The fried chicken roll was very nice. I would order it again. 2. Christmas Roll (4/5) The roll was huge and was crunchy, soft and had a nice taste. 3. Some of the best Asian/Japanese food we've had ever, anywhere. My husband had Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura and I took a walk on the wild side (for me) with Beef Negimaki. It was different and very flavorful. Whatever the green tea is that they serve, it was also the best we've ever tasted! It had a nice nutty flavor and no hint of bitterness. Paradise roll is the absolute best sushi roll I have ever had! It comes with banana (sounds weird but it's so good) tempura shrimp and lobster with a soy wrapper and a mango sauce. Their hibachi is just ok. The fried rice I wouldn't really consider fried and it tastes like fish sauce. I always get the shrimp hibachi and it's very good. Their prices are pretty high compared to other places but they are fresh. 4 stars just because the prices are a bit high for the amount of food you get. read more

Our waitress even brought our check and then was surprised that we hadn't gotten our food even though she never brought it to us. Mixed review. We went on June 7, 2023, and tried the luncheon menu. First I tried an eel/avocado roll appetizer, $ 10. I prefer the eel on top of the rice rather than wrapped in it. That conceals much of the taste. I won't try that again. Next. I ordered the Hibachi luncheon special with chicken. That was $ 21. My wife ordered the Bento Box with chicken. That was $ 15 Each meal came with a small cup of wonton soup. The prices may seem high, but the portions were enormous. Consider splitting a takeout. Each plate had numerous items. Vegetables in sauce, California rolls, Fried rice which was so so, something round and fried. Not sure what it was. Tasted like fish. The fried items were not crisp. The chicken portion was generous enough but the texture was odd. I thought it was Tofu, until I dissected it and it was chicken. I think I would have preferred Tofu. It wasn't what I expected for "Hibachi." My wife also thought the texture was odd. More like Spam. We did take ample portions home, and the cold chicken, after cooling, clearly looked and tasted like shredded chicken. I ate the leftovers. My wife did not. Edit. I just examined the hibachi chicken closely. It's pressed chicken, no whole pieces. That explains the very soft texture which I thought had a texture like tofu, while my wife thought it had a texture like spam. I'm posting a photo of the chicken. Comparisons. Sushi. Dorothy Lane Market remains the standard bearer for well prepared sushi. DLM even makes an excellent California roll. We did not like these California rolls. Wonton soup. P.f. Chang's is our go to place for Wonton soup. However, this was not heavily salted and a good choice for those on a low sodium diet. Chinese food. This is not a Chinese restaurant, but they do have some similar fried items. We didn't try those items. P.f. Chang's and the Cheesecake Factory have very good Chinese restaurant type food. Beverage. We always get tea at Asian restaurants. Dragon Oolong is our favorite. They only have green tea, so we had water, which was good. Kettering has very good water. The service was excellent and I tipped $ 12 on a $ 46 bill. Ambience was very pleasant. More of what you'd expect in an above average restaurant. read more

I have gotten food from here only twice so far... In the age of COVID, we have only gotten take away so far. The food has been very good, the people at the counter have been very courteous, my order was available on time, and the packing of the food in the take away bags was superior (you rarely find a take away treated with such care). Go check them out! Though we have not eaten in yet, the dining room looks nice and clean, but unfortunately for us, there are a lot of hard surfaces such that there seems to be a lot of noise and echoing. This would not have been an issue when we were younger but harder for us as our hearing is not as good as it once was. While this sort of decor continues to trend in restaurants and bars (and probably is economical for the facilities), we keep hoping restaurants will chose to use material that dampen the noise. read more

