I've been there three times since it opened "under new management" First two times I figured it was "under new management" So... inconsistent weight staff plus not enough weight stuff. yesterday we ordered 1 hamburger, 1 Cobb salad, 2 $14 drinks. Almost $100. Now granted my tip was 20% of it. And the hamburger didn't come with anything, not one single french fry, the hamburger was good however. Oh I did order a side of onion rings. The atmosphere is awesome they've done really cool things to make it family friendly you can bring your dog kids have playgrounds you can even play pickleball because they added a brand new pickleball court right in the middle of a field on top of a septic system that reeks and not one lick of shade. Ski shores Cafe is doing really well under this new management but there is hardly enough parking. people are parking on the side streets and the neighbors are starting to put rocks everywhere so that ski shore customers can't park in front of their homes Now the ordering system is online. My phone was acting up with the WiFi. The waiter wouldn't even just take our drink order without being logged in. So heaven forbid you show up without a cell phone. read more

It's a real bummer that I have to give this place a one star for their customer service. My family and I have been wanting to check out this restaurant for awhile now and we finally decided to give it a chance. Well, as soon as we parked in the handicap parking spot we had one of their employees make a snobby comment to us about it AND continued to make another one with a random customer, literally in front of us. That was the first red flag and we should of left instantly but we decided to ignore it. As soon as we walked into the restaurant I literally could see this same employee go up to other employees and talk about us and they would just stare at us. Literally up to the point where I caught them and I had to stare back at him to make him realize that I know what he was doing. When we walked up to the host to be seated their manager came and mentioned they would be towing our car. We asked why? He said we didn't have a handicap plate and we couldn't park there. But we have DV PLATES, those plates are for DISABLED VETERANS and those plates are the ones my husband has earned. Instead of the previous employee making snarky comments and talking behind our backs, he should of asked us if we could park there because he didn't see handicap plates on our car and we could of happily have showed him the DV plates and educated him on them. But nope, they decided to bash on us for no reason. We have NEVER felt so uncomfortable and disrespected at a restaurant before. The manager did apologize for the actions of their employee but unfortunately the damage was done. This whole situation could of been avoided if it wasn't for the employee making a snarky comment instead of asking us a simple question. I really hope this restaurant takes this review serious and educates their present and future employees about DV plates and BY LAW a car with DV plates DOES NOT need to have a handicap plate/sticker/etc. read more

Didn't personally go here but my client was picking up for for dinner and asked me what I wanted. I got the Border Burger with fries. I wasn't expecting much but this was a good burger. Very good. Nice amount of jalapeño and the meat has a nice flavor. The fried were also really good. Crispy. They have a batter that makes them more tasty. Apparently, the view is amazing. It's always amazed me that with all the waterfront we have in Austin, there are so few spots to casually eat and drink. The menu is basic bar food, burgers, sandwiches and tacos, the service is hit or miss, rarely hit and the location is difficult to get to, unless you have a boat and is by far the best thing about this place. Ski Shores used to be my very favorite dog friendly place on the lake to stop and eat unfortunately they are no longer the "definition of Austin laid back since 1954" Yes they have new bumpers and pads to protect your boat on arrival and the plumbing is much improved but that is not what makes a home a home... I remember once upon a time when we arrived via boat and had to to use our own pads to protect our boat - but the management catered to our ever other need.. Dogs of any breed were welcomed with dog treats and the owner brought out bread to flirt with me and my Nieces to feed the fish:) In it's past life Ski Shore felt like family. Awesome spot I've been coming to for years but today may have changed that. Just sat down at the outside bar to grab a snack and relax. I'm about 7 minutes in and I get a tap on the shoulder from the bartender who was working the tiki bar area. He asked me if that was my BMW parked in the handicap spot. I state yes it is. He tells me it will most likely get towed. I asked why? He asks me if I have a handicap placard. I replied no but am a disabled veteran (100%) and if they run my plates they will see that. He replies with, tow trucks come all the time and tow vehicles. I ask how can they do that without running the plates or the property owner requesting the tow? He says they randomly show up normally due to neighbors calling to have vehicles towed. I ask how can someone who doesn't own the property call tow trucks to tow vehicles? He says I'm just letting you know and that this happens often. At this point I closed out my drink and left. If you have an issue with vehicles being randomly towed and the owner is not aware of this then there is a huge issue with the relationship with the community. Not a good experience trying to eat wondering if my vehicle is going to get randomly towed. read more

