Skyline is a great practice and Dr. Chen really stands behind his work. I got a couple of fillings done here, and they are holding up well. I've always been afraid of going to the dentist, and it didn't help having bad experiences from previous dental visit. From the last 3 dentists I visited, they all looked at the wisdom teeth root and immediately referred me to oral surgeon, said root was bent and difficult to remove. So needless to say I was a bit surprised when Dr. Chen said he can removed the wisdom teeth root for me.  The procedure overall took only a few mins and aside from some pressure no pain at all. Having moved frequently throughout my life, I have visited and experienced many dental offices in my life. Skyline Dental provided one of the best experiences. In the past, other dentists did not leave a lasting impression with me and I often wondered if the procedure was performed correctly when something felt "off" during subsequent times. With Harvey, I remained happy months later when I realized that the problem with my tooth was gone and I pleasantly forgotten my visit to him to redo a filling that my previous dentist had apparently rushed. As Harvey explained, he replaced and treat a deep filling so that my tooth was less sensitive. Several months later, I can verify that he knows what he was talking about and I support his work. Harvey looks out for his patients. Some dentists may leave you feeling rushed and unappreciated as a customer. Although he has practiced for several years now, Harvey is patient and attentive to you and will treat you with a fresh attitude that is sorely missed in most dental practices today. Skyline Dental - Dentist: Dr. Harvey Chen Pros: Skilled, exceptionally bright, and humble dentist. Cannot say enough good things. My Personal Story: It was a Saturday morning when I called Skyline dental to complain of a severe headache that had been bothering me for some time. I woke up and realized that both sides of my neck were swollen, and that it was no longer possible for me to put off a visit to the dentist. I had heard my friends tell me excellent things about Skyline Dental, so I decided to give the clinic a call. I spoke with a receptionist who was not only friendly and helpful, but also very patient with all of my questions. Although the clinic was already very busy on Saturday, Dr. Chen was able to squeeze me in on the same day. When I arrived, I noticed how immaculate and beautiful the clinic looked. Such a great change from all the other clinics I have seen in the area. I arrived at my scheduled time, and within 5 minutes after filling out paperwork, I was escorted into the office to get my dental Xrays. The assistant was very careful to make sure I was comfortable the whole time. The Dentist: Wow, so now I know why all my friends come to this dentist! He is so easy to talk to - so down-to-earth! Although he is very busy, he treats you like you are his only patient. He was able to identify the tooth that was causing me a severe headache. Apparently an old crown of mine from a previous dentist had come loose and had started decaying underneath. I had a pretty severe infection. Dr. Chen gave me a couple of options: 1) See a specialist to do a more complex root canal, because the roots were already calcified OR 2) Extract the infected tooth, and get an implant. After weighing my options, I decided to go with the implant, because I trusted that this gave a better long-term prognosis. Dr. Chen never pressured me one way or the other, he just gave his expert advice. He was able to extract the tooth very quickly, and I felt no pain. I had mild swelling and was able to take an antibiotic and pain reliever, which made everything bearable. In a couple of months, once the bone heals up, Dr. Chen will be able to give me the actual implant. In the meantime, he is having me follow up with him periodically. That evening when I returned home, I received a personal phone call from the dentist himself, asking how I was feeling. I will not go anywhere else, after this. He is incredible! For those of you complaining about cost, just remember that you get QUALITY CARE...you get what you pay for! The prices are absolutely fair and reasonable. read more

I was able to set an appointment with Dr. Chen on the same day for my daughter. The facilities were clean and nice. The receptionist was very friendly and approachable. My daughter had to have 2 of her bottom teeth extracted. Prices were reasonable. He was very nice to kids too which is a plus. He made my daughter comfortable, as comfortable as a 5 year old who is about to have her teeth extracted can be. :) The extractions took about 5 minutes.... He's hands were quick and light (I asked my daughter how bad it was... she said not too bad it was just like having her ears pierce she said.) Dr. Chen was very helpful with my root canal when I had it done. Had the impression done, all the good stuff and then the precedure was as professional as possible without any pain in my tooth. Some of the previous dentists that I've went only does the basic cleaning and refers me out for anything beyond the basic which annoys me. Meanwhile I feel that Dr. Chen knows and performs a lot of the needed surgery without the specialist because he is confident and does a good job. Great staff and Great doctor. The facility is clean and with all the new tech (Filmless X Ray) or maybe my doctor was just old school and still using film. do a great job for me and my 3 year old son. My son was able to sit through the whole cleaning of his teeth