I'm a pizza snob. I like trying different styles and flavor combinations on top of a pizza. But for some good old-school pizza, this is the place to go. I've never been to a New York Pizza restaurant, but this is what I imagined what it would be like. The guys were so nice and courteous. We got the Margherita pizza, and I hate tomatoes on pizza. (Well, I hate tomatoes in general, but that's beside the point.) But the tomatoes were delicious, perfect size, good amount of basil, and not overpowering. It was nice and quiet when we got there, but then the high school across the street let out for lunch, so it got busy fast. Now, while we were there, the high schoolers were not loud and obnoxious. We did leave shortly after only because we were almost done, so I don't know if it got louder. But I remember the guy at the register telling us to have a good day as we were leaving, which meant something to me since he had 5 teenagers in line for food, giving back change, passing out drink cups, and all that jazz. I was craving pizza tonight. After reading reviews about this joint, I decided to give it a try. When I walked in, I noticed several locals enjoying their food and interacting with the staff. I ordered 1/2 Mediterranean and 1/2 Chicken Alfredo. Service was quick. Took it home and prepared for the football game and pizza. 1st bite, I wished I had ordered a Stromboli for tomorrow as well. An unassuming, cramped, and unpretentious hole in the wall, capable of seating perhaps 5-10 parties, mostly this is a place to go to grab a couple slices or a couple pies to go to bring home. I found Slice City surprisingly full of seated parties last night at 6;30 after arriving 15 minutes after ordering 3 pies, 2 salads, 2 sides of marinara, a side of ranch, and an order of pepperoni rolls to go. As always, my full order was prepared on time and perfectly, with no omissions requiring the dreaded return trip. Nope. Everything perfect, hot, and delicious. New York style pizza by the pie or slice is what they do here. All attention is paid to what they do best, with zero distractions, such as ambiance, games, singing waiters (there are no waiters), or dancing animals playing in a band. Yes, they have great pizza rolls, salads, and a couple desserts, too, but the star attraction is the traditional NY style pizza. There is a special posted on the window of one slice, salad, soft drink for $8.50 but there is no mention of it inside. As you walk up to Slice City Pizza painted on the window is a special stating A slice of pizza, salad and a drink for $6.95. I was taking a quick lunch stop so I didn't want salad. It didn't matter, when I placed my order for just one slice and a drink the young, curly headed male cashier didn't bother to mention the special anyway. I like the pizza here and I appreciate the thin crust which I definitely have a strong preference for. The sweet tea was delicious but entirely too sweet so I used both tea urns so I could use the unsweetened to cut that sugar. I withheld a star because of non existent customer service from the three young guys working while simultaneously playing on their cellphones and watching NFL on the TV across from the counter. I had a really great experience here! It was so great that I gave it five stars! My very first five star rating! Let me explain why. I love how Slice City Pizza is located in a shopping center strip. I love the red decor. Pizza slices were super large. One slice was like two slices! Our small group dinner club was given a free appetizer! We were blessed with a free Spinach Wheel! It was delish. We loved the tomato sauce and the freshness of the dough. Our server had the biggest smile when he delievered our food. He brought so much joy to our table! Later when, he brought our pizza he asked, if we needed anything else? They way he said, it was like he really meant it. He asked, if we wanted ranch dressing so, my friend and were like, sure. Ranch tasted a little too much like Mayo. Oh well, there was no charge. So, Im not complaining. Our pizza was crispy, filled w/ lots of pepperoni and photgraphed well too! I loved how our table was right next to the kitchen. Pastor Steve blessed our food and he prayed for the people who prepared our food. Im sure the kitchen staff heard our prayers. Had a great experience here! The service was awesome and the people were fun to talk to. They helped us figure out the menu. I got the slice, salad and a drink option ($6.95 + tax) with a slice of margarita pizza! It was delicious!! He threw in an extra slice of cheese pizza Bc he felt the slice I had wasn't big enough. SCP is most definitely the best NY pizza in FW, and probably all of DFW. The owner, "Tony," gets 6 stars out of 5 for being the coolest, friendliest, most caring, and most generous shop owner you could ever desire. These Albanians know their pizza! We're big fans of Slice City - they make a great pie and a by-the-slice place is long overdue for a this area. They always have a nice assortment of pies at the ready, and are happy to add toppings before warming up your slice. The slices aren't cheap - $4 for a multi-topping, less for cheese or pepperoni - but it's tasty and fresh. I think they have lunch combo deals.
