Had a reservation for Sunday at 5:00 for an anniversary dinner. We only had Salads and few rolls which were delicious! The American Roll, the Cale Roll and the Demon roll. So beautifully prepared and just perfect textures throughout. As a surprise, we were given a dessert to celebrate our anniversary. First time experiencing this place I had the large Sushi Boat, Kettering Roll and Lettuce Wraps. The next morning I immediately wanted to return. Everything I ate was absolutely delicious! This place is hit or miss, depending on who prepares the sushi and/or if it's busy. A few consistences: Great and friendly service, decent nigiri (for Dayton), and enjoyable atmosphere. I've been here a handful of times now... And I believe sometimes they double fry the shrimp tempura and/or have a batch ready to go... And as a result, the tempura is much tougher and cold. This was the case for our encounter this evening. We ordered one of the same rolls we've enjoyed before, and it was much less appetizing because of the toughness. For sushi exclusively in the Dayton area or close by, this place is one of the better restaurants. It's not great, but not bad. However, the time I was here before this last encounter, the roll also had shrimp tempura in it, and the roll overall was excellent. I don't ever mind waiting long for better preparation. ...but I realize that probably isn't a shared sentiment for many of your other customers. If you are looking for a great sushi place in Dayton, this makes the list. Beautifully decorate!!! Full bar too. Came on a weekday, seated immediately. Plenty of seating options. Waitress came by right away, very friendly. You can get hot tea, even thought it is not listed in the menu. We ordered a special roll (had mango and salmon), and chicken udon noodle soup. Salad and miso soup came out quite quickly, and were the standard for any Japanese restaurant. The soup and roll came out about 20 min out from ordering. The noodles were perfectly cooked and great. Plenty of chicken and bok choy in the soup. The broth could have been a little more flavorful, but overall good. The special roll was great. We ordered another small roll afterwards as we still were a little hungry. I would probably get my udon pan fried next time instead of the soup if you get noodles here. One star removed because service was good until we got our meal, and then water and tea sat empty for most of the meal, needed to actually flag down someone to order another roll and to get our check. However, this will be high on our list for sushi in the future. read more

A friend and I stopped in yesterday because of the half price sushi lunch deals. We didn't check the days and realized we came in the one day it wasn't applicable--oops! Either way, the sushi was delicious, as was the miso soup. The whole atmosphere was very welcoming and clean, and the bathrooms were very clean as well. The server was extremely kind and cheerful. He actually apologized to us as he felt like he'd neglected us and even gave us a 10% discount on our bill! If you love you some sushi, Sky Asian Cuisine is an excellent place to get you some. Food: we stopped in for lunch, so took advantage of the lunch specials ($9 for any two rolls + soup or salad). We also tried the edamame (lovely, as it should be), and the vegetable gyoza (any dumpling is a friend of mine). The vegetable sushi roll was fine, but nothing out of the ordinary. The peanut avocado rolls BLEW. MY. MIND. This peculiar but perfect combination of creamy avocado and salty, crunchy peanuts is definitely something to be experienced. The miso soup was delicate and hot, but could have used a little more wakame. Ambience/service: the decor was relatively subdued, almost a corporate feel, which is fine, but this is not a particularly cozy, warm place to enjoy a meal. That said, the staff was polite, attentive, and knowledgeable, which definitely added to our overall dining experience. For good sushi in Dayton, (especially if you like avocados and peanuts), Sky Asian Cuisine is certainly worth a look-see. read more

BLUF: A little more expensive than other Chinese places, but well worth the added cost. It's more sit down style than fast food, so plan your time accordingly. It's hard to find good Chinese in the area and usually as soon as you do they go out of business. I'm really hoping that Sky stays for a good long while. The service has always been great when I've come here. The food is a little more expensive than most Chinese restaurants but the entire experience is a bit fancier. Service was a tad slow (took about 40 mins to serve two salads, yaki-udon & cucumber maki). Only two other tables were in the restaurant so I'm not sure why it was so slow. In nearly 50 years of being alive, I have never once returned a meal from a restaurant. But, this time, I could not bring myself to eat a menu item that was so wrongly and badly made. One (and only) positive: my friend (Michael) enjoyed his meal. When the Nabeyaki Udon came out, the tofu was undercooked. The outside was cooked, but the inside was nearly raw. Also, no tempura. So, I asked the server, Brandon, if he would mind taking it back. Ten minutes later, it came back out again. Not re-done correctly, but just re-heated. What this did was overcook the egg so that the yolk was cooked through thoroughly. And, I took pictures. I asked Brandon if he would just take it off the bill. Shortly thereafter, the manager came and apologized and said that it was removed from the bill. She also indicated that she did not normally order the Nabeyaki Udon, so she was not sure how precisely it should have been made. Nabeyaki Udon is a staple dish for any Japanese restaurant that lists it on its menu. In my humble opinion, it should not be on a menu if it cannot be made properly. Anyhow, it was a busy night and Brandon came back only once more to ask if there was anything else that he could do and to bring the bill. In fact, Michael had to flag down Brandon to get his attention. I can understand that he was probably trying to maximize his earnings from other patrons who would likely tip better (given my clearly visible disappointment). But, that precipitous drop in service after returning the dish (twice) simply made a bad experience worse. I am sure that many others enjoyed their evening and their meal. Alas, I was not one of them. I paid for Michael's meal and still left a tip (over 10%), but it was certainly not my usual 25%. read more