because the staff was just that good and was able to show them what they were doing and even let him use the suction tool on me when I was getting my teeth cleaned. Dr. Chen has been really helpful and caring. I've gone to his practice regularly for the last 2-3 years. He's super honest about the work that needs to get done and will explain to you exactly what needs to be done and why. I'm someone who has been through a lot of dentists... So, I would know if they're being honest or not. Dr. Chen is gentle and super good about the work he does. He cares a lot about his patients and follows up with his work. My sister had two dental implants done at Skyline dental and recommended me there. Another friend of my also had some dental work done and spoke highly of the doctor. The recommendations made me feel comfortable and wanted to check it out for myself. The office was modern and the staff were friendly, especially Martina and the dental assistants. Dr. Chen was professional and was thorough in his explanation of my treatments. He used x-ray to show me where the cavity was as well as a camera that took picture inside the mouth. When I had my root canal, he even showed me the nerve he had just pulled out. Pretty awesome! The explanation was clear, concise, and Dr. Chen made me feel comfortable since I felt like he knew what he was doing. He also gave me a clear understanding of what procedures I needed and why. He also addressed all my concerns. He also didn't make me feel dumb when he answered my questions. I had a root canal done as well as a filling. I was expecting to feel some pain during the root canal procedure because of touching the nerve, but I didn't feel a thing. :) I also complained about some pain and he looked at it and recommended we just wait and check on it. It was nice since I didn't feel pressured to have any procedures that were unnecessary. Best dentist experience i've ever had! The dentist, Dr. Chen, is extremely talented and knows teeth very well. I can tell he is highly experienced in working with teeth and that is why I felt comfortable enough to allow him to remove all 4 of my wisdom teeth at one sitting! He did a great job, it was fast and painless, especially since my teeth structure was curved and much more complicated than the average tooth. I was amazed at how fast the whole process was and highly recommend him to anyone who cares about their teeth. The facility uses state-of-the art technology, with flat screen tv's that show your xrays instantly which i never seen in a dental office before! During the wait, they even allowed me to watch DirectTV. It appears all the equipment is all brand-new, the office is clean and professional, and the staff is friendly and courteous. ..and the best part... the pricing is extremely reasonable and much cheaper than my previous dentist! since i dont have insurance, everything comes out of pocket, which is a big concern of mine. But before doing the work, he told me the pricing and i was pleasantly surprised since i was expecting it to be a lot more! read more

While my sister who had referred me to Dr. Chen had a good experience, my experience has been the complete opposite. March 2012 Prior to getting the implant placed by Dr. Chen, I called and inquired about the procedure. I was nervous about not being put out but Dr. Chen assured me that I would be completely numbed and would not feel any pain for 3 hours. The day the implant was put in, a procedure that took about 40 minutes total, I started to feel a throbbing pain while he was still working on the implant. I stated so much and the assistant asked if I wanted more anesthesia and Dr. Chen snapped at her saying that he was almost done. I would have said yes though. I received my pain medication from Walgreens an hour after the procedure and I was already in a lot of pain. My mouth was not numb for 3 hours. June 2012 I called prior to the appointment to confirm what was being done. The receptionist said just impressions. I went in and Dr. Chen decided that it was time to open up the area where the implant was. This surprised me because I was just expecting impressions, not a "mini-surgery" as he called it. I asked if I would be able to work out afterwards since I had made an appointment for yoga in the afternoon and Dr. Chen assured me that I would be able to still work out afterwards. After the procedure, they let me leave the office without any aftercare information and medication. I was in so much pain an hour later, I had to call the office back and request a prescription for pain medication. By then, I was nearly in tears from the pain and had to cancel my appointment for yoga. August 2012 Called again prior to the appointment and was told that I was coming in to do impressions since I hadn't done them at the previous appointment. Went in and Dr. Chen immediately started feeling around the implant. I thought he was just checking up with the progress of the implant. Dr. Chen then started to do something to the implant. All of a sudden, I felt immense pain and said "OW" to indicate that I was in pain. Dr. Chen stopped for a second before continuing. I said, "Ow" several times but Dr. Chen continued to do whatever he was doing to the implant. The whole time, the implant felt like it was moving upwards and digging into my gums even though it had been placed 5 months prior and was NOT suppose to be moving at all. I was in so much pain that tears started pouring out of my eyes. When I started to cry, Dr. Chen finally used the anesthesia on me. At one point while Dr. Chen