When "fast food" becomes a 30-minute meditation session I pulled into the Slim Chickens drive-thru this evening completely unaware I was about to participate in a slow-motion social experiment. No cars at the speaker. Two at the windows. A parking lot so empty it felt like I'd arrived after closing time by mistake. Everything screamed "quick stop." So naturally, I ordered 10 tenders, a large fry, fried mushrooms, and one of those little jar desserts--fully expecting to be back on the road in the time it takes to regret not ordering more sauce. Instead, I accidentally queued up Waiting for Chicken: Director's Cut (Extended Silence Edition). Eight minutes in, the same two cars were still parked at the window like they'd signed long-term leases. Ten minutes later, I finally reached the first window... just to pay, which felt like paying admission to a very slow theme park ride. Then time stopped behaving normally. Fifteen minutes: still there. Twenty minutes: still there, but spiritually I had left. Twenty-five minutes: I began to suspect the fryer was being assembled on-site from raw materials. At that point I genuinely wondered if the chickens were still in orientation--filling out HR paperwork and learning the company mission statement. At 28 minutes, I gave a polite little honk, the universal language for "hello, I exist and may have been forgotten." No response. Not even a glance. Just me, my car, and the growing sense I had been absorbed into the drive-thru ecosystem. So I parked and went inside. Inside, I was greeted by an employee who looked like I had just interrupted a very important conversation with absolutely nothing. I mentioned I'd been waiting nearly half an hour. The response: "Sorry, we're backed up." "Backed up" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. Because the dining room was empty. The parking lot was empty. I've seen more congestion in a library on a Tuesday. I've had sit-down meals, full appetizers-to-dessert affairs, arrive faster than it took to travel from speaker to window. Look, I get it--busy happens. Chaos happens. Someone drops a tray and suddenly the universe is off schedule. But 30 minutes of silence is not "busy." That's a missing persons case with fries. The food was fine. Not "worth the wait" fine, just "this is definitely chicken" fine. But no amount of tenders should come with the existential experience of wondering if time has stopped specifically for you. Next time I want a 30-minute dining experience, I'll book a table somewhere that at least has the courtesy to pretend I'm still in the same dimension. read more

Visited Slim Chickens for the first time. The young man that took my order was very friendly. I ordered the Crispy Chicken Sandwich. I think the sandwich would have been great if the chicken wasn't cold and dry. They say it's hand breaded and cooked to order, but there's no way this chicken was cooked when I ordered it. The facility appears to be fairly new, but it was filthy. I would look for other options in the area to get your chicken sandwich fix. read more

Normal Wednesday around lunch. Went to the drive through and after ordering was told to pull forward, no problem. Waited 20 minutes just to get someone else's food. Had to back up in line and got told to wait again. We waited an additional 20 minutes then just drove off without our meal that we paid $30 for having waited 40 minutes to make 2 standard meals on the menu. We saw about 10 other cars leave the drive through as well based on the wait. Do not plan on going back unless it's slow and in person. This was my first experience with the restaurant. I decided to go as it looked similar to something like a Chick-Fil-A or SuperChix, and was close by. I ordered 3 grilled tenders with fries. Despite ordering my food and picking it up within 6 minutes of ordering online (said in would be ready in 9 minutes), the food was ice cold. The tenders were small, cold, chewy, and had no seasoning. I wish i would have taken a photo, as I opened the box to look and I immediately lost my appetite. The fries were disappointing and tasted like frozen fries from the grocery store. I couldn't eat it. Typically, I don't leave reviews at all unless i have an amazing experience, or a very negative one. I feel the need to say that I regret wasting my money here. Today's disappointing stars are brought to you solely by Slim Chickens. Tho I did order through Door Dash , the bad food and missing food items were solely on the restaurant workers and this is the 2nd time so I really felt I needed to update my review. Not sure if this location has staff issues but two times is cause for concern. Today's order via Door Dash was expensive $46.00 . The food took over an hour to get into the dashers hands and for the 2nd time the dessert was missing. That delicious brownie that I wrote about in an earlier review- so that is just really disappointing. I did call the store and spoke with a manager prior to posting this to be clear that this was a 2nd time I have had poor customer service and quality from this location in the last 3-4 months. I may update this sometime but I guarantee it won't be happening again soon. When I do, I will let you know how it goes . Just for today this place is a hard no for me. read more

