Food is freaking delicious! Got their gyro and a side of tater tots. Everything was made-to-order even though it was the lunch hour. Gyro was literally perfect: pita was slightly toasted, sauce just right (not too much, not too little) and the cucumbers/tomatoes were diced into bite-size pieces. The tater tots were super crispy hence the carry-out box was hotaf lol, and they were really generous with the portion. Definitely a place to pick up your food and go so don't expect to dine in here. read more

They specialize in breakfast and burgers. The burgers and sides are made to order, so there is a little bit of waiting for your food. Right now the burgers typically range from $6-$9 a piece. Fries and sides are extra, but the drink is complimentary if you order an entree and a side. Runs to about $12-$15 a meal with tax and tip. Not unreasonable for a lunch in the skyway. read more

If you're looking for an indulgent reasonably priced burger in Downtown St. Paul, the only logical option is Skyway grill. In my book, it checks off all the boxes required for a 5 star lunch (and breakfast, too!): -Freshly prepared -Consistently delicious -Awesome Staff -Reasonable waiting time -Reasonably priced -They are always playing the coolest music -and as a bonus: a rewards program! I consider Skyway Grill the hidden gem of the the many options available in in St. Paul Skyway. The staff must too, since I always see the same folks manning the grill that I saw the first time I stumbled upon Skyway Grill. My go to burger is the Depot Burger (if you are a blue cheese afficianado, try this and thank me later). If I'm feeling ravenous, I recommend adding a side of the sweet potato tots dipped in their chipotle mayo sauce (cue angelic voices). Recently I've found myself getting breakfast here often. They offer a nice home cooked breakfast and I'm obsessed with the biscuits and gravy. As a bonus, breakfast comes with free coffee on Fridays too (score!). The breakfast menu is chock-full of yummy options from a bagel to French toast. Great for breakfast, great for lunch. A true rare gem in the skyway. read more

The Skyway Grill is the go to breakfast spot in downtown St. Paul. I eat there several times a week and the food is always great. I recommend the Boss breakfast sandwich on a croissant with avocado added, the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs added, or the French Toast. They also serve lunch, which I assume is equally as good, but I've never had it so can't provide a review. But with the variety of burgers they offer there is something for everyone. And the staff is fantastic!!! So friendly and courteous!!!! Don't be surprised if you see the owner Scott behind the counter or working the grill. He is a longtime restaurant owner in downtown St. Paul and that is because of the care he has for his customers and staff, and his desire to provide great food at reasonable prices. This place is such a nice fix for a greasy, gooey burger craving. I had the depot burger with fried onions, bacon, and a delicious blue cheese spread. I love the flat smashed burger with the slightly charred flavor, which some might disagree with (I hate hugely fat burgers that drip all over the place and lose their toppings). I also ordered sweet potato tots which were some of the best I've ever had, though there were too many for just one person! The skyway sauce for dipping had a little heat and was spot on. Highly recommend coming before 11:30 as thr place seems to be very popular. Most definitely coming back soon! read more

I've been meaning to make it here for a while. I was finally hungry, and in the Skyway, at the right time, on a weekday, so I made it happen. I was not disappointed. Service was quick and polite. I imagine it's wild around noon, but at 2pm there was no wait to order. Got my food in about 8 minutes. I tried the fries right away. It was a solid serving, and each fry was hefty, which I like. They were perfectly crispy, but the flavor was a touch off- I imagine they're probably better when the grease is fresh at 11 or 12. I didn't try the burger until I got home, but damn was it good. The meat was perfectly seasoned, the toppings were proportioned just right, and they didn't cheap out on the bun. They really blow Five Guys' burger out of the water. And their combo is about 2.50 cheaper! It's a good thing this place keeps limited hours in the Skyway, otherwise my waistline would be in serious danger. read more

I just ate at the Skyway Grill for the first time at lunch today. I'm not sure exactly when it opened, but it must have been very recently. They are in the old mcdonalds location. I ordered the Capital Burger, which had pepper jack cheese, grilled jalepenos, jalepenos bacon, and jalepeno cream cheese on a jalepeno chedder bun. Sounds like a lot of jalepenos, but it really wasn't too much. The cream cheese was very good and gave the burger a nice gooey texture. The bacon was a bit overpowered by all of the jalepeno and cheese flavor, which was a little dissapointing. Also, the burger patty was a bit thin and a bit overcooked for me. Finally, I thought the bun was too dry. It wasn't like stale dry by any means, I just prefer a more moist bun (usually buttered). Overall, with all the flavors combined, the burger was pretty good. I would order it again, but will probably try something else next time just to see what else they have. I also ordered fries, which were good but nothing exciting. Really not much to say about them. The menu is simple, they have about 8 pre-set burgers or you can build your own, I think 3 side options, and drinks. The prices are pretty reasonable I think; you can find a slightly cheaper meal in the food court, but they're going for a slightly higher end product I think. Good experience, fun to have new options downtown. Hopefully they do well. read more

