We had one little hiccup where the toast we ordered was substituted without any warning but that is soo minor in comparison to the A+ food and service we received. From the whimsy and coziness to it, to the mix and match 70s table cloths layered that bring me nostalgic times with my grandma, to the peaceful yet hip neighborhood it lays on its own corner, this spot was the highlight of my trip to Nashville. The seating available for my friend and I were amongst other patrons eating that implement togetherness which I saw come into play when a young man with her girlfriend making friendly convo with 2 women sitting next to eachother. It is a small cafe but I appreciated it. I was introduced to this place by Fodor's travel book "Nashville" and they recommended this as a vegetarian gem with hipster demographic which they hit the nail on the head. For drink I had hot coffee which looks like they harvest their own beans where you can take it by the pound home, which I thought was a great cup of joe (choose between medium or bold roast). To eat I had the Armadillo sandwich which was incredible... the bread is a toasted crust of colby jack outside, with sauteed peppers, portabellas, pesto, sour cream, and a touch of parmesan inside. All sandwiches come with a side in which the choice of sides were extensive. I opted for the sweet potato casserole which was stellar; not too sweet. The vibes were very homey and very casual. no one at our table had any complaints about the food, and the food was served to us about 10 to 15 minutes after we had ordered. All of the drinks arrived before the food, I ordered the chai tea, and they were kind enough to add some chocolate. I ate the Tuscan 2.0 . It was very good, with the pesto being my favorite part. To start: This place is SMALL, so go prepared for a wait. Seriously, it can seat only about 20 people at a time, it seems. There isn't any covered area in which to wait, nor is there an interior waiting area. Just a few picnic tables set up on the sidewalk, so your wait will be outdoors and subject to the elements of your given day & time of choosing. With that said, you will be treated to a plethora of East Nashville hipster-viewing during your wait, dining experience, and overall meal. Always interesting to watch. The restaurant itself is pretty neat, though I think they'd be better served by purchasing the closed store next door, knocking out the wall between the two, and serving more guests. Parking is interesting, as the neighborhood is primarily residential, and there are a few no-parking signs directly around the restaurant. We just parked a little ways down the street, and all was fine. Overall, we waited about 30 minutes, which isn't terrible, and then were seated. The tables inside are set up family-style, so you can/will likely be sat directly next to another group. There are ANCIENT Trivial Pursuit cards on the table. The wife and I tried to decipher a few by attempting to answer the questions, but as they were made in the mid-70s with most questions stemming from the 50s-60s, we were both lost (80s kids here, as I'm sure most of their patronage are.) Still good for a laugh, regardless. The waitstaff was quite friendly and accommodating, offering suggestions and pointing out favorites, etc. We opted for the brie french toast and an omelette. The pricing on their options isn't bad at all, either. The wife said she enjoyed her french toast, but wished there was more. I agreed that it looked more like an appetizer than a breakfast meal, but it was still good. My omelette, which I had to share with the wife, as she was still hungry, was good - not great - and packed full of the additional extras I opted for. In that, you definitely get what you pay for, and they aren't skimpy with it. In the end, we had a decent breakfast, enjoyed the ambiance, and left satisfied but not particularly impressed. We might go again with a small group, but aren't chomping-at-the-bit to return. Good experience, neat spot, and "trendy" locale. Worth a stop in at least once. read more

I've heard nothing but raves about this place and really wanted to come. Maybe my expectations were too high? We waited 45 minutes for a table (I know this place has a loyal following and is tiny so it seemed fair). When we were seated the table was sticky and dirty. I waited 20 minutes for my bloody mary and needed to ask the waitress to bring it to me. My partner and I aren't young or trendy and I felt like we were being ignored because we weren't the clientele the business caters to. The music was so loud I couldn't hear anything that was being said but I was still excited for the food. The food for our 2 top came out separately and was kind of plopped down in front of us. I had the eggs Benedict Florentine - the spinach was raw and unseasoned and wilted from being under a heat lamp. This is such a cool place to come for breakfast! It's a very small restaurant with only a handful of tables on the inside and if it's the weekend make sure to come early or expect a long wait! Also they only have street parking and it can be pretty limited. The food here is really good and they have some unique meals like the one pictured. I really appreciate their big serving sizes and homestyle breakfast options! I got the French toast stuffed pancakes that have like half a can of peanut butter and jelly on them. What a really pleasant surprise! This tiny (less than 30 seats) corner neighborhood cafe served well made food with a welcoming smile. We like our eggs very soft, and they were served just right.