Heard great things, wanted to try it out for sure cause we are foodies. We got a new guy, wasn't knowledgeable but very kind and did his best. So the menu does explain anything so we had to ask questions cause we have allergies. We ordered the Spicy Crunchy tuna roll and the Salmon cucumber roll, and pineapple rice which comes with soup or salad. We got wonton soup. It's was so so flavorful and good, I thought oh this is going to be good. The rolls! We're incredibly tasty and delicious, and then we sat. And we sat, and we sat. The waiter asked us how everything was- and if we needed anything, just the pineapple fried rice. So we waited some more. That was disappointing. The pineapple was so tiny you couldn't tell it was pineapple, it was dry and the chicken tasted strange. Then on top of that there were cashews in it, but we wouldn't have been able to know that cause it wasn't on the description. So all in all, soup good, sushi good, but there are enough good sushi places we would probably not bother to drive all the way down again. Prices were high and food was not worth cost. Another thing we noticed is when a couple came in they asked for a booth for privacy and the hostess told them it messes up there server rotation, but that's not something the customer should have to be aware of or worry about. Stopped here for lunch today with my mom on my day off of work. It's been forever since I've been here because I'm not in the area often and I'd forgotten how dang good it is! Their lunch specials are the best of any Asian restaurant in the area in my opinion. I usually get their two sushi roll special...they have tons of options to choose from for the special (specialty rolls too not just the basic ones that are usually included in lunch specials). Today I got the spicy crab and salmon tempura. My mom got the shrimp hibachi lunch box. The lunch box comes with your entree, choice of rice, fried shumai, a California roll and your choice of salad or soup. The salad with the ginger dressing is fantastic and the soup is really good too. Prices are fair for the amount of food you get. I may have to intentionally make my way to the Kettering area more often just so I can come here! read more

The sushi was fantastic. Very fresh. Best in Dayton so far. WAY better than any strip mall Japanese steak house. All the food was fantastic. Can't get over the simple creativity of the rolls and freshness. Loved how they don't have a menu with sixty types of rolls too. I recommend the Christmas role. Interior of the restaurant is nice too. I'll take one star away due to the staff being new, undertrained, and made to work without knowing the job completely. We also had a very long wait for anything, including the sushi. But it was worth it. Also, fried banana dessert was just okay. Price point is higher but you get what you pay for. My hubby and I had dinner at Sky Asian Cuisine Friday night. It was fresh and delicious as usual. Service was excellent. We eat there or get takeout at least once a month. We take out of town guests there and recommend it to lots of people. It's also great for special occasions as it has a cool metropolitan vibe. At 8:30 on Friday, the place was nearly empty it was disturbing. If you are a fan or haven't tried Sky please consider patronizing soon. It's truly the best sushi place I've had. I live in Florida and I won't spend anything on the places down here. Whenever I'm up for a visit in Dayton, Ohio this place is a big treat to my tastebuds. They have the best hand held sushi wraps. We love the yellow tail sushi hand-held wraps the best. I've never been inside so I don't have much to say about the ambiance. The service seems fast. The only issue I have about this place is they forget something in our order each time we call for take out. It's a big disappointment when it happens almost every time we order from here. I feel like I left a review for this place before, so I was just gonna do an update. Anyway if I had reviewed this place before I would've given at 4 to 4 1/2 stars. The food is pretty good even if it isn't exactly what you would expect they do a nice twist on a variety of Asian cuisine. But I don't know what's going on around here these days. Covid threw everyone for a loop, and when we would order to-go, there were a lot of inconsistencies. Sometimes it was no salad provided when it was included with tue meal. I'd mention the next time I would place and order and they would send us with 1 million salads. But, then the next time no salad again. The problem is you want a salad when it's pet is your meal. You don't want to million of them all at once. It doesn't help anybody. A recent to-go experience saw one entrée missing from our order. Was paid for, it just wasn't in the order that was given to us. After unpacking this large order with guests at the house we discovered that one person has nothing to eat. I'll give them a call and the woman who answers laughs and says oh that's so funny we just found this on train we're like I wonder who this belongs to...But seriously I want what I paid for and it's not that funny. Maybe we can laugh about it if you offer a genuine apology and offer a way to fix the problem, but no. I insisted that somebody Deliver the item, unfortunately they agreed to do so. But it took a half hour so everyone was done eating by the time we got this entree that was approaching an hour old. They continue to struggle, and while I want to have grace, they have some serious operational and training