I've wanted to try Smashburger for a while, as I've heard and read good reviews about the chain. So when I saw this location I really wanted to try it, and I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was clean, and the staff was friendly. My burger was cooked perfectly, quickly and was very tasty. I will be stopping at some of thier other locations to try more items on thier menu, and I will be back to this location when in the area. read more

Me and my family have eaten there a few times. The last two times me and my daughter got sick. The lettuce and tomato's tasted soggy and had a flavor like they were days old and left out. There are some very nice reviews of Smashburger here. Alas, that was not my experience. Maybe I hit 'em on a bad day. I was in there very near noontime, and there was only one other table with patrons seated for lunch. Perhaps that could have, should have, been my first clue. It is one of those places wherein the customer must be trained. There is a certain way to order and unless you read the instructions on the wall on your way to place your order, "Step 1, Step 2" and so on, you won't know what the heck to do when you get to the counter. Or, maybe I am just stupid; it took me a couple of minutes to figure-out how to order and I had to be trained by the nice young woman behind the counter. So, I finally ordered a "CYO" burger, as in "Create Your Own," which gives the customer an array of choices. These choices include five different choices of a bun (Egg, Multi-Grain, Gluten-Free, Chipotle, or a "Lettuce Bun" ... lettuce bun?), fourteen different choices of "toppings" (Smash sauce, ketchup, lettuce, pickles BBQ sauce, cucumbers, red onion, Ranch sauce, yellow mustard, grilled onions, tomato, and spicy chipotle mayo), six different cheese choices (aged Swiss, blue cheese, goat, pepper jack, sharp cheddar, or American), and "Add-ons" (smoked bacon, sautéed mushrooms, sliced avocado, guacamole or a fried egg ... a fried egg?). I was overwhelmed. It is a good thing there was not a long line behind me, because it would have taken me a full ten minutes in order to make all of those decisions. "Do fries come with that?" I asked. "Well, if you get a meal and a drink," I think was the reply. Jeez! I was hungry and was trying to keep this simple, so, from my point-of-view, I simply ordered a cheeseburger, fries, and a bottled root beer and here is how it got rung up: "CYO Regular Smash" ... $4.79 "Swiss" ........................$0.79 "With Regular Fry" ......... $2.19 "Root Beer" ...................$2.29 "Subtotal" .....................$9.97 With tax, it came to $10.57 and, no matter how you cut it, we're still talking over ten bucks for a burger, fries and a drink. The presentation is somewhat different, with a stainless steel "basket", and a paper inserts, kinda cool, actually. Okay, fine, I suppose I'd happily pay ten bucks for an American meal, which covers all the Basic American food groups ... meat with fat, cheese with fat, cooking oil, carbohydrates, and sugars, but here is where the whole thing began to break down: At first glance, the burger appeared to be quite large. Then, upon closer inspection, I have reason to believe that the bun was smaller than the average American burger consumer might have come to expect in this competitive marketplace. The burger appears to have overwhelmed the bun, hanging over the sides. I think it is an optical illusion, but I am not sure. (Truth be told, the only way I could confirm this would be to return with a tape measure and take a measurement of the bun, which I am unlikely to do.) Then, upon the first bite, it was clear that the burger meat was not fresh, and I don't care how many times the word "fresh" is emblazoned on the walls; that burger meat would have been inedible in another twelve hours and sent to a rendering plant for inclusion in your cat's favorite fancy canned delight. Furthermore, what is it with American chain burger joints and their fries? Are they all, every last one of 'em, the frozen Simplot russet potatoes? Let's face it, America, they are not that good. They may look good when served but when consumed they are dry, mealy, and not very tasty. (There is another burger chain, which makes fresh-cut fries on location. You burger aficionados know the "ins and outs" of that, right?) I had to ask for silverware and was given a stainless steel knife and fork, wrapped in a paper napkin. When I unveiled the knife, albeit manufactured from stainless steel, it was stained with that residue that only a poor dishwashing job can produce. Fortunately, said residue is easily removed with a little spittle and a few wipes of the paper napkin supplied, which I did, rather than complain. The printed receipt comes with a coupon: "$2.00 Off Your Next Purchase of $12.00 or More," which expires in two weeks. I'm not quite certain this is the deal of the century, but, I may use it ... just so I can go back in and measure that darned bun. read more

