Food was good. Rated to four stars for prices. Meat prices in general are high right now, but.... What was $15 a year ago is now $18. What was $20 a year ago, is now $24. Not super outrageous, I've seen worse, but enough to drop a star. The porportions of some items were a bit sparse as well. So the burger was ok. The brisket was ok. The macaroni was good. But the jerk chicken was excellent! The fries were excellent! - nice a crispy with good seasoning. It had a good smokey flavor to it. I got the veggies as a side, and it was a good variety of veggies; corn, zucchini, green beans, carrots, broccoli, peas, and a tiny bit of cauliflower. There was also either yellow carrots or new potatoes, I couldn't figure out which cus all the veggies together tasted the same, lol. But I was glad for the variety. Could've added some green chile in there and maybe that would've pushed my four stars to five :D People were friendly, and although it took a little while, it was worth it. People in the back were not idle... two people before us, one after us, and one phone in. Actually, pretty quick with the food, as it was coming out constantly. Kudos to the crew! Overall, it's worth going here again for us, at least once in a great while ... :D

10/10 experience on our short visit through town. This is exceptional BBQ at extremely reasonable prices. The 2-meat platter with two sides was $26...are you kidding me? Where can you find great bbq at that price anywhere? The ribs were stunningly good, the jerk chicken loaded with spices and smoky flavor, and the curds were addicting as hell despite my affinity for batter and not breading. We wanted to try just about everything on the menu, which is extensive. There are daily specials to go along with their great options. From the moment we arrived, there was a steady flow of people coming and going. We chose to eat inside since it was hot outside, but the patio area looked nice and even had mist sprinklers to keep diners cool. Finally, let me just say that I don't often leave reviews for places I haven't tried multiple times. Mostly for an objective review, but I'm confident I'd get the same great experience each visit. The owner and his staff were super friendly. Make sure you talk to Gordon when you visit. An all around excellent place from top to bottom. Great people, great food, great prices. Pretty hard to beat these days.

Front counter at Missouri Smokey Sensations. Pleasant service but food is a bit pricey.

Today I checked out the most recent incarnation of Smokey Sensations up on Missouri Avenue. The initial venue downtown is no longer there and it appears that the owner is no longer connected with his earlier partners??? As a result, a number of photos on this Yelp site are from the earlier downtown venue. Upon arrival I found the building provides an outdoor seating area in the front with a number of wooden picnic tables covered by a large tarp. This area will prove useful as inside there are only three tables and room for only three groups of diners and perhaps ten or twelve people at most. Apparently many customers take their order out. The bistro is bright, clean, and orderly inside. I will note that there was a lot of loud music playing and a lot of noise and chatter emanating from the kitchen area which was out of site. It created a certain vibe in the ambiance. You'll have to decide if that is to your liking. The owner of Smokey Sensations is a nice guy who comes forth and regularly checks on his customers. One young lady was working the front of the house as I entered. She handed me a menu right as I walked in. Past customers have complained that they had to type their orders into an electronic device at the counter but today the pleasant young lady just typed the order in as I stated it. Good for her! I decided to order their "Two Meat Platter" which comes with two sides. I asked for Jerk Chicken and Brisket with sides of Mac N Cheese and Fries. I also asked for a soft drink and was told they only have Pepsi products. It took around ten minutes before the meal was prepared and arrived at my table. The young waitress brought a napkin and metal fork and knife with it. (There were ketchup, salt, and pepper and additional napkins on each table.) The fries were short in stature and filled up a little metal cage. They were well seasoned and crispy. These were very flavorful fries. They were excellent. Rate them an "A-." The Mac N Cheese arrived in a small bowl. Unlike many BBQ joints this Mac N Cheese was outstanding. Rate it also an "A-." Very good. The brisket was covered with a thin bbq sauce which had a nice flavor and a bit of a tang. The brisket was sliced thin and had little fat. It too was very good. Rate it between a "B+" and "A-." The Jerk Chicken came as two drum sticks covered in a delicious sauce and with a firm and sticky skin...fully smoked. It was delicious...probably the star of the show! Rate it an "A" for outstanding. All in all, the meal was outstanding across the board. Ordinarily I would rate a bistro as this around four or four and a half stars at best, but the food at this Smokey Sensations was so good I just would not feel right in rating it less than FIVE STARS. The only problem as I see it is that the prices are a bit steep. I paid around $26.00 for the meal and an additional $4.00 for the glass of soda. With tax the meal came to around $32.00 not including a tip for the young lady. This is a bit much for such a casual restaurant! For that money I could have purchased a bone in ribeye meal at the Texas Roadhouse! Still, the food was outstanding BBQ. We'll leave it at FIVE STARS. (Ps...many of the pictures below on my site pertain to the earlier downtown restaurant. Be careful when viewing them.)

Smokeys was awesome! The flavors are wonderful and the meats are cooked very well. Highly recommend stopping by. The gentleman at the front was very friendly and helpful since we had questions and requested recommendations.

The signs with specials written in marker are giving food truck vibes. Zoom in for the Kool-Aid drink special!

