Wow after having this spot bookmarked for a few years I'm happy to have finally tried it.....one of the comfiest foods that I've had in the city! I had the chicken boat. Hearty, tasty, not overly greasy/salty at all. The bread is amazingly pillow-soft, and the cheese.....phew suuuper smooth and silky! The chicken with the tomato sauce gives it a savory marinara/shakshouka vibe to it. These boats are made to order; I got my boat about 15 min after ordering. Order at front kiosk. The gentleman who handed the order was all smiles. Small cozy interior. I visited on a Thursday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all.
One of my favorite places in downtown Seattle to eat. Amazing view of the Seattle Great Wheel while you chat with loved ones and eat a delicious shared meal. Service is kind and restaurant is clean and bright. The food is so amazing and we always get extra pickles and extra yolk! My boyfriend and I really love this place and always find ourselves thinking about it and returning. Definitely recommend Skalka as it never disappoints!
We stopped in for a late lunch after walking the Seattle boardwalk. We ordered 2 boats on their iPad and waited about 15 - 20 minutes for our food to be ready. We ordered one of their original boats and chicken one. They arrived piping hot and they were delicious! I have always wanted to try Georgian food and this hit the spot! I'd recommend the chicken one. We'll be back!
I never tried khachapuri before and I'm really glad I did! This spot is a quick 10 min walk down from Pike's Place and it's quite spacious with several seats. They now do a self serve kiosk with 2 workers. Tbh it was a bit unclear if this was a self serve or they would come to you, but it was definitely more casual dining. - Adjatuli Boat (5/5): such an interesting combination of beans, pickled hot pepper (spoicy and sour!) and the cheese and gooey egg yolk. This was around $20 with tax and was definitely enough to eat between 2 people. Great spot- definitely worth a visit!
Simple flavors that pack a punch! I mean, how can you go wrong with bread, cheese, and egg? I got the beef stroganoff khachapuri which I enjoyed. The balance between the creaminess of the stroganoff and the pickles was good as well. The size is good to split between two people. The store is bright and clean with tables inside. You order by tablet and the khachapuri takes a bit of time to be prepared.
We came to Skalka to try their Adjaruli khachapuri, and it was really good -- fresh, tasty, and definitely worth trying. The cafe itself is modern, stylish, and very clean, even the restroom. They also use self-checkout, which makes ordering easy and convenient. The only thing I missed was fresh espresso-based coffee. They only had brewed coffee, which I don't really drink. It would be nice to have a real latte or cappuccino with their khachapuri.
We swung by Skalka on a Christmas morning since this was one of the few places that were open. Overall, the ambience was very casual but clean. We didn't see anyone at the reception so we decided to order at the kiosk and seated ourselves. Later, someone came to greet us and informed that our order would take around 15 mins. We were a huge party so we were surprised that we got our order so early, especially on a Christmas morning. The food came in piping hot. We got khachapuris (both veg and meat versions). The bread of the khachapuri was so fresh and soft. The filling was stuffed and very delicious too. The veg version wasn't that flavorful but the meat versions were really tasty.
This place was open on the holidays. Pretty good khachapuri, not the best one I've had but still very good. One order of this is quite a lot of food. Enough for two people. There wasn't a very large drink selection so we just started our morning with some hot tea. The staff there were very nice. A moderate amount of seating.
I've been to this place at least once every time I go to Seattle! I really like the beef stroganoff khachapuri, it's basically what I get every time. So we did this time plus some hot teas! Although it's a self service to order and pay,I noticed how friendly the staff was. The restaurant is pretty casual and quiet most of times I've been there.
First-time trying Georgian bread (~$18) and I loved it! You're supposed to mix the egg yolk and the cheese together first and then peel the bread to eat with the filling inside. Such a delicious and cool concept! Lobiani Boat - 4/5 I thought the banana pepprrs were too overwhelming and they didn't give enough bacon Stroganoff Boat - 5/5 delicious! The vibes in here are super cute and I love the aesthetic! There's lots of seating too. Cost is on the pricier side, but definitely worth it to try. I'd definitely come back
Stopped by here last Sunday for brunch with my daughter. Food was amazing. We had the Stroganoff with an extra yolk. It was very good, I don't like mushroom but I ate it up. If you haven't tried this place, you're missing out. Service was good, they were very nice and helpful. I want to note that I think each dish is baked in a batch so expect to wait a little longer than normal but well worth it.
Great place to get Georgian food! I loved their service, near big seating area, and of course food! The food is big, they food itself was fresh, healthy, and delicious. I highly recommend and would come back!
Gladly adding to the chorus of rave reviews about Skalka. I enjoyed the "Stroganoff Boat" which is egg, ground beef, cheese, butter, and pickles in a bread boat (Georgian Khachapuri.) I stirred in the egg then ripped off some bread and scooped up the gooey cheesey beefy mixture. It was fantastic. The $17 boat was more than enough food for two people shared, in fact, we couldn't finish it although I kept taking "one more bite!" because it was so tasty. The restaurant is a little bigger than I expected from photos, there are a few tables in the front and a few tables in the back, so getting a seat was no problem. You order at a kiosk (tablet) and listen for your number to be called and I also got a text when my order was ready. They tell you an approximate wait time, and it was pretty accurate for us (15 minutes on a Saturday at almost noon.) You pick up your order at the counter and can get your own water as well, so I'm not sure that you need to tip for self-service like that? The atmosphere was pretty modest in terms of the decor, but I sat in a sunny window with a view of the great wheel, so I really couldn't have been happier. The food was delicious, I couldn't stop talking about it the next day, and I definitely will be back for more!
Forgot to post this review from recent Seattle travels. Skalka was bookmarked in my Yelp based on reviews and their menu intrigued me to try Eastern European cuisine. The location is slightly further past the touristy Pike Place Market, but within walking distance from downtown area. It's a clean, casual, bright eating place with dining area. I tried the stroganoff khachapuri and it was divine! The bread boat was freshly baked and all the components (including egg and pickles) perfectly complemented each other. There were alot of customers picking up their orders to go. I will remember to return during future travels here. read more

