A friend mentioned that this spot was just down the street so we decided to stop in before heading home. My boyfriend ordered the troublemaker (based on my friend's suggestion) & I ordered the thunderbird. We tried each other's sandwiches and we both preferred our own respective sandwiches. If you like medium spicy I'd suggest getting the troublemaker. I'm quite the pansy myself, so I opt out of a burning mouth. I would definitely bring visitors to try it out I'd give it a 4.5 so rounding up this place gets a 5 star rating. A couple of notes though, the parking when we went wasn't the easiest. It's street parking and it took us a good 10-15 minutes to find a spot. I'd recommend walking with a friend bc the area is pretty dark at night. read more

The best part is you can feel the love whether you're a meat eater or a veg because all sandwiches can be ordered with field roast- brillliant! We are regulars at Smarty Pants and always enjoy something from the delicious brunch selection. We went in last Sunday and it was packed. We were a little concerned that it might take a while to get our order, but Josh, Skye and Patty were all phenomenal. They were amazingly quick and as always, our food was delicious. If you go in and it is packed, have no fear as they will make magic happen and make every single table feel as if they are the only ones in the restaurant. I've never had a meal here that wasn't great. My server has always been a little slow to bring things out, but the great atmosphere and his overall friendliness always made up for it. Getting around to writing about or regular joints. We have along association with Smartypants. It is very comfortable for us for beers and food. Unassuming with a fun vibe. Have many memories and met some really cool folks including servers. sigh, we miss some of the originals. We also bring friends and relatives. Mostly sandwiches but we sometimes hit their frito pie or quesadilla or chicken salad. Breakfast has also been good. I like their style. After long last, I'm writing my first Smarty Pants review. I've hit up the happy hour and Saturday breakfast countless times, but was waiting until I had enough visits to give a weighted review. Formula- edgy location, distinct building, original pub fare, good local and interesting micro beer and a THEME- motorcycle racing! Food- the sandwiches are total comfort; chicken, pork, tuna, veggie. Sides you can trust; tomato soup, potato salad, green salad. Nothing that is going to blow your mind with experimental food, but what you want for your go-to satisfaction (Elysian---take note). Sandwiches with cute names- Troublemaker, Miss Piggy, Chickenhawk. This is the kind of food I WANT to have with my beer. Layout- you are literally under an airport flight path 1 block from Boeing Field (hey, I'm right at home), and under the I-5 Michigan St. Exit and literally across the tracks from the railway so.......... noise is not a problem. The restaurant has a large outdoor patio with a sweet gas fire pit. Inside is a classic brick shotgun-shack style restaurant with a bar and about 10 tables. Service- I have been back-and-forth and back again. I had great service which kept me coming back. Then about a year ago the good servers were gone and a bunch of new (cute) but awful servers were here. I stayed away as long as possible but came back and now the staff has turned over and I am in love again. The Pixies Pandora station was kicking, the micro was flowing and I am again a fan. read more

Great Sandwiches! and I love the witty names. This is a great place that makes me feel good as soon as I enter. No pretentious trendy crap. Just a semi-industrial feel and good food. The staff were friendly and prompt. The prices are in line. and the selection is great. I heard the corned beef hash is good. this I gotta try! Smarty Pants has a nice bar ambience and has really good beer prices (tap beers under $5) Food is just ok. We had the troublemaker and the BBQ chicken sandwiches. Bread was good but the sandwiches were overly saucy and super messy to eat. I'd recommend this place if you're looking for a well priced beer but not awesome food. PS skip the coleslaw. Smarty Pants is the bomb dizzle when it comes to hearty, and filling sandwiches. I really enjoy their BBQ pork sandwich, because they do it right by topping it off with coleslaw. They also have a Meatloaf Sandwich on special every now and then, that will rock your socks off! I was also extremely tickled to see that they offer the childhood favorite, Frito Pie! Crunchy Frito corn chips smothered in meaty, chunky chili, cheese, jalapeno peppers, and cool comforting sour cream. Mmmmmmmmmm. It is that damn good. Last Saturday I was hunkering for a BLT. So I searched Yelp, of course! It came back with a few options, but a good BLT in Georgetown, well how could that not peak your interest? We walked in and were immediately greeted by the server outside, and told to sit "where ever we would like". She came over told her we were on a BLT mission and she assured us we were in the right spot. She was right! She offered the usual choice of sides; Fries, chips coleslaw or potato salad. As a potato salad purist I asked if it was homemade, it was., and it was perfect! Good old fashioned American potato salad, that would be with dill, not sweet pickles and very little mustard. The BLT was traditional on toasted white bread, thick bacon, fresh tomato, and crisp cool, iceberg lettuce. No fancy pants field greens or leaf lettuce. The rest of the sandwich menu looked just as appetizing and we will be going back toot-sweet to try them all out. Oh, and the had PBR on tap. $4 bucks a pitcher, nice and simple. read more

