't heard from them so i called to ask if i could pick it up at one, as planned. Service guy was not available, so they said he'd call me back. No call back, and i needed to get home (an hour from Redding), so I biked back to Denham and (at 1:40 PM!) was told that they forgot to order all the necessary parts to properly replace the compressor, so they had only done the oil change (while I waited for over four hours, with no update calls!). Getting out of there was even more ridiculous scenes in the comedy of errors... It took 25 minutes for the service tech to get the paperwork done (so I could pay) and the vehicle brought up (so I could leave)! It ended up being after 2:30 PM when I left, because I had to get another service guy to make a new "Next Oil Change" sticker, since they had written the wrong mileage, claiming that an oil change would be needed in 2,000 miles, when actually the expensive synthetic oil they sold me will not need a change until 7,000 miles of driving (according to one of their mechanics)! The guy was asking me what mileage to write in, and he refused to look up the manufacturers recommendation (which I later checked, and it's 6,250)... But actually, there is one thing they are good at (but it's not part of the service dept.)- the one thing that did go smoothly is when I had to PAY the teller! *No wonder the oil change was so expensive- IT TOOK FIVE HOURS! read more

Got my oil changed here every 3k miles for over 2 years until I used their body shop to fix my 2 year old rear-ended minivan. They were paid over 2,200$ to fix my van and my van left their shop with damage done to it while they "fixed" it. There are still scratches on my van from their terrible "buff" job... Went to sj Denham to address my broken sway bar on my 2016 jeep Rubicon that I actually bought in February of 2017 so not even a year since purchase. called in the told me to bring it in at 11 on a Tuesday, told me when I left it should be done latter that day and they would call. No call tell 9 the next day telling me that they were working on it and would be calling back in a hour to let me know when it was done. 4 hours latter I get the call saying there was a problem, that the warranty wouldn't cover the damaged sway bar do to the 2.5 inch spacers I have for a leveling kit. I said that was ridiculous and didn't have anything to do with spacers. they said they would talk to the service manager and call right back. two hours latter they called and said that they would not cover it. Called a different dealership before getting to sj Denham and they said they would warranty the damage. went down to the dealership very disappointed and talked to the service manager. no help there. so they gave me the keys and I drove out of the dealership. can you believe a dealer would send a vehicle out on the road with a broke sway bar!!! vehicles are very dangerous to drive without sway bars. Ended up trailering the jeep home. very disappointed with the service of this family owned business. read more

Carlisght my 2015 jeep renegade 1.4 turbo 4x4 in late 2015. And it's been nice. The sales men were great . But that's where it ends. I took my renegade in because my service engine light came on when I started lawy morning and as I drove it I felt a rather hard jolt to the rearend so I tried to put it into 4wd and noticed it wasn't working. So I set an appointment to s j Denham for a 10 a.m. appointment as I waited I noticed it took over 3 hours before they even put it into the bay. They later called me saying they would need it for further tests the next day so I had to get a rental car. my warranty only pays for one day. so the next day I didn't get a call and when my rental car was about to run out I took it back and went over to the dealer they claimed that they had called me keep in mind I have only cell phones which to this day I never have a record of than actually trying to call me. this could have cost me extra to have to have the rental car for an extra day had I waited for the call. next they proceeded to tell me that my warranty was voided. due to a aftermarket blow off valve on my Turbo which has no benefit other than making sound. there's service director Grant tried to tell me my modifications voided my warranty. they proceeded to tell me that my exhaust though I had changed it would break California admissions even though my catalytic converter and all the missions equipment we're still there. Grant then explains the Blowoff valve adds boost which is scientifically impossible. So they S J Denham cancelled my warranty and extended warranty. Which is in violation of the Magnusson Moss act. That is a law started to stop companies from not warranting their products. It requires them to prove that the parts or modifications are a direct result to the parts that failed. Like my starter and my stereo updates. they further stated that it wasn't their fault due to the corporation making this decision but FCA has always stood by that they go by the direction of the dealership and it's the dealership that has to remove the Restriction not them so again they are continually lying to me. FYI you'd be better off going to Red Bluff if you want to have your service work done because these guys don't know what they're talking about they just want to get out of doing the work. read more

