If the way we were greeted when we came in was any indication of how the night was going to go, then we should have known better and gone across the street to Outback Steakhouse instead. We were a party of 7 on a Tuesday night, and when we walked in, over half the place was empty, including a giant booth right near the entrance. The hostess let us know she wasn't sure if she could accomodate us, which certainly raised a few eyebrows, but let us know that she would go check. So we waited a moment, and she came back, letting us know that they could. Fantastic! We asked if we could sit in the big giant booth right by the door, we were told no, that booth is closed. Okay, well could we push two of the nearby tables together? No, that section is closed and we don't want to move those tables. Fair enough, we pointed at another section, what about over there, can we move those tables together? No, those tables are closed...are we seeing the theme yet? Perhaps a better name for this place would be, Tables Closed! I wish I could say that our service got better from there, but unfortunately the waitress made it pretty clear she really wasn't interested in providing quality service to our table. We were often ignored, or cut short when attempting to ask for refills, or to go boxes, she failed to put in a replacement food order, failed to take off a replaced item from the check. At one point a member of our party even had to get up and go into the kitchen themself to tell them they no longer want something that was taking too long to come out. Not once did we get an apology for any delays, issues with the food, or lack of overall service. The food is average, you could get it at any BBQ joint, the best thing they have going for them is a decent selection of BBQ sauce already on the table, and really the OK food and the BBQ sauce is the only reason they got 2 stars in stead of 1. Would I be willing to give them another try? Perhaps at a different location, but this particular location, never again. read more

Went yesterday with my daughter for a quick lunch. We both got the salads w/pulled pork and baked potato. For starters table and menu were both sticky. You would think after being shut down for a while during covid these places would Take the opportunity to do a deep cleaning of the restaurant. But when our food came are baked potatoes were completely ice cold the cheese that was melted on the top of it or at least supposed to be melted on the top that you could peel off in one hard slab..'pork was really salty when we finished up I asked for a coffee with sugar and cream she brings out the coffee with the fixings but no spoon and not to mention there was stuff floating in my coffee. I had a bad experience in person years back and swore I would never return. Out of desperation I used door dash for a late night order and was so disappointed. Turkey was good, doubt the burger is 8 oz. Sides, mac n cheese, fries, slaw, fire roasted corn, instant potatoes were uneventfull. Initially, the parking lot is dimly lit. The host, Mike seemed irritated to have to speak to us, but Gary our server was attentive & courteous. The food was not overwhelmingly good, the cornbread was microwaved so the cooler it got the more rubbery the consistency. The nachos were piled high, but once you got beyond the first layer, it was nothing but a plate of dry tortillas, very disappointing. But the donuts, those were the bomb. This restaurant is very good at doing and being what it supposed to be. The barbecue is excellent and the smoked wings are amazing. I've also enjoyed their burgers and was pleasantly surprised by the size and taste of their salads. Restaurant is clean , The tables are pleasantly spaced and service has never been poor. As I set out to write a negative review about a place that has truly become a second home to me over the past several months, a strong sense of guilt sweeps my being. However, I must satisfy my duties as not only an unbiased Yelp reviewer but as a good friend and passionately express my concerns with the overall experience at Smokey Bones this evening. Typically, my exploits at Smokey Bones' weekly "wing night" are satisfactorily saucy. An endless helping of juicy buffalo wings coupled with friendly and attentive service always makes for a successful night out with the boys. Unfortunately, wing night took quite a mighty blow to its longstanding reputation tonight when mere hours ago, my sweet, sweet, poor friend, commonly referred to as "The Giss", was terribly mistreated by our waitress, as well as the kitchen staff, in what I would rather kindly refer to as occupational carelessness. Myself and six of my friends, including the Giss, each ordered our first round of wings as soon as we were seated. Within ten minutes, all of us received a piping hot plate of spectacularly saucy morsels of chicken - all of us, that is, except for The Giss. Minutes ticked by, and even as The Giss continually reminded our waitress, his wings remained absent from the table. By the time the rest of us boys had been granted a second helping, the Giss WAS still waiting on his first round. Oh, let me tell you, the Giss was pissed! The Giss