Its been nearly a week and I'm sad I had to leave this bread bowl restaurant behind in Seattle.... So these little breads are apparently called khachapuri~a national dish from the country of Georgia...Yep...liked them so much I decided to snoop a little. They're typically cheese filled bread bowls where you're meant to the crust into the cheese....same concept as a clam chowder bowl basically. So anyway, found some blog mentioning this place, decided to make a trip during our Seattle vaca. OMG. Best decision ever. It was so good I made sure to come back again on our last day there. You order on their self order kiosk on the counter. Pick from a couple choices. The food comes out in 15-30 minutes. Lines can get long so plan accordingly. Didn't have an issue securing a table. They have water and condiments on the counter. We shared a stronganoff the first time and the meat was so tender and juicy. We mixed things in with the soft runny yolk/cheese mixture and it was perfect. Top it with some pickles and you're set. Flavoring was on point. I usually hate crust but I ate even the bf's crust....second time was eggplant and it was just as amazing...finished every last crumb. One bread can def be shared by two people. Its very filling! What a surprise! It was a very yummy surprise! I am used to the smaller breadboats but they have huge boats that are a complete meal. I thought when I saw the $17 per boat was expensive but when i received my order, it was well worth it! Didn't finish it coz i was full! My daughter suggested this place for her birthday breakfast. I am always open to trying other cuisine, so I had to give Skalka try when I saw this restaurant on Yelp! They're located a bit farther down the street from where Pike Place Market is, but it's quite close by if you're in the area. They serve Khachapuri, a traditional Georgian dish with cheese-filled bread in the shape of a boat. We got the chicken, stroganoff, and veggie boat. Each bread boat is split between the meat/veggies and a runny egg. Taste wise, it missed the mark a bit and didn't meet expectations. It may have been a bad batch, but the flavors were just okay and nothing to rave about. Still, Skalka is definitely a good spot to venture out of your comfort zone and try other cuisines, so I would definitely giving them a try if you're interested in trying Khachapuri! read more

Ordered online for in-store pickup and it was quick and easy! To be honest, I found this place while looking for cheap Seattle eats and the photos looked too good to resist. Each boat was about $16-17, and they were flatter bread bowls with your filling of choice + an egg yolk. My boyfriend and I got the chicken boat and the beef stroganoff boat. The chicken boat was very flavorful and perfect for dipping the bread in. The beef stroganoff had a more mild, mushroom-y flavor, I just wish the meat was a bit more tender. The bread had a chewy-soft bite to it, and was still a bit crispy on the outside. Beautiful consistency. Would def recommend for a satisfying, doughy bite! read more

