This should be a nice fresh ahi I purchased a day ago. Instead it's old end cut. Terrible!

I asked the guy at the fish counter for a nice filet. Gives me this crap. Gelson's used to have a great fish dept.

I'm honestly pretty darn impressed with the Poke bar which is what my review is based on since this was my very first visit to a Gelson's. Fresh enough for a market, and fresher than most poke spots in LA. Great variety of toppings, sauces, etc. Clean bar, and overall great experience

Great selection! I travelled 12 miles to get here because none of the many markets near me had the ice cream I wanted and they had it in various flavors. This Gelson market is located in an outdoor shopping center with a few other businesses and a good size parking lot. Getting here was relatively easy as it is freeway close. Parking was plentiful. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the hot food bar, full service deli and Humphrey's yogurt. Everything was tempting so I had to remain focused. As I walked through most of the store, I noticed they had a great variety of items that many other stores don't carry. The ice cream area had the best selection (suitable to my liking) that I have seen in a grocery store. Before I traveled here, I looked at their website to make sure my specific ice cream was in stock. The store was clean and organized with an old school feel. Customer service was friendly and helpful. The lines moved quickly as checkers came out when lines got to three or more people. Pricing was reasonable. I will make the trek here again without hesitation. *Dining tables for the deli, hot bar and yogurt shop were available both inside and in front of the store.

Today I was feeling a little "boujee," and in need of "mixers" for my margaritas. So, this is where I landed. Great for gourmet/specialty items that you can't find at Ralph's. Yes, I am a little frugal...(makes shopping more fun)...So, there are certain things I refuse to buy here especially if I know I can get them somewhere else for less...just sayin They upgraded the "grab n go" section which is very impressive & super clean! They even have a "Poke Bar" if that's your thang. I am more of a "soup & salad" kinda girl. And let's not forget their infamous bakery inside...Vicktor Benes! So many yummy things Plenty of parking here in the lot. Just be patient with some of the bozos that don't seem to care that you are trying to park...they seem to be too engaged on their phones while walking to care if a car is coming. Oy!

Gelson's has such good quality desserts here at their bakery section! I've tried several of their cakes before but their fruit tart is THE best fruit tart I've tasted. It comes with fresh, juicy fruits and the custard is light, not too sweet, and creamy. The crust is buttery and soft with the best crumbly texture to complement the sweet custard. I also recommend their coconut cake and strawberry shortcake as they make the cake so light, fluffy, and not too sweet! You can definitely taste the coconut, strawberries, and perfectly whipped cream!

Gelsons is an upscale local supermarket chain and this location is very nice and convenient. They have a large selection of high quality products. On some ofcl my recent visits I really liked the fresh fruits, salad bar and chocolate cherries were amazing. Service is fast and professional. I drop a star for prices, below avg. value. There is ample parking in their lot and nice outdoor tables.

This review is for the bakery, specifically the crème brûlée, which seemed very old as it was dry and chewy. However, the other cake I got was good. Great service overall.

I called the Seafood Department to place an order for some fried fish. I had called last Friday around 7:30 p.m. to order fish, but it was too late. Anyway, Adrian (sorry if I misspelled your name, sir) answered the phone and was very polite and courteous while taking my order. Now, this is a "you buy, we fry" service inside a grocery store, so I wasn't quite sure if I could call in an order. But after my last visit, where I placed an order and walked around the store while the fish was frying, I honestly didn't see why they wouldn't allow it. I originally wanted catfish fillets, but they were out. Adrian offered catfish nuggets as a substitute, but I passed. I then asked for red snapper or rockfish, but they had neither. I moved on to cod, but at $19.99 a pound, I said, "Not today." Finally, he told me they had tilapia for $10.99 a pound, so I ordered two pounds. He asked what seasoning I wanted, and I told him I wanted to try all three -- Cajun, lemon pepper, and one other that I can't remember. He told me it would be ready in 12 minutes, and when I arrived 12 minutes later, it was ready! It was fresh, hot, and delicious. I could hardly wait to get back home and eat it all lol. I will definitely be back next weekend. Thanks again, Adrian. :-)

