Long time customers from the day they opened. My wife and I always sit at the bar -- and bar server was eating something as we walked in . We sat down at the bar and waited to be greeted . Eventually bartender ( her name is Nia)) came over to take our drink order which we ordered a drink each . I asked her if she could please put the Rays baseball game on. Her attitude and demeanor was sour as we have had her service before. She brought our drinks and a few minutes later asked if we were ready to order. I said can you please put the Rays game on ( we live in Tampa and local sports team should be on at least one of the many Tv 's. She said someone else is working on it very rudely. I said if you can't put the game on then we will go somewhere else as there are many close places to watch the game and drink and eat. She got even more rude . I have probably never been so dissatisfied that I told her to bring my bill. She could have cared less. She even told me I am through with you. The food has always been good but I will never step back in this restaurant again because of this server (Nia). Spoke to manager on the way out (Khia Pitts) , which was also useless. Tonight's experience at Smokey Bones was one for the record books, and I do not mean championship type books. We arrived shortly after 7pm, were told there would be a 20 minute wait and so we popped over to the bar to grab a drink. The entire time we have been here (it is now 7:46), the tables around the restaurant remain unclean; no cleaning happening on a Saturday night. Perhaps this was the cause for the wait to be seated. The service at the bar was negligible as well, and the bar tender was actively encouraging you to not stay at the bar to eat dinner but rather wait to be seated. Then there was the fact we did get seated but had no server so we had to get the bar tender to assist to even get us a server, which never happened. Terrible and do not come. We finally walked out after being in the restaurant for one hour with no service. As we were leaving, we were kind enough to let the other folks still waiting for tables know what kind of experience they were going to have that night so they could leave as well. read more

I went initially for the all you can eat Tacos special on Wednesday night, but will make sure I return Monday for their all you can eat wings special. My waitress Tammy was spectacular! She was on point with service and provided a warm southern spirit that was very welcoming and inviting. In my many years of experience as a food critic, I must say I was really impress this time around, especially since I been a Bone's Club member since 2016. We here for the first time, at this location, the service was so bad we left. We ordered and was still waiting for our food 45 minutes later! The manager came over, because I went to tell him, his excuse, they were short staffed. He offered us beer, we don't drink beer, then cornbread, didn't want any freakedn cornbread, then an appetizer. LOL We're like, you can't get our food to us how long is it going to take for the appetizer, he didn't have an answer. We left. The people sitting behind us was there before us still waiting on their food because someone else took their food. We came on around 9pm and they didn't have any chicken or brisket left, the server added that they always run out during dinner... My first experience with this location was a to-go order that was completely wrong. After a phone call, the manager told me they could not remake the food, only refund. The refund never came through. Six months later I thought I would give them another chance....place an order through Uber eats. Half an hour into waiting for the order, the restaurant cancelled the order. I'm not sure why Smokey Bones doesn't have a pulled chicken sandwich on their menu, but apparently it's something that they don't offer. It's one of the most basic items that you will find at any BBQ establishment and they don't even offer it at Smokey Bones. It was lunchtime on a weekend so none of their lunch specials applied and I didn't want a huge meal. After scrolling over the menu for a while, I was very surprised to see how high their prices were. The food here is good, but the prices don't add up. Chicken tenders and fries are pushing $13, which is absolutely absurd. They have three categories of sides, which isn't necessary and is another way for them to nickel and dime you by getting you to upgrade your side. I went with a regular chicken sandwich for my meal with a side of baked beans. The temperature on my sandwich was hot and it was put together very well. It stayed together and didn't fall apart on me. The baked beans had a ton of flavor and were excellent. They are a little on the sweet side but the texture is very thick, which I like. Smokey Bones offers four different types of BBQ sauce and all are pretty good. Our server was good, our food took a little while to come out, but overall it was a fair visit. I like the food here, but it's extremely overpriced. BBQ restaurants in general are expensive, but Smokey Bones is just not worth the high prices on food. read more

My sister and dad have been going here since they opened years ago and always rave about the wings. After years of hearing them talk about them and never trying them, I had them last night. They were so good. The wings a decent size, not as big as wing house, but just as good as them. We got three different flavors; sweet brown sugar, chipotle, and garlic Parmesan. The service was fantastic. I wish I could remember the servers name because she was top notch. For example, my dad was drinking A LOT of diet coke and she ended up bringing him two when she realized that he was super thirsty. Go here if you like wings! read more

Well, that was terrible. There was almost no one in the place yet we had to wait for over five minutes just for someone to acknowledge that we were waiting. We've been here 4 or 5 times and always had decent experiences, but our last visit will be just that--our last. Two pulled pork dinners, a cornbread and two sodas just shouldn't cost $38. I can feed 3 people for this price at Jazzy's or Holy Hog. Insult to injury, the portions were weak as hell. They have definitely cut back on the amount of food you get over the years. read more

