Went here on a whim after finding most of the nearby restaurants closed on Sunday. Most of us tried the lobster roll, which was pricey- $30. The lobster itself was good, but the roll lacked a lot of flavor. There wasn't any mayo sauce or lettuce, which is usually on a lobster roll. My son's fish sticks kids meal was really good. First time trying Slapfish and we are thrilled with our order. We don't normally try chain restaurants but decided to give this one a try. Poke bowl was awesome as was the grilled fish salad and shrimp lettuce wraps. Other than the friendly girl on the phone the manager or perhaps he was the owner thanked me for coming in. Absolutely love to order from here when I visit Hilton Head which is monthly. With a severe gluten & shellfish allergy they are always more than willing to accommodate my allergies by replacing the shrimp with fish in the beyond yummy power bowl & making the French fries gluten free. Pretty good place to eat. Service is not good and staff acts offense if you ask them about the menu items. The shrimp and lobster sandwiches and burritos are good. Salads and soup are boring and average. Sides need work. Fries suck and the chips are boring and have no flavor. Quesadilla is good buy they don't have sour cream or guacamole. Came in on a June Saturday for lunch on a whim because it was the only place that wasn't packed. The menu is limited, but that's okay. Staff was friendly but a bit lost on the service side. The cashier forgot to enter one of the kids meals, and we would have totally overlooked it had I not reviewed the receipt twice at the table. I had to go back up and order and pay for it. We ordered two lobster rolls (MP was $30 each) and one of them didn't even come out with our food order until I mentioned it to them halfway through our meal. It was just sitting on the food warmer behind the counter. This item was priced too high in my opinion. I had the fried fish(double) and chips, which I thought was decent but there was so much excess oil. It didn't help that the fish was served on top of the fries in a bowl, which in turn made the fries soggy and oily. They should really serve the fish and chips on paper to absorb the oil. I did like the seasoning on the fries though. My niece had the kids cheeseburger and only ate a quarter of it, when she usually can eat an entire serving. I took a bite out of it and it was extremely dry. Not great. Someone mentioned that this is a chain restaurant, which is fine, but I feel like they could have so much more potential. Their tipping service is also confusing because you add tip when you order and pay at the register, yet this is a mostly self serving and self bussing restaurant. I'm not sure I would tip 20% on a $130 order again if we received service like this. That said, I'd be willing to try this place again to see if any improvements were made from my recent visit. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to see grilled fish as an option for "fish and chips," and was pleased to find out that three pieces of grilled fish came with the "single" option (the sizes were "single" or "double"). Great portion sizes. Fries were lightly seasoned, and there was tons of great sauce options to mix it up. There were extra touches, too, like a pickle on the side and a garnish of chopped chives. The staff was polite and gave helpful suggestions when we asked questions, and I saw them cleaning the tables after guests left (even the outside ones). read more

The food here is absolutely AMAZING! We took a variety of meals to go in light of COVID accommodations. The clobster grilled cheese is like grown up grilled cheese heaven!! And the garlic aioli is an added kick that cuts the buttery goodness of the sandwich. The surf and turf burger had rave reviews from our group as well as the lobster taquitos. The overwhelming favorite was the grinder sandwich. Hands down delicious!!! And- pro tip- go with the chowder fries... even if you don't like chowder. My family and I went to this location on HHI twice. The first time was to try the lobster roll and for $25, it was very small. The ambiance and decor is great and the staff were very cheery on both occasions. As a full-time local resident, Slapfish isn't a "local" establishment. Here on the Island, we pride ourselves on fresh local fish and shrimp(from SC waters), veggies and meats from local farms. By this being a California-based eatery, it may be good for vacationers but for locals, it may not go over too well. Also, the kitchen is extremely slow and the wait time on food is ridiculous!! If you're looking for good short order seafood on the island, then try Marley's Shrimp and Burger Shack. It never disappoints. read more

This was our first time to Slapfish and thought the menu looked great. There was only one girl working to take orders and deliver food out to the customers. My husband ordered a double blackened cod sandwich and got a grilled cobia sandwich with a couple of small pieces of fish in it. He was not happy but didn't complain due to the long line. When we got home we realized we had been charged for 4 sourdough rolls that we didn't order or receive and I had requested the Baramundi fish and it was Tilapia (according to the receipt). The food was ok but not great. We were disappointed as we had heard that it was a really good place to eat. Being islanders we might give it another try but with so many options I'm not sure :( read more
