    Hellapeńo Burger
    Raúl R.

This place has some pretty good smash burgers. I tried the Hellapeńo Burger. It was a double with onion rings and jalapeños. It also has hot honey. Which made the burger a bit sweet, but it works. Sweet and saver is a great combo. I also tried their version of " animal style fries" However, this one comes with a burger patty. So if you don't feel like getting too much bread, you could just get the fries. Put the patty on top and you're good to go. It has grilled onions, and their special sauce. You can't go wrong with that. Everything was really tasty. I am definitely coming back. The service was good. Took our order and our food came out pretty quick. There's plenty of seating. You could either sit on a table or like a bar table.

Burgers are smacking! Food was made in a timely manner. The guys working that day were friendly. We were given house sauce and ranch. The ranch is delicious! The exit out of the parking lot could be a bit challenging.

Best breakfast burrito in the Bay without a doubt! They really made sure it was as quality as their smash burgers which are always a hit and always SMACKIN. Point me to a better breakfast burrito and I will promptly call you a liar, sorry not sorry! Shoutout to them for doing business in the heart of downtown San Leandro!

We visited on March 5th around 5pm for our first time and had a great experience. Matthew helped us out and was super friendly, great customer service. The place itself is really nice, with plenty of seating and lots of parking, which is always a plus in LA. We ordered the Hellapeño, Big Smack, and a side of waffle fries. Everything was delicious. Prices are decent, and they also have a great selection of sauces to choose from. Definitely recommend this spot and we'll for sure be coming back!

The happy hour is such a good deal. $10 for any burger and fries. The fries are actually good. Usually waffles fries are trash, but theirs are crispy. The burger is solid, too. But it's a little... dare I say... over seasoned lol. Whatever seasoning blend they use, they were heavy handed with it so I thought it was a bit salty. I tried the smack sauce and ranch. Definitely get the smack sauce (their house made burger sauce). I think the regular prices are kind of high; there are other good smash burger spots with a similar concept and better prices. But I'll likely be back for happy hour again.

Ok today we were hunting for something new. We failed on two other joints but found this little gem in the rough. First off parking is easy. Second go during happy hour. Any burger and waffle fries for $10.00. (2/27/2025) add a coke of course. Total bill for two was like 25... a bargain. The burgers and the fries were served piping HOT. The Smeeze bacon burger is a double (2X 1/3 lbs patties) Cheese onions bacon bbq sauce. Onions yes lots of em. The waffle fries are crispy and tasty. Our food was delivered fairly fast but the extra piping hot fries and burger were worth the extra moment of waiting. Service was good and provided by people happy to be there! Both of us really enjoyed our burgers and fries. We like this joint but think it could use a little more decor to liven it up a bit. I went back again with another person and we had a very good experience. This really is a very accessible (for now) burger in LA's sea of tacos Smack is a breath of fresh air. This is a solid burger joint in Korea town.

Very clean, nice resturant, and friendly customer service. Ordered the Hellapeno Box smash burger - double cheese patty, onion rings, bacon, bbq sauce, grilled onions, and there secret sauce. Very tasty burger smash burger. Love it that comes with waffle fries a little different than all other smash burger spots. For sure I'll come back if in the area.

Wanted a burger and it was solid. I'd rather spend money here than in n out. I only tried the baydestrian and it was really yummy! Maybe a little steep on the price compared to in n out but its okay once in a while. They do have a little parking lot which is nice. High traffic area tho so keep that in mind . I would come again with more people to try more things .

The burgers here are absolutely delicious! I'm obsessed with their fries as well, so good! Everything is well seasoned and cooked perfectly. It service was friendly, they are efficient and hard-working. The prices are worth it as the portions are large, filling and satisfying. The food was made to order quickly and they have plenty of easy parking as well as indoor seating. Great option if you're looking for a delicious burger in the area! Highly recommended!

Smack Burgers opened last year and recently got the chance to try it. The interior decor is pretty cool with the black and yellow theme. They have two entrances leaving both wide open. Problem with this is that, with the recent LA fires, I'm not sure if it was ashes or dust but it was accumulating a bit on the countertops. They have no TV's so you can't watch a game while chowing down. Food: The menu is really simple. Every burger has 2 smash patties. I got the Bacon Smeeze which is like a BBQ Burger. The burger was okay. It lacked BBQ sauce it barely had BBQ sauce on the burger. The waffle fries are seasoned and they tasted good. Very similar to Carl's Jr Crisscut Fries. Overall: Nothing special or nothing stands out to me at Smack Burgers. Kind of disappointed since I was excited to try with my friend who lives down the block. The Bacon Smeeze box combo (fries + soft drink) comes out to $21.35. I'm not quite sure if the meal was worth $21. There are better tasting options out there for even cheaper prices. I didn't see any promos for happy hour so I'm not sure if they still have that promo. Most likely won't come back unless the happy hour exists and I'll try a different burger to give it a second shot.

