We had a great time at Skull & Crown. Definitely worth the drive out of Waikiki to get out of the crowds and enjoy a real tiki bar experience. Both the food and cocktails were amazing! Prices were steep but it's Hawaii and I felt it was worth it with the quality of the drinks and the size of the food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor was really cool[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and the service was very fast and friendly. It's a small place and it was very busy, even at 8 on a Thursday night so I would highly recommend making a reservation!

Awesome tiki bar in Chinatown Honolulu! The Mai Tais are excellent, and their repertoire of other tiki drinks are all outstanding. Had the Dagger and their traditional Mai Tai and loved them both. The food is also top notch. The chicken wings were crispy and flavorful and my wife loved her tofu lettuce wraps. Awesome that they were able to adjust some of the dishes for vegetarians. Service was great, but they were busy with a big party so we did wait a bit between drinks and courses. It's a pricey dinner, so probably a once in a while spot, and recommend a reservation if you want a table! Overall one of my favorite tiki spots worldwide!

We had such a great time at Skull & Crown! I ordered the Koloa Colada, and it was perfectly balanced. It tasted clean, well-crafted, and had just the right amount of sweetness to complement the rum. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is lively, and it's a popular spot, so reservations are recommended.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also offer a small but varied selection of food options. The staff was friendly and attentive, always ensuring our water glasses were full. Free street parking was a bonus. Would absolutely come back!

Skull & Crown Trading Co. is a tiki bar located in the Chinatown area of Honolulu. We made reservations but it was pretty empty on a Wednesday night. The crystal skull ($20) was a clarified drink and was spice forward (mostly cinnamon) but easy to drink. The jaded jungle ($18) was sweet, light, and refreshing. The skull and crown ($40) is their namesake drink that serves two and it was good with hints of absinthe. The dagger mai tai ($20) is a collaboration with Smuggler's Cove in San Francisco consisting of a secret recipe but had fruity berry notes on the front and was spirit-forward on the back. A lot of our drinks had the cinnamon sprinkle over top to give a fire show. There was decor everywhere including a giant woman statue in the middle looking up. Throughout our time here the lights went in and out and spooky music would come on, adding to the ambiance.

We happened upon this establishment while talking a stroll through Chinatown, on Hotel Street. We were looking for somewhere to grab some after dinner drinks & dessert. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Don't judge this establishment by the storefront, as you'll need to walk in to really see how they themed the decor with their name. From the sound of storms to the skulls on posts and ship paraphernalia, it was a constant reminder as to where you were. Fun![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The establishment was clean--restroom is always the tell-all.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Customer service was great--we never had to wave anyone down for another drink, as someone was always coming by to check in on us. Remember this drink: Crystal Skull (Clarified Zombie) Yum! It wasn't what we were expecting--let's say that we were pleasantly surprised! This drink is presented beautifully--loved the branded ice cube--and the taste and flavors are just smooth & so enjoyable! Definitely a must-try! We ended the evening sharing an Ube Tres Leches and wow--it was truly the perfect way to close out a night of delicious libations and a dessert. I'll be back to try their dinner menu!

Get your reservations now!!!! Loved the pirate ‍ sailor vibe. Super fun cool cocktails! Plates are small but easy to share. Each dish was packed with flavor. The ribs fell off the bone . Lettuce wraps. Am with a sauce I wanted to place in a jar and take home!!! Nachos were so good I wanted another plate. This place is small and good so you probably won't get a table unless you have a reservation!!!!

Stopped by during our visit to check out this cool fun spot! Cocktails were delicious especially the skull drink. Service was amazing and everyone was so nice. The ambiance is funky and fun! Make reservations to secure your spot but walk ins are acceptable if there is space Did not get to try much of the food

Navy Grog with traditional ice cone! Delicious

We travel for tiki... Skull & Crown did not disappoint! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great ambiance in a traditional tiki space that is welcoming and inviting. The escapism is just what we had hoped for.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Best background music too! Lots of classic and modern exotica.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Sat at the bar so we could watch all the drinks being made and so happy we did. Making tiki drinks is an art form as so much goes into them. We had a Navy Grog, King Kō Swizzle, and the non-alcoholic Sunset Passion. All of them were so delicious and it was fun to have the Navy Grog with the traditional ice cone! Attention to detail was obvious as was the quality of ingredients and rum! Everyone working was very sweet and it was just good vibes all around We did not eat but they do have a full restaurant and what we saw people ordering all looked yummy Highly recommend when you're in town; a wonderful place to get away from the hustle of Waikiki and enjoy a local gem