finally received his wings after waiting for about 25 minutes. Here's the catch: they didn't come with fries, they didn't come with the ranch he asked for, and they were dressed with the wrong sauce! As expected, the Giss was unsettlingly disappointed. The worst part? Our waitress seemed hardly concerned with his troubles. Nonchalant, passive aggressive, and surprisingly rude, her behavior was appalling given the terrible experience being had by one of her customers. She made little to no effort to appease the Giss, but instead made him angrier with her lack of care or remorse for the situation. Eventually, the Giss was able to chow down on his much desired wings - still without fries and definitely without the trademark smile the Giss brings along to every feast. It hurt me deeply, watching as my dear friend left one of my favorite establishments without even an ounce of satisfaction. Smokey Bones by no means serves good food - the appeal lies in its friendly pricing, casual, fun loving atmosphere and warming, appropriately talkative crew of waiters and waitresses. Messing up an order several times, angering its customers with insensitive remarks, and not even having the wherewithal to offer up a free bag of donuts to make up for the Giss' troubles puts a real damper on the positive image Smokey Bones has worked hard to establish for itself. My friend Harrison and I are regulars on wing nights - we've been going every week since last June. We've spent a small fortune on their wings and have roughly accounted for 10% of their profits over that time span. After the way they treated our sweet, sweet, poor Giss, however, we're not sure we'll be headed back anytime soon. It's not worth paying at least $20 a week for half-decent wings if you aren't treated with upstanding service every time. Hopefully this will catch the eye of someone important and these issues might be addressed. Get your act together, Smokey Bones (starting with a formal handwritten apology to my friend Giss), and you will regain my trust and earn back my business. First time, last time. We made RESERVATIONS on line for 6:30 P.M. Not call ahead seating. Actual reservations. When we arrived at 6:27...we were told it was going to be another half hour. When we asked if they were backed up or short staffed...the host replied "no, we had a lot of walk ins that just came in." Unless I'm confused about the definition of a reservation, a walk in, and what the difference between the two are...I would think our RESERVATION would RESERVE a table that went to one of the walk ins. Just tremendous stupidity. If the front of the house is this moronic, I'm sure the food and the back of the house are in the same level. My family and I had a late dinner there and it was nice we got to sit inside, but there is an option for outdoor seating. We were greeted outside and asked for a high chair. I would say 10 minutes we stood outside waiting. There was social distancing and required to wear masks. The food was good and we didn't wait long to get our food! While shopping in the Nashua, NH area with family visitors we wanted to try a place we hadn't eaten at before, so headed to Smokey Bones right at the MA/NH border in Tyngsboro. Not at all busy at 1:15 on a Tuesday afternoon. However, there was no one at the hostess desk. After a couple minutes of waiting, my husband finally got the attention of someone in the kitchen. Young woman came out smiling, but no acknowledgement of the delay. Okay, fine. Something on the lobby floor was very sticky and we all made that horrid sucking noise as we were led to a roomy booth. Our server came over a few minute later to take drink orders. My sister-in-law and her husband are the only imbibers in the bunch and wanted beer. To our surprise, they got carded! They're on either side of the big 5-0! While they both look fit and fabulous, they're definitely not in the under 21 crowd. The S-I-L was not impressed. The young lady couldn't recommend anything in particular because she doesn't like beer. Said it all tastes the same to her. I tried the strawberry lemonade with boba "Bubbleade". Quite refreshing, but too much ice. We all ordered from the lunch menu, instead of the big regular one. It has different options. I chose the avocado turkey burger, niece had the California club and the three others all had the smokehouse 1/2lb burger. Food was great! But the delay to get those meals not so much. Over 40 minutes for burgers and a sandwich? Our waitresses checked in on us once to see if drinks needed refilling, but there was no apology or explanation for the ridiculous wait. Another couple came in and got their food much faster. Maybe we need to come back another time when they're not so busy? :/ Wednesdays are all you can eat chicken fingers for $10.99. The only reason that I gave one star is because my shrimp was pretty good. From start to finish, this was a disaster. We called ahead and said we had a large party of thirty. They said they could accommodate us. The drinks took around an hour to get to us. The food came more than an hour after ordered. Brenda was nice but over her head. Never have i ever been to a restaurant with a party