Bomb! Very good bbq would definitely recommend for a fast bite of some good smokehouse bbq

Like most of the other reviews mentioned, if you liked the Old Turtle Crossing you'll like Smokin' Wolf! Arthur Wolf was the chef when it was Turtle Crossing and then bought it this year so he's brought back the good BBQ food we all missed. When I went there yesterday we started with the BBQ chicken wings which were drenched in a delicious tangy BBQ sauce. I also tried the grilled corn on the cob smothered with cotija cheese and a light dusting of chili powder (totally worth the $5). We both did 2 meat combo plates ($25 each) and between the 2 of us got to try the pulled pork, BBQ chicken, brisket and smoked sausage. All of them were really great! I really enjoyed my mashed sweet potatoes and the coleslaw was good southern coleslaw. I also noticed a lot of familiar faces with staff, which is great because I had never received bad service when it was Turtle Crossing - so glad to see it back and expect to frequent there this summer!! read more

Ribs are quite good as are most of their dishes. We love to bring in from here when we don't feel like eating out.

Even though the owner worked at Turtle Crossing, a great consistent rest.and has tried the same menu items at this small eatery, they are not that good. The spicy shrimp wrap lack any spicy favor and whatever seasoning was dumped on it, probably stale and flat dried thyme was horrible and overpowered the fresh shrimp inside. Stick to the BBQ items, the sauce it still good. Stanley would be proud. read more

Ill preface this review by saying that I only tried the baked beans. To me, I can usually sum up a BBQ joint by the quality of beans since theyre a staple and easy to make well. I also think this with the potato salad, but I know that potato salad anywhere in NY is usually pretty bad (potatoes, mayo and carrots only...sometimes a bit varied). Anyway, I tried the beans as a side item for the BBQ I was having at home from the place next door and I was fairly impressed, they had some meat mixed in and were what I would expect from a place in the south. These beams, however, were not. Granted, Im put off by the fact that a SMALL side was $6. I know, I know, this is the Hamptons but this is just absurd. I tried to look past this and just enjoy them with the BBQ I was having at home but I couldnt. I mean, they werent bad. They were average, but for $6 they should have been at least as good as the place next door. My B&M beans I cook (with added ingredients) are better and it only costs $1.69. It makes me not want to try a full meal form here. read more

Stopped by here with the family on a Sunday evening and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the BBQ. Great smoke, just the right amount of sauce and the service was great even though they were busy. Nice down to earth spot in a really over the top town. Will definitely return! read more

When we think bbq we think of the open pit fires of carolina pig, the luscious dry rubbed ribs of Memphis, and the classic tender Texas Hickory smoked Beef. Amongst the trendy sushi bars, avant-garde gastropubs, and gourmet burgers of the Hamptons the Smokin' Wolf is like manna from heaven for those that desire quality bbq. The proprietor of the establishment is no beginner to the art of the 'Q. Blending the best of all the traditional bbq regions in one platter he has brought a true culinary gift to us New Yorkers. Try the sauce, one taste rings of traditional carolina bbq with a satisfying blend of vinegar, brown sugar, molasses, and a secret blend of spices. Take a spoon of Brisket chili and get kicked in the mouth of super pack with flavor "burnt ends" (edges of brisket saturated by its own juice and spices) or my personal favorite the pulled chicken white bean chili. But of course we must discuss the bbq platter. Never say the Smokin' Wolf lets its customers go home hungry. All of its entrees are heaped with generous portions but the true jewel of the menu is the bbq platter. Choose a combination of bbq meats (my go to is a mixture of Brisket, duck, bbq chicken, and pulled chicken) and get ready to chomp down. Every dish is perfectly smoked in the restaurant's on site smoker and treated with loving care and patience as if it were marble under the chisel of a renaissance sculptor. But like every true 'Q place the sides aren't after thoughts, they bring to the table as much gastronomic joy as the entree. The cornbread is heavenly, crumbly but not loose, buttery but not too rich. The brown sugar baked beans bring memories of cowboys gathered around the campfire staring at the stars and enjoying a hearty meal as a reward for a hard day's work. The mashed yams, a divine blend of nature's candy, butter, and molasses. The desserts are all meant to pack your stomach with that one more bite of goodness that you swear you can't eat until you see it right in front of you and you decide "Maybe I can handle a bit more. " sadly this is a seasonal restaurant opening in early summer and closing in October. For anyone visiting the Hamptons it would be a crime to skip this sanctuary of 'Q. read more

