Great traditional smokehouse. I had the smoked sausage, pulled pork and brisket, wife had a ribeye and daughter had burnt ends and everything was great. Service was good and food was great. My only complaint would be the noise level as the high ceilings seem to amplify the sound, but it was not bad enough to deter me from returning if in the area. read more

Happy to see a BBQ place in Bedford. Love the update to the old N&J bar especially that u can see through the bar & have more TVs. We had the lollipops that everyone has been talking about, but we didn't care for the type of sausage. The cheese curds were good but the Brisket taco were AMAZING!!! The service was good, but the food was horrible. Waited an hour for overcooked leather chicken, overcooked salmon, dry ribs, luckily they have a variety of bbq sauces to make the food palatable. While looking through Yelp for local restaurants to try, I stumbled across Smokehouse 734. Read the reviews on Yelp and Google. Google had a higher rating, and I know sometimes Yelp reviews can be a little more critical. Because we all know Foodies live on Yelp ;). So, my family and I pull up to a pretty empty parking lot at 4:30PM on a Saturday,with high hopes. We were seated after waiting a couple of minutes. The atmosphere of this place is clean and industrial looking, which is what you want in a good BBQ spot. We ordered the pickle fries and poutine as a starter, and I have to say, both were fantastic. If the rest of the meal is like this, we have a new spot! The server asked if we wanted to order before or after we received our starters, we asked to order after we received our starters. We ate our starters, and about 10-15 minutes later, our server came back to take our order. At this time, the restaurant started filling up. I ordered the combo with the ribs and brisket, O- rings, and Mac & cheese. My wife ordered Johnny's brisket sandwich and O- rings. My oldest son ordered the smoked meatloaf sandwich, the daughter ordered a burger, and the young twin boys ordered a burger and chicken strips. It took us over an hour to receive our food. Onto the food; my brisket was fatty and dry. I'm not sure how you achieve this feat, but it was definitely achieved. Ribs were so dry that I could tap them with my knife and hear a clinking sound. Mac& cheese was like noodles in cheese soup. No exaggeration. O-rings were decent. My wife enjoyed the flavor of her sandwich, but it was lukewarm. Food arrived in 10 minute intervals. My daughter didn't receive her burger until everyone else had eaten. The chicken strips were burnt. A kids cheese pizza was brought to our table, which we didn't order. I had to let the server know that this was my first experience here, and it was not a good one. I demonstrated the knife clinking on the ribs. I did not eat these ribs. The server explained that the kitchen was " a mess" and that they didn't have experienced people in the kitchen. She did take the ribs and chicken strips off the bill. She then apologized and said we should try again when it wasn't a Saturday. The place did get very busy by the time we left, and I could understand a " rush" as my first jobs were in sit-down restaurants. What I can't understand is why there was no experienced leadership in the kitchen on a Saturday night. Also, our order started at 4:33 pm, and we're not rung out until 613. It should also be noted that we didn't get our food until around 5:50. Almost 2 hours is pretty ridiculous. Also, there were other tables that sat after us that received their food and left before us. There were two 4 tops that I could see. I speculate that the kitchen lost or buried our ticket, hence my dry ribs and brisket, and my wife's lukewarm brisket sandwich while they tried to complete the ticket. One other note is that the kid's meals were 2 burgers and a chicken strip. Upon further inspection,after leaving the restaurant, the server rang in a cheese pizza. This would explain the phantom cheese pizza arriving at our table. We came in at 4:30 to intentionally miss the rush. I've attached pictures of food and the receipt to show this is not an exaggeration. I honestly wanted to like it here as I'm all about supporting local . It started off great! I don't know if we will give this another shot on another night or not. But, as of now, the star rating reflects our experience tonight. read more

COVID 19- Support your local businesses! We are spending our shelter in place up here in MI with the in laws from FL. We all decided on ribs but were too lazy to do the work. Found this place on the internet and gave them a shot. Called in the AM for a 4 o'clock pick up. Lady in the phone was extra nice and answered all my questions. Went in at 4 for pick up and they kept all the food warm and conveniently packaged the food up. Again, super nice people. Although the inside is closed currently it looked like they have a good atmosphere. From the green beans to ribs everything was delicious. My father in law who is hard to impress enjoyed every bit. This is another home run for the sidelines group. Amazing food smoked daily, their wings are legitimately top 4 East of the Mississippi. At each table there's 4 types of bbq sauces (regular, hot, coffee, and mustard) for dipping. Consistent food every time. I was really hoping someone would keep the old Nick and Jimmy's location open once I heard it was closing. It was a great place to watch a game, spacious, and a nice bar setup. Then I heard sidelines bought it and turned it into a bbq joint. Now it has even better food and is remodeled on the inside. Touch tunes and Golden Tee machine to boot. One of the strongest lunch menus I've seen anywhere. Overall great sports bar setting to eat or drink. Go see Celeste behind the bar she makes a killer margarita and purple Gatorade shots. read more