Bad. Just...bad. I've been here many times, though not for quite some time. Things have plummeted since my last visit. Today I went through the drive through. That odyssey began with a curt, "Thanks for coming. It will be a few minutes". Ok. Fairly normal since Covid. Waited five minutes. Ordered a kid's meal and a large half & half tea. They stumbled over the drink for the kid's meal and my tea. We worked it out, though not easily or fast. That took five minutes. I moved up to the first window in order to pay, as instructed. There were two cars ahead of me. Nobody came to take my payment. Ever. Another five minutes. They eventually, though with obvious difficulty and confusion, got the orders filled for the cars ahead. They left. Lucky. I sat for a bit, but seeing nobody at my window and a live employee at the second window, I went for it and pulled up the 20 feet to the second window. My mistake. The employee vanished into thin air. Another customer pulled in behind me at the first window and the vanished employee reappeared. She seemed to know the driver of the car behind me, as they entered into a lengthy, relaxed chat. Nobody came to my window. I sat there for another five minutes. A new employee opened the window suddenly and asked if I had a kid's meal. "Yes". She handed me a bag, tossed a "Have a nice day", and disappeared. I checked my bag. No kid's drink. No tea. I waited, as I had not paid anything to anyone. Another five minutes. My child told me to go inside. I didn't want to, as my patience was shot at this point, but after a couple more minutes of being ignored, I pulled out, parked, and trudged inside. Once there, I was ignored by the one counter person. Another five minutes. She finally asked if I wanted to dine in or take out. "Neither". I explained my order was incomplete and I had not paid. That took a couple minutes, as I was trying to be polite and clear. "You already went through the drive through?" "Yes". Not really the point but sure, let's start out easily. "I will tell them". She spun on her heel and disappeared into the back. I was starting to think it was a franchise run by Houdini. ANOTHER five minute wait. A completely new employee appeared and stared at me. "Yes, sir?" Seriously? Nothing? So I explained the entire irritating tale again. He looked up my order, reentered it, screwed up my drink order (it had become something of a tradition by now, I suppose), and charged me for my order. Fine. Just get me out of here, please. The wrong size tea arrived. He noticed it, told someone to get the large I had ordered, then they both disappeared. I swear, the only thing missing was a poof of dark smoke and the scent of brimstone. A final five minutes passed. The counter employee returned to deal with the next person in line. No sign of recognition or my drink. "Can I just have a cup? I can pour my own drink". A confused look, a perfunctory "Thanks for your patience", and a large cup was proffered. I poured my own drink and, finally, happily departed. Well over 45 minutes spent getting a kid's meal and a drink. Sat in the drive through AND waited at the counter. No apology. No effort to create a pleasant customer experience. No sense of urgency, customer service, or anything approaching an idea of caring for another human being. The food was fine, but obviously long cold by the time I was able to serve it. But the complete lack of anything I would dare define as customer service ruined the experience and has turned me off to this location. It was so bad, I'm here on Yelp telling others. Gah I don't know how this is a chicken place. Husband and I ordered two chicken sandwich meals and this was the worst chicken sandwich I've had in years. The chicken patty tasted like it was cooked two days ago, sat out all day, went into a fridge and then was microwaved today. It was also a super thin patty with no crispness on the little bit of breading it had. On top of that it wasn't even hot. This place, is okay. Fast chicken. I'm currently sick so I sent my husband to go get chicken tenders and fries for the kids. In the bag came 5 sauces we didn't order (none of what we did order) and one of them the lid came fully off so unboxing our meal was a MESS. My husband went back to get the correct sauces (picky kids iykyk) and requested food to be remade bc by the time he gets home a SECOND time the food would be cold not to mention covered in sauce. Manager wouldn't even come out. Mistakes happen, but how things are fixed speaks volumes. PS don't get the fried pickles, ours were fried to a crisp couple hardly tell there was a pickle in there. There were no other customers on a Tuesday at 6:30. Place was fully staffed. Person taking our order rushed us and was difficult to understand. Waited a solid 15 minutes for our food and figured it was a good sign that we would get freshly cooked food after getting off of a 9 hour flight. a hot day of door dashing had me stopping by slim chickens to try out their milk shakes. I recently had their chicken and waffles and was looking for something sweet to cool me off. I used the drive thru for the first time. a sweet young lady greeted me and took my order of an Oreo shake. same nice lady greeted me at the window and presented my shake to me. cup size was descent. not small but not large either. it came with what has to be described as a tube not a straw. :) it took some sucking but I finally got the milkshake to start flowing. it was very good. lots of Oreo bits included. the size of the shake was just right by the time I finished my sweet tooth was satisfied. I think they are coming out with a Reese's cup shake soon. might be back to try that! read more