Had never been to Turtle Crossing, but after reading how beloved it was, I figured my fiance and I should check out its "new incarnation" Smokin' Wolf. I was also intrigued by the $5 frozen drink special they posted on Facebook. However, when I tried to take advantage of said special, my raspberry margarita tasted more like a non-alcoholic smoothie. Delicious, fresh, def used real raspberries, but ... come on, it's no deal if there's no booze! For dinner, my fiance got the smoked chicken sandwich, which he said was "very good" and a side of mashed sweet potatoes, which had a smoky, spicy kick that made them addictive. Yum! I ordered the fajitas (combo -- shrimp and chicken) hoping to get the best of both worlds -- high-quality, tender chicken and Tex Mex -- in one dish. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed. The presentation was a bit Applebee's sad, and overall, the dish was mediocre, really nothing to write home about. A teeny portion of not-so-fresh guac, small-ish shrimp, Cajun-ish rice and beans that didn't fit the flavors I was expecting. I feel like I could have gotten the same thing at countless other restaurants ... So maybe the lesson here is to stick to one of the $21+ BBQ platters? Meh. As a last ditch attempt to try something unique and awesome, we got the grilled corn on the cob, coated in cojita cheese. It was delish (if a little too heavy on the spicy mayo), but yeah, $5 for one cob is nuts! read more

Not your typical bbq sit down restaurant but great little spot out east to stop and grab a quick bite. Cute decor, picnic tables to eat out side are great. Food was delish, we got the bbq chicken sandwich and pulled pork quesadillas, with grilled corn and mac and cheese as sides. There's currently a groupon available which is always sweet, even without prices and portions are reasonable. We'll definitely be back! read more

Smokin Wolf just recently catered a family celebration we had in East Hampton. They provided a wonderful buffet style dinner for about 30 people. Their beef tenderloin was SUPERB; very tender and tasty and cooked to perfection. The salmon was fresh and beautifully prepared. Both were accompanied by seasoned roast potatoes, vegetables and salad. Everything was delicious. An amazingly great job done by Chef Lori and Smokin Wolf...They are the BEST! read more

We got hooked on the Wolf last summer and were ecstatic when it opened again in 2013. The menu is extensive, both BBQ and Mexican, and the food is excellent. It's high end and high flavor. Our friends who come to visit always ask to have a meal from Smokin' Wolf while they stay. There's something for everyone on the menu. We love the chicken chili as it's flavorful and nutritious. The chicken wings are insanely delicious especially with the home made blue cheese sauce. We always get 1lb of pulled chicken to keep in the fridge and extra BBQ sauce to go with it. I also love the fajita burrito, and the duck quesadilla is hearty and flavorful. The onion rings are worth every calorie, the greens are tasty and the mashed sweet potato is delicious. The place is family run and everyone is warm and friendly. We often call ahead and the food is ready when we arrive to pick it up. We've also used them several times for parties with 10+ guests and everyone raves about it. In fact, one weekend we all had BBQ for breakfast because it was so good and the portions are so big we had lots of leftovers. So happy they're staying open for the year. read more

Barbecue sauce was very good. Ribs were OK. Barbecue beans came out in a plastic ramekin which I hate and there was a strong taste of vinegar in the barbecue beans. We were looking for a great place to eat while visiting the Montauk/East Hampton/Wainscott area, and found this place on Yelp. Four stars? Let's try it out, and boy was I glad I did! I can't speak to what my girlfriend ordered, because she ate it all....but my wrap was phenomenal. Spicy Shrimp Wrap - It has shrimp, rice, beans, scallions, guacamole, and sour cream. While it's not spicy, it definitely has a great taste. I'm not sure if it's the prawns that have a particular condiment, or if it's all of the ingredients working in harmony, but it tasted great. The prawns were not dry at all, and there was a generous helping of them in the wrap. Their location is very spacious, clean, and well ventilated. I know it might seem silly, but these are small details that matter to me, especially when it is super hot outside. I regret not ordering their BBQ, because that is what they're well-known for....but the summer isn't over yet, and I'm anxious to go back. So I have been to this establishment in the past for work purposes, didn't have time to eat last time but from what I saw in the kitchen the place is extremely clean you could literally eat off the floor. Today I actually had the pleasure to eat here and what a treat. I couldn't decide on what to get so I ordered 2 things from the menu, prior Yelp reviews said go fish taco. Fried to perfection you can tell they used good hot oil because the fish was not dripping in grease, it was nice and crispy. The Mac and cheese on the side was perfect simple and delicious, I hate when places try to dress up simple things to try and make it stand out Mac n cheese should be nothing but macaroni and cheese and it was nothing short of perfect. The second dish I ordered was a special, it was a smoked turkey sandwich and once again fresh ingredients on a nice fresh bun the fries as a side were also another Yelp decision said "they were the best fries in the Hamptons" and they could be right I haven't tried every fry but these were delicious. I will be back and look forward to eating here while on vacation instead of a lunch break at work!! read more