I don't even know where to start. We purchased a 2013 Chrysler Town and Country Limited fully loaded from Sj Denham in December of 2012. The actual sale of the car was great. We loved our car salesman and at the end of the day we got a cashiers check for 49000 dollars and another one for 1000 as a tip to him. For 4 years the car was amazing. Putting the first 30,000 miles on her was a breeze. All of the fancy features worked and we loved our car. Fast forward to the end of 2017 and sh** hit the fan and all went to he double hockey sticks. From then on we considered all of Chrysler and SJ Denham a lemon. There were defects that arose that are uncalled for the sunroof quit. The actual frame of it was the wrong size so using it for 4 years wore it out more than it should of. But guess what, the extended warranty we purchased didn't cover the frame, only the glass. There's 900 bucks. Following that the transmission acquired a terrible clunk when putting it in gear. Took it in, they hooked it to a computer and said " it didn't throw a code, there's nothing wrong". Well yes there is. So with their magic they came to a conclusion that the battery was bad, that's what it was. But guess what, batteries aren't covered under warranty. There's 210 more dollars. All was good for 2 months until the clunk decided to visit us again. Back Into the shop it was. It did throw a code this time. But not for battery, for transmission.... wait, so I didn't need to replace my battery? Hmmmm should I get my money back? So after they did a reset on the transmission (yea who knew a transmission could be reset... technology) that problem was gone. Thankfully to this day it has remained that way. Fast forward about 6 months and the radio, the hub of a car, the best part... frozen. When ever we would connect for music through Bluetooth it would freeze and nothing but sitting with the car turned off for at least 6 hrs would fix it. So. Back to the shop. They ordered a radio, same result, they ordered it again, same result. At this point they are tired of l ordering them so they tell us that the radio just ain't compatible with Verizon... what does that have to do with anything... if worked the last 4 years? So we result to using the usb cord to we don't have any trouble with music. Fast forward 2 more years and now it's in the shop. For an array of problems. Here's the list: the front 2 seats no longer move with the buttons, and only the passenger and rear seat heater work. The ignition is having problems and fails to start quite a few times, the ac is having a fan speed problem where you'll be driving and all the sudden the fan speed drops but no worry, is you gas it, break hard, take a hard turn, or hit a bump it'll come back.. the radios usb plug and aux plus quit working... now really no music, the back seats now don't move..... back to the shop it goes. This time I find out that the ignition is due to battery fail... wait, didn't I just do that... 210 more dollars... I find out the seats aren't covered under extended warranty. 190 a seat there's 760 bucks. And guess what... they don't want to replace the radio because the aux and usb are from continued use... I said well yes, it's from continued use because I was told my Bluetooth isn't compatible with Verizon, and that they ordered 2 radios. "What!! Your cell carrier shouldn't have anything to do with it!" So they are ordering a new one and I have to come back... so I'm told the cars ready.i go to get it... but the reprogram of the ignition failed and won't be done for 3 more hours... I wait until they close at 6 when I'm told it work be ready I tilt eh next day. Please pray for what comes tomorrow. I don't even know what I'll do. Do me a favor..... never take your vehicle to Sj denham, let alone buy one. .... fast forward a couple weeks I go to pick up the car... the ENTIRE car is covered in grease. The audacity and selfishness of these technicians to not even out down paper is beyond me. read more

my dodge was sputtering and not getting any speed, the engine making noise and the check engine light was on, so I had it towed to SJ Denham. They told me it would be separate diagnostic charges for 1. the engine noise and 2. the check engine light? total for the 2 diagnostics was 360$ I should have know then there would be a problem but I ok'd that only to be called later to be told that they still cant find a problem and if i want them to continue to look for the problem it would now bring the charge up to 498$ That is ridiculous! If after the first 360$ (3 times more than other places) they can still not find an obvious problem then these people are frauds. Now I am having my car towed to another mechanic and feel I just flushed 360$ down the toilet. Be smart people and take your car elsewhere.... read more

A truly stand up operation. I purchased a certified used 2011 dodge grand caravan here. That was a very good experience. After I had a lot of brake issues with the dodge. SJ Denham took care of the front brakes with a special fix from dodge since there was a known issue causing front brakes to warp rotors. Few months later the back brakes go bad wearing only the inner pads and warping the rotors. Dodge warranty would not cover but they do sell a fix for the known issue! This fix would have cost me big $ but the good guy Ryan Denham took that cost, since I had all these issues with brakes, and I only had to pay for new pads. They are truly stand up guys for customer service. Wish I could say the same for Dodge warranty. read more

I will never ever go to sj Denham again. They charge me 300 dollars to verify diagnosis on my vehicle. The original quote for the diagnosis was 119 dollars but ended up at 300 dollars. It took them 2 days to verify the diagnosis on my vehicle that my mechanic did in 35 minutes. They did not make the diagnosis until the second day after I called them and again reminded them that the problem happened when I turn my head lights on and the lights would start randomly going on and off. My mechanic told me it was the module that was only available at the dealership so I had to take it to the dealership to be repaired. So I call the dealership told them this information and it still took them 2 days to diagnose the problem to tell me it was the same thing that my mechanic found in 35 minutes. When I called and reminded them about the problem on the second day they told me my vehicle was not having that issue yet after talking to them I received a phone call back less than 10 minutes later to tell me after having my vehicle for 2 days to tell me the problem started happening right after I called them and told them it happens when I turn the headlight switch on. I was told though when I went to pick up the vehicle that the headlights issue had been happening the whole time they have the vehicle by one of the other technicians. I was charged for total of $994.80 to have my vehicle repaired. then when I go to pick up my vehicle the bar going to the emergency brake handle was wedged behind the side paneling down by my feet the insert on the steering column for the gear shift was hanging loose on the shift handle and as I drove the vehicle home my warning light for the airbags stayed on the whole time. so I called them back and they told me to bring the vehicle back and I did at which time I was told there is a loose connection on one of the airbag switches yet they felt it was safe enough for me to drive home with no problem to my safety.