was working, he looked at me crying and mumbled, "So sensitive." WTH?! That statement shows absolutely no bedside manners on his part. Where's your empathy?? The whole time Dr. Chen worked on my implant, I had no idea what was going on and what he was doing. At one point when he stopped, I ran my tongue along where the implant was and felt a gapping empty hole where the implant used to be. He then started sewing up the hole. Finally he told me what happened. He explained that he was trying to take out a part of the implant and it was suppose to be a simple procedure but the whole implant came out instead. He explained that this was why I was in so much pain as the implant was not suppose to move at all. He then explained that he has put more bone into my gums "free of charge" so that another implant can be placed. He said that the whole healing and replacement of the implant would take another year. At this point, I told him the best I could through my scared, shaken and teary state that I was very angry with him because twice now, I had come into the office believing that impressions were going to be taken and that was it. The first time, I left without impressions done and with a mini surgery. This time, I came in again for impressions and ended up losing my implant. Dr. Chen kept trying to say that the process of removing part of the implant today was just a small procedure that came along with the impressions. I argued that impressions are just that, taking impressions of the teeth. Not performing a mini-surgery as a add-on or removing a part of the implant. He finally apologized but said that it was all a miscommunication. I don't think it was a miscommunication at all but rather a lack of communication. He also said he'd do his best to make sure there was better communication in the future. While I appreciated his attempt at an apology, I had lost all trust and faith in Dr. Chen. I requested the half payment I made for the procedure back from his office at a later time expecting to fight with him and his staff for my money back but they wrote me a check no questions asked. I think mostly because they knew how badly they messed up and wanted to avoid a potential lawsuit. Do not go to Dr. Chen for implants. Go to a specialist. This is the lesson I unfortunately had to learn the hard way. read more

It was my first dentist visit since I received insurance for work. I told them I wasn't too familiar with dental procedures. Without explaining much, the main dentist did work that left my molars sensitive even after a year. He filed down my old fillings so thinly that it left my molars extremely sensitive. I know that teeth usually feel sensitive for the first few weeks so I waited for a month. Then I noticed a black spot where it was bothering me and I called to let him know. At my next appointment, he scoffed when I said he filed my old fillings down too much. I told him that my bottom left molar has a black dot in it and he looks at the bottom right molar and says, "yea, I don't see anything..see? There's nothing to worry about." When I corrected him, he saw the black dot and says, "Oh, I see. Yea there's a filling chip there." He also "fixed" my front tooth that had the slightest chip in it. The chip has never bothered me. I would never have asked a dentist to touch that tooth. It was purely cosmetic and he did not explained the procedure. He filed my tooth down and added material that ended up chipping. Now I have an even bigger chip than before with thin, fake material as my front tooth. What bothered me the most was how he didn't explain what process he was going to take with my teeth, especially after I specifically told them it was my first time on my own. The process felt invasive and I'm so unhappy that my natural tooth is filed down now. He also pushed me to do a 3000 surgery as "preemptive" which I didn't do and told him I would think about it. They didn't even return my calls after a few weeks. I think they got tired of me complaining about their work. I do not recommend this dentistry. The head dentist is still young in his practice and needs more time to develop his methods. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Chen! Compared to my prior dentist at SmileCare, Dr. Chen is extremely honest, and offers a very good evaluation and quotation. One month ago, I went and got my check up at SmileCare (our company recently changed insurance carriers so I had to go to a new dentist). After the initial exam, the dental assistant came in and did a periodontal check on my gums. She stuck the little measurement tool and read out the numbers. Most of the numbers were good, ~3, except for 1 part of the gum where it was #5 (the higher the number, the deeper the pocket, the worst the gum condition.) I asked her that that meant, and she said, "let me show this to the doctor, but it's just 1 tooth area, so you should be fine, let's get you ready for the regular cleaning." She walked out, and came in 5 minutes later with the doctor. He told me that he wouldn't allow her to do a regular cleaning, and that I'll need a "deep cleaning," which is going to cost $250 out of pocket. I was surprised at how it went from $0 to $250 in matter of minutes. So he took the tool, and started doing the periodontal test on my gums again. However, compared to his assistant, he really jammed down the tool onto my gums and caused my gums to bleed. Of course, the numbers were worse. I expressed my unhappiness, and he was very derogatory towards me and his assistant and pretty much told me that I shouldn't