Unexpectedly came across this place as my fiance and I were driving to a different burger place. We decided to try this spot to try something new and I'm happy we did. The service was very nice and the place is basically a cute little burger joint. We luckily came during happy hour so prices were very good and we spent way less than we expected. The food was also bomb. The trench fries were amazing. They were seasoned perfectly, and the burger sauce they gave me on the side was perfect to dunk them in. The burgers were also delicious. My fiance got they plain Jane and he said the patties were seasoned perfectly. Even though it was out of the way, we definitely will be back.

If you're a smash burger fan, this spot is a must-try! The patties are cooked to perfection with those crispy edges and packed with flavor. I had the Big Smack, and it hit every craving juicy, cheesy, tangy from the pickles, and that house smack sauce ties it all together. The Smack Fries are next-level loaded with grilled onions, cheese, and more of that addictive smack sauce. Definitely worth upgrading your side. Prices are super fair for the quality, and you can tell everything is made fresh. Staff was friendly and quick, and the whole vibe here is casual and welcoming. This place absolutely nails the smash burger game can't wait to come back and try the HellaPeño next time!

Ive been on a burger tear recently, and Smack Burger didn't disappoint. Out of all the smash type burgers I've tried, this one is definitely the best so far. I got the "Baydestrian" Burger, and it was seasoned to perfection. Don't forget to add pickles, because it doesn't come with any. The onion rings and waffles fries are also cooked to perfection. The place is clean, simple menu, and the cashier was super chill.

We stopped in on a Sunday around 11:30, no line and very quick service! Finished eating and left around 12:05 so we must've lucked out with no line. We got two double cheese burgers and the loaded fries. The burger had impressively thin patties with a really nice char on the meat skirt, well seasoned, and perfectly crispy. The buns were quite small and a bit smooshed, but they were soft. It came with some fry sauce and pickles as well, overall a good burger. The fries had a good amount of toppings (cheese onions, fry sauce) and were nice and crispy. Kinda wish the onions were slightly more grilled for some extra flavor! Would probably go for plain next time as the loaded fries and burger together had similar flavors The interior has a few benches for seating and single bar type seating around the perimeter - I could see it filling up if there's a big line of people. Would like to try the chicken sandwich and brussel sprouts next time we stop by!

The Big Mac stays the same. I went to LA to taste, apparently, the best burger in LA at For the Win. I paid $25 for two smash burgers and had high expectations. After all, when you click this joint on Google Maps, a fancy review pops up. Nice! However, when the smash burger entered my cave and caressed my buds, my mind instantly recognized it as a Big Mac. Therefore, my brain could hardly differentiate between a McDonalds burger, and the "best" burger in LA. I haven't eaten at McDonalds in 14 years, but my mind still knew what a gentle and warm face looks like. So overall, it was alright! As the reverend Shane Gillis says "Not Bad". The service was good tho. And the ambiance was a bit weird because the music was off. Haha bye!!!

I'm not going long on this one but I have few things to say. First of all, I had a hard time finding it. No sign on the street. Apple Maps walking mode failed me miserably. It's buried back in a street mall. It's on the ground level. From Broadway, walk in the main entrance of the mall, and it's about halfway in on your left. The sign is subtle, but you'll find it, or just ask someone. That's what I did. It's a small place. A few tables inside and several outside. You'll likely find a place to sit and enjoy your food. I ordered the classic smashed, Amboy style. Very simple burger, and that's how I wanted it. I had it double, because it's just $2 extra. Yes, it's a good burger, but it was really salty. I think it would have been much better with half as much salt. I was super thirsty after I ate it. I had to buy a bottle of water for my ride home. The fries are good and plentiful, and for just $5 that's a great deal! I'm glad I had the burger and wanna' go back and try the non-smashed Slim Thicc burger. I think that one will be money!! The service was great and so was the staff!

I happened to be in the area, and even though I'd already eaten, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to finally drop in. Irv's originally opened in 1946 as Queen's Burgers, located right on Route 66 on Santa Monica Boulevard in WeHo, and was deeply ingrained in LA's historic car culture. In 1970, Irv Genis bought the stand and renamed it Irv's Burgers, and it quickly became a legendary late-night spot for rock icons like Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison. By 2000, Sonia Hong took over, famously hand-drawing doodles on the paper plates alongside her signature slogan, "Just for you." After closing in 2013 and again in 2018, Lawrence Longo partnered with Sonia in 2021 to bring the brand back to life. They've since expanded quite a bit, even opening locations in Malibu and Las Vegas. On a staff recommendation, I ordered Irv's Original Roadside Burger Double ($11.25). Honestly, it was just okay. While a certain amount of grease and salt is expected with a burger, this one crossed the line into being a bit too salty and oily. On the bright side, the sesame bun was excellent, and I loved that they kept Sonia's legacy alive by printing her classic doodles on the tray placemats. While I'm glad Irv's was saved from history and is expanding, the food itself felt pretty so-so. The outdoor tables were also a bit dirty during my visit. I still love that classic roadside burger stand aesthetic with the outdoor stools, but unfortunately, I won't be in a rush to head back.