Three buddies and i took care of business at this Georgian restaurant with my buddy Sister and it was her idea which is ironic because she just flew from France yesterday and France is a country in Europe and Georgia is a state in south east United States of America. To be frank with you (a pun because she was in France) this is one of my favorite foods I've had in a while. I'm still confused what it was but it was delicious. And I'm not saying that because there's pretty girls who live in Georgia. At one point I told my buddy that he had a booger in his nose. When I was leaving, I start a conversation with the guy working at the counter. He started laughing. I started laughing, and then the lady next to us joined it. She thought I worked there too. I don't. this guy made me want to. She thought that because we got along so well. I don't blame her. I don't blame anybody. Really unique place in seattle! Came here because the photos looked so good and I can attest that the pictures live up to the hype! Near pike's place, super walkable, self order on kiosk. Free coffee with yelp checkin! Plenty of seating inside and super clean and modern looking. Each "boat" is $16.75 and they are breadbowls with cheese, butter, soft runny egg yolk with different fillings inside. I got the chicken boat (Chicken Ragu) and I loved it! My friend got the Lobiani boat (red beans, bacon, and banana peppers) and she really liked it. The only thing she was a bit disappointed about was that the red beans in her bowl were kidney beans (not asian red beans). If you love "red sauce" in pasta, I would recommend the chicken bowl. If you prefer "alfedo", you might like the lobiani instead. They dont taste like pasta but this is the best way to explain the difference of the taste in the 2 bowls me and my friend got! Wouldnt mind coming again! It was really filling and totally instagramable. read more

So delicious and unique! I was hesitant for the runny egg but it mixes with the hot cheese and makes a delicious concoction. The vegetables mixed with the cheese and bread were just the perfect bite. This has been on my radar for a while, so I was happy to finally check it out on a recent trip to DT Seattle. First, the good: finding authentic cuisine from that region (we are talking the Caucasus, Eastern side of the Black Sea, etc,) is very hard, close to impossible here. And it's a shame, because Georgian cuisine in particular is of the kind that leaves you very, very happy (and also very, very full). So having a Georgian place in Seattle is a treat. I enjoyed the traditional cheese+egg khachapuri a lot. Now, for the surprises: this spot is smack in the middle of DT, in a touristy area, it's spacious and airy, but seems like a missed opportunity on so many levels. I hope one day to see more items on the menu. However, so far it is just the "cheese boats" and a limited selection of drinks. The service was switched to self-serve, and the kitchen seemed understaffed, as we had to wait for quite some time for our orders. Still, the food is delicious. I just hope this gets revamped/expanded to give justice to the cuisine and the generous spirit of that region. read more

WOW BRAVO. What a best-kept secret in Seattle. Skalka is amazing. I have dined in, as well as ordered take out and both were amazing. Even delivery arrived fast, hot, and just as perfect as dine-in! The menu is simple and overcomplicated, but because of this, the attention to detail is OUT OF THIS WORLD. I ordered the chicken boat which was ABSOLUTELY delicious. Hot crusty bread, topped with gooey Adjaruli cheese, chicken, tomatoes and veggies with fresh herbs, and a creamy egg. The bread is easy to tear off and dip in the toppings and honestly blew my mind. One of the best meals we had in Seattle this last week!!! Wow I'm still thinking about it. I loved the Adjaruli Boat. These boats are huge and so tasty. It was creamy and buttery, a little harder to eat if you break the dam when it's still hot but that's what forks are for. These tasted as good if not better later in the day when the center cooled and thickened and still great the next morning. Did I mention these are huge! Bread. Cheese. Yolk. Flavorful Chicken. What more could you want :') Came here for brunch with a friend at around 11am on a weekday and there was no line! We ordered on the kiosk for dine-in since there wasn't anybody attending the front, and decided to share the chicken boat which was more than enough for the both of us, however if you're really hungry then get 2! We waited around 20 mins for our order to come out and it was fresh and warm out of the oven. The bread is so fluffy on the inside but crispy on the outside and I was worried that the bread would be soggy in the middle with the chicken and cheese but it still held up! The chicken is SO flavorful but when it's paired with the cheese it makes it even better. Yes i'm lactose intolerant but this meal was well worth it ;) There's a decent amount of seating inside but it definitely gets busy quick so I would order for takeout in advance if it's a nice day outside. They do make everything fresh so definitely expect a wait. There's a sign at the counter that says "expect a 30 minute wait" so be warned, but I do feel that it's worth the wait. read more

