Stopped in for a couple cold ones on a recent visit to the area. Nice to see this new place open up over the top of the previous joint. Didn't order any food but atmosphere is nice, cool little local watering hole place. Great friendly service at the bar, playing some nice classic rock music over the system, but not too loud where you can't converse. Place looked like it could use some rehab work on the interior, I'm sure they'll be getting to that as they gain some success in the area. Fabulous hand breaded fingers that are huge and very juicy. Pizza logs are worthy of a visit by themselves. Nice menu with lots to choose from. House wine is very good. Prices are very competitive! read more

Great new startup in the heart of the Village food is very good a very large selection of draft beers and liquor. Great friendly owners and a great place on game day!! Really did not see much of a change from the last place that was located here. We were not greeted or acknowledged for too long. Menu is on placemat. Nothing new or great is featured. Same old burgers and dinners... Our fish frys were pathetic. Supposedly fresh cut fries were inedible. Potatoes in salad were hard. Cole slaw was good and I suspect it was from BJ's. Roll was stale as was the rye bread! Waitress was nice and we just didn't feel like complaining to her... but seriously where is the quality control. Don't they want repeat business? They should also clean up the place. Garbage should not be by entrance. read more

Just got done here and I think it's a great place. Much better than the old restaurant, Eddie Ryan's. The fries were delicious, wings were appetizing and the price was not through the roof. I love the fact that there are TVs in many locations as we were watching a football game so it was great to see from any part of the table. The server was friendly but she was slow getting us things at times, she was also the only one left serving for the night so I do not blame her at all. Overall a great place within walking distance of my apartment that I will gladly go to often. read more

My husband and I went in for the first time for a fish fry. This was my first time there since it was originally Eddie Ryans. Have to say - what an improvement! The place is clean and the staff are very friendly. We had great service both at the bar and at the table. The menu selection was huge and the fish fry - one of the best I have ever had. My experience this evening was not the best. Arrived at about 9pm. Dining room is open until 10pm on weekends. Waited to be seated and waited, someone finally seated us. We ordered our food and it took a bit long for my husband to get his French onion soup that he later told me was cold but was hungry so he ate it any way. Our entrees, a burger and a Reuben took a very long time to come and we were the only ones in the dining room. I have to say the food was very good and my burger was cooked perfectly med rare. The Reuben was a special that night and was amazing. The only complaint with the food was that I ordered bacon on my burger and it did not have any. When I told the waitress she said "oh yeah I noticed that" but i don't understand why she didn't tell the cooks before bringing it out. She asked if I wanted them to cook some up and I said no thank you, why would I wait for bacon to cook to eat my food?? She gave me a hard time because she said she already charged me for it so I said "well take it off the bill" She never came back to check to see how our food was after we took our first bites or anything in between and we ran out of drinks and there was no one to be found to refill them. My last complaint is that she dropped off our check and started vacuuming and we sat there waiting for her to run the credit card for too long. We went here once before and had such a great experience and I was deeply disappointed this time. read more

I was excited to see this new place on Central Ave open after Eddie Ryan's. I participated in the Lancaster Village Wine Walk and went into Skoobs as one of the stops. I have yet to eat here, but this review is on the staff first impressions and these impressions were not good. I encountered three employees. One smoking a cigarette right outside the door on her phone saying she can't wait to get the hell out of here. Not classy. Second employee saw how we were confused and never helped us or said a word when we were wondering where we go inside to get our sample tastings. And the third employee, just said we're done doing it, and that was that. This was before the 7pm stop time. Alrighty then, all in all, we were in and out in minutes. read more

I love that there is finally a place to stop and enjoy a bite to eat in the village but It's very disappointing that it seems like there is only 1 server for the entire dining room and extremely slow service. She didn't seem very knowledgeable about the menu and couldn't answer the questions. Hope it doesn't affect the business. Fingers crossed it turns around! read more

Great food and good service are a trend for this restaurant. This restaurant has quickly become a family favorite. We have tried a number of different dishes (Bacon Jam burger, wings and chicken strips) and have found them all to be delicious. I highly recommend this place. read more

