Snapper jacks special taco sauce, hot salsa and pico.
Joanne A.

I had some errands to run in Ventura and my "reward" was to grab a crispy potato taco at Snapper Jacks! Best reward I've had in a long time!!! The service was amazing and fast! They give you a handful of tortilla chips and that taco was HUGE!!! The salsa bar is awesome and they have a great selection; fresh cilantro, lemons, limes, pickled carrot, jalapeño and onions, and salsas for every taste Their special taco sauce is so yummy it will make you go back for more! Literally! They have plenty of seating, some outdoors...and the place is spotless! The energy is upbeat and everyone is happy as they dig into their food! I know I was in taco heaven! The prices are affordable too and I can't wait to go back!

Battered Fish Taco

If I'm paying almost $8 for one taco I don't think it's asking too much to have a regular sized piece of fish that is NOT burnt.

Jack's Mini Combo with a Crispy Corn Tortilla Potato Taco
Mikey C.

This is my go to place for Potato Tacos. I've tried them at a few other places but none are even remotely as good as they are here. There are a lot of other things on the menu. Maybe those other things are good, i don't know. All I get here is Jack's Combo with either one or two Potato Tacos. Usually I get the Mini Combo, one taco. The Combo comes with Rice and Beans and a handful of tortilla chips. You can choose between whole or refried beans. You can also choose between corn or flour tortillas. In my opinion, the best configuration is corn tortillas (fried Crispy) and refried beans. The Potato Tacos here are just about perfect. It's like eating a loaded baked potato in taco form. The creamy sauce they put on those tacos is unlike any taco sauce I've ever had. And if you want more you can load up at the Salsa Bar. And Snapper Jack's has a bomb ass Salsa Bar. They've got so many Salsas it's ridiculous. Like probably about ten or fifteen. I don't know really. I couldn't be bothered counting salsas, I had a potato taco to eat. Sometimes I take my tacos to go, but I much prefer eating inside the restaurant because they have really great Surfing videos playing all the time. There are a few other TVs tuned to whatever sports programming is happening at the moment, but the TV over the counter where you pick up your food is almost always running Surfing vids. The only negative aspect of eating inside is that the chairs here Suck. They Suck so egregiously, They Suck with a capital S. I hate those cheap ass metal chairs. I'd probably eat here way more often if they had more comfortable chairs. My butt don't want no cheap ass metal chairs. I love everything else about the inside of the restaurant, particularly all the Surfing related posters and ephemera. But those chairs, ugh! And here's another reason why I love Snapper Jack's: the people working there are clearly well trained, efficient and actually seem pretty happy doing what they're doing. That's rare. Mikey C says: did I mention they have icy cold IBC Root Beer in bottles? They do!

Cheese Quesadilla & Chicken Taco with Crispy Flour Tortilla

My family has been coming here for YEARS on our way home from the beach & today I finally got to taste what all the hype is about! Soo good!

Chile relleno à la carte. So good !! Get it before they are gone.

Awesome Chile Relleno's!! You can have as a burrito, a plate or à la carte! Service is great & love the salsa bar.

Pretty good fish tacos if you're looking for something quick and easy to eat while in Ventura. We got our food within a few minutes and there's a lot of salsas to choose from Nice clean tables to sit outside and inside

I love snapper jacks! I got the Carne Asada/Steak Quesadilla. Give the white sauce a try, it's my favorite. I love all their sauces!

Crispy flour shell - Chicken taco

I was shocked to see a medium (unsweetened) black iced tea costs $3.25. I guess that's for the paper cup, lid and straw. Because ice tea itself is not that expensive. But it's alright. The chicken taco was yummy. I've been here before, it's quite a popular little place. I never rated it because it was hit and miss for me, and I wanted to eat here more to give a fair rating. No complaints about my taco it was good. Tea was good. Salsas were alright. I tried several. They were just okay. It was clean inside. Food was decent, but it wasn't something I'd crave, just convenient. Close by where I was shopping. I'm giving 4 stars because I thought the food tasted fresh. I took off one star because the iced tea was expensive, and the salsa was just okay. At no point did I think "Omg this is delicious!" But neither did I think it was bad. Better salsas would have been better. They didn't taste as fresh. Overall a decent experience though. The chicken was tasty!