I'm a big burger lover and very picky about quality and quantity. Smashburger is one of the better places to get a food chain burger. On the other hand, I have found some inconsistencies between the restaurants which is common with food chains. My favorite is the Smash Fries which are a step up from most. We were excited to see a Smashburger in Namba, but quickly felt like we were a burden to the staff. They forgot some of our food, when we showed the receipt they were rude about it. Two stars for the food always being good but man after today's visit. I don't understand how a family of 4 or 5 order after me and keep in mind I ordered two sandwiches. One chicken and one beef. After the family of 4-5 a gentleman orders he's order and believe it or not the family's order comes out first and then the guys that was after them. He also is shocked to see that he got his food before me. After seeing me sitting down as he entered the restaurant. Now my fries were already in my bag on the counter from when he started putting together my order. And he updated me that we were waiting one one thing for my order to be complete. Now I didn't say anything but it was a good 20min or longer so I was just patient and by the time I get my food I asked the "manager on duty" if my fries were going to be cold. Because he put them in the bag way early. He says " no I had them under the heating area" I touched them and they were cold to the touch now I had my father in law waiting or else I would of asked for another one because I payed for hot fries not cold ones that by the time I get home they will be cold. This is the first time I get helped by this guy and man service was not good. He also looked like he didn't want to be there. I'm sorry but customer service is key. To getting your customers to return I will have to drive to a different location from now on. Even tho this was my mother in laws favorite place. The cashier (young lady) was patient with us as we made our orders. Our food came out quick and was brought out by a very nice gentlemen with a beard. The gentlemen came around when we were done and picked up our trays. I noticed him walking around and asking other guests if they needed anything and fetching things for them. I have been here before and liked my mushroom burger. I thought I would try the Avacado black bean burger. I like vegetarian food and eat it frequently. The burger came with one piece of Avocado and two very small tomatoes. I was very disappointed with the burger and once I tried it, I was equally dissatisfied. The burger was warm mush. I asked the girl who brought the food over if the burger was cooked correctly, she said it was. I got in line to purchase another burger but after waiting a few minuets decided I would not like to wait. There were several people in line and the line was not moving fast. I actually got up & said I want my order from the window before it gets cold! I watched three door dash drivers come in and get there orders. I never leave bad reviews, until now. I stopped in and there were only a couple customers. While taking my order the man at the counter asked for the name for the ticket, after which he made a joke about my name. I rolled my eyes, as this happens sometimes. As I was waiting for my order I noticed the couple that was there before me being served and did not think anything of it until a couple minutes later when the lady stood up and returned her plate to the server, telling them it was not her order. The server then walked it over to me and asked if I had ordered it. I said yes. She then asked if it was for there or to go, it was to go. She then took it to the counter and told them it should have been to go. There were 3 people in the cooking area, none had hair nets or gloves on. They put my burger in a box and sat it back on top, then all 3 left the kitchen area. The bagger then handed me the box, looked at my receipt then came back with another bag with my feries and said thanks. This is why you don't tip before you finish your meal/transaction. The service was terrible bordering on rude and I lost count of the food safety issues....I will not be back. read more