This was our first visit to Skoobs since they opened a few weeks ago. We were very excited to see Eddie Ryan's close and something new in the village. I really wanted to give it 4 or 5 stars, but this place still needs a little help. The service was very good. I would go again and recommend the burgers, fries, and homemade pizza rolls. The french onion soup needed salt and seemed a little watered down. The flatbreads were nothing special. If the food was better, it would make up for the atmosphere. The chairs are old and probably from 1970. The tablecloths are old and I'm not sure why they are still using rubber tablecloths in 2018. There is barely any decor on the walls, but still a mix of old shiny brass fixtures and new rustic decor. Put a couple hundred bucks into painting the old wood black! Skoobs, I want you to do WELL! I am hoping things will improve as they work out the kinks and make a little money to put back into the restaurant read more

To all my friends and family. By all chances avoid skoobs village grille in downtown Lancaster. ( old eddy ryans). My fiance and I had the worst experience ever in my life. It took us 5 minutes to be noticed at the front door. 10 mins to be seated after that. We ordered soup salad wings and a poutine for an appetizer. Poutine (fries,gravy,cheese curds). After 25 mins of waiting it came to the table. In front of us was old fries dosed in grease and melted cheese. After now 45mins and no food my fiance stepped outside while I settled the bill. The owner then proceeded to tell me she had no clue what we were talking about it was perfect and pointed out "cheese curds" touching his bare hands to the food. And he also stated "well I was wondering why she stormed out of here like a typical woman" meaning my fiance. Our server was great but the owner was absolutely horrid. And after i walked out to meet my fiance outside. The owner came out of the restaurant behind us and asked us not to put a negative comment on Yelp. ( ok we wont lol) And then had another arguement with my fiance and I on the sidewalk outside of the restaurant. Reiterating that she didn't know what she was talking about. We heard that the former Eddie Ryan's has new ownership and new look, so we decided to give it a try on Friday. When we arrived, it was very busy but they had a pub table in the bar. The beer was cold, service was great, and the food was fantastic. I had the fish fry (I chose breaded). Comes with the usual salads (homemade) and fresh cut fries. Everything was delicious. Fish was perfectly cooked. Hubby had a burger and pizza rolls (also homemade) -- both were excellent. Great place! Officially my new go-to for fish fry on Friday! We will be back! read more

My friend and I stopped at Skoobs last nite for a beer and something to eat, Was surprised when the whole menu was on a placemat. We got our beer but not much of a head on it which means the glasses are not up to snuf--she had mac/shrimp/cheese and I had chicken fingers came w/fries both were very good. Only complaint--not a real homespun "Village" bar---chairs were from the 60's and nothing in the place that said we were having a good time in our hometown---just people coming and going like a bus station!!. read more

Went here the other night. We're seated immediately. The hostess, waitress were very attentive. As we sat with our party, we relaxed and had a few drinks before ordering. The waitress came several times to take our order, we were in no hurry. After ordering, food came within 40 minutes. Again, we were with family and not in a hurry. Everything was outstanding. Lived in Lancaster for the past 16 years.. excited to try this new restaurant since Eddie Ryan's didn't do well. Tried it last night for dinner with my husband. Three waitresses working.. not crowded at all.. waited about 15 minutes before we walked out. No one ever came over to take our drink order. Awful service.... Skoobs is a great place if you're looking for casual dining and great food! The pot roast is to die for served with a delicious creamy horseradish that's perfectly portioned! Don't miss out on the homemade tenders, crunchy and juicy and can be sauced in a variety of sauces offered (the Carolina gold is a favorite)! Along with the homemade and cut fries and homemade pizza rolls my friends love coming here for a good bite and good laugh! Staff really is really friendly and ALOT of really tasty draft beers to choose from! Definitely will be a regular customer and excited about this new little joint opening up so close! Had very bad experiences with this place. There was a Monday night that was exceptionally bad. Asked about the wing sauces, the waitress recommended one, I asked if it could be on the side. Ordered wings and fries for four people and a flatbread. Took over an hour and a half. Let me repeat that: an hour and a half. Comes out and there's no sauce, just a dry rub in a plastic sauce cup. Would have been nice to know this. A manager came out checking the tables, a member of our party complained about the wait. Instead of apologizing, he defended that everything made there was from scratch. Look, you didn't make the chickens yourself. Just apologize for the wait, discount a couple bucks off the menu, and make people happy to come back. Managers should be leaders of positive experiences and know their branding. Drinks are not cheap, you can go to the Yelling Goat down the street for cheaper. read more
