I've visited Clemson for almost a decade now, flying from Southern California to join the Tigers for college football and basketball games. I have no connection to the school or the South, but have fallen for the hospitality, friendliness and excitement. For years, I've brought groups of friends to the Smokin Pig near Anderson and contended with huge crowds, and for a good reason. We came to this new Easley location - on gameday - to avoid the crowds and were impressed by the service, more modern atmosphere and incredible BBQ. I've spent the last decade eating BBQ in nearly every state and have visited all the tourist BBQ places the Travel Channel promotes. Smokin Pig can and does rival those peers, both chain locations like Jim N Nick's and Dreamland and small spots in KC like Oklahoma Joes, etc. It's that good and if you are driving through South Carolina on I-85, it's worth the detour (keep in mind you have three Smokin Pig's to choose from. The service is what all restaurants should model themselves after. You'll feel like you're eating with extended family. Everyone is happy, helpful, kind and on duty to ensure you enjoy every bite. Like all top-notch BBQ spots, this place isn't fancy, but you came here for world-class flavor - and you'll get it, along with the best sides in the industry. Every employee knows and understands the menu. There's four sauces on each table: vinegar based, red, mustard and spicy, all of which are great. (Spicy isn't on the table at this location. You have to ask for it.) Try them all. And, I can't stop raving about the sides. Normally, when I go to BBQ places I don't eat the sides, because they are terrible. Not so here. The fried okra had no grease, period. The sweet potato fries are doused with sugar and honey and attempt to keep you from eating anything else: that good. The Brunswick stew is the first I've ever eaten that's stuffed with pulled pork and packed with flavor. And, the sweet potato crunch - greatest ever! The challenge here is deciding which side to get - because you only get two! Wait - we came here for meat, right? The half rack of ribs were perfect, fall off the bone meat. The honey glaze was so wonderful there was no need for any additional sauce. The brisket, wonderful. Pulled pork: awesome. They do everything right here from service, to flavor to quality. And, what's most shocking: it's one-third the price of most BBQ places. Where else can you find 2 meats, 2 sides, bread for less than $15? You can't, well not with this quality, unless you go to the Pompous Pig in Anderson, one of the few places that rivals The Pig. And, don't forget dessert. The cobbler changes by season. We came during peach season and were wowed by the peach cobbler. Every bite tasted like the best peach you've ever eaten burst in your mouth. The banana pudding rivals that at Dreamland, which is a feat in it's own. This place belongs on everyone's must-eat list! Everyone's. read more

Friendly wait staff. That is the only reason for two stars. My wife ordered the pork and brisket. She asked if she could get burnt ends in lieu of the sliced brisket and was told she could. She got sliced brisket. When we requested the burnt ends, that is exactly what we got. Crusty bits of extremely burnt meat. She said the pork was good. I ordered the pork, brisket, & ribs. The ribs were so dried out, the meat had pulled away from the bone. It could have passed for jerky. I managed to chew my way through one bite and left the rest on my plate. Next, the sliced brisket. And again, dry. I tried to cut it with the plastic knife. It literally crumbled into bits. I should have chosen the spoon. The pulled pork was the best of the trio. However, it was unimpressive for me. I was really looking forward to some good southern BBQ. After reading many stellar reviews and asking a few locals, I figured this was the place. Food is hit or miss. Definitely better dining in than ordering out. Wait times can be super long and atmosphere chaotic. I've dined in twice and both times have had orders incorrect or waited long for meals to come out. Definitely disappointing when you pay their prices and the meat is dry. I moved from Northeast US to Easley in 2018. I have traveled extensively and been lucky enough to have had the best Texas BBQ (Franklin, Snows, Mincklewaites) St. Louis (Rendezvous) and Carolina Whole Hog (Rodney Scott's) and Smoking Pig has the best beef brisket and ribs anywhere in US. Also be sure to get the jalapeños cheesy grits with the in season fruit cobbler. read more

