This will be my shortest review to date, but this Ralphs location has become my favorite Ralphs in…read morethe Valley for many reasons, especially today. I called the Seafood Department to place an order for some fried fish. I had called last Friday around 7:30 p.m. to order fish, but it was too late. Anyway, Adrian (sorry if I misspelled your name, sir) answered the phone and was very polite and courteous while taking my order. Now, this is a "you buy, we fry" service inside a grocery store, so I wasn't quite sure if I could call in an order. But after my last visit, where I placed an order and walked around the store while the fish was frying, I honestly didn't see why they wouldn't allow it. I originally wanted catfish fillets, but they were out. Adrian offered catfish nuggets as a substitute, but I passed. I then asked for red snapper or rockfish, but they had neither. I moved on to cod, but at $19.99 a pound, I said, "Not today." Finally, he told me they had tilapia for $10.99 a pound, so I ordered two pounds. He asked what seasoning I wanted, and I told him I wanted to try all three -- Cajun, lemon pepper, and one other that I can't remember. He told me it would be ready in 12 minutes, and when I arrived 12 minutes later, it was ready! It was fresh, hot, and delicious. I could hardly wait to get back home and eat it all lol. I will definitely be back next weekend. Thanks again, Adrian. :-)

I've gone here 3 times a week for 30 years, experiencing more good than bad...hence it is my go-to…read morestore. There are three big ongoing problems of note. 1. Cart management has been terrible. Just one example: after 10 extra minutes of my chasing a cart down, someone dumped my items on a table when I wasn't looking and ran off with my cart. I lost another 10 minutes finding a cart but did not have to re-shop for my now one-only pickings. Even more frustrating is that many carts are disabled because the strip that locks them activates five feet inside the parking ln some places. 2. Parking has gone from bad to worse as they designate many kinds of reserved spaces. 3. Shoplifting controls have rendered large areas of the store effectively unusable. Kroger is the most controlling grocer. I just wish they took us into account beyond figuring out to charge too much for average produce. I don't need 10 isles of beverages at the expense of other variety...their club scans are not noticing there are few people in those isles.

There a Lilit Bakery Cafe that is on the right side of the store when you walk in. They had some good pastries options. The grocery store is a decent size inside and the prices are reasonable. I found the soda I wanted and also got some gum. Before checking out, I saw where they kept more beverage in a open refrigerator so I went to look at the options there. I saw a coconut water brand that I like so I got that instead of a Cherry coke. The price for the coconut bottle was way higher. After I got my coconut water I went to checkout with a cashier. This store also have self checkout too but since they were not busy inside, the cashier didn't have a line.

The produce and fruit prices here is unbeatable. They always have variety of things on sale specially their top sellers. Let's say cucumbers cost over $2.50 a pound in other markets and here it's almost always 99c a pound. Today I was surprised to see a 10 lbs bag of potatoes for $1.29 now that's crazy. Even though I don't buy non organic potatoes it's a great price for people that do. Apples 79c peaches 1.29 a pound which I stocked up on to freeze once they are ripe. I got bags of cherries for $1.29 a pound. Sweet and juicy cherries. I especially love the bulk section of dried fruits and nuts here. I always buy the dried fruits that are imported from Armenia such as sour plum, peach, apricots, pears and more. Love it They carry a wide selection of imported rice, legumes, pastas, olives etc.... Two isles of bread from pita to lavash to tortillas to ciabatta and more. The deli is amazing but I'm not crazy about the meat department. Customer service is average for a supermarket and finding parking here is always challenging. Overall a great place to shop for food specially for large families that want to save a bit of money.