We ordered at 8:30am on Yelp to pickup at 9:30am. We arrived at 9:17. No one was at the desk but we could hear the sounds of cooking in the kktchen. They were super busy at opening, but we're able to get out food at 9:30. That was the first time we had khachapuri. We're blown away at how delicious it is. We're Vietnamese so we know breads. The khachapuri bread is crunchy outside but moist and airy inside. The cheese, egg york, chicken, and tomato sauce complemented each other so well. We're actually sad since we only visited Seattle and can't have Skalka khachapuri often. Definitely come back for more khachapuri next time we're in town. read more

The computer ordering was pretty self explanatory. The server/food runner wasn't very good at fielding questions, maybe because English wasn't his first language? The food was delicious! Quite a pleasant surprise for a place we randomly stumbled upon. We ordered the vegetarian option which again was great, they make each one to order so each order takes 15ish minutes potentially longer if they are busy. A little on the pricier side, 17.75 per order but everything tastes very fresh. Definitely looking forward to trying the other options! read more

Yay! An actually good brunch spot in Seattle. What a pleasant surprise. My hubby and I always struggle to find good brunch spots here (I've lived in NY, LA, Portland, and the South and Seattle is often... lacking). Enough of the negative talk! Back to the food!: We saw them bringing out the delicious bread boats before ordering and decided that we only needed one to split. So proud of our self control! From the outside, it doesn't look like much--very humble furnishing and bare bones aesthetic. The wait time is a little long (I think we waited about 20+ minutes) but they're upfront about it, and they make the "boats" fresh so the bread is super fluffy and delicious. I got the chicken boat, which comes with chicken, egg, and cheese. The filling is delicious but the real star of the show is the bread, which you can tear off and use to dip--so good! I think you can order ahead online, which is what I would do if coming back to this place to avoid the long wait. read more

This was my first time trying Georgian food and I can easily say that it was a life changing experience. I still crave the khachapuri and think about how amazing the food is here. It's sad that they don't have anything that remotely compares to Skalka back in Los Angeles. One khachapuri is pretty big and enough to feed two people. My personal favorite was the lobiani because I love beans. I tried the stroganoff and really enjoyed it too. The beef is packed with lots of flavor and compliments the bread really well. We came around 10 am on a week day and it wasn't too busy. There was about a 15-20 minute wait since everything is made fresh to order. read more

Saw this while scrolling through yelp as one does when in a town with so many food choices. I'm so glad we stopped and enjoyed an amazing breakfast. We got here around 11:30 or so and it ended up being the perfect time. Shortly after it got pretty busy. I ordered the stroganoff boat. Wow it was so tasty. The bread that is served in I a perfect vessel for this creamy, tasty dish. I would say this is a must go if you are ever in The Seattle area. This was a new dish to me. We did a walk-in at Skalka and it was busy. We were seated at the bar. The food was really warm from the outside and the stuffing was cold. The burrito is very big and was able to only finish half of it. The English Tea is very fresh and loose leaf. Seen this place online a few times so took the opportunity to go check it out! You order on a tablet here (no need to talk to anyone!) and can choose between 4 (maybe 5) options for boats. Personally I wish they had a few more options, but I don't mind them sacrificing quantity for quality. This was VERY filling. I was famished when I ordered and I was stuffed to the point of discomfort when I finished. This could certainly be shared among two people as a light meal! The bread was very yummy as well as the chicken filling! The cheese was just alright, very creamy and I wish there was more chicken. This is a very fun place to check out! Although it's a bit expensive, I think this is a fun and cute experience to try at least once -- not sure it's worth the price to come here regularly! read more

Omg this place is delicious! We ordered the Stroganoff Boat but i think if I went back I would get the all cheese boat. Don't get me wrong the Stroganoff was super good but I leaned more towards the cheese side. Definitely recommend trying this if you're in the area! It is a heavy dish so I would recommend sharing if you aren't extremely hungry. My bf and I shared one boat and were satisfied. A note is that this place is self order at the kiosk. The workers are in the back mainly cooking the food. They don't come up often unless they are bringing the food up to the front. read more

We came to Skalka after perusing brunch options at Pike Place and not really finding anything there super tempting. This place is kiosk order only, which surprised us, but I get it.. makes it easier on the employees. BUT the kiosk was flawed in that it didn't let us make any adjustments to our order. Example, I really wanted the egg yolk on my bread boat, but I preferred it medium/hard cooked.. but there was no option to write that in, so I just had to opt out of the yolk altogether lest it was super runny. I got the chicken boat and he got the lobiani. Both were very tasty! My favorite part was the banana peppers on the lobiani. It paired with the flavors and textures of the boat super well and almost served as a palette cleanser after all that cheesy goodness. Another thing to note was that even though the place was probably at 80% capacity when we went, it was still super quiet. The environment really encourages people to talk with inside voices, which made or dining experience really pleasant and zen. read more

