I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate Damian Roman's help in bike service. I had some complications with bike repairs which lead to several return visits. After a few visits, I said to Damian that it seemed to be making the problems worse and certainly a hassle for me to talk to a different person every time. He said, I understand, I'll take care of this, you can just talk to me. From that point on it was much easier for me and I think the problems were solved quicker and more thoroughly with him being my single contact. Damian kept me up to date on the status of ordered parts, research the problems online, talked to the manufacturer and called me several times to figure out the best solution. He also arranged for me to use one of your demo bikes (which I loved and may purchase some time in the future). I just returned from picking up my bike, he spent time reviewing the work, made a few adjustments and told me to come back if there was anything else he could do. Alison in the boot fitting department was very professional, polite, and super helpful at fitting me for a pair of downhill ski boots. Her customer service was exceptional and she made my experience personal by asking me follow-up questions about my skis and bindings. She could have simply stopped there...but the holistic approach she took to handling my boot problem was impressive. I had been to 3 other shops and didn't experience anything as comprehensive, engaged, and professional like the ski-rack. No other shop measured my foot 5 ways like they did....and it made a difference. Hats off to you guys for saving me the pain of improperly fitted boots and making my ski season that much more awesome! I don't write many reviews on Yelp, but I felt I had to this time because of the high quality of service I was able to get from this company. I recently made an online purchase from this store's website. When I received the order, I discovered that I got the wrong item because they hadn't updated the image on the product page. Naturally, I was disappointed and emailed them requesting that they fix the error. The reply I got and the subsequent follow-up emails were the textbook definition of great customer service. They apologized sincerely several times in the email and took responsibility for the mistake. They immediately issued a return shipping label and notified me of when I should see it in my inbox. They even offered me the choice between waiting until they had the correct item in stock or getting a full refund. And the response was very prompt. Now all of this may be expected, but I've rarely seen this caliber of professionalism in an email response to a customer service issue. I can't speak for the in-store experience, but if their store employees have anything close to the same type of training as their online service rep, and if I lived locally, I'd surely patronize this business. read more

Extra tall bikes available. I love to bike in any town that I visit , you get to see more of it and less time and go further than you might be able to. My girlfriend and I decided we wanted to bike along the causeway, a highly recommended route that is a converted railroad into a bike and walking path that runs from Burlington Into New York with a short ferry ride. Being as tall as I am, I need to have a bike that fits and works properly. These guys were open early and got our business. Our associate was friendly and attentive and because they had a huge selection of newer bikes, he helped us select the right bikes for our journey. We opted to add a basket to hold water and phones as well as a lock just to keep things safe, at no extra charge. The bikes were a little more expensive than we had anticipated because we chose the mid grade performance but we were ready to tackle the trail. As we were leaving the parking lot the basket on the bike started to droop down over the front wheel. We brought it back inside and the attendant tightened it up and said he should've checked the bikes before going out. We assumed all was well. The bikes were in pretty good shape for the first leg of 12 miles to the ferry and into New York. It was upon the return that we started having some trouble. The basket broke off of it mounting 75% because it had rusted through from overuse. And my bike started to squeaking when changing gears. We made it out and back. Great selection of gear, super-friendly and knowledgeable staff and an amazing return policy on running shoes are just some of the reasons I'll keep coming back for more. They have a great clearance rack in the back of the store too! Join GMAA for $10 to get a 15% discount on running gear. This was the first place I ever got a running gait evaluation on a treadmill. They do this really well! They have a treadmill set up right next to the running shoe area. You'll be asked to hop on it and run or walk at a pace comfortable for you. The Skirack person will then take a video of your feet from behind the treadmill. He/she will then show it to you and explain if you're a neutral, under or overpronator. They'll repeat this process for you in any number of shoes you want, and give you an analysis as to which shoe gives you the optimal gait. If you're a runner and you haven't done this, please do so! It's free! I discovered I was an overpronator. They helped me overcome an injury and find the best running shoe for me. read more

As an avid road biker, I was very pleased with the rental bikes from Skirack. We rented hybrids to ride along with the Lake and colchester causeway. Perfect way to explore Burlington. The route is very flat and anyone can spend a couple hours on these bikes. Price was decent $42 for both of us and they threw in an extra hour because it was Sunday afternoon. Don't hesitate. There's plenty of time to drink beer and eat afterwards. read more

