Not near as good as the hype, food at best was average, service was slow, it just fell well short of expectations.

I was looking forward to a great experience, well.. not so great. As I looked over the menu I mentioned to the waitress we have never been here before. She never offered to say what their popular dish was, etc... she was more interested in getting a drink order. I started with water but wanted to try their blackberry lemonade. After dropping off the water and ordering, nothing for 30 minutes. The place was only 30% full. Finally our food came, I had the St. Louis ribs, you can get 4, 8 or 12. I ordered 4. Very small portion fpr $15+. The sides make up the rest of the dinner. Food was really good. My daughter had the burger that was like a hockey puck. 15 minutes later the waitress asked about our meal, I said it was good but I would like more water and mentioned the garlic bread that came with my item never showed (she should of noticed that). I will give it another try because the food was good, but the service was horrible. read more

I came to Smokey Bones because a friend suggested it to me. I came here on a Monday night. I seated by a very lovely young lady who was very polite to us. My friend and I were by our server who's name Kailey. Kailey is very nice and very polite and took our orders promptly. I ordered a cup of tomato soup and a swiss and mushroom burger. Ok went here again for dinner, takeout this time, and it was not good. I ordered a full rack of baby back ribs and they were greasy and tasted old. I also ordered chicken tenders and fries and they both tasted old. I am not sure how they prepare their food but today's meal tasted as if it was prepared earlier today and simply warmed up in a microwave when I ordered it. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! My family and I have been coming here for years. On our last visit we had a party of eight and the place was mostly empty. We all ordered burgers because smokey bones was known for their burgers. We waited over two hours to get our order. Somehow the staff decided to serve us spoiled food. We immediately reported the rotten meat to the manager. They did remove the charges but our night was ruined. To top it off the service was none existent. So we had terrible service and literally rotten food. Safe to say we will not be returning. My advice to the management is never serve or mix rotten food. Waitress Holly, was very gracious and tried to make our bad meal better but it was not in her control. Our order was: App. Fried pickles, came blackened from old oil. Meals: Husband Ribfest dry, old, luke warm. Fries: Black from old grease and we sent it back. My order, BOGO 12 wings, half teriyaki/and half dry rub, all were dry, old/over cooked in black old oil. There were only 3 tables with guests, so not busy. No acknowledgement from mngr other than, was "going to change oil tonight". The family and I went to Smokey Bones yesterday and we were all disappointed with the variety of food we ordered. The only upside to the visit was that the server was friendly and polite. Our visit was on Saturday evening around 5:00, but the restaurant was less than half full. Since we were hungry, we ordered the garlic bread and the iron skillet corn bread to hold us over while we waited for our meals. The garlic bread was good, but the corn bread was very chewy like bread can get if it's microwaved. I don't know if that's what they did, but it wasn't worth the calories (and the work out to our jaws) so we had the server take it away. For our dinners, we had the beef brisket, the pulled pork, the baby back ribs and the chicken breast, with sides of baked beans, mashed potatoes and slaw. Everyone liked the baked beans, but the other sides were just mediocre. Unfortunately, the worse part of the meal was the meat with the pulled pork being very dry and the baby back ribs and brisket being over cooked. I will say that the BBQ sauce was good as we had to use it generously to moisten the meat. Overall, our visit to Smokey Bones was very disappointing and if it hadn't been for the server, I would have rated them a 1 star. There are too many good BBQ restaurant in the area, so I won't be returning to to Smokey Bones. read more

