Worst experience of my life I went last year and I'm still growing out the hack job that this hairdresser did. She definitely did not take pride in her job and took it out on my hair. I went there for keratin treatment for my hair on Monday. Instead of keratin I got deep conditioning!! I questioned them with the process too as there was no ironing or leaving keratin in my hair. They assured me this is a better process to avoid heat damage to the hair. Asked me to not wash my hair for 2-3 days and promised effect will last 4-6 weeks. They always greet you as soon as you come in - we love a welcoming, tentative, and friendly atmosphere. Key stories: MARCH 2023 I was over the ends of my former dried and blonde-dyed hair. Kelly wasn't available for a minuteee and I was looking forward to cutting my hair for the spring. I went to a nearby shop and asked for a trim and layers. BIG MISTAKE. Sleek Salon - Fremont (0 Stars) This was by far the worst salon experience I've ever had. I only went in for a simple eyebrow clean-up and manicure, but it turned into a complete nightmare. Overcharging: I have very thin brows, yet they charged me $20 just for eyebrows and $10 for upper lip (which was already clean). A basic mani/pedi with no massage was $60 -- outrageous for the poor service. Unhygienic Conditions: Their food was literally kept on the manicure table, they used dirty, reused towels, and even the same bedsheets where brows were done. Absolutely unsanitary -- it was yuck. Unprofessional Environment: The staff, including Kathy who did my brows, were extremely unfriendly. They barely acknowledged my presence and spoke in Vietnamese the whole time instead of addressing me -- very rude and unprofessional. Misleading Pricing: The price list was handwritten, and even then, they changed the amount at checkout. Shady practice. It may look decent from the outside, but don't be fooled. The environment inside is unwelcoming, dirty, and dishonest. I've been going to Sleek for almost 3 years, but recently felt liked I got duped. Went there for a haircut, but when the stylist recommended if I would be interested for an oil massage, I said yes, assuming the cost would be similar in terms for haircut /styling or less. When I went for the payment, they charged me $70 for the oil massage, which came as a surprise as they didn't even massage rather just put/dripped oil on my hair for about 5 seconds (I'm not exaggerating, it was literal 5 seconds) and put my head in a steamer/heater. My fault was that I didn't ask for the price before saying yes for the oil massage (lesson learnt), but for NO massage with a bill of $70 was completely a scam! If anyone wants to go there, please make sure you ask about the cost for EVERYTHING before you say yes to Anything! Well, so much for my recent praise of this place. I had a hair appointment there last evening. Booking over the phone was easy, and I appreciated that they took me in right on time at 6:30. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. The stylist asked how I wanted my hair cut, and I opted for my usual layers. However, I was frustrated by the judgmental comments about my naturally wavy/curly hair--like, what am I supposed to do about it? The stylist was rough, tugging and pulling throughout, leading to several painful 'ouch' moments. Then came the final straw. When she asked how I wanted my hair styled--waves/curls or straight--I chose straight, only to be told that it would cost extra. This was surprising, as I've been a regular customer for years and never had to pay extra for hair setting after a cut. Apparently, this new charge is a result of the recent management change. I had a terrible experience at this salon recently. I wanted a balayage hair color but ended up with a completely different result, leaving my hair with a blonde-green tone. The stylist told me last minute that she couldn't work on my hair, even though the bleach had been in my hair for 1 hour and 30 minutes. If she had performed a strand test at the beginning, this mishap could have been avoided. Despite reading negative reviews, I still decided to give the salon a chance, but I regret it completely. When we requested a partial refund, the staff was rude and gossiping about us, which didn't surprise me since on the day of my service they were talking about another customer who was also complaining. It took two visits to the salon for us to get someone to assist us. I initially went to the salon to feel more confident, but now I feel insecure about my hair. I know that hair is just hair, but it's disheartening to see my hard-earned money go to waste. I truly wanted to love my hair and tried to convince myself that I liked it, but the more I saw it, the more I disliked it. In total, I paid $382 plus tip for this P.S. I didn't get a refund or any help. They just told me to wash my hair. They only offered money in order for me not to write a review. Save your money and go somewhere else.