When you're in the South, it's hard to go wrong with chicken. I had their Cayenne Ranch Sandwich. Not too spicy but kinda small. They put a huge piece of lettuce on it and add a couple of pickles. The menu selection is fairly straightforward and about what you would expect. I get the sense they are a cross between Chic-Fl-A and Popeyes. They do a good job with their self-serve beverage selection. A lot of variety plus they have sweet & un-sweet tea as well a fresh made lemonade, did someone say Arnold Palmer? They have a good sized covered patio which will be nice for the good weather. Plenty of free parking. read more

Just when I thought there were enough chicken places, along comes Slim Chickens. I've been twice and they've only been open a little over a week. So it's good. We went through the drive-thru the first time and sat on the patio the second time. Service has been fast and friendly, even in the drive-thru. When we dined there, staff even came outside to check on us. Now the food. People keep on comparing to others, but I think it can stand on its own. They have tenders, wings, salads, wraps, southern sides and some fun desserts. The chicken tenders can also be grilled. My first meal was the four tenders and fries and came with toast. This chicken is some of the most juicy and tender I've tried. The breading is light and not too spicy. The fries were skinny and seasoned, but I enjoyed them. I also tried the cayenne ranch sandwich which was good. I wish it had more sauce because the cayenne mayo was not coming through. I also tried the potato salad and enjoyed it. It has a bit of a loaded potato salad flavor. And best of all my picky toddler enjoys the mac and cheese. They have a ton of sauces, but will charge for extra. And even with four tenders, you only get one sauce. I hate that because I want to try them all. So far I've enjoyed the hot honey, cajun ranch and Korean bbq. I forget to mention, the prices are reasonable and lower than the competition. We will add this into our dinner rotation. read more

Updating my review because I see the company does read what people post. We've been back a few times since my original post. I do agree with what others say about the food being salty. Our last visit (drive thru) it was almost so salty that it was inedible. And I like salty food - but this is crazy. With that said, the BBQ chicken wrap is really tasty as is the okra. The fries are not worth getting. They are just bad frankly. Ultimately though, they need to lay off the salt shaker! read more

We've had some good / ok visits in the past. Not this one. I ordered just a chicken sandwich. Nothing else. Was in the drive thru 15 mins when they asked me to move to a parking space. There were 4 cars in the lot total. 2 in the drive thru. I thought perhaps they had a lot of online orders. Anyway, 7 more minutes pass and they bring my sandwich. I just left the fort mill location I got there at 3:48pm ordered a slime wrap and was told to pull up to the cone which was expected with this location. However, I should've just kept going because I needed to be quick and this location is everything but! I sat and watched 3 other cars after me get there food and leave. I was also asked again what I ordered. after waiting another 15 min after that I received my food with the incorrect sauces. so now I have to park and go inside because no one was at the window to help. I am very aggravated and at least wish something more was done to ensure I left happy! I never leave reviews but I'm so annoyed by my experience today that I just had to leave a review. I was really hoping to like this restaurant. The food was a let down. Mediocre at best. Soggy fries that were over salted. Chicken tenders were good but nothing exceptional. The buffalo chicken wrap is more wrap than anything and had so much sauce it was a mess. No tomato on mine either. Staff was friendly and helpful when ordering. In a world full of quick chicken restaurants, this one does not stack up. Everything was very salty, by very I mean way overly yuck salty. we have visited Slim Chickens twice since it opened. Both times we were impressed by how clean it was. The staff have been friendly and welcoming each time as well. I like how when you sit down inside they check on you and offer to refill drinks, etc. it's a better experience. The food is good! We've only had tenders both times, but I like that you can change up the dipping sauce and they have a lot of options. read more