This is a spot for takeout. You have to order on a screen while workers stand right there watching -- that alone was a little awkward. The whole experience felt chaotic. After 25 minutes, they still didn't seem to know who ordered what. We had planned to dine in, but once we saw everything served in plastic and styrofoam, we decided to take it back to our Airbnb. Once we finally ate, the seasoning was decent, but the BBQ was lackluster and the jerk chicken, while smoked, didn't have the bold jerk flavor you'd expect. The portions were good, though. For context, we ordered a drink, a jerk sandwich combo, and a 2-plate combo, which came to $55 after tip. Honestly, I was underwhelmed. It's Black-owned, and I respect that they're trying, which is why I gave it 3 stars. But they really need to fix their kiosk setup and clearly communicate when wait times are 20-30 minutes. Somehow, even after all that, the food wasn't hot when we got it. The best part? The $1.75 drink special. It was KOOL-AID! Check the pic.

Came in for lunch & ordered the spare ribs tips & brisket burnt ends. The first thing I noticed when I walked over was the AMAZING Smokey aroma wafting from the business. Oh my gosh. Mouth watering. Service was amazing. Met the owner who was soooooo nice & so helpful with suggestions on what to order. The food was delicious & I was extremely happy with my order. I will definitely be back & I can't wait to try something else delicious from the menu.

Customer Review - Anointed Cuisine African Restaurant…read moreLocation: 3140 N Lee Trevino Dr, El Paso, TX 79936 Date of Experience: September 19, 2025 Time: 2:21 pm I am writing to share my recent experience with Anointed Cuisine African Restaurant and unfortunately, it was very disappointing. I arrived in El Paso from Phoenix, Arizona on a work trip and as I always do, decided to order from this restaurant because I was excited to enjoy authentic African food. I intentionally did not eat anything earlier in the day so I could fully enjoy my meal once it arrived. When my food was delivered, I quickly realized it was not what I ordered. The food had been prepared incorrectly for the amount charged. I immediately called the restaurant to raise the issue but nothing was done to address it. I specifically asked to speak with the owner but was told she was in a meeting. Nearly an hour later, the owner called me back. To my shock, instead of listening to my concern or asking what I had ordered and how the situation could be corrected, the owner spent almost 7 minutes speaking down to me in a rude and condescending manner. She boasted about having opened many restaurants across the country, told me I could "go to hell," and then hung up on me without giving me a chance to respond. At no point did she acknowledge the mistake, take accountability or even attempt to resolve the issue. This is not the first time I have had a negative experience with this establishment. In the past: * I was served bad fish and had to report it to an employee who apologized but the issue was never addressed further. * A previous order of mine was canceled by the owner simply because DoorDash had credited me $15. It is extremely unprofessional and troubling that a restaurant owner would treat customers this way. Running a successful business is not only about serving food but also about respecting and valuing customers. Good customer service requires patience, humility, accountability and a willingness to make things right when mistakes occur. Sadly, this owner demonstrated none of these qualities. I am rating this restaurant 0 stars based on repeated bad experiences, poor customer service and lack of professionalism. I will also be filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to document these concerns. For the sake of their customers and their business reputation, I strongly recommend that the owner and management team take steps to: 1. Learn and implement proper customer service practices. 2. Address food quality issues seriously. 3. Handle complaints with fairness, respect and professionalism. Until that happens, I cannot recommend Anointed Cuisine African Restaurant to anyone seeking a positive dining experience.

I have never had a plantain dish that I liked, until I tried their fried plantain, wow it was amazing. I wish I'd known the drinks didn't have free refills, I would have had water. It was probably on the menu, but since they don't go off the menu (instead a board tells you what's available on that day) I didn't pay as much attention to it as I should have. Our server was the only one working. Out front and in the kitchen. It took a while to get the food because of that, and she wasn't as attentive to the table because she was also busy cooking. That in mind, the service was excellent.

I am from San Antonio and this is my 2nd time coming to this restaurant…read more The first time I was in awe, I was speaking to lady up front in Creole and even picked up a bottle of Haitian Rum. The food was amazing, I mean I couldn't stop eating it and couldn't wait to come back again.... Fast forward to a year later (boy was I excited. Because we do not have a Haitian Restaurant out there so of course, I'm ready to dive right in again... Immediately after entering, I didn't see the face that was there the last time and notice that the menu that was on the wall was not there and something was different from the last time... we looked at the menu and noticed something different right away.......... The had Haitian Food, Jamaican Food, and African Food, didn't really think anything of it and just ordered the Griot, Oxtail, and the Jerk Chicken. When the food came out I realized that nothing really looked the way it should... The Griot plate was plain, no salad and no rice (we had to tell them to give us some rice).. There are two different styles of the Griot (simple or Complete) if you know , you know.... The OxTail wasn't bad but not exactly what I was use to growing up in Florida... As we were driving away from the restaurant is when I noticed the name of the restaurant had changed to "faith African Cuisine" and my first response to that was ...." There is NOOOO way you can be a master of all three of the most amazing food you will ever eat and have it served in one location"... oh, the Piklies was not a hit AT ALL... it's bad. Bad.... I believe the previous owners sold and if they did, they did the Haitian community a disservice by not delivering the quality food they were use to delivering.. So the plate was mixed of all three cultures..... the rice was African, the meat was either Haitian or Jamaican and the plantains were sweet not Green fried plantains... I normally don't write bad reviews but I was very dissatisfied over all..