Pros: best ribs. Not fatty and so much flavor. Bathrooms are always clean. Atmosphere is welcoming. Decor is unique and fits the theme of BBQ. Smokey Bones has so many options for meat free meals even including veggie burgers! The create your own burger gives you the opportunity to get your protein without eating meat. On top of that, so many of their appetizers are delish too! I personally love the potato and salad meal. I get the meat on the side for my carnivore husband. I've done both takeout and sit down here. I'm always pleased with the service I received. I will say that the to go is generally a few minutes behind their estimated time, but always fresh. Don't be afraid to ask for what you need either! Crazy about BBQ sauce? Ask them for extra and they'll happily grab you some! I love the casual atmosphere that this place has. I have had Smokey Bones catering from my previous job and to tell the truth it wasn't all that great. So when the wife and I went out for dinner and was only left with this choice we were somewhat hesitant. From the moment we were greeted by the happy host I started to relax and enjoy the low light fire in the front and bar in the back atmosphere. We were seated at a booth within 30 (since it was a Saturday night) and greeted by out friendly waiter in no time at all. Service all around was a 5. The wife made her own burger and I had the brisket. Both were cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. The only down side was that I was not a huge fan of the four sauces that they have a d on the burger they don't have plain mayo (I think it was a spice mayo or something. It was still great food. We left enough room for some wonton apples for desert. My god those were amazingly wonderful. For both meals, a come, and an adult beverage, our total before tax was around $39. A lot lower then I was planing on. Overall this was a great place to eat with friendly service and good food. read more

Went in tonight for some brisket. I got some tough pieces of meat and had to send it back. Our waitress, Natalie, was the best. She quickly took the brisket away and let me know it was the last and didn't know why they had sent that out as well. She came back to the table to let me know that was the last of the brisket. I then decided on the chicken. I was quickly served the chicken and it was delicious. Everything was good and as far as service, Natalie is in the running for my favorite server in Tampa. read more

Server had no menu knowledge. Told my nephew his sandwich did not come with fries, and we had questioning faces...and he asked does the description say served with fries? I actually really like smokey bones, and if it were strictly based on food I'd give them a four, which is fantastic for a chain restaurant. I've had their ribs multiple times & they're super tender. Lately, though, I've been all about their pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw. The coleslaw is unlike any other I've had, in a very good way. Lots of crunch, not overly creamy, with an interesting seasoning. I also appreciate the the fact that they offer a variety of sauces- from sweet, to spicy, to mustardy, to vinegar based- there's something for everyone. I'm docking a star only because I've literally NEVER had really good service here. I'd say out of the 10 or so times I've been, three times I've had decent service, and the other 7 times have ranged from slow to terrible. They need some major improvement in their quality and/or training of servers. Fix that & it could easity be a 4 star establishment! read more

Loaded Nachos for entree, came out a bit cold this time, so I deducted a star from my review and this Smokey Bones gets 3 stars instead of 4. I love Smokey Bones Loaded Nachos. It is best when covered in BBQ sauce. Service was pretty decent, nothing spectacular. This chain restaurant is pretty consistent across the board and I have no complaints. There was nothing special that stood out about this visit, but nothing negative worth reporting. I will be back to this location and other locations in the future, pretty much whenever I am craving my Nachos. I get them fully loaded with chicken and extra jalepenos. I like them good and spicy. They have a decent drink selection, but I pretty much stick to beer when I want a drink here, nothing like a cold beer with good BBQ. Smokey Bones does a good job when it comes to BBQ and you should be very happy with your experience if you are looking for a chain that will consistently deliver quality BBQ. read more

I used to love Smokey Bones but hadn't been in years because all the locations closed. Therefore I was delighted to visit one while visiting Tampa. I went with a couple friends & we were very happy with our experience. The food was hot, fresh, flavorful & delicious. We had an amazing waitress named Faith who easily made the experience even better. She was so delightful...:) I just ordered the broccoli cheese soup & a chicken Ceasar salad. I had to send the soup back because it had a weird sour taste to it but they took it off my bill with no problems. The waitress later told me that the cooks tasted the soup & agreed that it had a funny taste. The salad was good but I really wasn't all that crazy about the dressing. The others in my party got ribs with various sides & everyone liked their food. For desert we had the dognuts which were delicious! read more

Haven't been here in ages...and, after this most recent visit, I remember why. Mediocrity. There were several new menu items that sounded appetizing, but they fell short when it came to taste. The fried pickles were tasty, but, they're fried pickles, how could they not be good? The corn dogs were cooked in their doughnut batter. My husband didn't like them at all; I kind of enjoyed the sweetness, but not enough to eat a whole one. The fries weren't good at all. So disappointing because I used to enjoy their fries. Terrible and unprofessional service for a take out order. I made the mistake of ordering via Uber Eats from these people. They grossly mangled my order. The manager told me that the fact that the restaurant ruined my order was too bad, but he told me I had to take it up with Uber, who of course try to never provide a live point of contact.
