My favorite place in Arizona. Staff is SUPER friendly, food is delicious. My personal favorites are the tri tip, brisket, and beans. Everything is full of flavor, and the sauces make it even better. Delicious homemade tea. It is a little sweet, so I recommend diluting it with unsweetened tea. The waiter will give you a new bun free of charge. Close to downtown, so you will be able to get there from work. The portions are just right for you to eat, then have the leftovers for dinner the next day. You can smell the food from about ten yards avay from the building. Hard to miss sign. read more

I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was very good. I've never had one with jicama! I also had the cornbread which was great as well. Best barbecue in Tucson and amazing service. The people here go out of their way to make you feel at home. I've been looking for good barbecue in Tucson since I moved here 5 years ago and have had no luck until now. People raved about various places, but I'd be consistently disappointed. Then I tried SMs. The food was incredible--the ribs, pulled pork, turkey and brisket (got the sampler). And the Mac and cheese and beans were delicious. The collard greens are a little spicy for my taste but everything else was fantastic. I've been back many times, and it has always hit the spot. one recommendation is that the beans sometimes need to be cooked longer. But other than that, it is my favorite smokehouse. read more

Took the family today. Great tasting food, good prices, great family atmosphere and super friendly customer service. Terry also gave us a tour of his smokers in which he smokes the days meats beginning at 4:30 AM. I had 1/2 rack of ribs. We also tried the rib tips, pastrami sandwich, and the tri tip sandwich, beans, slaw, and French fries. The fresh cut French fries were especially good. Everything was wonderful! First time here and I'm so happy I got out and tried Smokey Mo! I saw Smokey Mo on Yelp last year but didn't get a chance to try til now. Mo is really friendly and nice! I got the pulled pork sandwich with collard greens and a drink. The BBQ sauce smelled so good! I practically inhaled the sandwich. The bun was slightly soaked from the sauce (not complaining) and it was stuffed with pork, which was soft and so flavorful! It didn't look really big to me, but I was full after eating the sandwich and could only have half of the collard greens. The collard greens were really good too. They were hot, dense, but not mushy. It's a tiny joint in the old Shari's Drive in building, but there is nothing tiny about the friendliness of the staff or the tritip ribs, which is what I ordered. O.m.g., they were good. Just about perfect, in fact: succulent, perfectly smoked, lots of meat, with a yummy sauce (and extra on the side). I was hungry for meat, so didn't try the sides, but I will next time; that jalapeño corn bread sounded good. And you don't expect as much service from a counter restaurant as got..they brought me napkins twice, refilled my drink, and were really interested in how well I was enjoying the food. This is probably my favorite smokehouse! Great customer service. They explained the menu, the special of the day and food portions. We had the 4 meats, 4 sides, and 2 drinks combo. The brisket tacos were delicious, especially with the pickled onions. My group size was three people. It was excellent, definitely going back to this establishment. read more

Fries were good. Brisket had no flavor and was dry. The sauce on top was weak at best. The two tip was ok. The Mac and cheese tasted like it was soaked in water or something. Worst of all, my husband and I got food poisoning from here. read more

Really good barbeque like you might make yourself. Not the same array of sauce choices as at some places but the tri-tip and brisket were tender without being mushy, and tri-tip had a nice crust. The sauce is a little sweet and a little spicy. The sandwiches had just the right amount, not so much that the roll falls apart but plenty of flavor. read more