Took my wife there tonight at about 6PM. You are supposed to order your meal, for take out, or to stay, where you can eat at a few tables inside, or the 6 or 8 tables, on the outside patio. There were some customers waiting for take out orders, and 2 tables outside, waiting. I am in my late 70s, and felt totally ignored by the 2 women behind the counter. One finally took our order, and told me she would bring it out to our table on the patio. We took 2 bottled drinks outside, and waited. About 25 minutes later, and many of the people already served, my wife went inside and was told it will be out soon. After a couple that came in after us, was served their food, at the next table, I went inside and again asked for our order. The women behind the counter looked annoyed that we were asking again. At that point I had enough, and told her to cancel the order, I paid for our drinks, and asked to speak to the owner. The 2 women looked at each other like they did not know how to respond to me. The owner came out, and I told him what happened. He told me he would check on the order, but I told him we were leaving, and he let us. Unfortunately, I have noticed, that as I get older, many young people in the service industries have trouble acknowledging the older crowd. They don't seem to know that we spend the most money, and are the biggest tippers, in many cases. Sorry to have to make this social comment read more

Five stars for outstanding delicious five meat BarBQ platter with two sides ($34). Overall initial experience only three stars due to rather pricey lunch and initially very upsetting service. Very good lunch specials well priced, but for $34, the platter size was disappointing. Dining quite enjoyable at outdoor picnic tables. We were totally turned off by their refusal to honor even the initial guaranteed purchase face value of a Groupon coupon of $32. I never asked nor expected them to accept the coupon for the promotional value of $60 (expired). When I asked for them to write on the coupon that they refused to honor it, even though coupon clearly states "never expires", with the intention to simply pay for the meal and later get refund back directly from Groupon, the owner came out and after looking at the coupon agreed to honor it. We added a couple beers, but the sever very curtly told us that beers were not a Groupon benefit, a rather irrelevant point given that our food order exceeded the coupon value. Nevertheless, I will definitely return, their food is wonderful! read more

Wow!!! The BBQ was amazing!! I had the BBQ sampler platter with 1/4 chicken, 2 ribs, corn on the cob and corn bread!! It was awesome!!! My husband had the single meat platter. I stole a bite from his plate and it was as good as mine!! This place should be on everyone's list if they're in the area. read more

My family and I ate at Smokin' Wolf this past weekend and it was G-R-E-A-T! The food was reasonably priced and very deliscious. The portions were perfect, the ribs and brisket were very tastey as well as their famous corn on the cob. I would reccomend trying it out if your in the mood for some good BBQ! read more

I have eaten here many times and it's always delicious. I had them cater my mothers 60th birthday party, the food was fantastic. Arthur (owner) was very helpful with planning (he even helping me find tables, chairs and clothes). He made the party low stress and a great success! The price for 45 people was reasonable and there was plenty of food and very happy guests. I would recommend for anyone looking for great food and great service. read more

We hosted 27 guests on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and surprisingly, we initially had a great deal of trouble locating a caterer (or one that would actually return our calls)...until we happened upon Smokin' Wolf. Arthur and his daughter were extremely service oriented and friendly and helped us set the menu for our 27 guests. We heard back promptly with pricing and...to top it all off, the food was absolutely AMAZING. Numerous guests were saying that the ribs were the best they have ever had. EVERYTHING was delicious...ribs, chicken, pulled pork, mac and cheese, mashed sweet potatoes, local brussels sprouts, pear salad, coleslaw, corn bread...and the BBQ sauce! YUM! We will DEFINITELY be return customers...and, in the meantime, I am benefiting this week from all of the scrumptious leftovers! read more

I have been a patron since the inception. Always have been hesitant to order for pick up as they never seem to get the wait time right. Also am a catering customer. (or at least I was) Food is very good, way above average depending on what you order. Customer service is lacking BIG TIME! Here is the scenario... My order was placed at 8pm. I was told 30 minutes, which I knew would be 40. So I show up at 8:40 to a line at the register. At 8:45 Sandra tells the cashier to call the guy who ordered the duck to tell him there is no more. I walk over to the side and asked for Sandra. When she appears I explain that any time prior to my showing up would have been acceptable to call me but it was already 15 minutes after my order was supposed to be ready and I didnt want to wait another 30 minutes for a fresh order. All she needed to say was I am terribly sorry, its our fault , please pick a new entre and its on the house. Or please pick out a desert and its on the house. NO...I got " Its the kitchens fault. We had a lot of catering business today and it was really busy" so let me get this straight...when you screw up an order you blame the kitchen and your catering customers....WOW. There are probably 20 different rules of properly engaging a customer that were broken in less than 5 minutes. You lost me as a customer including my catering business over a $20 duck order because you refused to do the right thing. Good job. Very foolish. read more