It started well enough in the drive thru. Pleasant order taker, repeated everything back, and it was all good. Then we get to the payment window, I was greet d and told they'd be with me in a minute. Good job greeting me, so well done there. On to the pickup window and it started to unravel. I'm handed the food bags and then... no drink. Alright, no big deal, I'll just ask for the root beer. So I did and got a bit of an attitude, not huge, but still, I asked politely and it wasn't my fault. The guy comes back and hands me two small cups. Confused I asked what they were and was told shakes. "Thank you, but these probably belong to the people behind us. We just need our root beer." Another bit of attitude then we got the root beer and no straw. I wasn't going to ask, so I just drove home with our meal. Home now and the sandwich that wasn't part of a combo was in with the combo and the combo sandwich was by itself. Not a big deal on its own, but we are building upon everything here. The sandwich ordered without cheese and mayonnaise had... Yep, cheese and mayonnaise. The bright side, the food was good. Just gotta get the details around ordering and customer service right. Will I go back? If I'm in a chicken sandwich mood on that side of town, probably. But in an area where the chicken wars are hot, they really need to make sure they get it right. read more

I stopped by one day after watching my daughter coach her volleyball team. i had read about it as well as heard about and it was all good things. The inside is nice and very clean and plenty of seating and they also had tv's. I got the chicken and waffles and the wife got wings. the waffle was fluffy and good but the chicken i thought lacked seasoning. i did taste my wife's wings and they were ok but she thought they were good but overly sauced. So why the 3 stars, the service and something else i really found odd, I had to pay for a honey mustard sauce for my chicken when i ordered chicken and waffles and it wasn't like an extra sauce, it didn't come with one. Would i go back again, of course, everyone deserves a second chance. If you're ever in the neighborhood of this establishment, check it out. read more

The entire experience of pulling into the drive thru was terrible. The drive thru window seemed like the place was 50 years old. The employee walked away from the window after taking my card. They left off a drink and the food was pretty crappy. The fried okra was frozen okra. The fries were bad, the breading on three of my five tenders was soggy and falling off. It was my first encounter with Slim. I chose to purchase the chicken and waffles and a vanilla shake. Waffle was light and fluffy, and the chicken was crispy with just the right amount of batter, and ample syrup but not drowning in it. It was clear to me that the food was prepared with care. The shake was also similar quality and hard to stop drinking until it was gone. Ambiance was fine, brightly lit, fitting for the positive energy here. I'll be back! read more

Used to go here weekly to get food/milkshakes and it was always fast and a good experience. However recently there was a new employee taking drive thru orders/payment. His name is Rodrick. Went on 8/8/2023 and purchased two milkshakes. That night at like 12:30am, my credit card got hit for a fraudulent charge. Thankfully it got denied. Ordered a new CC just in case. Fast forward to today and a coworker of my wife had the same thing happen yesterday after going to this location, fraudulent charge late last night. She said Rodrick was the one who took her card payment as well. Rodrick needs to be fired and charged with attempted fraud. Avoid this location at all costs if Rodrick is working because he will take a picture of your credit card and try to buy stuff later that night. read more

I was excited for this place to open and was minimally impressed. I ordered the buffalo fried chicken wrap with fried pickles as my side. The fried pickles were good but the wrap was not good. There was barely any chicken in there just at the top of the wrap at the bottom of the wrap was full of lettuce to the point i felt like i was eating a veggie wrap. There was no taste of Buffalo sauce. It also gave me really bad stomach problems the next day so beware. My husband ordered the 6 wing meal and fried pickles and again pickles good but wings were tough and overcooked. If you want a good buffalo chicken wrap go to Carolina Ale house so much chicken in there it falls out of wrap. There are better chicken places out there not impressed. read more
