I've been here countless times as the location is convenient. What prompted me to finally leave a review was based on my last visit. I was here post Cubs game so they were super busy as to be expected. The staff was doing a great job and I noticed that the manager had stepped in to help. He was taking orders, checking people out, manning the grill, right along with the staff. You don't see that often so I thought it deserved a shoutout. As for the food, they make every batch of french fries made to order and they are always the hottest, freshest fries which makes them so so good! The italian beef and phillies are great. I'm just not the biggest fan of this place and it's due mostly to the menu. They don't offer anything in the hot dog category besides a normal dog. Most stands will offer a jumbo which is typically a sufficient amount of food. Otherwise you're having to eat two and still feeling a bit peckish. The fries are à la carte which is a bit annoying and there's no meal deal. There's no shakes or any fun drink options either. It's just very bare bones and it's out of line with the other stands in the area. Clark Street Dog is my go-to place for a solid hotdog or polish! I've visited Clark Street Dog in person and ordered delivery many times, the food has always been consistent. The inside is setup for quick dining! They can easily accommodate solo or parties of four. My go-to is the Maxwell street polish and Chicago dog. I'm not that much of a fan of their Italian beef meat (it's slightly dry even when dipped) so I order the sausage and Italian beef combo every so often. But the hot dog and Maxwell street polish are solid. They're also one of the few places, that I've found, who offers the option of taking off all the ingredients for their items. Here is yet another place to get a Chicago style hot dog. It's located on Clark Street if you couldn't tell from the name, obviously. The Clark Street Dog is a pretty crummy looking place, but that's part of the charm it seems. Also it has a bar section if wanting sone drinks with the food. The prices are actually kind of a rip off on beers and such but better for the actual hot dogs to be honest. Came in the last time, and we got some drinks and the Veggie Hot Dogs. It has the bar section, but we sat in the diner section. The tables were pretty sticky and needed a wiping. It has cans of beer in the cooler near the entrance. These are quite a ripoff, and this was for the cheap shit too. It's $5 for a fucking can of Old Style. Might as well get a craft on draft, so fuck that. Also we got the Veggie Hot Dogs. It's about $4 each. The best part of a hot dog is the toppings. Even so, the fake sausage was good enough. There's also other menu items like gyros for about $5 or so if instead looking for Greek stuff. For sure the hot dogs are the main things to get here. Bartender makes the worst drinks, worst service. 3 groups of people got yelled at by the bartender because "they talked too loud" Get your hot dog and enjoy, sorry if you get yelled at for enjoying the conversation with your friends. In response to the owner - The FaceTime call wasn't that loud at all, the two people at the bar even apologized to us when they were walking out of the bar at the same time as us, saying we weren't bothering them and not sure why the bartender snapped at us. I had the cheese fries and had giardiniera added in because my friend recommended it and it was good! The gyro was STUFFED! definitely got my money's worth. I have eaten here for over 25 years up until today. I ordered 2 dogs and they were not Vienna dogs. The skin was so tough I had trouble eating them. I actually threw the second one out. I really wanted a Chicago style hot dog before I left and after having had a hot dog that came with cucumber, CUCUMBER. I figured CSD would be a little more authentic...it was ok-they didn't put it on a poppy seed bun, which is ok but there was also no celery salt which is a small detail that makes a huge difference. If that was just my only visit this time it would be a lower rating but I ended up coming here twice during a 3 day visit (don't judge.) My 2nd visit was after having had a few late night drinks with a friend and we were in need of food because we were hungry. This time I wanted to get an Italian beef sandwich and this time they hit the mark a little better. The beef was incredibly juicy with the giardiniera being spicy enough.
