Went there with a group of my high school classmates from 50 years ago. I ordered chicken tenders with sweet potato fries and fried okra and added a two rib side for 599. The two ribs turned out to only be one rib and it was so dry and tough could hardly eat it. The chicken tenders are not fresh made. They came out of a box that had been frozen obviously and we're just OK. You don't get much food there anymore like you used to. I was not impressed. read more

3-3-18 I got the pulled pork with fries and baked beans, I want to try something different for sides next time like the potatoe salad or the potatoe casserole. But the pulled pork is good, it cane with a roll or cornbread as well. My husband got the chicken and pulled pork, he liked the chicken the best. THey bring out free pork skins. My family was in town and decided to try this place. I ordered the chopped chicken plate with sweet potato fries and the cheesy jalapeño grits. My husband had the rack of ribs with sauce. My son had chicken tenders and fries. Overall, the food was pretty good. They did mess my order up instead of bringing grits they brought me sweet potato casserole. I didn't really care for it. The sweet potato fries were a little too greasy and browned for me. I wouldn't mind going back and checking something else out next time. read more

Went here while at a baseball tournament. Good food. I would not say GREAT food. I have had better bbq/brisket, i.e. the Henry's Smokehouse location on Wade Hampton Blvd in Greenville, SC. But I was ravenous and was craving a brisket sammich. The brisket was a bit on the dry side. I was expecting a little more spice along the charred edges. But the pricing was reasonable and the service was middle of the road. And, as you all know who read my reviews, I had to check the bathroom. It was not a disaster, but it definitely needed some attention. This is a good spot to grab decent bbq at a price that won't make you get all upset at the establishment. read more

The brisket is 5*. ORDER THR SLICED BRISKET. We ordered combo plates but both agreed we wished we had just ordered all brisket instead. Go ahead and spend the extra $9 for the sliced instead of the chopped brisket sandwich. That's the best item on the menu. The other meat and sides are delicious, but most I have talked to would say it is expensive for BBQ. Me personally, I'd pay $20 for a steak so I am fine paying $20 for good BBQ. The pork is good, and when it comes to BBQ in SC pork is king. But I'll say this one more time...order the SLICED brisket. It's moist, tasty, and passes the flop and pull tests. It's awesome. Maybe I am being too partial to the Smokin Pig but we absolutely love it. Almost without failure my wife and I eat here every Friday night. Obviously the food is great but the employees are fantastic. From the time you walk in to your exit the experience is well worth the trip. The portions are more than a mouthful and we rarely have had a time we didn't take leftovers home. Try the PBR for a taste of everything but chicken. I got the chopped pork sandwich with fries and coleslaw, which was made even more delicious by dousing everything with the mustard-based and vinegar spice BBQ sauces. This restaurant serves the Sysco moist towelette, reorder number 2239107, with their half rack of ribs. It is a good size, very refreshing, and the blue and green pattern on the front of the wrapper is very classy and the best part of this establishment. It even includes instructions for microwaving or chilling the towelette! I only gave four stars because the moist towelette is not lemon scented. However, the wait staff is very responsive and would certainly bring a lemon wedge to solve that if asked. Some of the light fixtures are also very nice. The ribs were okay. I don't think Burger King serves ribs, but theirs would probably be better. Best moist towelette experience ever! read more

Smoking pig is a nice local chain they have 2-3 locations. I have worked my way through most of the menu and while the pull pork is good it isn't the best I have had. I am not really a big fan of chopped chicken either but theirs was on par with the rest of the local places. Where the smoking pig really shines is the brisket. This place has some of the best brisket I have ever had. This is coming from a person who has spent many hours perfecting smoking receipts and brisket at home. If you come here you have to eat some brisket. The glazed ribs tend to be a little tough for me but have a really good flavor. I prefer the non-glazed ribs. The jalapeno cheese grits are some of the best grits you will ever have. If you eat in the restaurant they give you a free appetizer of pork rinds that are really good. When I don't have 24 hours to devote to prepping and smoking a brisket the smoking pig is where I come for BBQ. read more
