I am fuming! Do not use this company! I placed a call to my home warranty regarding my dryer. There had been 2 power outages, 2 power surges while I was running my machine. Afterward, my machine powered on but the start button only clicked, did not engage. While I waited for the assigned company, SmartChoice, to contact me, I had GE service come out and look at the machine. GE provided an estimate for a new control panel and door switch. Because it would take an extra week to wait for the parts and would cost $673, I has SmartChoice come out. I told the technician about the GE service estimate. Max, the technician, proceeded to tell me, before he even looked at the machine, that it most likely was not the control panel but the belt. He proceed to tear apart the machine, roughly. I left the laundry room and returned in a bit. Max indicated that GE had destroyed the inside of the machine and that it would not be covered by my warranty. It told him that GE did not open up the machine, just ran diagnostics, and then Max said that someone had serviced the machine and that there were a lot of loose wires, damage, etc and that the belt needed to be replaced. He said that the belt that was on the machine was not a GE belt and that is how he knew someone else had worked on the machine. I asked if Max had a GE belt on his truck and he said he didn't think so, but he would might have something that would work. I left the room to get my home warranty company on the phone because I could see how this was going to go down, not in my favor!. Max went to his truck and I went back to the laundry room about 5 minutes later. Max said he did not have a GE belt, but he would see if the one he had would work. Well, it didn't apparently because Max told me the machine would not work and that he would write up his report and send it in. After he left, I went to my laundry room and saw that he left an exposed, disconnected wire hanging out the front of the machine, there was an extra screw on the floor and a broken wire connection tab on the floor. He also left the floor a mess with lint, etc and a broker belt on top of the machine. Because I now had an inoperable machine that not even the GE service person could fix with the parts needed per their estimate, I ended up buying a new machine. I emailed SmartChoice appliance within 30 minutes of the Service Tech leaving, and I never received a response. Ask yourself, why would GE Service, (the machine was GE), provide an estimate and order parts to repair the machine, if the parts were not broken, and replacing the parts would not fix the machine? Why would Smartchoice think that GE was wrong? GE didn't tear the machine apart like Smartchoice did, but ran diagnostics. It is pretty obvious to me that the power outages and surges ruined the control panel, since the machine was running when the outage occurred. read more

We had an issue with our refrigerator making noise and the tech (very nice guy) came out the first time and removed ice from the fan and that seemed to help. Then the ice maker was not making ice like it did so he came out and checked and didn't see an issue. He said we would replace the ice maker if it happened again. Once again there was the noise so I opened it up and found ice UNDER the fan that was completely covering up the defroster which was the issue. I asked for a refund of the diagnostic fee and still waiting for the refund. Turns out it was out of Freon and the valve and receiver needed replacing as well as the fan. It was not even the ice maker to begin with. read more

We had a rip in our boot of our washing machine and it started leaking water. We called our First American Insurance to use your homeowners insurance to fix it. The first company came by and the tech said the new boot would take like 1-2 weeks to arrive. After he left the next day that same company said they wouldn't fix it because it didn't seem like normal wear and tear. First American contacted us a few days later and said they have another company that they could send by and they sent a tech by the name of Bogdan from SmartChoice Appliance. The guy was very polite and said he could write up the report that same day and the insurance company would accept it and they would order the part the next day. He said the boot would come most likely in a few days and then they could schedule an appointment to do the repair in about a week. Hello, I am not sure why you can't locate it. I spoke to a supervisor and he said he would "talk" to the technician. He also offered a credit toward a future servicing of an appliance. I told him how I didn't feel comfortable because my appliance wasn't fixed and your technician told me to order an unnecessary expensive part and now I can't get a refund on that part. I called smart choice to schedule a washer and dryer general maintenance (nothing is broken) appointment. They quoted $320 for both and were available the next day and had a window between 4 and 7pm. Viktor was the technician for my job and he updated me regularly about arrival time. They have a link that you can follow where and when your tech is arriving. He was clean and respectful of my property including wearing shoe covers. He ran diagnostics on both machines and cleaned them thoroughly. Basically tore apart the dryer to clean the insides and provided me a photo of the work done. He answered any and all questions that i had - very kind, polite, and easy to talk to.