I called to order dinner for my family and I. I was told that it would be 25 minutes for my food to be done. I left my home 60 minutes to give them time because they are always word with the times when I order my food. I get there and was told my food was 20.00 I have the female my card and after she ran it was told basically she charged me for the wrong order, that's fine she's human people make mistakes but when I asked for proof that my card would be credited they couldn't provide me proof. After speaking with the manager Heather I just accepted what she told me and I paid the correct total for my food and left, when I got to my hotel room (I wasn't going back home) I go to eat and there was no silverware in the bag like I was originally told I will never eat here again this place used to be one of my favorite restaurants near my home in citrus park. My family and I went to Smokey Bones restaurant located in Citrus Park, Florida and were completely ignored. We were there just after the lunch hour at around 1p. We were never greeted or even acknowledged even though the restaurant was fairly empty. A couple waitresses glanced in our direction but we didn't get a smile or any attempt to seat us. After waiting for about 10 minutes at the hostess desk, we left and went to Chilis where we greeted with a smile and enjoyed our meal. I phoned in an order for: two slabs St Louis ribs, no bread, no sauce/plain. The girl on the phone taking the order (Sep 3; 5:45PM; Citrus Park) could not understand this request. After a third try and realizing the "no sauce/plain" order was the part she could not comprehend I changed-up the adjectives for a fourth attempt and had her repeat the order which she seemingly "got". The order was ready for pickup at the specified time, however my trusting sole neglected to check it until I got home: 1 slab of St Louis ribs,with sauce, with bread. I am not just done with SmokeyBones--but with the whole of the chain-restaurant business that made its name on quality control---both product and service which necessarily across-the-board no longer applies. Let me start out by saying the first time we came here with my fiancé's family we had Nia as our server. It was my first time ever coming here and She was phenomenal! Even gave us a bag of donuts for getting engaged! Which made my whole night when I got home! Then we came in tonight and was happy to have her again!!! She is so friendly and so sweet. Ten years ago, I swore I'd never eat here again. We waited 2 hours for a table because they gave our table for 8 away to someone else. Then I was served a chicken breast that was raw in the middle. We visited Smokey Bones on a Saturday night, had a 30-40 minute wait and our food took about 15 minutes to get to us - not too bad! Our server Kailey was great, attentive and personable. She warned us about the kitchen being behind but continued to serve us refills, our appetizer promptly, and checked on us often. My low rating is because of the severely bland food. I had a Chopped Chicken Salad which sounded fantastic on the menu, but had chicken that wasn't seasoned and the candid nuts were just weird. I would urge the restaurant to focus more on serving meals that are more flavorful and unique. Overall, I think Smokey Bones does a great job on their branding and their service, but the food is just okay. I don't see myself going back anytime soon as there are much better restaurants in the area. read more

Super Disappointment!!! I was on my way home from my daughters house and the wife and I still hadn't had dinner so we stopped here. We usually hit the one by Clearwater Mall and have no problems so we figured we would be safe with this one. Well I was totally wrong!!! It was very empty in the place that they were putting up halloween decorations but was totally ignored waiting for someone to sit us. Once we did get seated we were ok for a but. The waitress was very nice and took our drink and food orders. THe wife ordered a Baked Potato and Soup and I had the brisket and sausage with corn and mashed potatoes. Well once the food order went in that is when it started going down hill. Remember it wasn't very busy so we were surprised that the food was taking so long. Even the waitress apologized for the wait. Once the food did arrive it was becoming worse. The wife's baked potato was so cold the butter wasn't even melting on it. Then I checked my food and my brisket and corn were literally ice cold. So we grabbed the waitress, she apologized and took back the corn and the wife's potato and said she will get this corrected and bring out fresh brisket. Round two even worse. The waitress come out with the potato, corn and brisket sitting on two plates, one with the food and the other underneath. Well the plate on the bottom was hot so we would think the food was hot, well guess what. The plate with the food was cold and so was the food again. So the manager had to comp our meal and was offered to take it home but I was so disgusted that I didn't even eat and left all the food there. read more

EDIT: Minutes after posting this honest review on Google 2 months ago, the owner reached out to me and asked me to email QStephens@smokeybones.com so that they could make things right. I politely reached out with details, thanking them for their timely response. 2 months later I have received no response to multiple emails. Clearly this company was only concerned about its reputation and others witnessing a negative review rather than actual customer service. Absolutely pathetic. Unfortunately this was by far the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. We called and ordered takeout over the phone and for the three entrées we ordered we were told there were two sides included, which we chose. When we went to go pick up our order, the girl who rang us up (the same one who took our order over the phone) informed us that we actually get only one side choice and not two, which she said she chose for us. This was definitely bothersome, but it wasn't worth waiting for a new side of our choosing to be remade. However when she rang my individual order up (I ordered a prime rib French dip), she informed me that my total was going to be $28. Confused, I asked if that was the price of the French dip sandwich I ordered. She said she thought I ordered the prime rib steak and rolled her eyes while telling me she'd have to go ask the kitchen to remake it. Because she mixed up the orders, she had to grab a manager to correct the price. The manager who spoke to us was kind, but while she was correcting the ticket, the girl who originally took our order returned to the host stand eating a slice of pizza and laughing while not even making eye contact with us. Let me say, I have worked in the restaurant industry for nearly a decade and can easily understand that innocent mistakes are often made. Things happen that are not usually a reason to cause a fuss. However, never did we get an apology or were offered any kind of compensation for the things we ordered but didn't receive. We were treated like a nuisance the entire time. This all wouldn't have even been an overall terrible experience if the quality of the food came out decent. However, all of our food was cold. The meat in the chicken plate was dry, my sandwich was missing most ingredients, and unfortunately it was cafeteria quality at best.