This place has decent burgers but I thought the bun was too thick and dry for my liking. The fries was perfect though! It was fluffy inside and crispy on the outside. I got the garlic aioli to dip my fries in. The aioli was okay, the garlic flavor was quite muted. I will definitely would come back for the fries. read more

Stopped in to try something new, they were one of the first restaurants open in the morning. They offered me lunch items during breakfast! Ended up going with "The Lowertown Burger" (mushroom swiss and bacon burger) and will be coming back again for another very soon. The garlic aioli sauce on the burger and sweet potato tots set the bar high compared to other burger places. A ton of creative burgers and a team that obviously cares about the quality of their product. It's a great place to get a fast, hot, and very tasty lunch. I almost always get their Special. Best fried chicken sandwich I've had in St.Paul. The bun is sweet and light without falling apart, and what a fantastic sheen. The chicken is all white-meat, moist and well seasoned, with a crunchy and peppery coating. The bacon is nice and crisp, the cheese melt-y, and the spicy ranch is just the best. Pro Tip: check out their extended menu: a handful of well-loved printouts to the left of the regular menu. These change, and have limited availability but are usually a bit more...adventurous ;) Off their extended menu I've gotten Sam's Blues Burger: a delicious monster double patty mess covered in blue cheese sauce, caramelized onions, bacon, cheese, and all the fixings. Get a side of sweet-tots to mop up all their delicious, special homemade blue-cheese sauce. As I am sitting here after 16 minutes of waiting for my food I decided to write this review. I have ate here a few times now and since they have opened they have actually managed to get slower. The did not give me my drink when I ordered. I had to ask for it. Then they forgot to make fries so I had to wait longer. I waited 19 minutes total for my food. Food was hot and it was average based on being in a food court. I give them a one for total score, I work in the hospitality business so good service should be what you strive on. 0/5 for service and 3/5 for food quality. I look forward to seeing what takes their place in the food court in the coming months. read more

Such an awesome burger place in the skyway! I stumbled upon it during lunch and tried the landmark burger. That burger gets 5 stars! The staff is friendly and welcoming, and so is the owner. I was told about their breakfast and decided to come back the next day. Unfortunately, breakfast was not that great. Hash browns tasted like freezer burn, pancakes didn't taste like pancakes, etc. overall, it was a pretty average breakfast. And a decent price. Would recommend this place for lunch, not breakfast. I used to call this the "Expensive Hamburger Place" (as opposed to the McDonalds that used to be in the space) but as everything else creeped up in price now I consider it one of the best values in the St. Paul Skyway. Everything is made to order, tastes fresh, and is consistently delicious. Friendly staff and owner, fresh bakery buns, made to order burgers, and decent specials. If you crave a burger in the St Paul Skyway there's not many options but with a place this good it doesn't matter. Try the Old McDonald (burger with bacon and egg on an English Muffin) or my favorite bargain the "Dryway" (Skyway burger no sauce add pickle) never disappoints. read more

It might not be fair I'm only giving 3 stars based on taste because I did have a cold yesterday when I tried this place so maybe not all of my taste buds were at full strength but this burger didn't stick out to me. I was downtown doing something and since my wife works down there I ended up meeting her for lunch. We were in the Food Court area of ING building where this is located and my wife opted for one of her favorites in that Food Court, which was Pinos Pizza, I on the other hand couldn't resist the delicious aroma of the burger place called Skyway Grill, and I always have to try a new burger joint that isn't a chain to see if it compares to any of the top burger joints in Twin Cities(Shamrocks, 5-8, D-Spot, Blue Door, Groveland Tap, you get where I'm going with this). Nothing stood out about this place and probably the highlight was the garlic Aioli mayo side I ordered. I had the Lower Town burger which wasn't too bad but I tasted too much bun and not enough ingredients on burger or the burger itself, and the patty was very thin. The fries were so, so, nothing to rave about,and the drink with the meal was small. It was almost 10 bucks after all said and done and to me I think maybe could have been put to better use presently at one of the other places in the food court, as my wife was done eating before I got my food because this place took like 15 minutes on my burger, so eating it was a rush down it quick type of deal cause my wife had to get back to work. I understand to have a quality burger it should be cooked from scratch to be fresh and I appreciate that they did that but considering this was the lunch rush in the skyway downtown, most people are on a clock to get back to their jobs and considering this place uses mostly all of the same ingredients on all of their burgers but just different ones for each burger I think they should be able to push out orders quicker than they are currently doing. This place does seem to be doing well as it was busy when I got there so it will probably be around for a while, but I'm rarely downtown, so My chances of reviewing this place again are slim as the next time down there to meet wife for lunch(which is once in a blue moon) I will probably opt for something quicker. read more