Food4Less Great…read moresavings and deals that definitely impress! Needed a few things for the holidays, but also to stock up on the everyday and can I just say, F4L came through in lots of unexpected ways including in the frozen, produce and dairy sections, okkkkaaay!! The non-dairy milk was/is abundant from Almond to Coconut, Cashew to Rice, classic Soy and even Pea. Beyond grateful for all the Beyond Meat products at the BEST deal in town. Not to mention MorningStar, Impossible and everything in-between. Great snacks, juices, and so many 2 for 1 specials. We found parking right in front in their parking lot on the corner of Sherman Way/Hayvenhurst Avenue. All the staff was personable, even the security was quite the warm person during our visit. While some produce was low, we still managed to find fresh mushrooms and spinach. Shopping with my family we discovered a great bakery area as well, not mention a holiday cake for my mom, niece and nephews. I discovered cookie dough flavored Oreos and dairy free ice cream for myself. During the holidays and peak hours the parking lot is definitely still a zoo of sorts, but be patient, take your time and you'll get in and out easy. I'm not a frequenter of Food4Less locations with other reasonable places closer to me, but this is the closest location and one I'd recommend in the Lake Balboa area of L.A.'s San Fernando Valley, just off the 405 fwy passed the Van Nuys Airport. Typically open 6AM - 12AM/Midnight every day of the week with some differing/reduced hours on holidays. If you been to any Food4Less you know you self bag your groceries. Their plastic bags are super nice, clear and sturdy with the logo on each side. Good spirit selection, locked up in front. Also great wine and beer options, we definitely grabbed so things for Christmas and New Years. Hoping to return again soon for any and all occasions now that I know I've been sleeping on this grocery gem for a bit. I did frequent the Reseda and Canoga Park locations when I lived on the west side of the valley once upon a time ago, but this is definitely one of the more well put together and kept up locations.

I surprised the guy by not being guilty and was glad that Cindy from the Gelsons Staff was there as a witness but the incident has left me shaken and upset. There were also witnesses by the people who collect money for charity outside the back exit and am grateful that they were also present. Gelsons really has some employees with major personality flaws - not sure if it's a racial issue but you'll notice many others in reviews noting their profiling of racial groups - this is no longer a pleasant place to shop for me and I don't think I'll be back unless certain individuals are no longer at the store.

I will say their produce is lacking (in my opinion) but for packaged goods and basic meats, it really is a great option. Don't sleep on it. The interior is really a no thrills kind of place. You're not really coming here for the decor though. I also find the checkout process an area that could be improved upon. Often times it gets backed up with the checkout people just wanting to get you through there without any concern for the previous customer who, more often than not, is still trying to get their items bagged up. But once again, you're coming here for good prices. You need to understand that there are going to be 'sacrifices' in other areas.

Inside the store is very clean and the shelves always stocked with everything I need. I feel like the customers here are friendlier than at other stores, people don't seem rushed and they actually smile and move their carts if they think they're blocking you from something in the aisle. I do feel though that frequently the lines are long and it's a little limited on how many they have checking people out. Allot of the cocktail cabinets are locked now, so when you want to purchase something for a cocktail you have to push a button and wait for one of the limited employees to be able to come to help. However other things like Beer are not locked. I don't remember seeing anything else locked in this store. Food 4 less shares the lot with some restaurants on the other side and a gas station, be careful when leaving the lot as the traffic on parthenia is always zooming by and it's sometimes hard to get out of the lot.

My family had a really upsetting experience here…read more They were standing in line to pay when the woman who was giving out dumpling samples suddenly rushed over and started going through the items in their cart without permission. She was upset about a small sample paper cup that was sitting inside the cart and accused them of throwing it there. The strange part is that my family member was still holding their own sample cup in their hand and told her that. Instead of realizing it may have been left there by someone else, the woman aggressively snatched the cup from her hand, and continued escalating the situation. The conversation was happening in Korean, and she began insulting them, saying they didn't even speak Korean and couldn't understand what she was saying. We are Korean by the way. All of this over a tiny paper sample cup that wasn't even theirs. The cashier seemed confused and was apologetic, clearly unsure why this woman was acting this way. What was more disappointing was that when it was brought to the owner or manager's attention, the response was dismissive. My family member was asked to let it go, not the worker It's concerning that someone felt comfortable physically reaching into a customer's cart and grabbing something from their hand, and that it was brushed off instead of addressed. Unfortunately, this isn't our first negative experience here. On a previous visit, we bought multiple cabbage that turned out to be rotten inside. I called immediately, took photos, and asked if I could return it. I was told yes, but the person on the phone sounded irritated, like it was somehow my fault. There are other options, like Galleria, where the produce is consistently fresher and the management is noticeably more attentive and welcoming. Very disappointing overall.
