    The "Boss" sandwich with tots

The Boss breakfast sandwich is the bomb. Going back for this bad boy again. Everything bagel + egg + cheese + sausage + bacon + secret sauce + tots = awesome.

Biscuits and Gravy with scrambled eggs. Yum!

The Skyway Grill is the go to breakfast spot in downtown St. Paul. I eat there several times a week and the food is always great. I recommend the Boss breakfast sandwich on a croissant with avocado added, the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs added, or the French Toast. They also serve lunch, which I assume is equally as good, but I've never had it so can't provide a review. But with the variety of burgers they offer there is something for everyone. And the staff is fantastic!!! So friendly and courteous!!!! Don't be surprised if you see the owner Scott behind the counter or working the grill. He is a longtime restaurant owner in downtown St. Paul and that is because of the care he has for his customers and staff, and his desire to provide great food at reasonable prices. If you work, live or are just visiting downtown and haven't been to this place yet you need to check it out!

    Capitol burger and fries

I just ate at the Skyway Grill for the first time at lunch today. I'm not sure exactly when it opened, but it must have been very recently. They are in the old mcdonalds location. I ordered the Capital Burger, which had pepper jack cheese, grilled jalepenos, jalepenos bacon, and jalepeno cream cheese on a jalepeno chedder bun. Sounds like a lot of jalepenos, but it really wasn't too much. The cream cheese was very good and gave the burger a nice gooey texture. The bacon was a bit overpowered by all of the jalepeno and cheese flavor, which was a little dissapointing. Also, the burger patty was a bit thin and a bit overcooked for me. Finally, I thought the bun was too dry. It wasn't like stale dry by any means, I just prefer a more moist bun (usually buttered). Overall, with all the flavors combined, the burger was pretty good. I would order it again, but will probably try something else next time just to see what else they have. I also ordered fries, which were good but nothing exciting. Really not much to say about them. The menu is simple, they have about 8 pre-set burgers or you can build your own, I think 3 side options, and drinks. The prices are pretty reasonable I think; you can find a slightly cheaper meal in the food court, but they're going for a slightly higher end product I think. Good experience, fun to have new options downtown. Hopefully they do well.

A solid food court restaurant in a bank building downtown , with excellent and complex burgers. Clearly a local favorite.

The tacos and quesadillas are solid and definitely worth trying, but I've been disappointed with the burritos and the pork al pastor. The carne asada burrito looked substantial at first, but it was overwhelmingly filled with plain white rice, which made it feel bland and not what I'd expect in terms of flavor or balance. The pork al pastor was even more disappointing. It didn't resemble traditional al pastor in taste or texture. It was overly sweet, lacked depth, and the pork itself was extremely dry, unfortunately dry enough to make it difficult to finish. There are still some good items on the menu, and the service keeps me open to giving them another try but based on my experience, I wouldn't describe the food overall as authentic or five-star quality.

All perfect. All old world. Our favorite very old deli in West Palm Beach was sold 1.5 years ago and gone gone gone are the DELIGHTFUL happy charming old staff and the perfect old world flavors, cooking. In Sarasota where we just lived the last 5 years, a new deli closed after just 2 years, and there is nothing left. We've been visiting family in Sarasota every year for 40 years. Gone too in the Twin Ciries is the ownership by brothers Scot and Stu of Hopkin's beloved Crossroads Deli just last year. The new owners, a corporation owning 6-8 other restaurants have CHANGED almost all the recipes for breads, cakes , wonderous cookies and 80 % of all pastries! No more butter, no more fine ingredients and no more of their once " Grossinger's taste/quality" STELLAR seeded rye bread! They even eliminated the lemon flavoring. In their incomparable lemon coconut cake! Their stuffed cabbage is one of their only true deli dishes left. Sandwiches are half their original size...... heart breaking after going there 3-4 times a week for 25 years........ Cecil's of course had to cut back on the $$ use of butter in their pastries. But they have WORKED VERY HARD to still retain their wonderous long long ago heart warming flavors. ALL their sandwiches are AUTHENTIC. Old world New York City flavors! Made with care and love. My husband loves their beautiful generous Nova salmon platte. Noshing away happily! I love their pastrami Rachel's with plentiful half sour pickles lots of Russian dressing and creamy Cole slaw. Mmmmmm. I hope and pray Cecil's owner refrains for a long long time from selling his rare business. We must support Cecil's too.... Or lose it with all the others, and lose part of our joy and heart. I got medium ("Coop") and liked it very much, I would get that exact one again unless I wanted to try other ones which seems like it might be a good idea. Also it came with a side of mac & cheese (substituted from fries) and that was very good. I will DEFINITELY get that again. This is a nice, quick, easy chicken option.

The fries were the best part, very good - even after being in a to go container. Had we reinvigorated them in the air fryer they would have been even better. Chicken was good, but not great. Spice level was accurate. Cole slaw was warm, which is not a temperature cole slaw should be. The sauce that comes with is not my thing, and the 16 year old said it was a copy or Raising Canes sauce. Our server was super nice and even gave us a discount for giving us the wrong food before we needed to mentioned it. I got the salted Carmel and brownie malt. They kinda lacked the brownie but was still good taste overall. Appetizer: Cheese curds were decent, not super strong flavor but not oily and decent portion. Side of onion rings were pretty good. Again not strong flavor but made well. Upcharge $2 (service didn't mention) Atmosphere: Kinda loud because it's a smaller restaurant and harder to hear the person across from you. Nice older classic decor and look. Been there since 1986. Unfortunately the entree food was not good... Disappointed on the California Burger. Had no flavor. The tomato was bland and soggy, the meat had no seasoning or flavor. The avocado was dull and tasteless, Only good part on it was the lettuce. My bf didn't want to say anything, and the server said he took something off the bill (which we thought meant took the sandwich off, but gave us $9 off the bill) Overall. We arrived and waited for a few minutes. The server eventually came out from the back and told us to sit anywhere. No greeting, no niceties. We skated over to a booth, as the floors had a layer of grime on them and were very slippery. The decorations were very cool. We definitely got the 50s diner vibe. Our server came over and took our order. She had zero personality. There were no introductions and she kept the conversation to one word sentences. She treated us like she'd rather have us leave then stay an eat. We were friendly throughout the dining experience. We did notice that the server was very pleasant with the other staff and all the male patrons, calling them "hon" and asking them if they need anything else. She did not extend any of these courtesies to our table of two women. It was bizarre and completely ruined our final experience in St. Paul. The food was overly expensive for very so-so diner food. The sausage patties were dried out. The eggs were overcooked. The rest was just fine, but not worth the price of over $40 for two basic meals (during the early bird time period) and two coffees. Lastly, it seemed like the smoke from the flat top was vented, but there was a smell of old cooking oil lingering in the restaurant. The whole experience was not good. It was one of the worst dining experiences we've had, and we do not expect or require a lot. We make no alterations to our food and we're friendly diners and tip well. This was a huge disappointment.