Very friendly workers and the food comes out quick. I didn't order it from DoorDash the last time I got it and wow it was very pricey! $17 for nachos is insane but they did taste very good still. The ingredients are fresh and tasty!

Street corn

I don't come here often, but when I want street corn, there is delicious. The staff is nice and pretty quick. Whenever I stop by, it's always clean and organized. But for sure try the street corn. I think it's a Chipotle mayo and tajin. It's a good spin on an esquite.

Wet style BRC. Holy smokes $11 great deal

We were honestly so pleasantly surprised by Taqueria Cuernavaca!…read more We're from San Diego, so we don't take Mexican food lightly--we're pretty spoiled when it comes to quality and flavor. But this spot completely exceeded our expectations. We ordered delivery, and even then, everything arrived fresh, well-packaged, and still absolutely delicious--which says a lot. The food was incredibly flavorful without being heavy or greasy (something that's hard to find). You could really taste the freshness in the ingredients, and every dish felt well-balanced and thoughtfully made. This is one of those places you don't necessarily expect to be that good, and then it totally delivers. We'll definitely be ordering again next time we're in Ventura!

For me, one of the best indicators that the food is going to be amazing is when there are dish photos on the menu. That alone sets the tone. The fresh salsa bar is a standout, and yes, they have Mexican Coke and cervezas. On weekends, don't miss the white pozole with crunchy rolled taquitos filled with ricotta-style queso and all the fresh fixings. Add that chili oil and thank me later. I also love their tacos, especially the veggie ones. I'm not vegetarian, but they're that good. The ambiance is casual and welcoming. Clean, bright, and no-frills in the best way. It feels like a true neighborhood taquería where you can come as you are, whether you're grabbing a quick bite or sitting down to enjoy your meal. I recently learned this is their first location, which makes it even better. It's family-owned, now with four locations across Santa Barbara, Oxnard, and Ventura County, yet it still feels grounded and local. You can dine in, take out, or order delivery. The place is spotless, service is quick, and the staff is genuinely kind. A solid go-to for quality Mexican food that hits every time.

Parking is available in the rear one street over. Very safe with lots of spaces. I ordered the Fajita Burrito with carne asada. This is a basic presentation, and I cannot say enough good things about my meal. The vegetables were cooked to perfection with just the right amount of crunch and very fresh. The beef was so tender I would not have needed a knife to cut it. Very flavorful and not a lot of fat at all. Delicious. Mild salsa and guacamole is included. All for under $20.00 and home made chips and salsa are included. Very good salsa I opted to take home with me. The entree was quite generous and I took half of my burrito home with me. My only comment is the place is a bit small and rather dark as there are several TV's to watch sports. I do like sports but I prefer a bit more lighting to see what I am eating and how clean the establishment is. Otherwise I would have given a 5 star rating. I do need to mention the restroom was quite clean. Obvious to see this is a locals gathering spot. I'm sad the place is a four hour drive away as I would definitely make it a local favorite of my own if I lived closer.

Glad we gave Mother's Tacos a shot because we were pleasantly surprised. The food and drinks were both really good. The chicken mole was excellent, and the torta was a total hit. Even our 5-year-old loved it, which always says a lot. What stood out most though was our server, Cesar. He was fantastic from start to finish. Every recommendation he gave us was on point(including his surprise tequila recommendation), and he treated us with the kind of confidence and professionalism you'd expect from someone with years of hospitality experience. Dudes got old school server vibes that's rarely seen anymore! Super welcoming, attentive, and genuinely made the whole experience better. We left and came back at 3:15pm. I asked for the happy hour menu and the waitress told me that it didn't start till 6pm and the waiter who told me had gone home, long story short she honored the happy hour prices. Due to it being the anniversary the elote wasn't being served. I asked for more horchata which they said they were out of till later. When we got the food, most of it was over salted. The chicharróns and dirt papas were too salty to finish. Even adding the salsas didn't temper down the salt or added flavor or spice to the food. The asada taco was the best thing we had. We also got 2 churros. I feel like they were to thick an not done all of the way through. Also heard they had an Oreo churros for later that day too. I'll give it another try because I really wanted the all the Mother's smoke and am hoping what I experienced was a one time situation. We will have to see...