that size that was handled by one person. She was taking orders like she was doing separate checks and then cried when she found out she couldn't put on one bill. Andrew the manager was no help. The whole place had an attitude, I don't care how tight your pink shorts were. If you can't handle large parties, just say no when they call. We would have been happy to go elsewhere. Used to be pretty good. They recent upped the decor - but over time have considerably cut back on the quality of their meats. Some of the stuff now is outright disgusting. They used to have a "Smokehouse chicken" that I loved and got all the time. One day I got it and it was over cooked and gross. I complained and asked them to redo it - but the waitress said they "switched vendors" and the new one is lousy - and if they don't cook it REAL heavily - then it doesn't come out well. I asked them to redo it anyway (because it was BURNT) - and they did - sure enough it was gross. The manager came over and apologized - and re-iterated that their "new" chicken is gross. (It seems a lot more to me like process chicken fat and grizzle). Anyway - went back last night for the first time in probably over a year - it was just as bad. My wife's ribs were fatty and chewy, too. So - point is - not just an "inadvertent mistake" - a conscious decision by upper-management to serve food the in-store-management and waitstaff know and agree is gross. read more

Over the years Smokey bones has transitioned to a louder more sports bar type of atmosphere with karaoke and games sprinkled in throughout the week. I used to eat here often but now opt for takeout as I always seem to end up yelling just to have a conversation with the person across from me. For those that prefer the louder sports bar atmosphere this place is getting closer but still has a family crowd and older crowd feel at the same time. I would suggest the ribs - consistently good and one of my favorite bbq sauces which they call the "rib glaze". I often times combine it with their chipotle bbq sauce they keep on their tables. Also their loaded fries are unique and always good but the portion size varies based on how busy and what time of day you go to eat. read more

Apparently they don't know how to smoke a whole chicken breast and slice it. The sausage tasted like the meat had gone bad. It was like 50 degrees in there too and we were shivering. I also want to preface that 5 years ago I ate at this establishment and was convinced that I got food poisoning from undercooked meat. I asked for honey mustard as a side sauce. Now remember this - I had to order the fries and an extra side - so I was paying extra already for the side. Which I was fine with. You'd think that a place like this might give you a healthy portion of honey mustard right? Something to really say - I know you're eating extra fries and tenders - let me give you a portion of honey mustard that you can really use!? No, definitely not - the portion of honey mustard rivaled that of a thimbleful. I could have accidentally dropped it on the floor with the lid open and there was so little there that nothing would have fallen out. Just unbelievably embarrassing for this establishment to cut corners especially in a time where they only get takeout. Impress new customers? Not with me. Oh side note - we asked for two different style of wings and they messed that up too. Don't go here - you'll get chicken tenders - with a side of honey mustard that - on a warm day - might evaporate by the time you get home. Picture attached as proof. This place is run like shit. When our drinks came out I got a $5 mimosa that was small and for the price it was a rip off. My girlfriend's dr pepper was flat. I noticed the woman next to us sent back her sprite too. I then asked for a blue moon and that was gross because the lines were probably dirty. So I sent it back and just asked for a water which tasted like chlorine or rusty pipes or whatever. How hard is it to filter the water? Gotta be lazy or cheap. So for food I ordered the all you can eat pulled chicken that comes with cole slaw and garlic bread and I got no slaw and a small portion of chicken and had to wait for the busy waitress for seconds while watching the people at my table eat. Smokey Bones used to be a favorite of ours for a fun dinner and drinks. It's still good but has gone downhill slowly over the years. The BBQ options have become hit or miss. Chicken wings were our go-to for an appetizer, but sometimes they arrive tasting different or even dry sometimes. The bar has also slowly changed atmospheres, we used to feel comfortable as a middle aged couple for a laid back feel but now we don't bother. I recommend going here if you're in the area or shopping at the ma close by, other than that it's not worth a drive with better options nearby. read more

We went Saturday, November 13th night. I was surprised that no one wore a mask, including our very sick waitress. She couldn't stop sniffing the entire time and even sneezed. My daughters informed me that she was in the bathroom blowing her nose. If you are so sick to the extent where you have symptoms, workers should stay home or atleast wear a mask.