We docked via boat (yay for dockside parking!) but I would say that more than half of the customers came via four wheels. My boyfriend and I split the fish tacos. While the tacos were decent, it lacked any pizzazz. I also thought $10 for 2 tacos and a handful of chips was expensive. What, no beans or rice? I'm not even asking for both. This is one of those spots that totally trades on location. As you might imagine. You can pull up in your boat with your bathing suit and your pup and have some lakeside food. They've got TVs and arcade games and regular old bar food. The food is hiked up about $2 from what it should be and the service is... well... not great. But when you're by the water and hanging with buddies, all of that seems a little less important. It's one of the few spots on the water to get sustenance. This place is one of Austins best kept secrets! Every time I have been here I have had great service, tasty food and cold drinks. I must admit I have resisted reviewing Ski Shores because I love the slow pace and Texas friendly service I get here. I guess I was afraid if too many people found out about this place it would become like some of my other favorite local spots, crowded and less affordable. . The food is your basic hamburger and fries type of menu. They also offer chicken, shrimp, fish and veggie burgers as well as an assortment of salads & kids menu. The menu is not extensive but it doesn't need to be. This is not fine dinning, it's casual all the way. Do not come here expecting a super delicious meal. This is the kind of place you go to with friends or the family for a descent meal, cold drinks and a relaxing conversation. They also have a playscape for children and a slew of turtles, minnows and bass that hang around the tables by the lake in hopes you or your kiddos throwing them a fry or two. They have video games as well as a few out door games for kids and adults. There are a few screens to watch games/news and indoor/outdoor seating. Nearly all of the outdoor seating is covered by shade trees or patio cover. The service is excellent, they are helpful and attentive without being bothersome. The place is well kept and always clean. The only down side to Ski Shores may be their location. I see this as a plus and a major part of their appeal to me. It's a little off the beaten path for most people. Unless you live, boat or hike the area you most likely will have to go out of your way to dine here. I highly recommend you go just not on the days I do! read more

I like to daydream about having one of those fancy houses. Fun to watch the teens and young adults have fun on their boats. Ski Shores is right on the water, and boaters on Lake Austin can dock amongst the milling swans and carp and grab a drink or a bite while taking a ski break.The rest of us have to drive there. It's a casual lakefront restaurant, emphasis on casual, so you can show up in shorts and flip flops and hang out on the covered deck. They have music nights with some good local artists playing, so check their online calendar. The food is what we call "lake food," which means burgers and fried stuff. They do offer local beers but as we found, they're served in cans. Defeated the purpose for me, because usually they're on tap. My margarita showed up in a tiny clear solo cup that the salt wasn't sticking to. I'm not on a boat, either. No real glass? Prices are a bit higher than you might expect, but again, considering the rent on that prime location and the fact that they don't charge a cover for music, they're about right. The service is very slow and our particular server didn't know anything about the drink menu, so maybe they have a lot of new folks working there. It's the lake, so you can't be in a hurry. Location, location, location... this is what matters for this waterfront cafe. Its strategic location allow boaters and jetskiers to just park their vehicle on the side and grab some lunches. As for real car drivers, it's a tough drive to get here, you can get lost along the residential area, the address given here ain't right either, because we were given 2907 Pearce Road, and lemme tell you, it's like 0.5 miles further down than that number you have to go to find this place. Therefore, if you think you get lost in the residential no worries, right