Amazing Barbecue! The meat doesnt need barbecue sauce and thats what I look for in good barbecue, if it dont need sauce then it some pretty darn tasty, well seasoned, and well smoked meat! The ribs are the most tender ribs I had ever had and they dont need barbecue sauce! Brisket is the best I had ever had and again, doesnt need sauce! Same with the pulled pork, its incredible. Has good food. But when I ask for extra chicken the manager told me I couldn't have it. And then to top it all off I ordered peach cobbler and I got apple. But I had placed my order online and then called and explained what I wanted since they told me the ticket doesn't show what I want. So I called to verify and they didn't tell me it was off season for peaches even tho 2 days prior to that I ordered the same thing and got nothing in my bag no extra chicken and no peach cobbler we had to make another trip out just to get these items read more

Same owner as the one in Pendleton, same great food and friendly service. I like this location, it is bigger with an indoor waiting area. Parking is ok, there is a strip mall across the street that's closed at night if you don't mind crossing the street. read more

We use to come here a lot and took a break because they are never consistent on planning how much food to prepare a day. We've been here 2 hours before closing and 4 hours before closing and they're always out of more than one item. We decided to give it a try after a year from being there and a hour before closing they came out and took 6 items off the menu board. All out of chicken. Tried this restaurant a year ago and was disappointed. Tried it again tonight and can say that they are consistent. The brisket was over priced and over cooked. The pork ribs were so overdone that they looked like chopped pork that somebody had inserted some bones into with no 'bite' to them at all. I visited at the start of the evening meal period and I would guess that what was placed in my take-out boxes was meat left from lunch. Dry and tasteless. If I had been dining in I would have sent it back to the kitchen but since it was take-out I didn't get the bad news until I got home and could only send it to the trash can. I'll not go to this place again and would not recommend it to anyone. The worst $60 I've ever wasted. Anybody that thinks this is good BBQ has never tasted the real thing. read more

Before the details I will just state this is the best bbq in the area. Since landing in Greenville a few months ago I have taken it upon myself to try and sample all the local bbq since I was so deprived of it while living in CA. I've hit all the local Greenville faves and had mixed emotions about the affair. This was not the case with Smokin' Pig. We arrived at roughly 2:30 pm. The location was nice and I did enjoy the ambiance and decor both outside and in. It wasn't too crowded but enough patrons that it didn't feel like you picked a poor choice in dining. Wife, who isn't a huge bbq fan but thankfully braves these outings with me, chose the brisket plate and I chose the full pork, ribs, and brisket plate so as to get a solid grasp on what Smokin Pig had to offer. Plates came with 2 sides as is custom with most of these joints. The woman who took my order suggested the glazed ribs as it seemed to be the most ordered. We were seated and they made accommodations for us since we had our son in his car seat so needed a little extra room. A very short wait and our waitress, Chondra, came and dropped off some complimentary pork rinds, grabbed us two sweet teas, and since it was a first time gave us the rundown on their sauces. She was kind enough to bring out the extra hot bbq sauce from the back which isn't usually served at the table. it was spicy but not overbearing and had good flavor. Actually we probably could have just eaten the pork rinds in the spicy vinegar bbq sauce and been happy. After another short wait Chondra brought us our plates and .... wow. Wonderful presentation and the appeal didn't stop at first look. My wife started in on her brisket and immediately was head over heals with the flavor. This is the woman that protests indignantly when I tell her we are going to try out another bbq spot. The brisket was just full of flavor. The glazed ribs were good. I was hoping for maybe a little more tender fall off the bone. Funny enough our server Chondra came over after my first rib and started telling me how she prefers the dry rub ribs and offered to bring me a sample. And she was right. Best rib Ive had yet here in SC and topped with some of their spicy sauce just leagues above the glazed. I wish I could detail more of the affair but the ribs and the brisket (plus maybe a little too much of the complimentary pork rinds) had me waving the white flag. I did have a bite of my jalapeno cheese grits and the bakes beans and they were good but I couldn't give them the attention they deserved after the brisket and ribs. 5 stars and I am sooo thankful its a half hour commute for me to get here because any closer to home and Id be in trouble. To summarize: * Wonderful location * Hands down best 'cue in the area * Amazing service. The attentiveness from Chondra was equally as impressive as the food and really left us smiling. Haven't had a server make me feel so obligated to leave a tip in a while. If you are reading this review looking for a place to eat in the area don't sleep on this place. I admire them even more during this time...recently went through the drive-thru to pick up, and everyone in the kitchen slaving away had a mask on! Left a bigger tip just by seeing that. I was so pleasantly surprised at the quality of everything when I finally got it home. Unfortunately, I ordered it online and was stuck in traffic for 30 minutes. The fries and sweet potato fries were steamed to death in the container. The ONLY thing I would recommend to the restaurant is to poke holes in the containers holding fried food for to-go orders - makes a huge difference in their quality, and not to put a ton of food on top of the fries. We ordered the sliced Brisket, Chopped Chicken and Rib Combo Plate, along with the 2 fry orders, one of the best "fast food" coleslaws I have ever had and baked beans. The restaurant was hectic busy, but they all knew what they were doing. You order at the counter and then have a seat. Evidently, their pork fried rings are so good, two ladies in front of me ordered huge bags to go (will try that one next time). They also have a drive through order, and a couple of folks outside with their pads taking orders. So next time, I will skip the online ordering, order on site, and ask for the fries in separate containers, and I will be a happy camper. And nice folks, too! read more