Skalka is perfect comfort food for a cold, rainy day. The bread boats all include soft, pillowy dough a bit like a thick pizza crust, and a glorious egg and butter mixture. There are a few choices of additional toppings. My favorite is the Lobiani, with big red beans, banana peppers, and slices of thick, fatty bacon (more like British bacon than the thin and crispy bacon you generally find in the USA). Rip it apart and eat it with your bare hands. You won't regret it! read more

I've always wanted to try khachapuri, it's basically a saucy and cheesy egg mixture in a bread boat, what's not to love? I came here with a couple friends around 3 on Saturday and there was plenty of seating. There is a screen where you order food at in the front. The workers are mostly in the back preparing the food, which came out in ~20 mins for us. We ordered two Stroganoffs, a Chicken, and a Lobiani. The khachapuri were a bit pricy, around $16-17 before tax, but they are pretty big portion-wise. You can def share between two people if you aren't too hungry. We hadn't eaten all day so we each ordered one, and we barely finished them. It's basically like a thick saucy stew on one side, and a runny egg with cheese on the other. There are forks available, but we found that using our hands to tear the crust and dip into the center was the best way to eat it. All the flavors were pretty tasty, and the texture of the crust has a nice crispy chewiness, almost like a good pizza crust. The stroganoff and lobiani boats did a bit heavy near the end, so it was nice having the pickles and banana peppers to cut the heaviness. Skalka is one of my favorite places for breakfast in Seattle. This Georgian Restaurant offers only 5 items on the menu but they do it so well. I always get the classic Adjaruli, a bread boat that is bound to satisfy anyone who loves bread, cheese, and eggs. The food came out in about 10 minutes, so the service was good. They have a small dining area and a very clean bathroom. Would definitely recommend dining in. read more

Came in a Thursday morning around 10am. Not busy at all. They have a self order kiosk. This was our first time trying Georgian food. We ordered the Chicken and Lobiani boat. They did not disappoint! The bread was so yummy and warm. The chicken, cheese and yolk all together had such great flavor! My favorite part of the Lobiani was the banana peppers. We also grabbed two coffees. For everything, we paid around $50 which isn't too bad for a unique food experience. It was also quiet inside the place which made for a chill experience. Would definitely come back! read more

I WALKED SO FAR TO GET HERE. Totally worth the journey to try something so unique. Can't say I've ever had a Khachapuri (or any Georgian food) before this. I found it odd that ordering takes place via kiosk only, then you sit for 15-20 minutes and wait for your order to come out. The boxes are placed in a pile for you to find your own, so pay attention. I got the Stroganoff Khachapuri which was tasty. Honestly I was getting over a cold and think I couldn't quite taste all the intended flavors, but it was fun to pull apart the bread and dip it in the middle. I actually looked at their website for how to properly eat the dish because I didn't want to look like an uncultured idiot. A little too much food for one person. I was traveling here alone and would have loved to share this with someone else. Or you could order a few of these via takeout (delivery seemed to be popular at Skalka) to eat at home. What do you replace the egg and cheese and butter with to make the veggie boat vegan? We don't care if it is gluten-free, that has absolutely nothing to do with it being vegan.
We don't have vegan options. Milk and eggs are in the dough. At this point, we don't make gluten-free or vegan dough.
What are the delivery details?
You can find us on UberEats, Grubhub and DoorDash!
Do you offer dine-in tables?
Yes, we do! No reservations, first-come, first-serve.
Is it possible to eat here with a dairy allergy?
No, because we use dairy to make our dough.
Do they take weekend reservations?
They did not have reservations available when I went. It's a small restaurant and gets packed quickly, your best bet is to get there 10-15 mins before opening if you can.
What happened to the closed cheese pizzas? Not seeing them on the menu for takeout.
They updated their menu (received tecent email) to focus on the egg boats. Dumplings are available via pop ups. I think they halted the Imerulis you mentioned. You can call or email directly to be sure. (5/9/21)
Are there any vegan options? What is in the dough?
Dough has milk and eggs. We have vegan fillings, but we make all boats with same dough as of April 2021.

Possibly soup or stuffed eggplant, but it's pretty bread-centric.
Is there any lunch specials?
Yes! We have beef soup + house bread ($8.5), Georgian salad + 2pc badrijani + house bread ($11), and 4pc beef khinkali ($9). Available on weekdays 12pm-2pm.
