I went to the bar to request another beer and buy some pull tabs. I noticed the wall of pull tabs was entirely covered with Christmas decorations. When asked, Yonzo informed me that the new owner had not yet completed the process to offer pull tabs. Apparently, a new owner arrived in April of this year (2024). It was interesting to note that the entire place looked to be cleaner, with a very upbeat and friendly atmosphere. In all, we enjoyed the food and had a great time in the "new" tavern. We will be back. After all, this tavern is a piece of Bellingham's history.

Very delicious and with Swiss cheese was a unique choice that I appreciated. Next we shared the Cowboy Burger... when I went to pick up our food I knew we had made a great choice. The server handed us a hefty beef burger that was stacked high with cheese, bacon, tomato, pickles and onions rings, smothered in bbq sauce with a crispy onion ring on top to give this burger the golden crown it deserves. Be warned this burger stood almost 8 inches tall. A couple of criticisms I had were that it was difficult to enjoy these delicious burgers on a small food container. I would definitely like to see this food in a brick and mortar restaurant one day so I can properly enjoy these monster burgers. Secondly the fries were very greasy. After being seated, our waitress greeted us briefly and then disappeared. It took about 20 minutes to place our order because she never came back to the table. She didn't appear busy or overwhelmed--most of the time, she seemed to be in the kitchen. When she eventually returned, she brought our drinks and, later, our plates, but the plates were dirty and still had food on them. She set them down and walked away without noticing or addressing them. Once our food arrived, it was actually good, which was the one positive part of the experience. However, she never checked on us--not once--to see if we needed anything. At the end of the meal, she brought the card machine so we could pay and then walked away again without returning. We also asked for a to-go box, which never came. We eventually had to go to the bar and ask another staff member for one ourselves before leaving. Overall, the food was fine, but the service was consistently inattentive and frustrating from start to finish. Given that the restaurant wasn't busy, this was disappointing, and I hope they improve their level of service.

The terryaki state was okay since you can hide flavors with the sauce. My wife's plate only varied with her choice of ribs that were done but dry. Overall it was quite underwhelming. I've been here many times (breakfast mostly) and before when it was Dutch mothers. Hate to say it, but it was poorly executed and a dismal experience. Sorry, rustlers, ya need to improve.
