Rack of Ribs smelled delicious and the BBQ sauce was wonderful. Ribs were very meaty and tender they were falling off the bone. I was disappointed because once I got past the yummy sauce the ribs were bland. The BBQ sauce did make up for the bland taste of the meat so I have to say they were A-OK. Also, we ordered onion rings as a side, and although they were perfectly cooked someone got carried away with the salt :-( read more

I was at the car wash next door when I locked my keys in my car and walked over to Smokey Mo to use a phone to call a locksmith. Not only did the man at the front go above and beyond to assist me and make sure a locksmith was on their way, but he also gave me the most AMAZING peach cobbler ice cream as well as a drink and fantastic fall off the bone wings. I was blown away by the kindness this establishment showed me as well as the incredible food (seriously, I'll be dreaming about that ice cream). Both meats though where incredibly dry that even the avocado cream and cheese could not make up for... there was only one other person on the place so likely the meat had been sitting there for awhile. Overall a mixed bag. I had lunch there, ordering a two meat combo plate that comes with two sides. The meats showed a nice smoke ring, but smoke flavor was minimal and there was not much bark. After having read about this new place in Tucson newspaper yesterday, we were excited to give it a try. Unfortunately, when we arrived at around 1 pm, they had run out of BBQ. All they had to offer was chicken tacos and hamburgers unless anyone wanted to return at 3 pm after driving across town to get lunch. The fact that they ran out of BBQ says nothing about how good their food is because we didn't get any BBQ. It was just poor planning on their part with their knowing that they were going to be featured in the paper. They should have been prepared for the stampede. Instead, sitting there eating a marginal hamburger (which by the way took forever to get to our table), all we heard was their constant excuse to everyone that walked in about their noon rush and how they ran out of food. We ordered the 4 meat platter and it didn't disappoint ranging from tender brisket to perfectly smoked pulled pork. (Tom of food for 2-3 people priced extremely reasonable) Both the chicken wings and sausage were excellent, smoked just right. Great sides including collard greens, cole slaw, onion rings and mac-n-cheese. They have daily specials (e.g. 3 chicken tacos for $8) so perfect for college student's budget. If i could give this place 6 stars i would!!! The food is amazing! We had the brisket which was juicy and not dry at all, the beef tips were to die for. I recommend the sampler! For a decent price you get a lot of food! The cornbread was our favorite as well as the baked beans. Mac n Cheese was very dry and mushy! The noodles were over cooked and indistinguishable. There was an INSANE amount of cracked pepper in the Mac n cheese. I'm guessing this was yesterday's Mac n cheese they tried to doctor up. The sauce on the tacos made up for how dry the meat was. Smokey flavor was there but no juices or moisture at all. Decided to try the new offerings by Smokey Mo's, a new restaurant that opened where the old Shari's drive in was on 1st Ave. The menu was extremely limited with only 4 menu items for breakfast and lunch. I decided to try the Tucson Cheese steak. The meat had a very strong Smokey flavor and was rather tough and dry. Hot peppers were added and were not listed on menu, and had to drink 2 glasses of water to try and put out the flame, as hot peppers and me don't mix well.