We visited on a Friday night, after taking a ride share from Waikiki beach resort area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant and bar is a full Tiki experience- complete with carefully selected artifacts and decor, treasures and Japanese fish floats and all the brick a Brack you expect to find in an adventure escapism themed bar. A beautiful cast mermaid behind the bar, tiki carvings and a ship wheel and other ocean things. It really creates a mood and atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are lighting affects and a low track of midcentury instrumental music you would find at Trader Vic's or Don the Beachcomber.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered a few dishes off of the menu, and had two rounds of cocktails. The food was fantastic - every aspect was spot-on. We loved the drinks, and they were very balanced with great bright flavors and over the top garnishes and matching glassware. The team working there is top notch and friendly, both the service manager and our waiter were knowledgeable and welcoming. We loved it here! Make sure you check it out!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This little place is off the beaten tourist path in Chinatown, but has the coolest vibes of any tiki bar I've been to in island.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor is done right. They hit all the details of spooky and fun. Even the lights flicker to the music and thunder.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Great selection of drinks and appetizers. Service was in point, and the place was packed even during the week. My only regret is they didn't have any tiki mugs available for purchase. They had glasses but I would have loved to take home a mug from this place as I collect them....and this place is worth a momento. Apparently they drop them and they are very collectible

    Delicious drinks and cool decor!

It's rare to find a craft cocktail bar with food that's as good as the cocktails, but Crown and Skull is it! [[HIGHLIGHT]]A very chill tiki vibe with great service from Jason, whose recs were spot on.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Everything was good, but stars of the show: - Hanalei Moon, a mild coconut cream piña colada - Dagger, a mystery mai tai with notes you've ever tried before - Ahi Katsu, paired with pickled onions that perfectly cut the fried exterior

    Chinatown Ambience

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great staff, amazing food and great decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff take pride in all that they do and it shows. 10/10

    Andie Hojun L.

I didn't take all the pics of the food but everything was delicious and fun cocktails! A bit on the pricier side but [[HIGHLIGHT]]it's a fun place and had great service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Ask the Community - Skull & Crown Trading

Are there branded tiki mugs for purchase?

Tiki mugs available on occasion but no bar-specific regular release, more like limited run mugs. Mai Tai Glasses, pins, and shirts more common but when we went they were sold out of everything, so check back often?

Aloha, I'm trying to make a reservation on RESY for January 21, 2023 at 7:00 pm. The RESY site wouldn't let me. Does S &C have another number, besides the one that is not…

It appears they only book out a month in advance. I am not affiliated with the company, but dined there once. That was sort of what I figured out looking at their availability when I made my reservation a few months back.

Can we bring a well behaved 11 year old who's a tiki enthusiast and loves cool dining atmospheres?

Yes - S&C is a restaurant as well, and welcomes kids! Happy to serve a mocktail for them as well!

Can we get a drink at the bar without a reservation?

It is possible to get a drink at the bar if there are no standing reservations and there are seats available. However, if there are reservations for the seats within the hour, those seats are unavailable.

Is food served all day? I have a reservation today at 7pm and wanted to have dinner there as well.

Tuesday - Thursday, food is served from open to 8PM; Friday and Saturday, until 9PM. Food is from…

Are they taking only reservations or can we just walk-in?

You can technically walk in, but the place is tiny and you should definitely make reservations if you want to get in.

Can we take our 17 year old there? Do you serve food?

    Yes and yes

But, we were pleasantly impressed by the food and our server Maka. We were seated at an outside table by a host, but it was hot. We asked if we could be changed to an inside table, but the host told us we would have to go back to the host stand and wait for another table. Our party of 7 decided to stay where we were. Then our server, Maka came with water and introduced himself . He asked if we wanted to switch tables because it was hot. He was very perceptive and he was able to change our table. We knew from that point we had an awesome server. During our time at Tikis, Maka thoroughly explained the menu to us and gave excellent food recommendations. He came by to check on us throughout our meal to see if everything was good and if we needed anything. We were appreciative of his kindness. The food was great! The coconut shrimp and kalua pork quesadillas were delicious. The guava ribs were fall off the bone good! Our table also ordered the coconut chicken and volcano wings. All the items were very tasty. We even received chicken taro, compliments from the chef, which made of feel real special. TIP: Go during Happy Hour to try samples of their appetizers at a good price! It's such a fun place to hang out, and when the live band is playing, it's even better. They're interactive, entertaining, and create such a great experience. Unfortunately, the customer service has been consistently disappointing. The bartender has always seemed friendly, but the waitresses have been cold and often come across as rude. We usually want to come here, but the service makes it a hard sell sometimes. We'd love to bring more visiting family and friends here, but it's honestly a 50/50 decision because we never know what kind of service we'll get. The food is decent, but nothing that really stands out. The coconut shrimp and onion rings are both good, and the drinks are definitely a highlight. The piña colada is honestly one of the best we've had. For our family of five, plus two beers and one piña colada, lunch came to about $175 including tip. That's pretty expensive, so we only come on rare occasions. At that price point, we'd expect warmer, friendlier service. We initially gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed we had visited on off days, but after several visits--including this past Friday with many of the same waitresses--we've found the service to be consistently cold and unwelcoming.
