Didn't pass their inspection due to them accusing I tampered with one of my parts. The pipe was wrapped with black tape from factory which held together a piece of material to block engine heat. They accused I purposely wrapped it to conceal a leak, which is totally untrue. I bought the car brand new so I would know because I never touched that particular part. Called and asked how much it was to get my 2010 Acura TSX smogged. It was only $40 compared to other places charging $55 to $60 in the area. I got there and the board on the wall said $55, and the guy told me the price he gave me was $15 off. He said not to worry about checking in on yelp because he already gave me the discounted price. Best place to not just get your car smogged, but also get your car repaired too. I drove out from Davis to get my driver's side window fixed, and again to replace my cat-convertor. Both days I was there, the customers that showed up were either referred by someone or a loyal customer who came from out of the area because they trust the shop's work like I do... all evidence of quality work! I called a couple of shops before I called Smog In. Both told me that because my car is a Honda CRV, it would cost an extra $10 (a standard charge for SUVs). I explained it is not an SUV, that the car has an Accord chassis, but one man falsely claimed the DMV classifies the vehicles and that mine is an SUV. I could smell baloney coming through the phone. Then I called Smog In. The young man promised me $40 out the door, complete with certificate. And that's what happened. I went in around noon on a Thursday and didn't have to wait long. read more

Changing my review because Mr S (the technician) was nice enough to show me that my car actually was blowing blue smoke. As for the rest of my experience here, one word sums it: bullsh*t. The guy at the front counter didn't have an answer for me on my initial visit as to why my car failed visual smoke test or an answer as to how I could get it fixed. Then when I come back the next day, he's all of a sudden Mr Know It All and claims he told me the day before. I recommend you take your business elsewhere if you want to deal with people who can actually help you, not just tell you that you failed your smog. read more

2000 mazda MPV : 380,000+ miles. Started with OBD issue. Mazda Elk Grove had the car 2 days with diagnostic fee and said they were stumped and I should replace the car. Usual mechanic said that 3 cats would cost 3k + labor; consider retiring the car. Tommy and his crew changed two O2 sensors, one Cat, plugs and wires, all for much less. I like how you tried to justify your actions by saying that I wrote multiple fake reviews. Nice try but that's not true. Also, my "1" review is not fake. You just said thy were just doing their job "AS TOLD". Well maybe you should "TELL THEM" to inform the customer that it won't pass smog just by having that check engine light on. That's not a diagnostic it's called "INTEGRITY". I'm a single mother of 3 children, working 2 jobs, just barely making ends meet. You took my money that I can barely afford and wasted my time. Which I only have 1 hour in between jobs to do what I can. Look man I'm not even worried about a refund anymore because I know it's not going to happen, I just hope you change your policy and do it right for the customer by telling them upfront "Hey your check engine light is on, we are not diagnosing your car but I can tell you it won't pass smog because of the light, I don't want to take your money so why don't you have it fixed and then come back for smog". New place I check out after reading some Yelp reviews. Old place I was going to was charging me close to $50.. and that's with a coupon! Anyways So I saw the offer on Yelp for $38... I messaged the business on Yelp and Tommy who I'm assuming the owner is responded fairly quick.. talked price and time. They close at 5pm and I get off work at that time.. and would take me like 20mins to get there... Tommy offered to stay open after 5pm to accommodate me but I felt bad.. Im sure they all want to get going after the shop is closes and go home. So I called and made a appointment during my lunch time.. got there at 12:45 and was out by 1:20...took a tad longer because a few other folks walked in right after me. Lo who as at the front desk was nice and speedy with getting things done.. seemed like a very efficient business...also he was very nice.
