    All American Burger

Stopped in for burgers. Staff were very nice and attentive when ordering. Food came out fast; too fast it seems - burgers were overcooked and tepid like they had been precooked and then warmed. The cheese on my burger was black from the grease fire that seemed to have occurred during reheat. Onion rings were also overdone and tasted more like oil than onion. Considering it was before 1:00 pm, the bathroom was not very tidy. Won't be back...

It was like this all evening.

Great little old-school burger place ! onion rings were great. The all-American burger was spot on. We also got pastrami burger and a southwest burger both were great! Really good service - took a while because it was packed. That's always a good sign when a place is packed. Talked to several locals and this is their go to spot. If Capitol Burger food truck isn't there - like tonight! This is the alternate.

Good food, quick service and clean joint. My husband had the burger and I had the pulled pork and both were fresh and delicious. Yummy shake to end the meal

The normal burgers were good but the kids burgers look like a much cheaper meat. Fries were very greasy so switch to other sides. However service was very friendly and fast.

    Slacker's Special

I ordered the Slackers Special which is supposed to come with bacon. It did come with bacon so I went up to the counter to tell someone. They seemed pretty confused and I had to refer them to their own menu where it clearly says it comes with bacon. They then managed to add half a strip of bacon. This is pretty disappointing especially given I paid $20 for a burger, fries, and soft drink and I think the chicken sandwich with bacon was several dollars more than a regular chicken sandwich.

This was a great little burger spot in Torrey. The usual suspects are on the menu but they also have a couple of great ones you don't see at other places, like the Southwest burger with lots of chilis. The chicken tenders were also really good. The fries were crispy, and everything is made to order. The service was great, there's plenty of seating so if you have a big group you can definitely fit, and they keep ketchup and BBQ sauce out in the front so you don't have to wait in line or ask someone for extra condiments.

It's a home town "fast" burger joint. Very polite, quick service and a great mushroom Swiss burger with good waffle sweet potato fries and a very good buffalo burger. Exactly what we needed and a very nice outdoor seating area. They do have plenty of tables if you choose to sit inside. Not even sure what is with some of the other reviews? Prices are definitely resort area and reflective of inflation! Mushroom Swiss Burger

High-priced, average burgers. I did enjoy the variety of dipping sauces, however. Overall, it was just okay.

Delicious cheeseburger and fries. Others in group had the Asian Chicken Salad and onion rings. All was delicious.

Expensive for a generic burger. It looks like the patty was previously frozen and not very tasty.

Staying in Bicknell after visiting Capitol Reef National park and needed a place to eat dinner…read more This place had lots of positive reviews so this was our choice. Wow! Reviews didn't lie! It's located in Torrey- you can spot the gravel parking lot with lots of cars in front. In fact we actually didn't see the restaurant because there were 2 rows of cars parked in front-a good sign! The menu was varied- from pizza ( more about that later), steak, salads, sandwiches, trout, mexican food. Good selection of alcoholic drinks, beer and soft drinks and even ice cream floats. The meals came with a choice of salad or soup and choice of baked or mashed potato, fries or vegetables. I ordered the steak sandwich which was strips of steak with grilled vegetables -onions and peppers, cheese and a spread of guacamole. It was served on crusty ciabatta bread. I asked for no added salt on the steak and they graciously accommodated me. It was nicely seasoned and didn't need the extra salt. The meat was nice and tender. Hubby ordered the starter dish taco (2) and it had a large piece of battered fried fish. It was crispy and moist. It could be an entree! I saw other diners order the burger and it was thick and large. Another party ordered the large pizza- let me tell you it was huge-almost big as a lazy susan. It could easily feed four or more. And the price was so reasonable- $23 for the premium pizza and $22 for the others. Looking around, all the meals that came out were generously portioned. No wonder the place was full! In spite of the steady flow of customers, the staff was very friendly and helpful and came by to refill waters. We didn't have to wait too long for the food in spite of the busyness. For those wanting a good meal after a day in the park, come here!

My wife had the Southwestern Chicken Wrap on the 1st visit and a medium Deluxe Pizza on our 2nd visit. We were extremely happy with the food and service both occasions. Nothing fancy but very clean and are certain they practice good food safety. I asked for mayo both times and they brought out a cold bottle of Dukes Mayo. Give this place a try.

We stayed at Austin's Chuckwagon Motel for a night while exploring Capitol Reef in one of the…read moreretro-Queen rooms above the store. This is a room that isn't advertised in 3rd party sites and has to be booked on the property website only - it's something like 50% cheaper than the rooms in the hotel. The room comes with unlimited tea, coffee, and hot chocolate from the General Store/Cafe. We were a bit confused with how it worked since other customers have to pay for drinks, but the clerk assured us we could go whenever to get drinks (which we did multiple times!) While we checked in too late in the day to eat at the deli and left too early in the morning for Chuckwagon's famous lunch boxes, we did hit it up in the morning for breakfast pastries, which according to the cashier are all baked in house (and why we were attracted to them in the first place). We were having trouble deciding between the Kouign Amann and the Chocolate Croissant, eventually deciding on the former, but the cashier tossed us the latter for free! What great service! Chocolate Croissant (Complementary, normally $6) - This is a gorgeous looking croissant, golden brown with a drizzle of sweet chocolate on top, still soft and gooey thanks to being fresh from the oven. It's baked hard, so croissant shards fly everywhere while eating. I'd say it's baked a tad too long, so while extremely flaky, the interior isn't quite as chewy as I'd like. The lamination does look quite good from what I can tell after having some difficulty slicing through with a plastic knife. As is traditional, two chocolate batons are baked inside. (5/5) Kouign Amann w/ Cream ($6) - Again, this pastry has a really hard bake, so almost the entire thing shatters easily, except for the stellar caramelized sugar layer covering the bottom. It's hardened, sticky, and sweet with a great crunch factor. The interior is actually correct for a Kouign Amann, which is really surprising for a small-town bakery. It's not laminated nearly as much as the croissant, and instead seems to be a nice enriched brioche interior, albeit not particularly airy and soft in texture due to the bake. There's a really tangy and somewhat sweet cream cheese frosting that's piped into the center. I'd actually prefer the pastry without this extra flourish, but beggars can't be choosers! (5/5) Both pastries are more of a 4.5/5 due to the bake, but the ingredients and technique (other than bake) seem to be well thought out. We were not expecting much from these baked goods given that the Chuckwagon Deli isn't exactly a specialty bakery, but in the end we were extremely surprised by the quality. I'll definitely be revisiting if I'm ever in town again.

Guests of the motel gets free coffee, tea, or hot chocolate from the general store which is open early til late, 10pm I believe. We ate at the deli for breakfast. I was looking forward to the quiche based on what I saw on the Yelp pictures but I guess the menu has changed. They only offer breakfast sandwiches now but it's made to order so we got to choose type of eggs and proteins. It did take a bit a time for them to make it so factor that in when planning your visit. The sandwiches were ~$12 each but were pretty filling so perfect for another day of hiking.