Some of our favorites are eggplant spread, sauerkraut, frozen sweet cheese pancakes (blinchiki), pork dumplings, and many other great items. Prices are reasonable (around average), especially considering the quality and uniqueness of the products. The staff here is incredibly friendly -- honestly, one of the nicest teams I've seen in any grocery store. The atmosphere is always welcoming, clean, and easy to navigate. Another great bonus: there are actually two Trader Joe's stores right across the street from each other on Riverside Drive. This newer location is bigger, brighter, and has even more variety. I did end up getting a bottled peanut butter smoothie and that one cost $14 and it was really delicious. It tasted healthy, but it was really good. I also got some vanilla chai crisps that are in the back corner by the freezer section and those are delicious as well. Those were $6.99 for a bag and honestly, I thought that was reasonable. I did get a strawberry cream dessert. It's all natural and I think vegan or something or other. I don't know. It was really good, from the few bites I had I was going to save it and it melted in my car so hopefully it will taste good tomorrow even if it's not in the shape originally was. I also got some Keylime and Meyer lemon tarts. I tried the lemon one they should be refrigerated which I did not know until I tried to eat them. The lemon one was good. I have not tried the lime one yet. I ended up spending $44 on five items. I just went there to say I've gone there. Would I go there regularly if there was one available to me probably not but I would go occasionally. It just seems now that it's a lot of content creators or people who want to see content creators, or people we're just going there is a tourist. I can't imagine anyone doing their weekly shopping here.

THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY: Free parking for 90 minutes (good), Fantastic organic fruits /…read moreveggies and health/beauty selection are great, (good) yummy fresh juices (good), INSANE (not in a good way) store and parking design (bad). The prices are more than a bit over-the-top (ugly). Whoever designed this store deserves a smack-down. The aisles are so small you have to shimmy past people. And if you are shopping with a cart, good luck to you. Legit the most baffling design choices I've ever seen. This is an example of design that actually effects the shopping experience in a BAD WAY. Total head scratcher. Whoever designed the parking lot for the entire complex is an absolute idiot. If you need to get your cart to your car, there are several issues depending on what area you park in. First up, upon exiting the store there is a curb with no visible ramp so you have to cart-jump the curb to get down to the street level to your car. Then there is a raised planter between parking and the store so that if you are on the other side of it, you have to cart-jump the curb again. Seriously? Total failure in design on both the store and the parking. But hey - 90 minutes free parking so that's a plus. $16 for a smoothie is a little excessive for sure. Was it good? Yes. That said, while I'm happy to pay more for a great selection of organic fruits and veggies, the smoothies aren't that different from one I could make at home or get somewhere else of the same quality but for less. So if you are on a budget or just resent paying $16 for a smoothie on principal, I suggest focusing on your favorite, good stuff at Erewhon which for me is the fruits / vegetables and their outstanding selection of health / beauty products and their prepared food. from the beauty section, I got something called EVERYTHNG OIL based on the recommendation of one of the staff and it is a GREAT product -- truly my skin is transformed -- well worth the $. I also discovered a yoghurt there that I love -- Painterland Sisters -- but I now buy it at Sprouts as it is cheaper there. The prepared food selection is great! Vegan dessert selection - hallelujah! And I'm a big fan of all their vegan options actually - great stuff. I like that they give you a credit for every glass bottle you bring back -- not a small one either. $2 for each bottle! That brings down the cost of those fresh juices I love so I'll take it!! :) So spend some time finding your favorite stuff - this is a place to pick up a couple of things -- not do ALL your grocery shopping. First of all, you don't want a cart in this place -- too hard to navigate. But also, a full shop at Erewhon is 3 times what any other store would cost. But they do have some very excellent products so worth it for those things IMHO but not for EVERYTHING. Also, try to choose a time to go when it's not packed. the store is claustrophobic when full.