complain because I'm not a dentist, so I don't know as much as he does. I walked out of that SmileCare office and vowed to never come back. Fast forward 1 month. I was recommended to Dr. Chen's Skyline Dental by a friend. I went to the practice, and was immediately impressed by the top-of-the-line equipment (compared to the 20 year old equipment that they used at Smile Care). I sat down, and Dr. Chen gave me a very comprehensive oral exam, including periodontal. His hands were quick, accurate, and very painless, unlike the other dentists I had in the past. After the exam, he showed me the results and explained everything to me in detail on his LCD monitor. He then told me that based on my periodontal exam, I do have 1 tooth area that was worse than the rest of the gum. However, instead asking me to pay money out of pocket to do a deep cleaning, he did the regular cleaning for me, and he taught me some ways to take care of that area and if it doesn't improve, then we can consider doing a deep cleaning at the next check up. I appreciate Dr. Chen's honesty. I feel that he is there for the patients, and he views it as a long-term relationship building, and not like SmileCare's dentist who tries to make as much money right now as possible. I also appreciate Dr. Chen taking the time to explain to me what's going on, showing the utmost respect and transparency. I give Dr. Chen 5 out of 5 stars, and recommended him to all of my friends and family. read more

who LIKES the dentist??? definitely not me..until i came here.. i mean..like is a strong word..but now i'm not afraid of going anymore..because Dr. Chen definitely knows what he's doing..trust is a lot when someone is sticking a whole bunch of crap in your mouth..lol.. i came to skyline dental after reading yelp reviews (thank you fellow yelpers)..and since i moved 30+ miles from my original dentist (who was horrible anyways)..i decided to go find a new, better one.. i have been here a couple of times since my original consultation appt..i have had deep cleaning done, a cavity filled, and one wisdom tooth taken out..i still have to go back in a couple of weeks to get another wisdom out..-__-.. but im not afraid..lol..i figured everything would hurt horribly..but the deep cleaning was a breeze..a little discomfort..but only the first day after it's done.. and the wisdom tooth extraction..i figured i would die of pain ..but i was sooo numbed up..felt nothing..and i only took 2-3 days of painkillers cuz i was chicken..but it didn't even hurt that much and i healed pretty quickly..in about 4 days i could eat real food again..(well on the side of my mouth that didn't have the surgery) just a couple of pointers on the wisdom tooth surgery..don't get it done very late because pharmacies won't be open to fill ur meds..(i had to drive 7 miles to get to a 24 hr one..) and ice that sucker as much as u can!! =D so yes go see Dr. Chen for all ur dental needs..i'll be returning in about 3 weeks..and him and his team are very helpful and personable..and try to make you as comfortable as possible..great job skyline dental! =) read more

After a handful of procedures and a great many number of questions I am convinced that Skyline Dental is the best and Dr. Chen is the most gifted dentist that was given the unfortunate task of fixing everything that was wrong with my teeth. The staff at Skyline Dental is top notch, A+, caring, attentive courteous and very professional. I see myself as a tough critic, yet Skyline Dental has surpassed all my expectation for what a perfect Dentists Office should be. Every visit was excellent and never was I let down by their service. Skyline Dental has something that other offices do not. It's not their high-end equipment or the mounted LED/LCD TV, it's actually something that was difficult to pin point, and something I realized after a handful of visits. And that something is their exceptional, customer-centric attitude towards their patients. The staff, Dr. Chen and everyone in this office seems to have a genuine interest in your dental health. At Skyline Dental you are not just another appointment or another cavity that needs to be filled, but an actual individual. I found this Dental office from Yelp. Dr. Chen replaced my old crown saying that it was too old. Then, my disaster stars. The new crown height was not right and he did grinding & adjustments for 4 times. What scared me most was he also ground my other teeth. I tried to stop him, but he did anyway and I could feel the pain immediately. My face and jaw pained. My gums were red & swollen. I lost 8 lbs in just one month. The adjustments have finally made my teeth unbalanced and I can not bite properly since my old crown was replaced. I also checked with other dentists about the new crown and was told that the crown needs to be replaced due to metal was exposed and the grinding was over-done. It's a terrible experience with this dental office. read more

Started feeling soreness in my left cheek mid-last week, thought it would go away by itself but instead it got worse day by day. Unfortunately for me, the pain got to the point where I can't really bite down anymore, right at Mother's Day weekend. I gave a call to Dr. Chen and left a message to him. To my surprise, he got back to me quickly during the weekend and discussed my situation, and saw me on Mother's Day for an emergency root canal procedure so I wouldn't be in severe pain for a day more. Not only do they have an excellent service, but through the procedure I can also tell from my personal experience that Dr. Chen is very experienced in his expertise, as I saw he is very detailed in his work yet makes me feel almost no discomfort throughout the whole process. In this day and age it's hard to find a good doctor such as Dr. Chen who truly puts his patient's priority as first. I'm very blessed to have found one, and therefore would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a highly experienced and service oriented dentist in SoCal area. read more

