I am a frequent customer at this Smart & Final, and I am shocked that manager Luis is allowed to continue in this role. He is consistently unprofessional and creates a hostile environment for both employees and customers. I have personally witnessed him ridicule and yell at his employees in the middle of the store, in front of customers, which is completely unacceptable. On top of that, when the lines are backed up and customers are waiting, he just stands there watching instead of stepping in to help. This is not what I expect from a store manager or a representative of Smart & Final. If this is the type of leadership the company condones, it reflects very poorly on the brand. A grocery chain where people like me find great savings on groceries, fresh meat, produce, supplies, frozen food, deli and dairy. They do have a delivery service but I still prefer to go. I can pick and choose what I want and can tell if it's fresh or not. For all those times that I have been to, I have not encountered any issues. Shelves are fully stocked, clutter free and I always find what I came for. Employees are always on site, accommodating and greets you. Parking: Plenty of parking at this location, like any other Samrt & Final, this is located within a plaza. Even during a busy hour, you'll still be able to find a parking spot. I grocery shopped in the morning and afternoon and have not had an issue finding parking. There are rarely any shaded parking if your looking for that, just fyi. Cleanliness: I have never had an issue with the stores Cleanliness. Each visit, the aisles are clean, items shelved away properly, and produced staked to the delight of the customers. Employees: When asking questions, I haven't had any issues stopping a worker and asking for assistence (i.e. item location). When checking out, each cashier have been very friendly and efficient. Items: Smart & Final have their own brand "First Street" of items. For a very good reduced price compared to other major brands. Anywhere from coffee creamer, to bread, from chips, to water. I haven't had any issues with their brand of produces. Items needed now: They sale hand sanitizers and face masks. You can find these items near the cash registers. They have plenty of soap for dishes, hand wash, and laundry detergent as well. Recommendation: Definitely, especially when you see a LONG line at trader Joes next door. read more

I would say if anything, this smart and final is a pretty decent one as it's not always very busy but they're stocked pretty well as well. I would say it's a clean store and the people can be helpful which is great. They are also usually pretty stocked up so I don't see too many things ever really out of stock here so I would say they're worth checking out read more

Just came home from S &F Chatsworth. Purchased two bottles of zero powerade for .89 each. The cashier rang them up for 1.19. I told her they were .89 She has me go and take a picture of sign. She had to call a manager to correct register. Nancy the manager did not believe and had to go look herself. There was a line of customers who I kept apologizing to. I said to cashier just forget and I won't buy. Nancy finally returns and says "oh she's right". No apologies for not believing me or to the customers. I told her I was insulted and humiliated and she walked away. I am a regular shopper at S&F Chatsworth and will no longer be shopping at S&F nor will my friends and co workers. Need Costco sized items without the membership? Then hit up Smart & Final! They've got a decent selection of just about whatever you need for the house, or in our usual case, parties. Staff is always friendly, but it seems like the lines are always slow moving. Maybe that's because for the most part they only have one open at a time. There are definitely times when they could use a 2nd one open but just refuse to. Parking for this location is the biggest downside. It shares a lot with a Trader Joe's and other popular businesses. Throw in narrow spots and bad parking jobs and it's a recipe for a disaster. I do my best to try and hit this location up on off hours or during the day on weekdays whenever possible to avoid any frustrations. I suggest you do the same. read more

Five stars for such a low price on meat. First time I got a huge chunk of boneless pork cushion meat which I slow roasted for few hours. I visited this store on 7/29 in the morning to make a purchase. The cashier didn't even greet or thank me. This happens as a result of an I don't care attitude, poor management, no training, no follow-up or no supervision of team members. I can't figure this store out. I end up leaving every time. The produce area smells at all the Smart & Finals. I stopped in to see if they had anything I could use for a large meeting I am having. There was produce that had gone rotten. Everything is sold in too huge a size. They're advertising is buy at club prices without joining a membership . At least Costco you can break down the sizes. This is a store I have frequented for the past 4 years. Many times I have told myself, I'm never coming back. The folks who work there are Not SMART. The little things add up over time. No one there remembers myself or husband or the fact that we spend 800 to a thousand dollars a month there. The hospital I work for give us nurses a check from Butterball for a Turkey around the holidays. Its symbolic. It says right on the check you can use it for ANY groceries. It isn't made out to me. The store is instructed to fill their name in and treat it like cash. The clerk and manager did not have a clue as to how to follow the simple directions on the face of the check. They filled in their store name, asked for my ID, then told me it could only be used for a Turkey! I had to help them slowly read the "instructions for grocer" printed on the front. Next, they assured me they could not give change back so I needed to buy something totalling more tha n the 15 dollar check! Otherwise, they could give the check back to me and I could pay cash. THEY ALREADY MADE THE CHECK OUT TO THEIR STORE-WHAT COULD I DO WITH IT????? I just needed one ingredient because I was cooking. So I told them they could keep the change, literally a few dollars. This place is really a cook/baker's paradise. Smaller scale and larger selection than Costco. I wouldn't buy produce or their prepared foods, but it is my go-to location for dry ingredients - especially if I am making something in large quantities. They also have a nice selection of supplies - canning jars, cake decorating tools, pots & pans, food packaging items (bags, boxes, paper), chafing dishes, serving platters, party supplies (plates, utensils, napkins, tablecloths, cups). Great place for party supplies!! I seriously went around town in search for flos sugar for the cotton candy machine and finally made my final stop here, and there it is.. Cherry berry flavor for $6, kool huh? , and the cone to hold it together. I picked up 4 stainless steel chafer ($29.99 each) coolest and the fuels for $12.95 for a pack of 12 (it burns for 2hrs). Went over to the fruit dept., I got a small seedless watermelon $4.95 - come to find out there were plenty of seeds inside (not the bestest), A lemon or lime is .49 ea., a container of grapes $1.99, strawberries $8.99, overall I thought this dept is pretty pricy for its quality. Not the best Smart & Final that I've been too. Not sure why people are saying the parking lot is great. It's shared with Trader Joe's so you have a ton of people there. Almost every spot is for compact cars as well. I usually come here if Trader Joe doesn't have some of the crap I'm looking for. Today for instance I got I Can't Believe it's not Butter, blueberries (not in season at Trader Joe's), and something else. Prices generally are good if items are on sale. Otherwise better off buying generic at Von's. I'm normally too lazy to the go to Von's even though it's next door so I just go to Smart and Final. I should have taken a picture of this. Today the raspberries were on sale for like $1.60 (I think the ones double the size are $7.00 right now at Costco). I go to look at them and they all had mold on them. Whoever works in produce should really look at the inventory. I agree with Kait's review that it's basically on par with Costco in that you can buy in bulk but not as large as a bulk. read more

A huge fan of Smart and Final. This is one of those big chain groceries. Great place to get your groceries. If you live in the area, you'll get in the papers any new updates to their prices or any new promotions. prices change every couple weeks. You can go onto the website to look up any updates if you don't get mail. I personally come here often to buy fruit cuz I feel like their fruit/veggies are most worth it here compared to some other groceries. But it really comes down to get the paper and comparing prices between all the other groceries. The staff all wear masks. If you're an elderly/immunocompromised, you can ask a staff to help you get your groceries while you stay in your car. You can also have them come out and load the groceries into your car if you have weakened muscles. Overall, great friendly environment. They also didn't have a lot of variety when it came to certain products. Their registers are a joke.