I've been going to smoking pig for over 7 years now, and I can honestly say I will never go back. The last few visits I've had have been so disappointing. Portions have drastically dropped, prices have gone up and the quality now is terrible. Tried one last time yesterday to see if maybe they could get it right. Nope. Not at all. Brisket was so dry and hard and the ribs were absolutely terrible!! The meat was so hard and chewy I couldn't even get it off the bone. They tasted as if they had baked them in the oven for an hour and cremated them. The sides were subpar at best. I have travel around the US trying different BBQ places so I know what good brisket and ribs taste like. Smoking Pig use to be excellent but unfortunately now it seems they are taking too many short cuts and the quality has dropped. read more

My most favorite restaurant!! Amazing food! My favorite is the chopped chicken plate with sweet potato casserole & the jalapeño cheese grits. Love their BBQ sauce & rolls! So yummy! It was really good! I loved it 10/10 recommend but 10/10 for food but the okra was a little salty! But other than that it was delicious and I want y'all to go there and support them especially from COVID! It's a little pricey but totally worth it!! Greeted at the door with a friendly smile. Several pews in the waiting area to avoid standing. There's enough room while waiting so you don't feel crowded. Love the menu is up high and visible to all. Definitely a plus. As deciding what to eat is a challenge for a picky eater. To go boxes for everyone this visit. We love this place! The brisket is the best that we have ever had. The pulled pork is fantastic, it is tender with a nice smokey flavor that is not over powering. We always enjoy the sides and the friendly staff. The sauces are are really good, so make sure that you do just a little dab at a time so you can try the meat with all the different flavors. The only thing that we did not love was the berry cobbler. It was a little too sweet and runny, but it does come with ice cream. Be prepared for a wait on the weekends. It should be expected with a place that has food this good. We eat a lot of BBQ and have tried it all over the country and this is some of the best that you can get hands down. read more

We're visiting our son who recently moved to Easley/Greenville. He's been told this is the best barbecue in the area but hadn't tried it yet. We got a big carry out order last night- ribs, brisket, chicken and pulled pork--with all 4 sauces and sides too. And every single thing was amazingly delicious. We used to live in OK and have traveled across the country- these were the best ribs I've ever had! And the banana pudding and apple cobbler just topped it all off. Hands down the best brisket I've ever had! My family and I have been eating here since the Easley location opened. And we have never been Disappointed by the food! They even added a overflow parking lot and a parking area for the bike owners heading for a ride up the parkway. And theres plenty of side items and sauce options. As far as the sides go: the jalapeño cheese grits were pretty good; you can't go wrong with the sweet potato soufflé (casserole); and the loaded potato casserole was tasty too. We got takeout and ordered well in advance. Apparently someone with my same name ordered after us and they put it on our order. When we arrived at drive through, the attendant read the order back to us and discovered the mistake. She had to get a manager to remove the other order. They then did not have our order ready, but were putting it together. Granted, I called ahead 35 minutes earlier so I was expecting the order to be waiting on me.