I'm writing mostly to give props to our server, Amy. We went in at the height of the busy time during Artopia/Georgetown Music Festival. We managed to find a couple of seats and worried that we were never going to get service - the place was packed. Amy came over and said that she was very busy and that she would be right back. It was obvious that she was herding cats, but she was very pleasant and polite, without any of the attitude I've come to expect in popular eateries... She eventually took our orders, and in a very short time considering how busy they were, our sandwiches appeared. We both had the Chickenhawk, my fiance's was the veggie version, mine was the full-meat version. Great BBQ sauce, good chicked, fresh bread. Doesn't get much better on a summer Saturday afternoon in Seattle. The fiance's had a minor complaint that she couldn't really taste the vegetarian field roast, but otherwise, it was tasty, tasty, tasty. And the potato salad was rock solid... I am becoming a regular at this place and not just for lunch. On the weekends they are open for breakfeast/brunch (A late breakfeast is not a brunch, but that is a whole other arguement). The breakfeasts are as good as the sandwhiches, the service is always great. I am really fond of the Throublemaker pileup. The blue collar diner is now dead but Smarty Pants Lives and Food and Service was better they any of dives ever-were. Since I been trying to eat healthy this year. I give this place 3.5 stars! We came by here per a friend's recommendation. We didn't have trouble finding parking on the streets. We did notice that there is a comic book around the corner which which we visited after lunch! To start off, we ordered the hummus plate. I really liked the topping that they offered on the hummus. If I remember them correctly, it was onions, and a few other stuff that I can't remember. I do remember saying that I wished I thought of it when serving hummus. Hmm..I will think on that... I wish they provided more topping on the hummus. We ordered the sandwiches. I ordered the troublemaker sandwich with potato salad. I couldn't finish my sandwich- it was kinda big. This is a biker bar/sub shop. It's not really like harley bikers though, more sport bikers. Really, people who came on a motorcycle are probably in the minority. They always have some bike race on and tons of cycle paraphernalia all over the walls. Great sub style sandwiches. The specials have always been good. Check out their happy hour. It's legit and goes until 7pm. They don't stay open super late like a typical bar so keep that in mind. There is a pretty great deck to enjoy during the summer time. read more

I went here for lunch the other day and fell in love with smarty pants. We had the grilled cheese which was good, but even better was the Troublemaker (minus the bacon)...it was AWESOME! The names on the menu are so creative and you just want to order them all, so you can say the names outloud...seriously...who wants to order a Ms. Piggy or a Firecracker for lunch..I DO I DO....but on a serious note...the food was awesome and so was the potato salad. There's just something about the soul of this place and knowing you're eating in an former repair shop with remnants all over the walls to keep your ADD in check. Totally my favorite place I went to while visiting Seattle. The decor is definitely unique & the openness to the outside patio is awesome on a sunny day (though the patio was completely full so we had to eat inside). The waitstaff wasn't as attentive as I would have liked (not a big fan of the empty beer glass), but they were friendly & had some nice ink. =) I had their egg salad sandwich & let me tell you, it is like no egg salad I had ever had before. I have no idea what was in there (chili powder perhaps?), but it was fabulous. The salsa & chips were a nice addition as well -- I think they make their own salsa. Very very dissapointed with Smarty Pants... I came in one night with a group of people who were usuals who kept ranting about how great Smarty Pants was but boy was i dissapointed. So i ordered the bbq chiken sandwich with NO BACON, after repeating it about 3 times i thought my server got the idea that i did not want bacon... when she came to our table she brought 2 sandwiches, one with bacon and without... so she says. It turned out that both sandwiches had bacon, reason why i was so upset was because i DO NOT eat pork! They remade my sandwich so that was cool but in the end the best thing they did to me not charge me for gratuity,,, great right! Not even! The least they could have done was put it on the house since it was there fault for messing up my order. We had a couple shots and asked for pineapple backs but we never got em even after asking for the 2 times, it wasn't even busy at the time so i dont see how you forget to grab chasers. overall food was good minus the bacon, but the service was really poor, i hope when you go u dont get the same server as we did. read more

I like sammies and the ones here are pretty good. The girlfriend and I had the pit boss and ms piggy. We had a side of each. The pit boss was pretty good. Melted cheese bacon and ham with a hint of tang from the pepper-chine. Themselves piggy was alright, the pork was tasty but the BBQ sauce they use was a little too sour for my tasting. The bread for these sandwiches are delicious. For the sides, we got slaw and potato salad. The potato salad was not the most amazing I have had but it was pretty good.
