Flight of beer was tasty, the jalapeño and cream cheese wontons were good, the huckleberry sauce that came with them was excellent! My main issue with this place and many other in West Yellowstone is the pricing. $100 dollars for an app, 2 burgers, a flight if beer, and one beer seems pretty spendy.....of course it's tourist season and last year was pretty rough, but dang! I was someone who went in expecting to spend $50-60 a meal, I do get it. They have bills and long winters but the food was not worth the price. I am guessing it was ok to park in the street as there was no private lot. There were only 3 other cars in the street so I wasn't sure but I didn't get a ticket. The restaurant decor is beautiful and really cool. The bar area is really nice. The tables and booths are cool. Two nice fireplaces. One had two comfy chairs in front of them. Nice big TVs for watching sports. The service was just ok. The waiter was nice but but just ok Kid had chicken fingers ($10) which he enjoyed. It came with fresh cut Idaho fries. I had the angus burger ($10). It was ok as it tasted plain so added a tom if ketchup. The fries I had were under cooked. I can taste the hard part in it. Hubby had the Elk burger ($15) with sweet potatoe fries. The sweet potatoe fries were awesome. He wasn't impressed with the Elk burger. I wanted to believe it was fresh but kind of tasted as a frozen patty. The round shape was too perfect to feel fresh. They had a shuffle board table but we were told my husband could not use it with my 9 year old. They said hubby would need and ID and only adults. A bit disappointing. After a long day in Yellowstone national park we stopped here for dinner. We couldn't decide between the bison burger or the elk burger so we ordered one of each and they offered to cut them in half so we could share. I typically don't care for elk, but this burger was divine. My bison burger was amazing. I did order Swiss cheese on the top and that was a good choice. Came in around 1:00pm and were seated immediately. We wanted to try this place since it has vegan options and we were totally tired of beef heavy meals. I ordered the Beyond Burger with fries while my husband got the French onion soup and pub salad. The burger was delicious and so were the fries! There was a mountain of hand cut fries which I shared since there was no way I could possibly finish them. My husbands French onion soup was delicious, if a bit salty and the salad was as expected. Overall we would come back since this is the only place to offer vegan options which we really appreciate! I would love more vegan condiments or even some vegan cheese to be added to the menu to bump it up a notch, but we'll be back here again for sure! read more

Times on Yelp are wrong. It's a pub so we thought it was weird that it closed at 9, and sure enough, it was still open at 9:30 when we walked by. It's one of the few late night spots in West Yellowstone so be prepared to wait during peak times. My three friends and I came on a Thursday night and had to wait 20-30 minutes for a table. Finally got seated around 10 pm. They have a decent food selection, with a variety of salads, burgers, and pizzas, along with an impressive local beer menu. I opted for a glass of the riesling ($6) as well 3 pieces of fish and chips ($14). The riesling was sweet and refreshing, which is what I wanted after a long day exploring Yellowstone in the sun. The pieces of fried fish were good, but I was disappointed by the fries, which tasted like they had been sitting out for a little bit. My friends ended up finishing them and said they tasted more like baked fries than fried. Overall food was decent and drinks were good. My Father and I had high hopes for this place after driving all day from Utah. We both had what we considered some of the worst beers we have ever tasted to start. We ordered jalapeño wontons which were pretty good flavor I will admit. But we unfortunately ordered the $21 elk burgers with added smoked Gorgonzola. What we got was a slice of provolone on top of the wettest piece of lettuce I've possibly ever seen followed by a patty that I would argue was definitely just beef and very obviously frozen and cooked to about the consistency of a NHL hockey puck. While visiting Yellowstone we decided to leave the park for lunch and head to the Town of West Yellowstone. We noticed the Slippery Otter Pub and decided to give it a try. Upon entering we were quickly greeted and seated. The person seating us immediately apologized saying that they were short handed and service might be a bit slow. What we experienced was the complete opposite. Our server was both very personable and very hard working. He immediately brought us a pitcher of water while we looked at the menu and as soon as we were ready took our orders. Our service was excellent and the food was delicious. The atmosphere here is of a bar/restaurant. Everyone was very satisfied with their order and we all had the same opinion of the server. I really was looking forward to bringing our large group of 16 people to this pub after reading many reviews. When we got to the restaurant we were promptly seated. The adults and kids were separated which wasn't ideal but we were understanding because of just how busy the pub was. Our waiter lacked attention to detail, when I mentioned we were ready to order and needed more water he said that he would be back and then didn't for several more minutes. The adults all ordered burgers, cheese cost $1.50 more for each burger. I ordered sweet potato fries which were yummy! Several of our burgers were hardly warm. The fries were not "fresh". Our children ordered corn dogs and they were spicy. I think they must of been fried with something spicy, so our kids only ended up eating their fries. Just had lunch here again. It is our fave burger lunch spot in West Yellowstone. Today I had the pepper burger with fries and a "Pig's Ass Porter"...positively decadent! I don't always eat a 3000 calorie lunch. I have had all their salads and they were delicious. My wife orders her burgers sans buns and they are happy to accommodate such nonsense! BTW: The French fries are the best in town bar none; maybe the best in all of Montana. Oh, and the draft beer selection is wonderful. The staff here were busting their butts. Clearly they were understaffed. Somehow they still had smiles on their faces. Cody was the bartender and our server. After a drive to and from Bozeman to look at a new car, we stopped into the Slippery Otter for dinner, and sat at the bar. Our server was attentive and sweet. Hubby ordered the mushroom Swiss with the sweet potato fries. Other than the burger being a bit overdone, he liked his meal. I ordered the fish and chips. We had just been talking about fish and chips earlier, so when I saw it on the menu I was pleased. What I wasn't pleased with were the two, tiny, reminiscent-of-Gorton's-frozen-fish-sticks-on-top-of-a-pile-of fries dinner which I was served. I wasn't even provided a dinner plate. What I had was an approximately 6"x6" appetizer plate, from which the fries were overflowing onto the bar counter. The bartender sensed my unhappiness and when I told her that I was surprised at the size of the fish, she informed me that had I asked, she would have told me the size. I don't want to come off as critical of her, however, because she was excellent in every other facet. Now, perhaps being from New England, I am spoiled when it comes to fish and chips expectations. I poured on my requested malt vinegar and dug in. They weren't bad. Didn't have a frozen taste and were flaky and not fishy. It's just that I didn't want to fill up on fries alone. I wanted fish. But that was not to be. My two little miniature fish surfboards were devoured toute suite, and I was left with a plethora of fries falling from my equally miniature plate.