at 2900 Pearce Road, there's a big house with silver dome on your right hand side, just keep going and you'll see a sign saying Ski shore to keep going further and Greenshore is the opposite direction, so keep going until the end of the road, you'll see a sign. Now, for the real thing, food taste wise is just regular burger taste, good enough selections to choose from, regular Cheeseburger to Scooter burgers, I chose Scooter burger, nothing really fancy, except that it comes with Guac and mayo as a sauce with Seasoned french fries on the side. Also ordered a basket of onion rings and they asked, "do you mind if the rings come out first?". My reply, "sure, why not?" without knowing that the burger was gonna came out MUCH MUCH Later... It took more than 30mins for the Onion Rings to come out, shocking rite? How slow was their fryer I wonder... and the burger came out like maybe another half an hour later, seriously these people need to do something about this, because as much as we wanted to enjoy the scenery, I ain't waiting that long just to get a burger!!! And for that burgers and the wait, it cost a LOT $9.25 at least for a burger and a side of fries, you could switch the side with a fried okra or onion rings, for an extra 99cents and the onion rings, just a little basket for $6.25, ay carambas!!! Judging from the look of it, since I came from CA, it lookd like an IN n OUT Burger that only cost me like $3 for double double and here the price was double, blah!!! I'm being generous of giving 3 stars here because I love the view so much, I thought I would see Austin as a barren land, but I was wrong, this view made up for it plus the ability to bring your dog was also another plus. Parking is a bust if you're coming during lunch hour, there's only so much space that we had to park behind our friend's car. walked into this place after being on the boat, and its cute. I would have probably had a semi decent experience because of the scenery, if the manager wasn't so insanely rude. I have a service animal, and he cornered me and asked me sensitive questions relating to my health and wellness that are illegal and uncalled for to ask. He made me feel very uncomfortable and disrespected then made us sit in a different seating area because he dod not care that my dog is a registered service animal. My group then sat outside and dropped it, so it would not ruin our day. The manager actually came back up to me to single me out of my group to throw away my drink ( i am 21) while others drinks around me were not snatched out of their hands. Getting back to Ski Shores after almost a year, i was unpleasantly surprised. Their burgers are still good, but what used to be good salads have become unpalatable. The Asian crunch salad was so sweet that i had to eat a bunch of fries just to get the taste out of my mouth. The kids food is a joke. We ordered chicken tenders. It was enough to be an appetizer for my 8 year old. We had to order him a burger after that. We called the waitress to make sure this was the real portion. She said it was, and it was meant for "little kids". Sorry but 8 is a perfectly fine age to order from the kids menu! Ski Shores is my idea of heaven. It's a mini-road trip if you're traveling by car, but a mere stop in the channel if you're lucky enough to be on the water. A friend kept insisting that we go, saying he'd found the best kept secret in Austin, so we headed over one evening at dusk to investigate. I feel a bit heartbroken even writing this, knowing it's popularity will soon swell as word travels round. (Not that my reviews are all-reaching, but I was shocked to see a review pre-existed on this place...a surefire sign that people are hearing the good word.) Anyway, this Lake Austin waterfront food stop looks like a hamburger stand and has been dishing out typical American fare for over 50 YEARS. Incredible. The four of us got veggie burgers and fries, drank cold beers, and sat on a hard picnic table next to the water. They offer live music on the weekend (awesome), but this was a weekday and we enjoyed the quiet sounds of lapping water and boats passing by (no-wake zone). Families of regulars stopped by to grab burgers or a pizza. The owner wandered around shaking hands. And the sun set on the most chill evening I've had in Austin. It's hard to do Ski Shores justice with words...it's something you must experience. read more