We came to Smokehouse 734 on a Monday night and were immediately greeted by the host who seated up promptly. The dining room is very spacious but you're never out of view of the multiple tvs around the room. The beer selection had multiple MI craft beers and when the server asks if you want the short or the tall you should definitely opt for the tall. The tall beer, a monster of a draft, was a precursor to the very generous portion sizes of the 3 meat entree of pulled pork (very moist), brisket (great oak & cherry wood smoke ring) and wings (crisp exterior, juicy on the inside). Not to mention the included sides of cheesy mac, smokey pit beans, and moist cornbread. All the flavors were bold but not overstated and their house coffee BBQ sauce should be sold in the bottle it's that damn good. Our server recommended this the burnt ends and sausage lollipops and they both were delicious, and the burnt ends were melt in your mouth. The food here is very good. Great selection of BBQ and smoked meats. I've found the chicken (both the smoked chicken and the chicken breast) can be a little dry, but quickly fixed by some more sauce. Ribs, pulled pork, sides... it's all been pretty good. That said, it can sometimes be quite different from one visit to the next. Example: had the best pulled pork ever one time, another time it was dry and meh. Beer here isn't bad, with a few rotating crafts including local beer from Pavlov's. I'd give 4 stars if it wasn't for the service. They have call-ahead, but make sure you get the name of the person you're talking to when you call. They may not have bothered to put you on the list. Also, if your theme is BBQ food, you should let someone know that there's kitchen trouble and you have no BBQ before they sit down and order drinks. Wait staff have been great on some visits, but dismal on others. It can make an otherwise great meal average. read more

After my third visit I expected what I had received in my previously visits to this restaurant. I guess the overwhelming success has led to inevitable shortcut in food preparation. The first time I ordered a full rack ($23) it was excellent. Maybe the best ever. And I have smoked many, many racks myself. I know good barbecue ribs. What I received last night was not good. I ate three bones and took the rest to go. I knew it was too good to last. To describe the reason for my disappointment, the ribs were not perfectly tender like the first time I ordered them. They seemed to be precooked, maybe boiled, maybe in the oven. They did spend some time in the smoker, this was obvious. But most smokehouses will eventually resort to taking shortcuts such as this, especially when they cannot keep up. Smoking ribs is difficult and time consuming. When you follow the rules, it shows. When you cut corners, the ribs will tell on you. I hope this restaurant is not another flash in the pan that goes the way of Famous Dave's or others, but my recent experience seems to indicate that it may. read more

Everyone needs a "Peyton's mom" She's someone who is consistent. Rule of experience: when you staff for patio: NO ONE shows up. When you don't schedule for patio: it's busier than balls and you can't get staff to help or they're potentially too busy inside. I.GET.IT. Manager: establish who's rotating patio at the beginning of the day. Simple easy peasy. Don't make your guests feel weird. Have it delegated out! This is no offense to any server what-so-ever. I totally get it! Walking outside sucks for all servers. No one wants to take on more than what they can handle; especially if you're section is full and all of a sudden you have 2-3 patio tables. Fair game. We sat outside: Then here comes JULIE. She offered us food and we didn't even think we were hungry. We ordered food because she is an up-selling machine. Impressed. She served us so prompt and with a smile. Top notch service and 5 stars to her. AWESOME table rapport. Kuddos to management and these fine people. Food was unmatched. Had the queso to start, wasn't melted through and the tortilla chips were store bought and ready to turn stale. While the service was very quick and friendly, the food itself was very average. It is very similar to the other restaurants in the Sidelines family of companies. One of the main similarities being that the food was luke warm/cold when it got it our table. We ordered the sausage lollipops, the 1/2 rack of ribs meal, and the pick 3 - half chicken, pulled pork, and brisket. Our sides were fries, baked beans, coleslaw and baked potato. Also got the Mac and cheese and green beans from the kids menu Pros: very quick and friendly service, the sauces were pretty tasty, and the bacon wrapped sausage pops were great! The fries were yummy as well as the baked potato. Cons: the ribs were cooked good, but not much flavor. The brisket and pulled pork were very dry and again not much flavor. The chicken was the best of the entree meats, but the skin wasn't very crispy. The baked beans were clearly from a can, the coleslaw was average, the Mac and cheese was kid friendly and the green beans were cold. Overall not good bbq, and not worth the money. It's worth the drive to go to City BBQ instead of here. I keep trying Sidelines FOC restaurants, and keep getting cold, bland food. Bummer! read more

We tried this restaurant yesterday to see what it was like. Nice place inside also kid friendly. We ordered queso dip which was pretty good and seasoned dry rub chicken wings, which only tasted like smoked chicken wings. No flavor at all to them other than smoked chicken. Dinner was a pulled pork sandwich and fries as well as sausage sandwich. Again very bland, the only flavor was a Smokey taste. We enjoy sidelines restaurants but this one needs a lot of attention in the kitchen. Waitress also seemed to be in a hurry when placing the order. read more

Food was overall quite good: perhaps the best pulled pork I've had, brisket was good but not amazing, smoked sausage was also good. Several in-house sauce varieties, but sweet bbq was likely the best (had a "coffee bbq" that tasted more like molasses). I was really wanting to like this more. The food was decent. We split a pizza and had smoked sausage bites. The bites were wrapped in bacon and covered in a tangy sauce. The pizza had good flavor. The downside was the attention, or lack of, that was paid to us. It seemed like the staff was more concerned with satisfying the regulars instead of helping all customers the same. This is the same thing that led to the demise of Nick and Jimmy's. When you go out of your way to only help a select few you will turn others off. If this is corrected then it will be a nice place to visit. If you want people to return then show everyone the same respect. read more

Went there recently with my family for the first time. We were excited to try it due to all the great reviews. Boy did we regret it. I was embarrassed bc I was the one who suggested it. Pros: The place was clean and had a nice atmosphere. The perch and barbecue chicken was good. Con: The waitress was not good at all. Kept messing up on orders and seemed to be rushing us. The chili was inedible....it tasted like someone dumped a bunch of cumin in there. The smoked sausage lollipops were so salty that no one wanted to eat them. The brisket was burnt on everyone's order. The mac and cheese was so dry and tasteless that both of my sons couldn't even eat it. All of the food seemed very salty.......esp the Salmon and smoked sausage lollipops. The choc cake was not good either. Complete waste of time and money.
