Smile To Go is a pricey eatery located in Gramercy. This is the sister restaurant to the one in SoHo which I used to frequent several times a week notably for their excellent chocolate chip cookies. I came here to have a bite of lunch. The sandwich had an unusual cheese and greens. Filling but not tasty. I also took a blueberry muffin which was studded with many berries and tasted wholesome. I took half home. There is plenty of seating and few customers. It's open early for breakfast. The restroom is on the second floor as it's part of the hotel. Before I left, I saw some four pastries lying on a plate. I asked Alia if they sold them half price as this place closes at 4 pm. She sold me what turned out to be a very tasty sticky bun for $2 cash. read more

Came to pick up a Too Good To Go order and the spot wasn't packed. There was ample seating and the cafe is connected to the Freehand NY hotel. I got the Market Plate, which allows us to pick 3 market sides available. Per the staff's rec, I chose the Kale Salad, the Couscous, and Sweet Potatoes with Beets. The food tasted fine/ok. The couscous was pretty good and had a fresh taste - would recommend! Aside from the Sides I chose, they had Carrots and Quinoa as other options. Super friendly staff and the business is clean and comfortable. For restrooms, you'll be directed to the ones in the Freehand hotel on the 2nd fl. They're very clean and there's a cozy seating area upstairs as well. read more

This sandwich was mediocre, it was half of a rotisserie chicken salad sandwich. It came out to be $6. It wasn't worth it because it was so small. The workers are really friendly and the service is fast. There's a lot of seating which was nice, it's definitely a place to unwind and get a quick bite. read more

This was attached to our hotel so we stopped in one morning on our way out. There were so many delicious photos on Yelp. The menu that day only had oatmeal or a breakfast sandwich available. We had breakfast sandwiches which were good but not what you come to NY for. It comes on an English muffin but you can specifically request a bagel. A lot of things I wanted to try from the sandwich menu was unavailable, until I settled for a Manouri Cheese & Pear Sandwich, which was light and filling. On another occasion, I found that STG is on the Ritual app so I decided to get a Rotisserie Chicken Salad Sandwich. It was light and filling as well, but the ciabatta was tough to chew. That said, the food quality is up to par -- I looove all their market sides, as well as the rice krispie, the bone broth, and the pear/manouri cheese sandwich (the sandwiches, however, I do agree are overpriced). I don't even think it's really fair to compare Smile to Go to Dig Inn -- Smile has more inventive flavors, updates their menu more often, and I feel also gives larger servings of veggies. I went with the rotisserie chicken with one side, and while at $15 it was pretty pricey for lunch, the portion was HUGE. I'm talking a half chicken, nicely roasted, with an enormous pile of their roasted eggplant. The ordering was a little confusing because I asked the lady if I could just get the chicken with one side, and she said yes, but she really just meant that they would double the portion of my one selection, and still charge me for the same amount as if I ordered two. So not exactly what I was going for, but it was a tasty lunch and easily enough for two light eaters. They also have sandwich selections (I like that you can order a 1/2 size), as well as little snacks and baked goods that use unique ingredients... I know I'll have a hard time resisting those in the future. The line moves quickly and there's some seats if you want to stay for your meal, though it seems like most people take it to go. We came here just to get a quick bite because we hadn't eaten all day and this place looked really cute with its outdoor seating. We tried ordering the lamb meatballs but they didn't have it unfortunately, so we decided to order the rotisserie chicken with the watermelon salad and the basil pesto pasta. It was pretty tasty, the chicken was a little under seasoned for my taste, but still a good meal. The aesthetic was really top notch though and the service was nice and the gentleman behind the counter was very informative. I love this gem in the place that I stay. They have friendly staff, and endless supply of oat milk and quirky drinks like turmeric lattes and their food menu is expansive for breakfast and lunch. I had eaten here many times before today. The food was good, but very pricey, even for the neighborhood. The employees weren't particularly friendly, just performed their job perfunctorily. I was walking nearby on my lunch break. I was deciding between here and Black Star and decided to come here. I ordered an iced coffee with cream. The barista literally filled a cup with cream. Then he was told by the cashier that it was supposed to be an iced coffee WITH cream. I mean, I've never worked as a barista but I don't know how anyone can make this mistake. Instead of dumping it out and starting over, the barista literally just adds drops of coffee into the cup and hands it to me. The drink is literally white! I give it back and say, "That's too much cream". He takes it back and adds two more drops of coffee and hands it to me. I tell him that it's still unacceptable. He then rolls his eyes! The cashier finally tells him he has to actually remake the coffee. He does. Then after he finally hands it back, I told him I saw him roll his eyes. No apology, just an "Oh yeah?" And then he walks away. No apology from any staff on his behalf either. I wrote an email, and no one has responded. Highly disappointed and unacceptable! read more

I tried this place for the first time today through MealPal and I love it! It reminds me of Dig Inn, honestly. My meal was the butternut squash fusilli, kale, and roasted carrots and everything is delicious. The fusilli is lacking a bit of flavor but since the other 2 sides are so flavorful, it works, I wish the kale was chopped more (huge pieces!) but it's not that big a deal. I will definitely be back.