Stopped in for dinner to this delightful restaurant. Selection is the name of the game here. There is a lot to choose from, both Sushi, drinks and entrees. For starters we had the Oysters and Sea Urchin rolls. I'm still not a huge Oyster fan, but the ponzu sauce helped diminish the fishy taste. I was less excited about the Sea Urchin roll but the better half liked it, so it's probably just not my taste. We also tried some Sake, which somehow I'd never had before.. Ozeki Karatamba is a nice smooth Sake but given the portions I was warned were appropriate you could easily share a 300 ml bottle with 4 people unless you are trying to add sheets to your wind. For soup the Hot and Sour Soup which was piping hot. Maybe a tad TOO piping hot, but nobody can accuse this restaurant of just putting soup in a microwave to serve back to you! For an entree the General Tso Chicken, which at first glance didn't seem like much, cleverly disguised in what looked like a taco bowl (I had to resist the urge to eat the bowl too.. I'll be honest). There was a lot in here, but like the Soup it might have been a bit too hot. I had to wait a few minutes before eating it because it was burn my mouth hot! My only real complaint here was the price. Granted we were a bit extravagant with the Oysters, Sake and Sushi, but $100 with tip did seem to be a bit much. Having said that, I'd come back here without hesitation to try one of the many other menu items. read more

Pad Thai is awful. The color and taste is like it is coated it in ketchup. I couldn't eat it. I read through these reviews to see if I'm the only one. Great lunch specials with options ranging from sushi rolls (2 for $9) to lunch boxes consisting of your choice of entree, rice, soup & salad, a California roll, and these amazing little fried shrimp balls - all for $12. My group tried a variety of things: beef teriyaki, sushi, Kung Pao chicken, and my favorite, mango chicken! excellent presentation and superior quality compare to other similar restaurants in the area. I am writing a review based on Sky Asian Cuisine delivery. First off. To have a resturant that has sushi and delivery in Dayton is just completely incredible. I am reviewing two delivery orders. I was not able to leave my apartment and was really craving sushi. Using Yelp I was able to find out that Sky Asian Cuisine has delivery like most Asian resturants. But this resturant has sushi and like I said I was really craving sushi and good sushi. Having eaten sushi lunch at Sky Asian a couple times it was a no brainer to try delivery sushi. Ordering was simple and a big thank you to Sky Asian since I am half a mile outside their delivery range. The delivery time from order to knocking on door was between 45 minutes to 1 hour. Just alittle longer then pizza delivery First order I placed was the sushi lunch special thats 3 rolls for $12. The 3 rolls I chose was the tuna roll, spicy tuna roll and the peanut avocado roll. I also ordered the magic roll. All 3 regular rolls were really good. Though even though I like spicy tuna roll the most, the peanut avocado roll was really tasty. Wasnt sure how I would like the magik roll but was pleasently surprised. The fish for all rolls were fresh tasting and tasty. The rice was good. Not as good as when its fresh to your table but for delivery it was good. The next order was the same as above but I added a second lunch special of salmon roll, spicy crunchy salmon roll and sweet potato tempura roll. The tuna roll, spicy tuna roll, and magic roll was just as good as the first order. I chose the salmon and spicy crunchy salmon roll becuase I wanted something different. Not a big fan of salmon. I did like the salmon but prefered the tuna. The salmon was still very tasty and fresh. The sweet potato tempura roll was really good. On par with the peanut avocado roll. Overall I was pleased with this sushi delivery. I highly recommend if you want sushi and do not want or cant leave your home/work. read more