issues that need addressed. It's not a fluke when mistakes are more common than not, and win service fails to be properly executed on a consistent basis. The straw that broke this yelpers back came tonight. Our first dining experience since Covid began, we waited over an hour for food. In a restaurant that wasn't busy when we arrived. We watched other tables get their food while continuing to... both from the sushi bar and the kitchen. There was no logical reason. And it was pretty frustrating. Even more frustrating because nobody apologized or acknowledged that things were slow. Nothing, nada. We mentioned that the kids were really hungry... but being pushy, just a casual mention when the sever swung by... but zilch. Only that it would be up soon. More food went past us to those who came later before ours came. Ridiculous. And my favorite part was when the sushi came, and the waiter said he'd be right back with bowls for soy sauce. No problem, you only had an hour to bring those bowls, but of course they were being hand formed and fired just special for us, so there's no way they could've been sitting and waiting on the table when our food finally arrived. Right now this has the best sushi in Dayton. You just have to order the chief special. It is expensive but worth it. Many places the quality of the sushi is going down. The outside of the building isn't very impressive at all- so much so that I almost didn't go in. But inside is very nice ambiance, nice bar seating, feels more like a restaurant and not like a sushi bar (in a good way). Nice place! I heard this place opened up a few years ago and I always pass it on my way home but haven't had a chance to try it until now! There was a lot of seating area & everything seemed clean & decorated. As for the food, the miso soup was nice. Similar to other miso soups I've had but it came with my entree. I had the vegetable yakisoba which was plated well. I would have a preferred a larger portion size or more vegetables. I also got the sweet potato roll which was pretty good! How is it that I've never reviewed Sky? Wow! This place is our favorite sushi place in the area, hands down! Usually I like to write really wordy reviews but this place I suspect will be much shorter, sweet and to the point: their atmosphere is beautiful, their menu is well done and full of carefully developed recipes the owners (the sweetest family ever!!) make in house and take great pride in, the sake is delicious and our sushi is always so beautiful and fresh! When we're at Sky, we feel like family. It is a joy to pay our bill at the end of an evening here, and know who we are supporting and that such care was put into our meal. The only negative I might add (and purely for the sake of being fair) is we have to leave eventually! There. Integrity first, right? Be sure to ask the owners about their new venture into themed fine dining experience events! I absolutely love hearing him talk about the incredible concepts and pairings he is planning! So sweet. Been reading great reviews so decided to try. This has been several restaurants before and decor was boring at best and the last time I came it was just grimy, if you get my drift. So expectations in check, I arrived for lunch. It.is.beautiful. I can't believe the transformation. But it's about the food and service...right? And Sky delivers both. Outstanding service and food. I had a Paradise roll with shrimp tempura and banana. Yes...banana. And it was to die for. My roll came with a soy wrap, but I inquired and you can have any roll made with the soy wrap for a small up charge. Probably the only downside was the expense. Two rolls, one soft drink was $30 before tip. But I'll pay for quality any day. There was a sushi bar where you can watch them making rolls if that's your thing. A friend recommended this as a great Asian spot near Dayton. They were right. The menu is extensive with Thai and Japanese options and a great selection of sushi. We began with the Chicken Negimaki which was delicious. Crispy light outside and fresh filling. Perfectly done. My daughter ordered Pad Thai and I opted for the Nabeyaki Udon. Both were delicious, the Pad Thai being garnished with a large crispy "tortilla" type. boat that was beautiful. The Udon was fabulous and both dishes were more than either of us could manage in one meal. Another patron ordered some type of sushi platter that was so impressive visually and he ate it in entirety. I'm guessing it was great! They have full bar service available. The on line ordering is easy and efficient. The only issue was descriptions of the dishes...just opened up the home page menu on one device and ordered on another. Gave me and my wife to collaborate :) They called based on 86ing one of the dishes and made great recommendations. Delivery arrived on time by a driver taking all the aporopriate protective gear.