We're looking for a new dentist and this seemed like a good place to go for a dental appointment bc there were good reviews so I booked an appointment here for two people. The next available appointment was in over two weeks, which is fine, but I gave the insurance information and the lady on the phone told us she'd verify (most offices I've spoken with check fairly quickly). I called the following week to check whether she had checked the insurance and could give us more information, but she was unbelievably rude. She told me they normally don't check until the week of. And I asked is there a way to check now and she just repeated her initial answer. I asked if there was a rule against checking beforehand and she pretended not to understand me. I asked again and she said that that's simply not the way the office here does things. She said she could perhaps check on Friday (in 5 days)...? And even if there were a good reason (im a reasonable person, if there were a good reason, I'd completely understand) as to why the office does that, it most certainly wasn't explained well. But overall she had the worst tone and was quite rude. The conversation left a sour taste in my mouth. I cancelled both appointments and we will be heading somewhere else. read more

I had my tooth removed by another dentist who then recommended a dental implant and referred me elsewhere. Since dental implants are not covered by insurance, I did several consultations before deciding on Dr. Chen. I was slightly nervous since I didn't know much about the procedure. At my consultation, I noticed that the office was clean and modern. The staff was prompt and courteous and got me in quickly. After examining my teeth, Dr. Chen explained the procedure to me in detail and calmed my fears. I appreciated his professionalism and his reassurance. His prices were also fair and affordable compared to the other consultations I had. I must say that the experience was much better than expected! The procedure went very smoothly and was painless. It was actually much quicker than I expected and the placement of the dental implant along with teeth cleaning lasted about 45 minutes. Dr. Chen and his staff were great through the whole process. I hope to never have a dental implant again, but if I needed any other procedures done, I would happily go to Dr. Chen again. read more

To begin, my road to healthy dentition was a long one. This began three years ago when I realized I had eight cavities having not been to the dentist in 5+ years due to graduate school. I began seeing a dentist in the San Fernando Valley who gave me a number of fillings, a porcelain inlay for a very deep childhood filling that had weakened, a teeth whitening session, and a number of teeth cleaning visits. After about 2 years of visiting this dentist and being in pain from newly acquired tooth sensitivity, my bite being off/high, being referred to an endodontist for the pain, and taking ibuprofen at prescription strength around the clock for months on end, I decided I finally needed to make a change. I came to see Dr. Chen because of the wonderful things I had heard from my wife who had been seeing him for the past two years and all of the great reviews I had heard from her friends who had also been referred to him. I am a skeptical person, especially when it comes to dentists because I feel like just because the office staff can handle cleaning teeth doesn't mean they are great at managing all of the dental problems that come with a patient with a heavy dental history like myself. I then began seeing Dr. Chen at Skyline Dental in Walnut about a year ago now and must say, I have been very impressed with both his abilities as a dentist and by the professionalism of his office staff. Of note, Dr. Chen's oral hygienist, Devin, is one of the most caring, considerate, and gentle people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. She makes dental visits easy to bear considering I used to have a great deal of anxiety before coming to my previous dentists. The most critical decision I had to make with Dr. Chen was when he noted that I had a new pocket developing on one of my upper rear molars that was going to need intervention. Dr. Chen initially referred me to a Periodontist to have it evaluated who stated that the deep pocket was due to an infection and we would need to do a root canal as soon as possible to prevent losing the tooth altogether. I was then left with the decision of having the root canal done with Dr. Chen or going to an Endodontist specialist to have completed. As the skeptical person I was I initially wanted to lean toward the specialist to have this completed. I decided to talk to one of my dentist friends to ask about having a root canal done in a standard dental office by which he said that this type of procedure is bread and butter for dentists these days and by no means requires a specialist to preform. Then after reading Dr. Chen's great reviews on Yelp, I decided to give him a try. The root canal procedure from start to finish took about 2-3 hours but was absolutely painless. Dr. Chen was