Skins' Hotdogs / Greer: The most exciting part of this stop was having my tire changed.
    Kimberly-Gretchen B.

I can't wait to go back! Not because it was such a good experience, but because I think they have a good product, and I want to give them another chance to impress me. Background: I was headed S on I-85, feeling drowsy, so I thought a snack might help me. It was about 4.15 in the afternoon. I took exit 54, Pelham Rd., and the first thing I see is Skins' Hot Dogs. Sounds good, so I pull in, go inside, and it's essentially dead. Partly because of the pandemic, partly because of a lack of imagination on the part of Skins', partly because of the aloofness of the 1 man working there. I waa the only patron in the store. There was no table service. (Pandemic) Restrooms closed. (Pandemic) Very limited menu. (Probably pandemic) I ordered 2 Hot Dogs. To go. With Mustard & Onions. While he was preparing my Dogs, I noticed they looked rather small, and asked what brand they were. Their own brand. I hope that's a good sign. Minutes later my Dogs were up. I paid and walked out the door. Got in my car and began eating the first Dog. Rather bland. I set aside the second Dog for later, and started to drive off. Crap! Feels like I have a flat tire. No worries. I park the car rather awkwardly in the lot and phone AAA. While I'm waiting for AAA, I'm still hungry. There's a Burger King next door, so I walk over, buy a burger, and walk back to my car. I eat my Whopper Jr., wait for AAA, and am on my way after getting my tire changed. When I arrived at my destination in GA, I still had the second Dog... I trashed it. Looking at the Yelp reviews for the various Skins' locations in SC, it seems that they have undisputedly bland Dogs, but make up for it with loads of toppings. I'll give them another chance on my next trip to GA.

Hungry for something simple and light, I stopped for a hot dog. I was expecting a delicious, plump, dark pink colored dog. How can you go wrong with a dog, right? Yes, you can and they did. That's not what was offered up (see photo that spares you the internal details). Don't bother stopping unless you want the bottom of the barrel. This dog is pretty sorry looking and tasted the same. For a place with hot dog as party of their moniker, I was/am disappointed. The selection of chips was nice but the drink selection was limited unless you wanted apple juice or chocolate milk. The remaining items were soda. There are a few locations in the area but no more Skins for me. In a hurry, I didn't review the photos before stopping in. Sometimes, it pays to slow down.

Simply the best! "All the way" Chili, onions and mustard on a soft steamed bun. The best Chili Dogs in the USA!

I drive by Skins several times a week and felt like I should give them a try. I went in at 11:15 AM and the restaurant was almost full. I noticed immediately that the workers had a good attitude and seemed to want to help. They recommended I order the "All The Way" Dog which, comes with Mustard, Chili and Onions. My Hot Dog was delivered within a couple minutes. It was hot with a small Dog and really overall a small offering. It cost $2.21 with tax. I would need three to fill me up. I will say the flavor was very good and tasted fresh. I will eat there again! That being said, expect to order three dogs for a good lunch. Additionally, they're a Pepsi restaurant which is unfortunate. I said all that to say this: Three-Stars for flavor and people with great attitudes. Minus one-star for the small size and minus one-star for Pepsi products. So go and be ready to drop $10.00 for 3-dogs, chips and a Pepsi product.

4 Stars for a hot dog place?! Yep, in a "nothing fancy always get what you expect" kind of way. You're here for the hot dogs, and that's what you order. "All The Way" is the only way (chili, mustard and onions). Want to venture out- go all the way, add mayo. (Don't judge 'til you try). It's bottled soft drinks, chips and a slice of cake to round out the meal. Friendly service that starts with "for here or to go?". Stay in, get the table service and enjoy a classic small-town hot dog joint feel. Oh, and the language you use in church is good enough for here. That's what the sign says.

I am not fond of hot dogs however my husband loves the hotdogs at this restaurant. Admittedly they only serve one thing and they have many many stores and that does grab your attention. Over Christmas we decided to stop in and he would have hot dogs and I would later on have something else. Upon entering the restaurant the aroma of the chili hit me hard. We sat at the counter. My husband had to mustard chili and onions. I couldn't help myself I had one and it was so good I had another.

The service and atmosphere were great. The hot dogs were simply awful. No flavor or taste. Not sure what the hot dogs were made from.

The hotdogs seem boiled, definitely not grilled. Nothing exceptional about them. Imagine 7-11, but with a higher price. Service is quick!

Keep hearing about how the food is good but I never receive the same level of quality of food. Unsure why. A.1. Don't underestimate the customer service experience was flawless. The food quality is a failure. There needs to be a minimum of quality standards for the restaurant to achieve this by having the food match the picture of the food in the menu. With that said, I debated on coming to Five Guys after a long day of travel from Honolulu the evening before. That lure of the custom burger that Five Guys knows is often inescapable. As such, I arrived here after 845pm on a brisk and quiet Thursday October night. The restaurant was relatively quiet and empty. Thankfully that they didn't close up at 9pm. The restaurant itself was large enough to hold about 35 ish people at any one time. It was relatively clean and nice ad the same time. My basic order was a cheese burger and large regular fries, since I had already purchased drinks elsewhere along the way to Greenville. The service here was weird, as most of the staff here looked like they were in high school or freshly out of it and working. The entire experience took maybe at most 15 minutes from start to finish. Too bad the location of this Five Guys wasn't closer to the Greenville Marriott. It was probably or felt like 1/4 mile walk from the hotel to the restaurant if not a lil bit more, crossing the parking lot, a grassy hill, a semi busy street that was surprisingly busy at that hour. For the most part though, the experience here at this Five Guys was uneventful. While the service was weird, it was fast, friendly, and pretty cool. The overall experience here at this Five Guys location in Greenville, South Carolina was basic, good, and typical Fast food flavor that you've come to expect from a business like this. This order was basically a take out order and I probably wouldn't have eaten in anyway. Felt creepy dining there after 830pm especially when I'm vacationing nearby in a hotel. That ambiance was definitely not good after 830pm especially when time for closing was quickly approaching. Still, Five Guys makes up for it with its delicious offerings on its menu. It is nice to have this Five Guys in the immediate vicinity when you're staying nearby, most notably the Greenville Marriott here in Greenville, SC. The location was basically perfect. Just need to not be lazy and lounging in your hotel room and grab what you are craving for dinner that night. That basically sums that night for me. And so, if you are staying in the area and craving a juicy custom burger, consider coming to this Five Guys location in Greenville, SC. Might just be the craving talking but, the fix is very real and very delicious! For me, it was just a coincidence since I saw it on the way to the Greenville Marriott. Lucky me. This Five Guys restaurant is located at 3935 Pelham Road in beautiful Greenville, SC. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. I would guess that credit cards are better due to the ongoing Covid 19 thing, but that's just me. As far as parking goes, there's a limited amount of parking here for those who choose to drive here. For me, I basically walked here from the Greenville Marriott, as mentioned above. Not sure about Greenville's public transportation here, but if they do, please use the correct bus routes to get you here. Five Guys is nationally known for their custom burgers. While they're certainly not cheap as to their other national completion, they stand on their own and the taste is grand. Consider Five guys if your travels include a stop here in Greenville, SC. Your stomach may thank you later. 4.0 stars for the overall experience. 3.0 stars for the prices. 4.5 stars for the food and 4.0 stars for the service. Support local! B
