I said you said the above and he said no no $45. So I paid him but I told him that he's dishonest and repeated what he quoted. He didn't care. So I told him I will not be returning. A great, quick, and cheap place to get a Smog Check! I was first impressed by how quickly this place answers their phone. I called before I came to see if it was busy and they told me there was no wait. I arrived and parked and talked to the Smog guy, and then got my car and pulled forward into the garage just as another was leaving. I brought a coupon I printed from online, that made it about $34 which was several dollars cheaper than other quotes I received from nearby businesses. **Keep in mind this is a Cash Only quote, as in, you get that price with the coupon only if you pay with cash. The garage seemed a bit awkward at first, as I am used to sitting in an indoors waiting room. But, I sat down on a couch and the woman who works there made us feel comfortable with her warmth and kindness. I read some of their kids books to my toddler son. And the smog check was completed in about 8 minutes!! So incredible! Especially while I had an active toddler to try to entertain! I was impressed by the price, speed, and customer service this place offered! A great reminder to never judge a book by it's cover! My only suggestion for management would be to purchase some cheap toys for kids to play with. But otherwise, this place was perfect! read more

The short version - USE THIS SMOG CENTER ! - I would give fifteen stars if I could. It was a totally excellent experience with owners Lina and Bill today. We found out this morning that a friend wanted to buy my car - TODAY ( ! ) - and we needed to get a smog check on the spur of the moment so the car could be registered to new owner. This place had fantastic Yelp reviews and it was bonus that it was only four minutes from our apartment (Vantis Apartments) in Aliso Viejo, right across from City Lights at Town Center Apartments - it is at the corner of Pacific Park and Aliso Viejo Parkway. Look for the Chevron station right on the corner - and there is a convenience store there too. Turn into the Chevron station and look for a long building with alot of different auto maintenance bays tucked in behind the station and convenience store - Smog Express is in that long building. It's not easy to see from the street but it's there - look above the bays in the middle of the building for SMOG EXPRESS in blue letters with a red check mark behind it. It's right next door to Pacific Automotive. You HAVE to find this smog station ! - we were completely impressed with the whole experience. The husband and wife who run it were just fantastic. Lina and Bill are extremely polite and friendly, they work together really well as a team and they seem to really enjoy their work. They had us in and out of there so fast - with a printed certificate for my friend to take to the DMV and they also transmitted it electronically to both DMV and AAA. We had a coupon printed from their website and that made the price unexpectedly lower than we are used to paying for smog checks. They so nicely asked if we might have cash to pay for it - and if not, they would have gladly accepted a credit card. I can't say enough great things about this business - both of us were so impressed with the whole experience today. I'm not sure how many people know they are tucked in behind the Chevron - it would be easy to miss for sure. This is such a convenient location and even if it wasn't, it would be totally worth the drive to have this team handle your smog check. IF you have cash, bring it with you ! - that would save them the credit card fees. Came in there today after another Smog Check Company said their computer was down. I googled smog stations in Aliso Viejo and saw Smog Express was the closest one, so I went there. I was greeted by an older gentleman, who could not be more nicer. This place is great! I stopped by a bit before work to get my car smogged so that I can register my car in California after moving here from Arizona. My car isn't very old (only 3 model years) but I apparently have to get it smogged anyway! This mom and pop shop is super sweet - they gave me a $20 off coupon (that ended up being actually $24) and waived the out of state fee for me. They also gave me more $20 off coupons for the future. I hate having to take time out of my day to do this stuff but honestly these guys are amazing! This husband and wife team do a great job to get the check done fast and correct. I went in and after about 10-15 min later I was good to go. I went in a few days before and the wait was about 30 min (which still is not bad) but I didn't have time to wait. So obviously it can get busy but that's a sign that they treat people well and know what they are doing. They also gave me a coupon for $20 off. It is the absolutely rudest thing to be late, especially to your own establishment where customers are waiting. You're basically telling your customers that their time does not matter and yours in more important. If you don't think people are going to show because of what day it is, but a fricken sign saying that you will not be there. Don't just not show and make people wait for over an hour. read more

The good: Works quickly and seems competent. The bad: Tested car even though he knew there was a problem with one of the sensors (something I didn't find out until after the fact). In other words, he charged me $52 knowing it was going to fail and then "did me a favor" by offering to retest it for $32 (even when that was the advertised price on the wall).
