Jeweler is incompetent. later learned that he had messed up my watch when he replaced the watch band.

Upon my watch battery dying a quick google search of my area lead me here. They are located on 290 in the same parking lot as Golden Corral. Before entering you ring a door bell so the gentleman can let you in. I needed to have my watch band replaced with one I personally brought in and a battery replacement. I was quoted $45 for the service. It took about an hr and everything was ready. As you see from the pics my watch looks good as new. Thanks again for the speedy service. read more

My husband and I have taken two very nice rings to Brian to remake and replace a missing diamond. One of the rings was my wedding band, and it needed to be remade because I had tried to put a spring on the back of it to go over my knuckle, but fit my finger and it just caused a mess. Finally, the gold band broke, so I had to do something. We decided to take the ring to Brian and he did an excellent job remaking the ring. Then, not even a month later, I lost a diamond out of another ring, and I took it in to Brian to repair and replace the diamond. He not only repaired and replaced the diamond. He also changed out all the prongs to white gold, which makes the diamonds look better and he secured everything. The time I had to wait for each ring was about two weeks, but well worth it. Here's the drill: read the sign that says "Ring bell" to get inside this joint. I get a little freaked when you have to ring a buzzer and get buzzed-in to an establishment. Makes you wonder what kind of place am I going into and (most importantly) can I get out?? Yes, you can get out. But while you're there, you get some helpful friendly service. Get your jewels repaired, browse the selections (which could be better but it's not that kind of place) and expect to have your repair complete on time. Can't beat that. read more

I was referred to SMJ Jewelers by a friend when I was shopping for engagement rings. When I walked into the store, I was greeted by the owner and shown the selection of rings and diamonds. While they didn't have the exact ring I was looking for, they did have a diamond that was just right. The owner worked with me to custom build a ring using their diamond and the band style I knew my fiance was looking for. I picked out the ring during the middle of covid19 which created vendor delays for the shop but the owner was in communication with me the entire time and notified me as soon as the ring was ready. So one of the hardest thing to look for nowadays is a good jeweler. Now, I am huge stickler with my jeweler because : (1) I have an allergy to impure metals, (2) I need someone to change my battery to my watches, (3) I do not want to pay too much for any of my jewelery needs. So this place is a mom and pop joint. You have to ring a door bell you have to ring and the owner has to buzz you in. I guess this makes up for the fact that they can't hire a security guard. The owner is nice and when ever I need my battery changed he is super quick and punctual. Whenever I need good quality timeless jewelry and not the Claire's or Express kind and I don't want to pay the Tiffany's price, I go here. I have gotten necklaces and earrings here. They are great and I have had no issues with him. I told him about my allergies and he knows what metals work with me. My wife was having trouble with her wedding ring. So we decided to take what we had, gold and diamonds and redo the setting. I took a picture to Ryan of what we wanted and he was able to come up with a setting that was perfect. He was fair on the price and worked with me. We used the same primary diamond and the ring came out looking much better than when we were first married. It was amazing that the same diamond could look so different, bigger, more brilliant with just with a different setting. I'm picky where I take my jewelry. I needed to get my wife's engagement ring fix. Took it here based on the reviews of other. I did have to ring the door bell, which just showed the guy is cautions. The ower was friendly and seemed to know what he was taking about. He made feel at ease leaving my ring there. When I picked it up he had done a real good job fixing the prongs and even took the extra time to clean it real good. SCAMMER ALERT!.... this jeweler tried to charge me $375 to sawder a ring that didn't need to be saudered and to put on 12 new prongs on my great-grandmother' s ring. I went to Houghton's Jeweler's on 34th and 290 and they charged me $120 for the 12 new prongs and told me not to sauder the ring as it would ruin the antiquity of it . The jeweler at SMJ even suggested that after I had the ring fixed to come back very 3 months for "checking" and not too wear the ring all the time or it will " wear it out "....really ??.... when I asked him , if something was wrong during the regular checks,would he charge me ?...he said " yes a little "....