great at making sure I was not in any pain the entire way through the process and has great technique when it comes to initially injecting anesthetic into the muscle. With his technique and the topical pre-anesthetic used, you really don't feel the injection one bit! He also uses a bite guard during the procedure which other people have complained to make their jaw sore, but for me it worked just fine and I didn't have to worry about accidentally biting Dr. Chen or Devin during the process. Dr. Chen also offered me numerous breaks throughout the procedure in case my jaw was getting sore, which was really nice. You could tell that they were efficient with their time in getting the procedure done in a timely manner, but not in such a hurry or time crunch that they would need to cut corners or risk making mistakes. After about 8 weeks had passed since the root canal, I returned to Dr. Chen to see how this infection and pocket had healed given the root canal procedure to clear out the majority of the infection. To my surprise, the pocket measurement had come down drastically from 10 mm to now only 3-4 mm and is on track to healing completely. It has been a long road for me in regaining my dental health but I must say that Dr. Chen and Devin at Skyline Dental have been an integral part of this process. Their state of the art equipment and skillful techniques make dental procedures and teeth cleaning a breeze. My root canal was probably the biggest dental procedure I had ever encountered, but I am glad I choose Dr. Chen to perform this procedure in his office. Having been seen by other dentists who left me chronically in pain, I am now a happy and permanent patient of Dr. Chen. It is remarkable to think that after all of the dental problems and complaints that I came to Dr. Chen with, I now have the ability to chew on both sides of my mouth, have a drastically reduced sensitivity level, am no longer at risk of losing any teeth due to infection, and am now finally free of tooth pain. Although his office may be a 30 minute drive for me and maybe longer for others, I will continue to recommend Dr. Chen to my friends and family. read more

It's true what they say - Dr. Chen is an amazing dentist. He does almost everything himself which I definitely appreciate. Having your teeth cleaned by this man is a true pleasure. Yes, he takes x-rays himself, cleans himself, he even sometimes holds the little vacuum hose himself! A+ for personal attention. I came here after a bad experience with another dentist, which truly humbles me to the greatness of Dr. Chen. He doesn't even accept my insurance and you know what? I'm probably going to change my insurance just so I can stick with Dr. Chen. I'm a life timer assuming I don't move, say, over 100 miles away... Lots of fresh technology too. Digital X-rays, water pick cleaners, flat screen television with the tuner in your hand, etc... after my last experience (old man dentist with prehistoric equipment) it's certainly refreshing. He and all his staff are, or at least look (all Asians) extremely young. This was initially a put-off but after a few visits it doesn't bother me in the least. I came for a wisdom teeth extraction. To be honest when I first read all these yelp reviews I was really skeptical. Honestly, who gets only 5 star reviews? So I thought it's probably all his friends and these reviews are all bogus. They offered a free check up so I really had nothing to loose, I figure if I hated it after the consultation I could always move on. I made a same day apt, showed up and within the hour had my wisdom out and fillings patched. I only felt a pin prick of pain from the shot to numb the area but other than that quick and painless. I had to ask if that was it after he pulled the tooth out. I hate dentist visits no matter how pleasant they are, but I have to say Dr. Chen makes it so I would actually want to return for annual cleanings. On top of being a great dentist the icing on the cake is no one tries to sell you anything you don't need. The Doc and the staff are all approachable and nice. Dr Chen is a great Dentist. It normally is a LONG drive to see him but well worth the drive. He has flexible hours (evenings and weekends), new clean facilities with top of the line stuff, flat screen direct tv with control of the remote (a big plus ). let me start off by saying that i don't live that close to here so for me to make a drive out it must be saying something. positives 1. friendly staff . engaging. able to ask questions and get your questions answered. 2. upfront with what they are doing and ask your permission to do it. I hate shady places where they do work and then highly recommend and try to 'convince' you to do it. no shady biz here. 3. comprehensive and communicative. I am not a dentist. I don't understand terms. etc. so having the dr. explain what's going on; shows me pictures; this is helpful. 4. clean. enough said. 5. gets the job done in a good amount of time. I've been to dentist where the xrays, cleaning,etc take 2-3 hours. I drove about 30 mi from Silverlake because I got the groupon here and needed a new dentist. Regretted my laziness for not finding a closer dentist until I saw Dr. Chen and his staff. I definitely plan to come back to Walnut in six months for my next regular cleaning. Everyone at Skyline was incredibly personable, professional, and knowledgeable. I've been going to the dentist regularly all my life and have had great dentists, but Dr. Chen has definitely raised the bar for me in terms of what I consider excellent dental care.