Shame on you Smashburger for making us feel shamed for coming in 5 minutes before closing to buy a hamburger. I had just picked up my son from the airport and he was starving after a 6-hour flight from Florida where he had spent a month in disaster relief after Hurricane Ian. We did not expect special treatment, just a hamburger, because your sign still said you were "Open". Of all the places he could have gone, he wanted to go to Smashburger which makes his favorite burgers. I live in Caldwell and knew there was a Smashburger on Nampa-Caldwell Blvd so I drove as fast as I could to get there before they closed. We came in and apologized for being those people who come in right before closing to order food. The cashier was nice and said it was fine. But then the cooks in the back yelled that they just cleaned the grill and now they were going to have to start it up again. We told them we were sorry to bother them and they let us leave. We went to Dairy Queen down the road. My gosh, he just wanted a hamburger. DQ also told us it was one minute before closing but "we are happy to make you whatever you want." We explained we had both worked in food service and understood how annoying it is when those last-minute customers come in, but sometimes that's just how it is. A good place keeps their grills on until the sign says "Closed", then you get your 30-45 minutes of clean time. I also let DP know how we were just treated after a long flight, and just wanted a good burger. Neither of us will ever go to this Smashburger again, and I will tell others to make sure they do not dare go close to closing time. Dairy Queen, however, sings our praises. read more

Smash Burger has been my favorite! Used to be a treat when out of town. I have to say I have been very disappointed in the Nampa Smashburger location. The last three times I have been there have been with clients the first time took a very long time to receive our meals. The second time there were four four Burgers ordered and one forgotten. Today I tried my luck again as I was really craving it. There were only two other people seated inside. I ordered a Bronco burger which comes with blue cheese and bacon it is the Berger described on the wall as you enter. After placing my order and bringing my food out the employee went back into the kitchen and was standing where I could see through the window that he was visiting with the other people back there. I waved tried to get his attention to no avail. Ended up eating half my burger throwing the rest away more than anything because by that time I was disappointed and just done with the whole experience. Finally the young man walked out to see if a new customer had come in, I was able to get his attention where I told him my bacon burger came without bacon? He apologized and returned to the kitchen to continue visiting with his co-workers. If I'm being honest it will probably be awhile before or if I return. First time here. I like the many options of meat and the variety of toppings and buns. Fries tots and onion haystacks were all options too. The spinach goat cheese and cucumber burger (I chose grilled chicken) was pretty tasty. It is a bit pricey but for the quality, not totally out of line. I never knew what Smashburger was until I stopped at the one in Meridian one fateful day about a year ago. Since then, when I feel like blowing my entire calorie count for the day, I will stop in and have a truffle mushroom burger and some smash fries. Literally, it is my entire calorie count for the day - but it so sooooo delicious. Since then I have been to the Franklin (Boise) location and back to the Meridian location. I love the new Nampa location (right next door to Chipotle) because it's spacious, has great customer services, and is much closer to home. A regular truffle mushroom Swiss burger is 6.39 which isn't the cost of a McDonald's burger and not the cost of a Red Robin burger - it's somewhere in between and (I think) has a taste comparable to a gourmet burger joint's quality. I also love their salads (there a several to chose from but I especially love the cucumber, spinach and goat cheese) not only for the their fresh taste but also because they come in a huge bowl that looks like it should have pho in it. They have both potato and sweet potato fries, regular or "smash" fries (their signature fries with rosemary, olive oil and garlic). They also have outrageously delicious shakes (try the huckleberry). I'm taking one star away for a very nit picky thing: I would love some garlic aioli sauce to go with my smash fries but they don't make it or have it. Otherwise, Smashburger is one of my favorite guilty pleasures! read more

Burger - yes. Tasted excellent. Service - absolutely never again. We met some friends that were passing through from out of town for a quick bite. There was a large family in front of us... probably 7 people. I understand that takes time. Total people in line including us was at most 14 people. We spent at least 25 min in line. The couple we were with had their order taken. They went and sat down. They received their food before we were even ACKNOWLEDGED to have our order taken. I was BAFFLED. Trying to be polite, they waited for us to get our food before eating. Naturally, theirs was cold by the time our entire group (of 4) had food. Keep in mind... we arrived together and simply ordered separately because each couple paid its own bill. So disappointed. They were so excited to try the place because they don't have one where they are from. It was such an incredible let down that was 100% the result of bad service.