Writing to warn people about this business and an incident that happened to my wife and how it was handled. We were visiting my daughter and she wanted to take us here because she's been here before and she thought it resembled our old home area in Michigan. We had lunch downtown Austin so we just came here to have a drink and enjoy the lake. It was during the week so there was only about a dozen patrons in the outside eating area. There were 5 of us so we each ordered a drink. The price of the drinks came to $89. :( While waiting for the drinks my wife went to use the ladies room and when she entered she didn't notice there was a big step down. (There was no warning on the outside of the door.) When she walked in she fell to the floor. She hurt her knee, wrist and shoulder and banged her head. She was embarrassed and didn't say anything to anyone when she came back to the table. I did notice she wasn't drinking her glass of wine though. After we finished our drinks I got up to go to the men's room and my daughter decided to use the ladies room and that's when my wife told her what happened so it wouldn't happen to her. When my daughter came out of ladies room she told the bartender what happened to my wife. The bartender gave my daughter a bag of ice. Nobody from the Cafe came out to see if my wife was ok or needed any kind of medical attention. The next day the pain in her shoulder was pretty bad so my daughter took her to the emergency room for an x-ray. Luckily the x-ray came out negative but the doctor said she could have a tear in her rotator cuff. They put her arm in a sling. The next day I called Ski Shores Cafe and asked to speak to a manager. The young girl that answered said she was the manager. I explained everything as in this post and basically I got the run around with "well this has never happened before". I told her there was a "watch your step" sign on the inside of the door so they were aware that it was a problem. I said they need a sign on the outside too and she said "good idea" we'll look into it. The thing that really upset me is nobody came to her attention after the fall was reported! They could of also offered a professional gesture of comping the drinks due to the pain and suffering my wife endured. read more

I have been going to Ski Shores for the past seven years. It was always a great Austin gem on the lake. I went there today with longtime Austinites and it was a disaster! There is no longer ant "human touch". I might have been in an airport ordering food and beverage, sans a waiter or waitress. The QR Code system is "hosed" up from the standpoint of a group check. Yo, Ski Shores, fire you software coders, the app sucks! The prices have also gone through the roof. Ridiculous! $39 for a lobster roll? $50 for two mixed drinks and a club sandwich? Now that I've passed the age where it's acceptable to be out after dark on 6th, I've searched the Bastion Of Weird for a new haunt. Ski Shores is that place. Drive down Pearce Rd, wind through miles of wilderness and you'll eventually wind up in Islamorada, Florida. I have spent some time in the Keys and Ski Shores evokes the beer, babes, burgers and boats vibe of the best joints in the ass-end of the Sunshine State. Super friendly staff (Lauren the barkeep is exceptional) and surprisingly good burgers compliment the views. Did I mention the view? The Colorado River rushing past, turtles, swans, fish and lots of scantily clad waterfaring passers by. I had an all around very calming and pleasant experience both times I have eaten here with my canine companion, Toto. Sooo.... let's jump in. Atmosphere... I love dining outside. It was kept clean. Nice view of Lake Austin. No Neanderthals in attendance. Cute seating area with strings of lights for a twinkly evening meal. Shaded seating. A bit of grass for the puppy dingas to lounge on. Wonderful staff in attendance who all seem very socially gifted and accommodating. Plenty of water bowls for dogs. Menu... breakfast tacos, sandwiches, platters, beer, mixed drinks. A little something for everyone. I dined on the chicken fajita tacos with fries and they come with nacho chips and salsa. I preferred the beer over the margarita. I ordered a puppy burger for 2.00 for Toto. Price point.... not bad for what you get! They do hook you up! Nice mid range price point. I will definitely be coming back here. Awesome seafood and good drinks next to thw water. The view of the lake, the boats, millionaire houses and hills make this a hidden gem. Staff was eager to please and very attentive. Fried catfish basket was huge but I had to finish it all :-) There are arcade machines, that air hockey puck game (cant remember the name) and a patio with swings for kids. The tables site next ti the water where you can see (and feed) turtles, swans and fish while you hang out. You can also rent boats to take a stroll down the Lake. Stumbled upon this hidden gem (or what I'd consider to be hidden) trough Yelp and I have to say that it didn't disappoint! The location was great and secluded. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't overcrowded, which is a huge plus. I saw some reviews about the food not being that great and so I was a little worried about that. However I kept asking everyone how their food was and no one had any complaints (except for my friend's watered-down Bloody Mary...)! I got the fish tacos and I would highly recommend them! Also, everything on the menu was reasonably priced, which is like spotting a unicorn in Austin. I'll definitely be going back in the near future! read more