Steve spent almost three hours with me selecting a bike. He had me road test three bikes by riding them down along the Burlington Bike Path and back. He tried to keep the price down by showing me a used bike. Once I selected the right bike for me, he helped me with every extra piece of equipment I wanted. When I returned to pick up my bike, Luke spent at least an hour of one-on-one time with me. He made sure I understood how everything worked. When I needed an extra bar for my bike rack, the SkiRack lent me one while I waited for mine to come in. Overall, I was extremely happy with the service. Huge selection, friendly people, and mostly decent prices. The people seem to be very knowledgeable, but are willing to admit when they are not. There is sometimes a wait to be helped when the store is busy but the staff seems to actually care that you had to wait and willing to provide you their attention when they do get to you. Skirack is incredible. They were lifesavers as I starting to run more, finding me the right pair of shoes and helping me replace my cottons shirts. They support the community, sponsoring a casual run on Thursday evenings. What put it over the top for me, though, was when I took my bike in today. I know absolutely nothing about bikes, but knew I hadn't touched mine in 9 months and had no idea what shape it was in. I brought it in and asked for a tune-up. They inspected it, told me everything was fine, wiped it down, and filled up my tires--telling me it didn't need anything else and not charging me a dime. They easily could have taken it behind the counter, charged me $60, and I wouldn't have known the difference. This is why they'll keep getting my business. read more

I had a huge problem with my ski boots - they were 1 size too big and way too roomy for me in the toe box and sides. I stopped by Ski rack 20 min before closing time last Saturday, desperately searching for some help, to salvage my boot so that I could ski the next day. Mike helped me immediately. He was very knowledgeable, removing the liner so that he could see if the boot shell was too big for my foot, and it was. He went to get some shims to fit into my boot to make it tighter for me. He worked really quickly, cutting them out in the work room and coming back to attach them to my boot shell, not rushing at all even though it was closing time. It was such a good experience for me. He saved my ski weekend! Now I wish I could visit soon for a new boot... Anyone who needs to fit a ski boot should look for Mike. read more

Mike took the time to bring me up to speed on what has happened in the intervening 30 years since I last bought a ski package. He was very friendly and very informative. Unsolicited customer testimonial. I recently bought 2 pairs of snowshoes from Skirack. The first time out with them, one of the shoes was missing a vital rivet. Fortunately, I was able to cobble something together to get through the hike, thanks to the staff at the lodge at the Mountain Top Inn in Chittendon, VT for the rivet. They also mentioned that they were sure the Skirack folks would take care of the issue since they've always had good dealings themselves with these guys. When I got home, I emailed the 'rack and they contacted the manufacturer for the missing part. Today, Riley from the Skirack called me and offered to send the part or a new pair of snowshoes! Of course, I opted to swap the shoes for the new pair (selfish customer I am). But, that is above and beyond. So, thanks Skirack. I have a new 'go to' place for all my winter sports and bike stuff. I had driven 2 hours to Burlington to do a 40 mile bike ride. 4 miles in my shifter broke. I brought it to Skirack as it is the largest shop in Burlington. They looked at it and said I needed a part but they didn't have it and even if they did, they probably were too busy to do it. They said I should check with North Star Sports across the street. No offer of rental or of trying to adjust the bike or do a partial repair. When I went to Northstar, a much smaller shop, they put it on the stand, diagnosed the problem but also didn't have the part. She called 3 other shops and found a part but then said that I could rent a bike. She also figured out how to gerrymander a fix which allowed me to complete the ride and get the bike fixed at home This summarizes the difference between an adequate shop with ok customer service and a great shop read more

Great group of guys and also great products. Around August of this year I purchased a high end road bike and could not be happier. The bike is extremely comfortable and fit the three main check boxes I had - I just so happened to also pop in on a very very lucky sale and scored my dream road bike at an incredible price. For the life of me I can't recall the guy who helped me on the bike floor (cyclist as well, glasses), but, he was very knowledge and was very helpful in helping adjust the bike/offer suggestions/etc.. Also, I was stuck between two bikes and he did not try to push me to the more expensive bike either. I had a bike fit session at Skirack this past weekend with Sean Whipkey. It was the most detailed process; Sean covered everything! We started with a physical therapy assessment of my strength, flexibility and biomechanics. We talked about past and present injuries as well as what my goal was for the session. Sean videoed me on the bike and we made appropriate adjustments as needed. I liked that Sean didn't try to sell me a bunch of product to get the bike to fit me better. It wasn't a sales pitch. It was simply a team effort to make me faster, more efficient, more comfortable and injury free! I got a full detailed assessment and video clips e-mailed to me the next day. I took my bike in for a tune up last fall. The chain was pretty clean, but the guy tried to sell me a new one. Then asked specifically if I use a dry lube, and I told him yes, I use a wax based lube. Got the bike back with chain covered in wet greasy oil. This attracts dirt that wears the chain, and worse I'm constantly getting nasty black grease on myself and clothes. Really @&_$);! sick of this and need to pay to have it cleaned prematurely. read more
